In the movie "I want to be a shellfish", it's clearly an anti-war film, nicely portrayed and who even't thought past feeling that the barber's fate was unjust ? but this is perhaps where the dangers lies. The novel was only one sided, so what are we going to expect about the story of the movie. I do believe we should understand that the past is just that and move on to an extent, but at the same time, playing up only one side of the story is ridiculous and dangerous, not that we don't do it too.

Unfortunatily it's not all about knowledge today, it differs depending on the cultural perspective.

JEFF BUSCH Feb 20 2018 9:23 pm For 43 years I have known a POW of Kato's. He actually worked in Kato's office in the POW camp. This movie is such an inverse to actual facts that it is a complete and absolute lie. There is such desecration of your honour in the production of this movie that you shame yourself and all others that you included in this sham of a movie. Tetsutarô Katô was sentenced to death for many reasons. That is the basic fact. He was no barber but the well educated son of a wealthy family who bribed General McAuthur's entourage to commute his death sentence to 30 years hard labour. Then when the Japanese government took over the prison he was let go. Still he was guilty of actions that must retain a death sentence.

You shamed yourself by glorifying this low life dirt bag of a man.
