Kim Sung-Ryong (Namkoong Min) used to manage money for gangs, but by an accidental opportunity, he begins to works as the chief of an accounting department for TQ Company. He struggles to save the decaying TC Company, fighting against corruption and irrationality in the company.

All the cast and writers did a great work with this series, but noticing the details of Kim Won Hae acting as a drunk and realistic sad scenes really ... Wow.

And especially the part how he becomes Nam Kong Mins emotional support and a dad figure for him to cry and openly confessed his fears. It's amazing.

That actor may not get the mainstream attention but he is truly an exceptional actor

Tun Oct 05 2022 8:43 pm I watched it after seeing a random Youtube clip of Namkoong Min and Junho being awarded best couple. I enjoyed the show. It was cute. In the later part of the series, Seo Yul and Myung Suk have become very cute under Chief Kim's influence.

Otherwise, everything else is good. The drama is entertaining and I've cracked a lot of laughs.

1. This drama has one of the best on screen chemistry between Manager Kim and Seo Yul. Their bromance was to die for! It was so interesting to see them portray a love-hate relationship in such a comedic and entertaining way. I loved every second of their interactions on screen.

2. The politics and corruption aspect of the plot was never draggy. It was sustained in a way that flowed really well from episode to episode. The writers really knew how to capture such a heavy plot line in a comedic way. Props to them.

3. Myeong-Seok's character development was so heartwarming to watch. He went from berating the characters to become part of the team and his change was such a nice thing to see in a drama that was this humorous.

4. The main female lead did get a bit annoying, but I found that as the drama went on her motives changed and the plot focused more on Seo Yul and Manager Kim. Definitely a smart move by the writers. Her role was needed but I'm glad they didn't try to force romance between them.

Overall, this drama was such a great watch. I wish there were more dramas with a similar plot line, bromance and character development.

igless1 Apr 18 2022 1:27 am As an Aussie watching this I had quite a few belly laughs. I especially enjoyed Namkoong Min's antics in the Waiting Room. I will have to watch the Veil next and I understand his character is totally different.

SungRyong_Yul Mar 30 2022 6:08 am First noticed him in My Secret Hotel. Just the other day, I finished Good Manager. His character was really one of a kind. This is a highly recommended drama. Not to mention, the added bromance in the final episodes as worst enemies (Manager Kim and Director Seo Yul) turned into the best of friends. Can't believe it was a thing in 2017 and I'm only watching it now. Everything was just perfect. I loved the chemistry of the whole cast.

Hong Ka Eun's character was really pretty. Prosecutor Han's lowkey crush on her was cute too.

Dong Ha was absolutely admirable and funny when his character turned into a new leaf. I can't stop laughing about the scene where he imitated the voice of his father during a phone call. I first saw him in Suspicious Partner where he played a criminal. So I was astonished that he could pull off a whole different character on this one.

Also, I was shocked to see Chief Hong in this one. Haha.

123apple Mar 03 2022 1:33 pm The only kdrama I've ever rewatched. Ignore the comments saying that the female lead is annoying. She stops that at around the 6th episode and becomes one of the best female characters you'll watch. Her only competition being the other female characters in the K-Drama.

Chief Kim isn't your typical main character. He's pretty much an anti-hero. If you're into that, you'll love this drama.

Despite the many villains in this drama Lee, the only character I found annoying was Lee Jae Joon.

Lyra Apr 15 2021 5:30 am Wonderful and hilarious drama. Nam Goong Min is an impressive actor, he portrayed Chief Kim so well. Jun Ho was amazing as Seo Yul too. Their chemistry was superb and they got the Best Couple Award. Lots of scenes got me laughing nonstop and I love the side characters like Ga Eun, Mr Choo, Gwang Sook, Sang Tae. The OST is simply amazing. I’m glad that Ha Kyung improved her attitude as the drama progressed. However, I wanted to see the back story of Seo Yul about why he decided to quit and join TQ. Overall a very fun and entertaining drama with no boring scenes. Will definitely rewatch again!

Guesser Mar 21 2021 9:54 pm Just finished this, it was fun. But main complaint is that Chief Kim didn't use his accounting skills at all to solve problems. The setup is that he's a math wizard, but it was barely used throughout the story.

Also disappointed that we didn't see Kim interacting with the others in the year after.

Even so, had fun watching it.

Why you ask?

It's because the main character's attitude and methods towards challenging circumstances. They really are the opposite of what a normal people will react. That's why it's hilarious to see and then it picks up your curiosity of what is his true plan. There are character development which is always great to see cuz it makes you feel like you're apart of it, which then creates relatable memories with the characters. It feels like you're there too sometimes.

Thumbs up for the performance of NamGoong Min and Lee Jun ho, both are stellar and so cute when they are in the scene together. Kim Won Hae is absolutely amazing too and I like him in many drama. He always nailed his character. What surprise me is Dong Ha, he is definitely a true star judging from his performance in this drama. Must watch!

What saddens me the most is there are a lot of people who don't even know about this Drama. What they always talk about are those hit shows (no offence to those shows and I won't name any of them). I still feel its one of the most underrated Drama.

Dive Sep 24 2019 3:45 pm I need more dramas like this! Know any drama? Please recommend! Nam Goong Min's interpretation of Chief Kim was just brilliant! Of course I adore the other characters as well. Jun Ho definitely got my attention. I didn't know him before this drama. I don't think I will like him in other roles. I think I will always remember him as Seo Yool. Special mention also to ahjussi Kim Won-Hae who's all over kdrama land. Most series tackling conglomerates corruption or politician's corruption tend to be melodramatic and full of tragedy so I didn't watch much in the genre since I am into romcom. This series handled well the plot with wit and with comedy. I laughed and enjoyed each episode. I must say that I think the writers did a great job in handling the romance. There was no wrap up conclusion to the romance except the bromance which was very solid at the end. Nobody of the main characters ended up with anybody. That was better since I would have felt bad that someone will be labeled as the "second-lead" who didn't get the female lead. I believe this should have gotten more awards. Bow.

nuneo Aug 16 2019 5:52 pm Honestly the main reason i watched this is because of Junho. But after i read reviews and watched some snippets, they seemed convincing so i decided to give a try.

I was surprised because this drama was so good! All the plot, acting, chemistry, humours are just good. Also i love the character developments for Seo Yul and Myungseok.

NGM is such a talented actor! I watched doctor prisoner just before chief kim and this is completely opposite character of him ? He really deserves a praise.

And Junho though, im not being biased but his acting is seriously no joke! Seo Yul as the arrogant and rude director was played very well by Junho. His expressions amazed me the most. I seriously got scared by him everytime he screamed in this drama.

And yes I definitely would recommend people to watch this drama!

kpopandgrime Mar 17 2019 11:51 pm superb drama of the highest quality, this has to be one of the best comedy kdramas out there. I couldnt stop laughing from the first episode to the last and it was such an enjoyable drama (with a nice story to it).

the acting from the whole cast was on a different level and it looked so naturally unlike some other k dramas where you can see the acting is forced and not natural. plus there was chemistry between the whole cast especially the bromance between the 2 male leads.

The plot is so rich and interesting as I watched all the episodes in only 1 dayyy!! Kudos to the writers and producers and staffs for this drama! The storyline is heavy yet light and i really love it!

The actors and actress are really funny and im looking forward for more kdramas! Fighting yeorobunn!!

Tanzania don't speak Tanzanian, our language is called "Kiswahili"

Though I was bit impressed by the Documents shown in episode 19 they were convincing

Tori Jun 15 2018 5:40 pm I honestly expected a romance with Chief Kim or Seo Yul and Ms. Yoon... I never expected that I'd end up shipping the two male leads though lmao. But they have the best chemistry in the series. Ms. Yoon was cute although her character was a bit bland at times. I tried shipping her with the male leads but I wasn't able to. Instead, she looked adorable with the Chairman's son, especially when she comforted him and reassured him that he was a good person. I loved Ga Eun so much. The fight she got into with the "Evil Witch" was hilarious. Kim Won Hae is an amazing actor and I was able to feel the emotions he expressed throughout the series. I got really attached to the entire Business Operations Team. The loyalty and virtue they possessed as a whole and as individuals really won my heart over. The chairwoman was so beautiful and kind, I love her so much. Overall, all of the characters in this show were amazing and I really love them all. Mr. Lee's wife was also wonderful. It's touching how she was willing to go up against powerful officials and risk her life to avenge her husband's attempted murder. The cleaning lady was also one of my favorites. She was so cute and funny!!! I really really love NGM and Junho in this series as well. Their acting was flawless and I'm really hoping for another season.

CKW Feb 16 2018 2:43 am Hilarious drama. Very fun to watch. The plot might not be anything to rave about but the performances are. NGM, Junho, Sangmi trio are incredible, they alone carry this show into stratospheric area of fun. NGM and Junho especially deserve much recognition for their performances here. The supporting cast are hilarious too, Kim Won Hae is almost always the best comic relief in shows but here Kim Jae Hwa wipes the floor with her hilarious performance.

I'd love to watch more dramas with this cast. Junho definitely is among the best idol actor. So underrated. Laughing at the best couple award as well. So deserved xD

Kawai Feb 10 2018 6:36 am I got tired of Kdramas and this is what made me watch again lol I just finished watching this drama and i so regret that I neglect to watch when it was still airing! Love love love NGM and Junho here, this is too funny and i love the love-hate relationship between the characters! The casts compliment each other well so no one overshadowed anyone. This is my second time seeing NGM in a comedy and he's still funny lmao

This is the first time that I saw Junho and gosh, even if he's so evil, i want to kiss him hahahhaaahhaha however, the ultimate scene stealer for me was that Ahjussi in every drama, Kim Won-Hae. He's really a great actor and i'm surprised that he only has 1 award to date! Aigoo, are they blind or what?! Anyway, kudos to the writers because they wrapped it up well.

I love the fact that they did not focus on love and it did not became cheesy. I still ship that Noona relationship though, Junho and Sang-mi has great chemistry hahahha

The office scenes was so relatable minus the drama maybe that's why i enjoyed watching it.

The bathroom scene of NGM was so funny! It's a must watch *winks*

I also just found out that they offered it to Cha Tae Hyun first, I love CTH, but i can't picture him in this role.

I love him since remember ughhh his villain character in that still make me hate him but after i watched this drama my opinion on him change!!! He is so versatile in acting! They are just like cat and mouse so funny. The plot of this drama is really good. It's a nice drama for you who are interested to watch it!

Ash Dec 28 2017 2:54 am So much fun to watch. I'm so glad I gave it a chance even though I was doubtful at the beginning. The pacing is nice and there's rarely moments of boredom. The actors did a stellar performance. I think the makeup is fine too. What I really loved was how each character had their own ideals and didn't use any common tropes. No one was used as emotional leverage against one another and they worked together perfectly as a team.

Sungryong and Myungseok were my personal favourites, but every interaction between our good guys was great and lovable.

If you're looking for a fun, character-driven, laughter-inducing drama, then I recommend this

It is distracting and annoying watching these men wearing obvious lipstick in the shades of orange. I don't know why anyone would think orange lips are attractive even on women. Make-up for men is not supposed to be noticeable. Make-up for women should look natural and not make them look like a clown with dayglow orange lips. It is hard to take these actors seriously when they look painted and out of place.

I really like how the characters grow as the story progresses. And you don't need to be a know it all about accounting or finance just to get a good grief of this drama. Goodness. I don't think I will ever moved on with this drama.

Namgoong Min played his character so exceptionally well in this drama and his fight to restore rationality and integrity back into the office workplace. I really love the fact the drama didn't focus so much on romance but more on the character development of each character... which is so important. I think I was really impressed with Lee Junho character Seo Yool the most he was so arrogant and rude, obsessed with authority I love every moment he had with Namgoog Min up until a bromance finally took lead way and the two became friends. Chief Kim is worth a watch all the way to the end. I will even go as far to say watch it twice after finishing first time! Great job to the writers!

donut Jun 20 2017 10:50 pm For those who are on the fence in watching this drama or for those who are fearing that it'll be a waste of time, let me just tell you this: this drama was casted perfectly. Every actor/actress embodied the character so well and the dynamics between each character is natural. The scenes are heartfelt, comedic, and just gives a great feeling overall. You will not go an episode without dying of laughter by NGM's acting or his unexpected behavior. There will be some scenes where you will have to pause the episode and take a minute to laugh at his genius acting and expressions, I fking died at his scenes the most.

To be completely honest, Nam Sung Mi was an alright actress and at times plain compared to the other cast members, however, her role was played well and it did not hinder the plot or my feelings about the drama at all.

About the plot, it was written well. Note that there is little romance, actually barely any, just subtle hints which I loved. The focus on comedy in this drama was what kept me watching it. Having said that, Chief Kim became number 2 on my all time favorite kdramas. First place belongs to It's Okay, That's Love ofc no drama can ever replace that drama. If you want another kdrama rec, there's one haha. IOTL was a beautifully written drama, a well chosen cast, each actor/actress were made for the fking role. Their chemistry (between the cast) was amazing and natural af. The main couple were suited for each other. It is a heartfelt drama that is very much real and strikes close to reality. You will NEVER find another kdrama like IOTL. Okay that's all for now haha enjoy these two dramas!

Bet it will haunt me for days or weeks, it also can be months! I also love the comedy, I was warned before watching to not watch it in night time, but I didn't so every time I watch, my parents wake up and got angry at me. I also love the non-romance, although everytime the song "how it happens" play (non-spoiler) I get that 'kilig' al over my body! I really love how they added that on the end!

And top of that, it teaches us all so many reasons. I really am inspired with chief Kim, every trial that comes on the way, you should be positive! I swear I would die to look for a realy actual Chief Kim. Every boss should think like him!

As an accounting student who work as an accounting assistant i really appreciate the story line because the writer pull off the fraud in accounting business and i am hoping there would be really a chief kim who will stand to correct the corruption and fraud within the company

2017 was really great as i was become addicted again after defendant and teacher kim not to mention goblin

Hope the kdrama will concentrate more on law business and bromance

Hope they will get award.. I am torn between defendant romantic doctor and chief kim for baesang award both were brilliantly written and directed and play great by actors

Anyway congratulation chief.. Aja!!!

The mood of this drama is consistently funny.. i LMAO and cried (a bit) to some heartfelt scenes..LOL.. Thumbs up to the writer and crews.. Every single cast is PERFECT to the character they're portraying.. They act so well.. Look forward to Park Myung Suk.. He's a natural.. LOL..

P.S. There is a time that i wished that there will be romance between HK and SY, but bromance took place instead.. and it was greatly portrayed by Chief Kim and Seo Yool.. That made this drama even funnier.. Their bromance is way better that what HK and SY might have together..(i think) LOL

And, I can see there is some of Beautiful Mind cast in this drama as I love that drama too. Just finished watching this in Malaysia and it is highly recommended for anyone who want to relieve their stress from studies or works~ Aja! ^^

I've suffering depression for quite awile. But watching this drama make me feel happy & touch. Im able to smile & laugh again. My heart feel so joyful. I learn a lot especially from Chief Kim character to be full of positive energy, funny, sentimental, creative & great friendship with everyone...etc.

I waiting & look forward for Chief Kim 2 with the same great cast. Nam Goong Min as Vhief Kim, Junho & Dong Ha is a MUST cast.

Mya Apr 06 2017 6:53 pm My Favourite Drama Ever! Which is saying something, considering the hundreds of dramas I have watched up till now. I've never had a drama which could 100% satisfy me as I'd always have something to nitpick about. Or the ending would ruin the show.

But Chief Kim is such an amazing drama that you won't have regrets. It's a work of art and I respect everyone who was involved. Of course Nam Goong Min is the major reason as to why this drama is brilliant, but the overall plot, writing, and all the characters bring life to this workplace comedy. There is some romance but not between the leads. The bromance however is freaking adorable!

The best thing about this show is the comedy. Nothing feels repetitive or forced to make us laugh, and everything feels so natural that by episode 20 you'll be asking yourself how you got to the end. I wish this drama could win a Daesung award!

Although it is hilarious, comedy office drama, but a lot of emotion when I watched it. The emotion when we see injustice but we can do nothing. The angry feeling because when some can take off easily because of corruption. The feeling to be better person than yesterday. Also the writers have resumed to cheap shots with groin jabs and watching P### because they can't fill the time with substance. How many episodes were they going to devote to the "Hall Chair" waiting room. One of my favorite actors was reduced to being a sideshow. Looking past all that ....I still liked this drama. Why because it's Namgung Min and he rocks it.

MM Mar 15 2017 10:19 am Yeah.. I must agree with Lala.. he is supposed to be very very good with numbers but he hasn't shown that side of him to help the TQ company employees at all.. I mean AT ALL. There were times when I really laughed out loud.. but to be honest the tone of the series is quite boring. I think I had too high expectation for this show as there have been many rave reviews about it. The show's pace is too slow for my taste and there are unreasonable things at times.

The good thing about this show is the acting of all actors and actresses. Despite characters being unreasonable, that's the thing which keeps me going with this show.

And he is very good in keeping the accounts / book of the gang. He must be very good in numbers (accounting in particular), however as at today or Ep 14 .. I have yet to see his prowess in numbers to help TQ employees or his team. That is my biggest dissapointment for now.

He is a good actor, I like him in his previous dramas but he overacts here. Sorry. But, this drama is good, overall! I am still hooked..! Highly recommended.

I really like this drama, because chief kim is like a tricky man, smart and mystery too. Even though he funny and happy, i know that will be a lot saddest story behind his happy attitude.

It is not heavy drama like the others.

I love him as villain or hero or any kinda role.. He is just a superb actor who can blow life into any character.. N that's what he did with Chief Kim.. Plus the story is too good n balanced with humor n sentiments.. I loved d leading ladies.. Both r support Chief Kim.. The second lead Lee soon jo is cute n is doing his best as negative.. linda Feb 14 2017 7:37 am @Iambambi no thats the whole point the show isn't for global viewers it is for kirean viewers, also vietnamese isn't a race its an ethnicity. your ethnicity isn't to be made fun of but its a friendly joke between countries, here in europe we call belgians dumb and there are loads of jokes on french tv abt the english, so what i mean is don't take offence in something so small. and don't call it racist because koreans and vietnamese are the same race and you can't be racist towards yourself.

Actually when I heard that it also entered my mind that this one will be an issue...It's not being a sensitive but I agree with @lambambi if he (or she) found it offensive..In the U.S., the people here who we know are one of the most open minded people are so sensitive when it comes to their race.. @Chillax try to be more sensitive... Though I still love the drama...I really find it hilarious and can't still wait for the next episode..

I know that all of them are t like that just as all people arent racist. However, this drana expressed the lack of consideration, exspecially when being used to curse at someone. I understand its meant as a joke, to make the audience chuckle on the side. It is what makes its so offensive, my race isnt suppoed to be chuckled at or looked down upon. Its not called being sensitive, its called being knowledgeable about this type of oppression, exspecially when its being used in the media in which global viewers are watching. It was in the middle of the conflict when Chief Kim called the other man a Vietnamese Dog seller. SERIOUSLY?!? now, i cannot picture anyone else other than nam goongmin acting as chief kim! this character needs a look and aura of a sly but also charming and playful person! i think due to namgoong min's diverse roles he has acted before, this role is like, written for him!
