This man's face in no way resembles a Korean. Koreans generally have round, flat faces and more slanted eyes (without plastic surgery). Japanese have rounder eyes and the faces aren't flat. Although they are both Asian people, they are totally different and I have many Japanese friends and believe me, they do NOT appreciate being compared to Koreans! Just as I am sure Koreans don't want to be compared to Japanese, although they rarely are because of immature KPop and Kdrama fans. Japanese fans and Japanese certainly don't compare them. You never hear Koreans talking about the hostility of Koreans to Japanese so why bring that nonsense on here? It's really annoying to read about Japanese stars and every other comment is from silly KPop fan or a Korean saying the Japanese actor looks like some Korean star! Helena Mar 27 2018 4:31 am Tetsuji Tamayama has a Korean-Japanese father and a Japanese mother. I think he is the perfect actor to bridge the two countries and be a cultural ambassador for Japan in South Korea. He is interested in South Korea and said that he felt like he was coming to his homeland for the first time when he visited South Korea several years ago. This is a very nice thing to say. I would like to see some more Japanese influence in South Korean cinema as it has been mostly the other way around with the Korean Wave. It would be great if Tetsuji could act in South Korean movies and become well-known in South Korea. He can help reduce the prejudice many Koreans face in Japan as he has both Korean and Japanese blood. I really wish a Korean director to put him in a movie. A gangster movie that explores a South Korean gang that has ties with Japanese yakuza could be a suitable vehicle for him, with scenes shot in both South Korea and Japan. I think he is very talented, and charismatic to boot, and will be great in such a movie. Helena Mar 22 2018 3:16 am I would like to see him as the main character in a yakuza film or a samurai in a big-budget film. I was impressed with his acting in "Prisoner" and "I Want To Be With You Forever". I am surprised Hollywood hasn't discovered him. He is a heartthrob, with classic looks of old-style Japanese actors, and he has screen presence. He'd be ideal for movies like "The Last Samurai" minus Tom Cruise or other Caucasian actor or "Memoirs of a Geisha". Or in a gangster film directed by John Woo. I'd like to see him in better vehicles than he has been in, and not as a supporting character but as the main role. I was disappointed with Lupin and some other movies like Goemon and Casshern. I don't think he does well in slice of life dramas or sci fi, fantasy, spy or action movies. He didn't suit the role he had in "Hard To Say I Love You" as a gay editor who suffers from sexual harassment by his boss. He doesn't look the weak type who is mentally frail. He is too manly. I don't think comedies are for him. He was okay in Seaside Motel but that film was a bit light weight. I am interested in yakuza movies but haven't found a Japanese one I like. It would be good if he worked with Korean directors – I think they make better movies than Japanese directors. But I think the movie should be set in Japan, not Korea, and involve mostly Japanese actors. I think he should keep his beard and moustache for most roles. "Elevator to the Gallows" was excellent. He acted the character of the disturbed patrol man very well. Another role that suits him is as a businessman. He looked nifty in a suit and glasses in "Lost Identity". Mainly I would like to see him have the main role. I think he's wasted in these side roles. Directors need to cast him in some manly role such as a samurai lord or yakuza boss in an A-grade film. He needs to work with top directors like Park Chan Wook or John Woo or even European directors like Luc Besson. Huge huge star potential.
