Ryo Nishikido was formally a member of 2 J-pop groups, Kanjani8 and NEWS. Late 2011 he formally left NEWS, but remained as a member of Kanjani Eight.
Talent agency Johnny & Associates announced on September 1st, 2009 that actor Ryo Nishikido was diagnosed with the Type A influenza on August 31, 2009.[1] Ryo Nishikido will not appear in the September 4th airing of "The Dog of Orthros" due to his illness. Fellow band member of "NEWS" Tomohisa Yamashita was also diagnosed with Type A influenza.

Samantha Apr 28 2015 2:27 pm Ryo, Toma and Nino are the only Johnnys actors i enjoy watching nowadays. Ryo's character isn't as outgoing as the other two but he has this weird personality that is oddly attractive. And if you have seen him as a singer in his TWO boybands you'll be even more confused. I have always kept a lookout for his projects after watching him in Last Friends. As someone who was exposed to domestic violence I thought his portrayal of the aggressor was quite on point, and heartbreaking. His comedic timing is surprisingly good as well in Gomen ne Seishun. I wish he can take on darker roles, I have no doubt in his versatility, but he seems to be less active after 'the smartphone incident'. Either that or he is content with his role in kanjani8 and group varieties (where he hardly speaks). Pick up more acting projects Ryo!!

Shelby Mar 13 2014 1:29 pm Apparently Ryo doesn't like Ueda or Kame but mostly Ueda from KAT-TUN because when Kame was telling Ryo not to question his ambitions because Ueda was very sensitive, Ryo started to question him more and than about a year later said "I hate Ueda more than anyone in Johnny." Ryo is very cute though :D he may be the next person I'm falling in love with. xD

Later I started listening to News and then I liked him. You should doo the same if you don´t know him ( listen to News first). His best drama: Last Friends, no doubt.

Mitzmin Aug 11 2009 9:30 am Love him. But I think this new drama he is making (Othros no Inu) sucks. Seriously, the plot is terrible and none of the actors are well on it. I loved Last friends (where he played Sousuke), t'is one of the BEST dramas I've ever watched. To begin knowing him better try watching last friends and ryusei no kizuna. You should try listening to News.
