Kenshin Himura (Takeru Satoh) goes up against pure evil Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara) who is attempting to overthrow the Meiji government. The fate of the country hangs in the balance as Kenshin Himura takes up the sword that he vowed to never draw again.

Based on popular manga series "Rurouni Kenshin" written & illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki (published in Weekly Shonen Jump from September 2, 1994 – November 4, 1999).
Filming began July 1, 2013 and finished December 27, 2013. Filming took place in Ibaraki, Yamagata, Kumamoto, Shiga, Hyogo, Kyoto, Nagano, Tochigi, Chiba, Kanagawa and Tokyo, Japan. More than 5,000 extras were used for the film.

ga Aug 23 2014 6:02 am Had been anticipating the film since the first one ended exceedingly well, and I just finished watching it and I was impressed all the more. The casting were flawless (i.e Tetsuya-sama as Shishio is spot-on xD), the backdrop, the script, and you gotta give credit to the STUNTS, THE STUNTS blew me away. It was wickedly-exciting and satisfying. The downside is that the plot is kinda crammy like they all tried to fit the story arc in one film but the result was satisfying enough for me to squeal and die waiting for the last installment. A live-action done splendidly well and brilliantly. XD

The battle scenes were really good(and that's from a shoujo fangirl who used to hate shounen: if you watch anime you'll know what i mean). Can't wait for the second installment, a lot of movie goers were throwing a fit earlier because it got cut off..oh,well. love the suspense xD

Chie Samson Aug 20 2014 3:42 pm I find it enjoying to watch. I commented on how the cast portrayed all of the characters while watching the film. Some scenes and characters were disappointing since some animated characters and weapons are really hard to apply on real life action. One of the example is the secret weapon of Cho, that sword which expands and is flexible. But the fight scenes are very real! It is good to watch how the exceptional stunts in the anime version became a real life battle on screen. :) I can't wait on how the Amakakeru Ryuno Hirameki will be taught to Kenshin by his Master :D I also enjoy the rumor of Kenshin though it is not shown that often in the film *Omo*

Hiko shows up by the end of Kyoto Inferno. He has to since his role in teaching Kenshin the final technique plays a vital part in Kenshin's success against Shishio.

He is a character who appears few minutes in all saga. Yes he teach his ultimate tech. but... seriously? If dont show us Soujiro, Aoshi, Saito... In that case... Yes, really unhappy. We can not forget it's a movie, an anime has several episodes and a movie is about two hours. This saga has about 40 episodes, with each episode 20 minutes, do the math. Only two films with two hours each... Everyone wants everything. Tomoe, Oniwanbashu group, Kenshin vs Saito, Fuji with 50 meters, etc... Im sure we will have big surprises. All of you watch the movie and enjoy it, there are no miracles.

In the 3rd indeed will have big fights with Saito. Fight with Usui and Shishio. Im just very curious how they made the fight Kenshin vs Sojiro. I can even imagine

Megas Aug 06 2014 5:57 am Walanghys this is what i saw written. Aoshi in part 2 of the movie is in pursuit of Kenshin cus he knows Kenshin was the best (10 y ago). I dont remember if he will talk about oniwanbashu group. I just know Aoshi wants to kill Kenshin to be the best, the strongest. Something like this.... But i have more... I guy who saw the 2nd film (i dont know where or if he translate from a japonese guy) said the 2nd film is like the 1st with one big difference... The fight scenes. 1st - Good fights. 2nd - Brilliant fights. And 2 hours and a half looks like 5 min. cus the film is very complete, interesting and we want always to see more.

walanghiys Aug 02 2014 1:22 pm in anime aoshi and oniwanbashu with hanya (the masked man) was part of henry takada bodyguards in part 1, but in film gein (allies of yukishiro enishi in anime) and udo jenei act as bodyguard of takada. how will kenashin and aoshi know each other in part 2 of the movie?

Then, the scene when Sojiro breaks his (RK) katana and then the fight with Cho. Finally the battleship of Shishio sama and a war with a lot of fire in kyoto. I saw an interview and the character who plays Sojiro said that the 2nd is not enough and the 3rd film is more intense and will have more surprises. Tired of waiting :@

I told that cuz in the anime from order of Okubo Saito fights with Kenshin just to test him, and its the last time that Kenshin "transforms" to the old hitokiri battousai. (Meanwhile Kenshin learns with his master how to control himself). After that fight with Saito Kenshin have thoughts, one of them are some words of Jinei (says in the live action too). No to mention that Kaoru watch again the hitokiri eyes remembering the fight with Jinei. I think they gave emphasis on that stuff to happen in the 2nd live action. I´m just saying...

The 2014 RK Live Action will be divided into two movies for Kyoto hen, as i understood from a view spoilers. So the 2nd probably will begin with Lord Okubo visitation to the dojo continue to Shishio's battleship and perhaps depiction of the battle at Kyoto. The 3rd, probably will depict Kenshin's training and head to head battle with Shishio and the Juppongatana. I'm so excited with these movies too:-)

Im confused just about one thing - the history of AOSHI... Anyone has knowledge about that?... But the story of Shishio seems to be all in there, very excited to see this one.

His addition in the movie may mean they will also show what went on behind the scenes in the Meiji government while the Kenshingumi/Oniwabanshuu fought the Juppongatana. It might be interesting from an historical POV.
