Long time low key fan Mar 24 2019 8:51 am I've liked him since Ketai Sosakan 7, his acting impressed me then. I've always been wishing for so long that he has more main roles in the future, and he did! I'm just really proud and happy for him. His acting is always on point, whatever kinds of characters he portray. He can act as dark characters, and even more so as comical ones which I really enjoy seeing him in. He's so versatile and his roles always catch my attention no matter how small.

I remember a few years back I read a comment from a Japanese netizen in an article about his marriage, saying in a rude manner how they don't know who he is and that no one cares about him. So to watch him come this far, to have more people recognise his potential and giving him opportunities to show his talent, makes me happy. He might still be a little underrated, but to me, he'll always be one of my childhood favourites.

I hope he will be given much more opportunities to develop his acting skill and voice acting skill as well. Oh..., and he did a great job in portraying Smoky >< (!!!) Hope that his newest drama, My Moochy Boyfriend will get good responses from many people. Someday, I'd like to see him in romance drama or movie (but not as a moochy man ×D).

Sugoi..... whether he act as a young cute teenager or spoiled teenager, the bad and multilayer personality light yagami or funny and easygoing arisugawa, the kindness and understanding also romantic hikaru-kun vs the kindness and understanding also romantic Naruse-kun. He's 대박 ^_^ I imagine he must be good in acting like an arrogant and smart scientist or the handsome cold personality with less expression like 'sundere' type. I am now a fan!! ???? tokyo Ghoul is super worth it. I didn't expect that much given the genre of the movie but they did justice. Gooosh i am stunned. ???

Because he is one of the best actor so far. he can do multiple personalities, so far he did many differents characters. So yup ... whether in romance, action, thriller, mystery, psychology drama, etc, because of his wide range of abilities to portray these. I would like to say he is so talented actor who can do any kinds of characters so far. I agree with some comments here, I want him in romance drama (maybe a lot of crying scenes with those puppy eyes), bec his eyes is so beautiful when he did a crying scene (in DN, he cries so beautifully. O.M.G even his crying scene is so beautiful). I really want to watch his other drama with romance as the theme center (it would be good), in action also (maybe like one of "healer" kind of thing he...he...he...). Really I can see many GOOD PROJECT 4 him in the future and I'm sure he will "ACE" whateva characters he got to portray next time. U ARE SO...SO TALENTED ACTOR Kubota-Kun ;-)

zelle Nov 09 2016 3:55 am At first when I saw that he will play as Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul, my reaction was like... WHAAATT??? NO WAYYY!!!! he dont look like kaneki at all!! not a bit! SInce he looks kinda mature and kaneki give of that cute young good boy aura. SO initially i though he wont fit for the character. But after watching Death note 2015 and how he played out as Light which had anxiety issues.. well i changed my mind. His internal struggle portrayal will be definitely good and this will be like a main point for acting as kaneki since kaneki is also always undergoing mental struggles and internal conflict. I hope he really does well.

I think Kubota isn't unfamiliar to portray innocent and badass Kaneki. I love his new hairstyle, he's so hot and handsome.

mei May 26 2016 8:06 pm i watch a lot of masataka-san drama because of the lead but end up watching a lot of masataka-san work. i watch masataka-san on summer nude, death note, n no tameni, Kano Uso, legal high, Mars, Nazotaki, Limit. even in some drama you are not a lead drama, but your work always give a deep impression. i will wait for your next drama. i hope to see you in a romance drama where your role end up happy.

Thana Apr 22 2016 8:02 pm I first knew him from ST and loved his character in there. However, I stopped watching any Japanese drama after this. Until this year, until Criminologist Himura and Mystery Writer Arisugawa, and I fell in love with his character and him as an actor. At first, I thought he is just a very cute guy, but then I watched DN and was amazed by his acting skills. Also, Smoky in High & Low is badass. He perfectly delivered all the characters he has played. Whether it is a psychopath, an adorable author with a cute Kansai accent, kickass gang leader, or a gentle boy with GID( I have spent the last month on watching everything he was in, at least the ones I find). I'm going to Japan this summer, and I hope I could watch the H&L movie, just can't have enough Smoky in my life.

I'd thought he was a good actor who looked like a hobo and was good at portraying laid-back characters until I watched Death Note. He was impressive, showing gradation of Light's emotions, and transition of his character. I hope he will receive more major work, and challenging roles.

14DC Apr 04 2016 8:06 pm I have checked his other work, and I love him in ST every minutes he is in, just hope he speaks more because I really love his voice, especially his deep voice as KIRA like in the last episode of DN drama series. Makes me feel goosebumps, more than his anime counterpart. In The Liar and His lover, his acting is really good even if he is just in some scenes. And from the first sight I can tell his character is distance from other band members. Just wonder if he really can play bass. (and one more I want to hear his voice because he actually can sing) N no Tame Ni is really the best drama. I fall in love once more with him. I just have to have this drama.... And just because I like his voice, I want to buy Mars so I can hear him read his diary psycopath in episode 9 and 10. He really deserves more main role than that. Hopefully he will have more role as the lead, then I will buy that so I can really support him.

And I just realize he has star in at least 10 movies Gachiban series, why aren't them listed? He can play badass character and even got award. Really love how in shape his body is...
