I don’t know her popularity in Korea but due to her vast catalog of work I’m assuming she’s on of the top of most people’s best actress list. U can’t help but fall in love with the characters she plays if I could tell her one thing I guess it would be Well Done!!!!

Her appearance is magnificent, her innocence shine through out, i became her fan in just one episode of one kdrama. Mae Mori Mar 18 2024 7:41 am Congratulations for your dual portrayal in Captivating the King. I had to put myself in the Joson Era to understand the customs and the people and royalty. As a baduk player you are dressed differently and it made it easier to understand. Also, your emotions had to be more guarded with the King , as dictated by royal standards. Of course you had to be pretty, to make it believable that the King had a liking for you (and was proven right when you were caught!)! You were perfect for the role , Congratulations!

Captivating the king i could not stop watching and The rookie Historian was same no sleep binging :) I am looking forward to watch more of her filmography list :) Only downside in captivating the king, Se Kyung is way far to beautyful and femenin for a man not to notice. I guess Joseon men just had bad eyesight or were too occupied with personal matters to notice her attraction even in mans clothes ;)

She is magnificent in this production actually she's wonderful in all genres but this particular production demanded so much more from its actors and they did their very best. This production is one that I will not forget nor her performance.

She has the most interesting face not one that's common amongst Asian people but interesting nonetheless. I always watch foot pieces two people against the world and an antagonist making their life miserable, because they well done and usually share some education on different subjects. As always, kudos Korea for giving me the best entertainment.

In my area, there are currently no additional, series or movies in which Shin Se-Kyung is acting, it is a pity as I really would love to see more of her movies or series.

Researched about her a bit and watched her previous roles, couldn't get enough of her charm. She's really good. Apart from Rookie Historian, I also love her in Black Knight. Currently watching her in Girl Who See Scents and loving her there as well. She's a really great actress

I like it when Yo Ah In was crying like crazy and she just stood there and held her head high, not crying but her eyes and expression says she is tormented. She wanted to hug him and showed him that she loves him, but she can't. She portrayed Boon Yi as a great leader who put her people first, she cried only when her subordinate died. And i really love her portrayal as a tough woman in SFD.

After watching SFD, i starts to watch her other works, such as: Tazza 2, Tree with deep root, sensory couple and fashion kings. And i love her even more lol. She is so cute in sensory couple and makes me smile ear to ear seeing her acting as lover with yoongchun. She plays really well in tazza, fierce and funny, i love seeing her with TOP.

I hatednher character and that made me to naturally dislike any subsequent drama she acts from bride of the water God to that drama that she sees colours. But this particular drama, Black Knight changed my perspective and I love the drama and her acting, I am still watching the drama, let's hope for the best (fingers crossed)

Unfortunately I have only watched the last two dramas of hers and they have had a lot of sad episodes in them. I wish they would give her a role with more range and I think then everyone will see how good she is.

I make sure to get updated with her acting works since she acted with a lot of great male partners and great dramas like Deep Rooted Trees, TGWSS, TBOTWF, TAZZA, Hindsight and SITS. Fashing King and Blade man were plain bad though. Anyway, fighting unnie!

Haven't seen her in anything else that I remember, but she's really good in this. I guess, the best way to say it is, I believe she is the character she portrays. Don't know what she's like in real life, but this character is totally likable. She's like the best of my fiance, on steroids. Direct, innocent, involved, natural, deep but with simple approach, good attitude, and 'not so bad on the eyes'. Hope to see her do lots more work.

Alie Apr 13 2015 12:34 am Shin Se Kyung is an excellent lady & I honestly think that she's one of the most beautiful faces in Korea. But it's true that I find SSK's character as Mi Do very cold & it's easy to dislike her. Her acting on WAML is kind of *just* okay for me.

But when I watched Blade Man, oh my Blade Man *O*, I just fell in love. I fell in love with Son Se Dong & Joo Hong Bin. But what really made me root for this show until the end was SSK. Her role as Son Se Dong was magnificent. I remember watching Pinocchio & Blade Man, but I stopped Pinocchio at Ep.5 bc I really like to focus on Blade Man. I finished Blade Man & it was the last kdrama that I *finished 'till the end* as of now. Idk why, but I think it's because of Son Se Dong.

Her role as Se Dong was expected to be light & funny but SSK showed me a lot of surprises. Whenever I see or hear the name Son Se Dong, I actually feel nice bc I remember SSK's character.

So, just this Thursday, I decided to watch another Kdrama but I don't know what to watch. Sensory Couple appeared right before me & the first face I saw was that of Shin Se Kyung's. I immediately opened the link because I was really happy that SSK has a new show. I was surprised that the main lead would be Yoo Chun, I think I have my OTP rn omg ♥

So, knowing deep in myself that I would like to watch this drama because there's Shin Se Kyung in it, I watched episode 1. AND WOW ASDFHCIUAGSCLAUIA IT WAS FANTASTIC. I WASN'T BORED (UNLIKE OTHER DRAMAS WITH REALLY HIGH RATINGS) & THE MYSTERIES WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL. I HOPE I COULD WATCH EPISODE 5 RN BUT I WILL WAIT 'TILL I SEE MY SSK & PYC AGAIN.

To me, I like her character Son Se Dong. Because this character suits her. Lee Dong Wook and Shin Se Kyung acted excellent, they convey the inner character very well. Their eyes are acting so great., soul of eyes! Love this.

I suspect jealousy is the main reason why some people rundown her acting and I also suspect the majority of these people are very young, therefore very unperceptive; hence there are many things that they cannot understand unless plainly said. I also believe many of them just look at the pictures without understanding what is being said. For instance in "When a man loves a woman" it was fear that made her reject the lead actor who as far as she was concerned was a cold hearted gangster that terrorised her family, who would fall for such a guy? but she fell for the younger guy because he seemed human. At the end of the drama, she had come to understand who the lead actor really was, she now saw him as a kind hearted gentleman who valued her, this change her feelings towards him. In Blade Man she is wonderful too.

thanhnguyen Oct 28 2014 9:14 pm I have to say the chemistry between Le Dong Wook and Shin Se Kyung is palpable and brings life into Le Dong Wook. They are explosive on screen and just feed so well off each other on screen that I can't get enough.

I love Son Se-Dong. She's cute, oblivious, driven, passionate, and of course loving and self-less. You'd have to be a moron not to love her and find her utterly cute. SSK just brings this character to life. The boys seemed to be more so her children than younger brother-like. And she just cares. You would never lose with SSD in your life and SSK must have that in her to convey her so well on screen. Working with LDW is great. Even without this show ending, want them already pegged for another drama together. Excellent! We love this drama.

Only reason is because as a part of the population that has not had any acting experience, she needs to have that skill that grabs people's attention immediately in a story. Knowing what would grab the common people's attention and make the character come to life is an actor's job. She just needs to be a little more convincing in her characters, in my opinion. To be fair, had it been any other top actresses playing her role, I would've still rated Fashion King and When A Man Loves 3-4/10. Her acting isn't spectacular but it's fine. If you play a hateful character and gets hated for it, it means you successfully pulled off that role, which is why she won the acting award. If there's anything you should really be focusing your blame on, it's the storyline. Look at the drama ratings, even your godlike Seunghun oppa can't raise the ratings cos it's the storyline that sucks

It's true that the last 2 characters she played sucked, but she played them well. Hopefully she makes better choices in the future, so people can get over "Fashion King" and When a Man Loves.

For me i hated her in that drama series which means her acting is effective to me so i think they hated her because of her role so it means it's effective to them that's why they are basing her. I would say if you hate her why are you watching her drama series? just to bash oh come on people.Anyway, but in last episode of drama series i started to like her..This is the 2nd Korean drama that makes me cry a lot and this one is now my favorite i keep watching this over and over. Even though i know already the story i can't still control my emotion i am still crying in some scenes. For me Shin Se-kyung is a good actress and i like her a lot :). Now i have 2 korean idols :) Bae Suzy and Shin Se-Kyung! Fighting!! :) Im hoping that i will me my 2 idol :) Haters gonna hate! Get over it people.

She is able to to employ accents and body language with improvisation and emulation. I have seen her in her latest tv series and i think she was able to portrayed the character.

fans May 18 2012 12:12 am I only knew Shin Se Kyung through a funny laughing drama that is High Kick!3 but i always forget your name , now through fashion king drama not only i can remember your name very well, and suddenly i also know Lee Je Hoon......

I liked Eugene Kim very much , at that time i could not find the orignal soundtrack of save your last dance for me in Singapore, no choice i bought it through courier from Taiwan and sent to my country Singapore as it was limited edition released & distributed by Ponycanyon Korea INC.

I hope i got chance to watch again korea funny laughing drama that you plus Lee Je Hoon acts.....

In fashion King Shin Se Kyung and Lee Je Hoon the face always looked the same that is very glum......, maybe next time both of you can try mystery drama.......

Noomi Rapace was great, but if you've read the books, you'll realize how much the Swedish versions came off as glorified TV movies (especially the 2nd and 3rd ones) and didn't do the books justice at all compared to Fincher's take, which many people (including me) found more artistically successful. Rooney Mara was phenomenal - edgy, compelling, intimidating yet vulnerable - as Lisbeth, and I don't know why you'd think Shin Se-Kyung is somehow more suitable than her.
