Lore Oct 25 2020 4:44 pm Such a magnificent actress that I can't understand why she isn't nominated as best actress all the time; I saw her in Cloud Atlas for the first time and she makes that movie with her performance, absolutely astonishing.

I never saw sense8 but just this year I discovered Stranger (the best drama of the kind I've seen btw, better than Sherlock) The Host and then Stranger 2 came out and I watched that too, fantastic works... She's amazing, such natural expressions on her acting, never over the top.

Last week I finished Matrimonial Chaos which I started watching just because she was in it and I was blown away, I never thought I'd love it that much since I'm more of a "Stranger" kind of series, but I really recommend it; both her and Son Suk Goo really outshine everyone. Can't wait for Broker and The Sea of Tranquility and I really hope we get another season of Stranger!

Un modeste admirateur Jul 03 2020 6:52 pm If you don’t mind French movies, I highly recommend that you watch Bae Doo-Na in the film "#JeSuisLà" (2019). It’s about an ageing French cook (played by Alain Chabat) who’s always chatting online with a Korean woman, without ever having met her in real life. When she tells him that the cherry trees have blossomed in Korea, he decides to jump on a plane for Seoul. This is the beginning. I won’t spoil for you the rest of the story. Just hearing Bae Doo-Na speaking French for minutes made my day. She must have taken training, because she had a very intelligible pronunciation. But I think the movie is excellent as well, although melancholic at times. It raises very current questions on the topic of frontiers (borders): the frontier between two different cultures, or the frontier between reality and the virtual world, and the courage needed in order to cross them, followed by the joy of breaking free.

Even though she is a total bad ass in Sense 8 and Host, she portrays heroes that are vulnerable. In Kingdom she seamlessly portrays a character with intellect, humility and strength. Bae Doo-Na sets new standards for her craft.

I first saw her in Sense 8 and then followed her to Tunnel, and Stranger. She is the reason I am now so completely obsessed with kdrama, as I discovered kdrama through her and her role in Sense 8. Every role she has played has been incredible, and such varied roles too. I feel every emotion with her with every character she plays. So versatile, so amazing. Please - more of Bae Doo-na! I can't wait.

From the early promise of 'Sympathy for Mr Vengeance' via the beguiling innocence of 'Air Doll', through to her stunning performance in 'The Girl at my Door' (for which she refused payment) she has proved again and again that she has more depth, grace and eloquence than any Hollywood clone. There is an honesty and integrity to her work that one rarely sees in the west. For any young female actress wishing to study the craft in depth, I would advise you to study the work of Bae Doo-na.
