clannad Feb 15 2016 6:56 pm Im watching Goddess of Marriage with my mom, so I decided to check her out because I couldnt tell her age. :0 Anyway, looking at the other comments [one or two of them pretty stupid/ignorant], gave me pause to think about her acting. I didnt finish Joseon Gunman, but from what I remember, she was cool. In Goddess of Marriage, her character is may be a bit morose. A previous commenter said her acting was "stilted". At the same time, I consider the script writers. The topic of screenwriters come up quite a bit at our house when watching Korean shows. Considering this page is for Sang Mi, not writers, for right now Ill just say many of these shows are lacking do to writing. So when I think of her acting in Goddess of Marriage, I think about the writers, and then the directing. I already know shes capable of more, so why act so"morose", as I see it, or "stilted" like someone else said? I think the answer lies more with writing and directing. All these characters are so one-dimentional, stereotyped, assembly-line Korean archetypes, frankly it gets very tiresome. In fact, all the emotion I expend reacting to the show is directly due to the contrived, unrealistic, and lazy, writing of the scriptwriters. There is no representational "human drama" in many of the shows; there IS lots of drama created between characters that wouldnt exist in the real world, creating situations that wouldnt exist in the real world. Im essentially watching fantasy.

You see, the entertainment world is very much open to all, maybe you should try to audition or so and let's see if you could still say that Nam Sang-Mi doesn't belong to the entertainment world. The're maybe some (like you) who doesn't like her acting but there are also a lot who like and support her. You should first learn something about RESPECT before you leave some UNBEARABLE comments. Do not judge, not even try to insult others 'coz you may have a lot that is way to be judged than that of Nam Sang-Mi's. Respect ey, RESPECT.

I also agree with @the3maples, what was wrong with a person's part- time job when she/he tried to make a decent living or to support her/his studying by herself/himself ?

I think she`s the one who learned to do it Koo Hye Sun in "BOF", they were girlfriends in real life (may be they are now too - don`t know). I like NSM in TBDAW, Goddess of Marriage, and now in Joseon Gunman. It seems to me NSM is real Hero in Joseon Gunman. I started to watch this drama for Lee Joon Gi, but now I`m more interesting in Nam Sang Mi.

tncdel Mar 17 2013 11:15 pm Looks better than most Korean or other actresses even up close. Excellent facial symmetry. Almost perfectly shaped nose. Gave her a 96%, but would have been higher if her acting was more natural. Her acting ability is a bit stilted at times, but at others she flows. Watching her in Gourmet, earlier her acting seemed contrived. But later in the series she seemed to relax and get into the role. But there was little chemistry between her and the male lead.

She seemed better in Time Between Dog & Wolf, possibly because she had a better male lead to inspire her.
