There is nothing wrong with playing supporting roles as long as it helps them become better in their craft.

selma Aug 29 2015 8:44 am Masahiro Higashide is such an underrated actor not only is he much more naturally handsome and attaractive than many idol actors, he is such a talented actor, I noticed many peope say that they were not disappointed with his rendition of manga characters and that's what proves that he is a truly skilled, smart actor, when he was cast in xxHolic, he literally became domeki and he was also very convincing in ao haru ride and bone chilling in parasite, just wish to see more of him in the future

I've seen so many films where he acts, and each time I've thought "OMG, it seems like Japanese actors are great, but they have all the same faces and voices!" ...instead, two months ago I found it was really the same actor. I'm feeling so stupid, but... I'm glad for having had the opportunity to appreciate Higashide Masahiro-san during all this years (even if without the knowledge it was actually him xD but it's my fault, I'm not asian so it's not a habit for me to recognize different asian lineaments). Even though my ignorance confused me, now I can finally say that I'm one of his most committed fans. I've to admit also that even if I really love the Japanese culture, atmospheres and costumes, I was not absolutely fond of Japanese and Korean movies and dramas, 'cause they are too different from my personal ideal of "masterpieces" (I mean, European or American old films and Colossals), because I've always thought I couldn't like that kind of acting (sometimes a bit forced, in my opinion). With Higashide-san (and also with many others, but mainly with him) I have understood that there aren't actors of quality only in the West. He opened my mind, so now I can have a different critical approach to Oriental movies, even if is a kind of Cinema I'm not used to, yet. I want to say "Thanks" to him for his incredible work (and even because searching info on the web I found he's also a very good person besides a great actor). I know it's just my opinion, and I'm not a professional critic or reviewer, but I needed to share it. Someday I would like to tell him these things personally :') buuuut it's quite difficult I think, ahah. It would be amazing, and I'll pray for it, if far more people around the world would support him like me and it's sad to see that here in Italy he is not widely known.

KiraQiela12 Jul 21 2015 12:53 am I watched Ao Haraido before I watched Parasyte Part 1. In Ao Haraido, Higashide-san looks charming with sad-looking eyes and damn hot pokerface. But when I watched Parasyte Part 1 and seeing Higashide-san with that wide smile, I was like, "Why are you so creepy???" He looks like a mad clown ready to pop your head up!

Nevertheless, he still good with both characters, anyway :)
