Why does Korea ignore the actors in their late 30's to 40's? They can do much more than just character parts.

A Weeks Aug 02 2017 4:40 pm One of my favorite Korean actors ever since I saw him in "The Devil (Lucifer or the Evil as it is also called here)...but very difficult to see any of his work in the US. We were able to view Architecture 101 and Wanted last year. Drama Fever is currently offering Resurrection (Rebirth) to American viewers. Can't wait!

tncdel Jun 08 2017 12:51 am Not impressed with his acting. Does not project manliness in a character calling for it in historical type dramas or modern action-suspense. Better suited for non-serious romantic comedies.

Part of the problem is that he has been saddled with lousy scripts. Such as the one in the Sword and Flower. And too many K-drama scriptwriters seem to lose sight of the fact that Koreans of ancient times were a lot more stoic than how they are portrayed. Nothing like the "crybabies" depicted. And I've watched many dozens of historical dramas that averaged at least one crying scene almost every episode.

To keep things more realistic, and to also show respect for their ancestors, scriptwriters should RARELY employ crying scenes. But, as things have now become, many TV viewers have been stupefied to equate an actor or actress's ability to shed tears on cue as great acting ability. When in fact great acting is shown by the skill of minimalist action. Conveyed with expression and an economy of words.

Meredith K. Jan 15 2017 12:30 pm I loved him in the Great Queen Seondeok. There was a scene where the evil Misil was talking about his character Yu-shin, and said 'Now, that's a man.' I burst out laughing so hard because that's how I was feeling whenever he came on screen. He was just that good in portraying the strong, valiant General.

kyungsoo!! Jan 29 2015 7:16 am I love him in Can We Love. What an amazing character. I hope there are more characters like him in dramas. Such a sweetheart, deeply in love with his woman, honest, funny, cute, treats everyone nicely, good looking. One of the things that I love the most about him is his honesty with his lover. If he misses her, he'll say it. Doesn't treat her harshly or coldly to get the cool guy image. I also watched UTW in Resurrection and Equator Man. He's one of the best actors I've watched. I was very impressed with him in Resurrection and in Equator Man, his blind acting, damn! If I didn't know him before I'd really think he was blind. It was not the typical blind acting that other actors do, it was not looking to the same direction and not moving eyes. And his was more believable and real. What amazes me about him is that the real UTW is such a sweetheart, shy, dorky, manchild who gets emotional very easily. Watching him on 2d1n and SIB made me appreciate his acting more than I already did. If it's even possible. Btw, I hope the picture above could be changed. It's his worst photo ever and it's up there! Believe me he's 100 times better and younger looking real life.

777 Jan 16 2015 10:24 am He's the perfect husband/father material. Cute, funny, dorky and extremely sensitive. Loves playing and spending time with his daughter. A very loving caring and nice man. Also a very good actor. I've watched almost all his works, and he's one of the best actors.

tp May 15 2013 1:20 pm I've just finished watching "man from the equator" and I loved it. I was so happy with the ending for you deserve it at the end. It was worth to watch such a drama with you in it. You're such an amazing actor of all cuz you put your heart and soul in your acting, esp. with the kissing scene. Your kiss is so true, so sincere like a true lover in life, not just in movie. That's how the acting should be. I'm starting to watch your next drama "Dr. Champ", and getting so excited when you first appear at the airport. Hopefully this one is as good as the first one that I've seen. KureCityMom May 19 2012 8:33 pm This is a very good drama. It has evolved very much into a "film noir" type of story reminiscent of Los Angeles and Raymond Chandler mysteries. . The music is very expressive and communicates the feeling of suspense very well. The lead actor, Uhm Tae-Woon has done excellent work in playing the part of a blind person. I don't know how he managed to hold his eyes with that extreme side focus without getting a terrific headache!

Starting with QSD (episode 48 today in Romania), which I have seen on youtube to the end, and due to your excellent performance (not only in this series but also in Mawang, Hand Phone, Chaw, and Delightful Girl...) I became interested in Korean movies. I collected a lot of information from internet about you and your colleagues (Al-cheon, Bidam, Deokman, Mi-shil) and I read about Korea's old history. So I can say to Lia Natalia, who I suspect is from Romania too, that the wonderful love stories Deokman-Yu-sinn and Deokman-Bidam have nothing to do with the history but they give the human touch we appreciate so much in these dramas. And you are very good actors, all of you! Congratulation for the entire team!

I like to think of you as the same honest, serious and dedicated person hwarang Yu-sinn is, and judging after the interviews I read or saw, and the very different roles you made in the movies I mentioned, I am probably right.

This is the 3rd Korean series we see here, in Romania, and I think it serves well your country because people become interested in a space, a history and a culture about they knew so little or nothing. And actors are great ambassadors!

I like very much your acting and...singing! I love all your characters and I am suffering with you every time you loose or have to let go to your love. I am looking forward to see Cyrano. Good luck, and a great, well-deserved, acting career!

At the same time Bidam also say the same words, but not in the war. It's only to coax / to get the queen's hearth. This makes my impressions about Bidam's characters totally changed. Firstly, I take a pity in him, but after seeing this part, I feel sick. I admire Yushin more and more. From the beginning of the film until the end, he has no defect at all. He is the real hero, the real good man till the end. Yushin........... I love you.
