10 years have passed since legendary F4 members Tsukasa Domyoji, Rui Hanazawa, Sojiro Nishikado and Akira Mimasaka have graduated from Eitoku Academy. Since their departure, the school has been on a steady decline.

Correct 5 is formed at the high school with Haruto Kaguragi (Sho Hirano) as the group's leader. They are worried about the school's steady demise. They decide to find deadbeat students and kick them out of the school.

Haruto Kaguragi likes ordering stuff that makes him look bigger physically. He uses his butler's name for his online orders and receives the items at a convenience store. Oto Edogawa (Hana Sugisaki) works part-time at the convenience store. She also attends the same school as Haruto Kaguragi. Oto Edogawa is actually from a poor family, but she pretends to be from a rich family to fit in at school. Her fiance is Tenma Hase (Taishi Nakagawa) and he attends a rival high school.

Yas Apr 18 2021 10:21 am I didn't want to watch it when it came out since I outgrew school dramas already and I don't think another remake is necessary. But it was actually better than expected, and character development was good. Haruto and Oto are adorable and full of life. I hope there is a second season although I appreciated the ending. Also Utada Hikaru's Hatsukoi fits perfectly in the series. I didn't know what the lyrics meant, but the song and the emotional moments fit perfectly.

haru Feb 03 2021 10:15 pm Team Haruto yes, i said it. at first you'll be all out for Tenma and y'all be Second Lead Syndrome Is So Strong! but Haruto brings out the real Oto. He knows her more and understands her more than anyone. She can be herself around him.

and for those who are comparing it to Hana Yori Dango, you dont have to. Both are totally unique from each other. HanaHare is very independent. it can be great as it is. It is unique as it is. It has its own beauty in its plot, in its characters.

ally Jan 24 2021 10:28 pm i didnt expect to like boys over flowers but my mom inssisted on me watching it so i did and i have to say im completley addicted to this show i am on episode 22 i still need to finish but i just love the drama and the love shown and the music is amazing in the past 2 days i've watched 22 hours of this show i wake up and see the show until i fall asleep which is why i am on episode 22 this season 2 i dont know if i will like but i will find out.

AA Dec 17 2019 12:55 pm Since this is a sequel, I didnt expect high coz it's hard to beat hana yori dango. But after watching it, it is an amazing series. You can feel the resemblance of yori dango but this series has its own story to tell. Casts are great tho, kuddos. Btw, the ending was a cliffhanger so I am expecting part 2.

I love to see when haruto with oto, they look so cute and silly together but i really think that oto supposed to be with tenma. Both of them love each other for a very long time, how can she erase everything for someone she just met ;—;
Megurin is a little bit annoying but she’s so pure and silly, exactly like haruto so i kinda like her character after few episodes. poor airi, she’s there for haruto for the longest time but end up with no one. She may be evil at first, but she was a spoilt child so i kinda understands how she felt :( And her character development is definitely my favourite, i love to see her eating when she’s mad. It’s super cute!! i hope there will be another season where airi will be with sugimaru ? both of them look cute together as a strong couple lol.

Sunshine Jul 05 2019 10:34 am This is my first jdrama and I really loved it (except for the ending but I hope that will be the promise of a next season since its too cliffhanger). I enjoyed this drama bec of 2 things. 1st is bec of Sho Hirano(Haruto) he really did well in his role I could really see haruto in SH. He might be dumb, weird but at least he is real. Tenma for me is too good to be true. He is perfect actually which made his character flat though the actor is good. I tried watching this since I've watched most of BOF but sad to say I'm somehow disappointed bec of their unrealistic male lead. Who the hell would like a guy who'll force himself to a girl he likes? Honestly who? But in hana nochi hare the lead was not rude he might be dumb clueless but he is definitely a man who'll try his best for someone he loves. Both of the male leads in the love triangle really did their best to fight for the girl fairly. 2nd reason I fell in love with the drama is bec of HANA. She is really a good actress. Instead of being annoyed to her bec of her indecisiveness, you'll come to symphatize with her. Her chemistry with Haruto is really amazing but unfortunately they were only given few scenes together (my opinion). I really don't know why others ship oto to tenma when in fact haruto&oto looks even better together. This is a highly recommended jdrama for beginners like me. This drama better have a 2nd season or else I will not watch it again ??. P. S. Please don't make us wait for 3 yrs to continue it we re like clothes left hanging outside bec of that ending

Mei Dec 03 2018 3:28 am Honestly, this drama is SOOOO much better than the original Hana Yori Dango, no offense. I absolutely hated Doumyouji’s character and he was an absolute douchebag and treated Makino like shit. I still remember when he threatened to kill her if she didn’t go to him immediately or some other messed up reason. What a healthy relationship! This drama on the other hand, Haruto and Oto are really comfortable with each other and Haruto and actually respects her as a person, as well as her decisions/opinions, even though he was first extremely upset when she rejected him. And then there’s Tenma who also treats Oto really well and kindly. So thank you for that!

I came to know this drama when I saw Tenma x Oto fan video edits on youtube and seeing how everyone saying Tenma is more like 1st lead, had more scenes with Oto (more hugs and also had a kiss!) and should be the one ended up with Oto I thought "oh he'd be another sweet 2nd lead I'm gonna pity because the main girl chose the 1st lead violent whiny guy instead!" so I was like"ok I'll watch this maybe later, next" but I decided to watched this and omgggggg why everyone is lying?!! Haruto is soooo cute hahahaha this silly dumb boy as leader of C5 never failed to crack me up but he's also so innocent sincere and mature T_T meanwhile Tenma's perfectness scared me so much +_+ like wow how can there be a guy too perfect like him in this world lol

Everyone talked about how the writer seem so biased to Tenma and this is how you should never cast more popular actor to be the 2nd lead but in my opinion even if Oto is in relationship 'officially' with Tenma in all episodes, she's still had way moreee chemistry with Haruto and Haruto also had way more screentimes and better character development than Tenma. So all's good imo lol

Also I lovethe girls friendships in this drama! After Airi jealous evil act I wondering when will Marie Iitoyo character appear she's nowhere to be seen until 4th episode, I thought like will she be another mean girl battling Oto for Tenma (wince we know Airi is the mean girl battling Oto for Haruto), I kinda hope so because Marie Iitoyo x Taishi Nakagawa = Ninon x Kira anyoneeee?? lol but turns out she's another love interest for Haruto but thats good because Haruto is love <33 but I still screaming internally when Tenma Oto Megurin Haruto has double date and Oto Haruto has their bickering and chemistry moment I always like "Okaaaaayyy Tenma Megurin Kira Ninon lets leave them and you should just be together instead!!" lol anyway back to the girl friendships, Konno onee-san, Airi and Megumi is soooo adorable <33333

I'm so looking forward for next season! I want Hauro and Oto to call each other by their first names lol Everyone's complaining about the ending but I like it tho lol Team Haruto all the way!!! <3333

RaikoKnight Jul 22 2018 9:43 pm Overall, I liked the story except for the ending. I agree with some of the other reviews, it felt way too rushed. Oto agreed to herself that she will cheer on Tenma and be by his side until the end, but all it took was a few words from the latter to completely change her mind. I also didn't like how she admitted to her coworker that she liked Haruto but basically dissembled that thought until the very end of the last episode. The last couple of episodes were so Tenma-focused that having an ending where Tenma willingly gives us Oto so easily is rather disappointing, especially after hearing from her over and over again that she'll be by his side.

Another disappointment was that there was basically no development for any of the other C5 members besides Haruto and Airi, although that might be present in the manga which I have yet to read. I honestly could not even remember their names until the end, and that alone is very disappointing. Also kinda wished we saw Akira from F4 again but maybe they'll save that for season 2. I think Sojirou was the only one from F4 who played a significant role (and Tsukasa to a lesser extent). The Rui cameo was pretty random.

idk Jul 04 2018 5:58 am okay we all knew that oto was gonna end up with haruto. those cliche romance endings where the girl would realise her feelings for the guy in the last episode and they'd finally get together and all. but this happened in literally the last 5 minutes of the finale and i can tell why people are upset, it's because of the lack of ending. as much as i was glad that they finally ended up together, it kills me that they never REALLY got together. and megumi, airi, tenma and what about their engagement? i get that this has to be cut short bc there's a lot more in the manga (which i haven't read so maybe i should've) but yeah i feel like they could've given more episodes to haruto and oto than just oto convincing herself that she likes tenma. but that aside, the roller coaster ride of emotions wasn't as much as in hyd but i still really enjoyed it. and the comedy part of it HAHAHA i really fell in love with haruto's character. and all the appearances of F4 guys (WE SHOULDVE SEEN DOMYOUJI) and overall I'd still recommend it. JUST THAT HYD IS SO MUCH BETTER

Sorry to say but the double-standard treatment for Nakagawa Taishi is just too much. One of the case why you should never cast bigger, more popular actor for the second lead. Coz end-up you will just focus the story more on him. Taishi did a great job as Tenma, but his character should never have been this big. Biggest mistake on the writer part, instead of focusing the last part of the show to show development of main couple, instead they opted to deal with the fall-out of Tenma-Oto, like what the...and for the main couple we got only what, an imagination cum cliffhanger ending. Dang i was beyond pissed. This could be so much better with these young talents assemble. And what's with making Oto someone without a backbone and was in constant denial the whole series. I know they deviate a lot from manga at this part. From what i can see, if not for Tenma pushing Oto to admit her feelings, she wont ever have the determination or resolve to be true to her feelings and reciprocate Harutos'. At least in the manga Oto herself made a decision to severe her engagement with Tenma while Tenma was in constant denial and refusal till the latest chapter. They make too good of a character for Tenma that makes it hard for me to believe he is not the first lead. Pffft and boos for the team if they set-up this kinda ending for who-knows-when second season -_-

Haruto x Oto all the wayyyy!!! Tenma deserves somebody who will think of him and only him, and unfortunately Oto can't be that person because of her insecurities with him. But with Haruto she becomes true to herself, she becomes confident as if she never had insecurities in the first place.

lmaoooo anybody calling Haruto with a "trash" personality is clearly blind. besides being a spoiled rich brat in the first episode, not one behavior of his should be considered trash, and I know whats trash because of suffering second lead syndrome most of the time but not with Hana Hare. Both guys are amazing and wonderful, but only Haruto can make Oto genuinely happy. With Tenma she feels burdened by his brilliance, his stepmother that obviously doesn't like her. Haruto's dad at least gave him (spoiler) freedom in the finale.

hannasj Jun 16 2018 11:42 am @Girls Over Second Leads i just cant fathom how could you ever pushed people to accept your opinion as if it was the best choice. People are free to like whom-so-ever they may either Tenma or Haruto. Obviously for me I didnt like Haruto because of his look or whatever shallow reasons you were stating. As if Nakagawa Taishi is not handsome enough for people to be swooned over his good looks as I've always been all these years watching his drama and movies. Tenma is a really good character but as i've also read the manga, it's not about who's done more sacrifice for Oto then he's the one that deserve her. It's about Oto's feelings. Clearly there's 'something' unsettled that made Tenma-Oto relationship as 'tip-toeing around one another' as if they are afraid it would shatter. And that probably because Oto just can't get honest or being upfront about her ambiguous feelings toward Haruto. I don't know how they will make the drama end, because the manga is still ongoing. But if anything, Oto's longing looks toward Haruto does mean/indicate there's something more to their relationship than what the eye see. Unless Oto resolved that, Tenma will always feel insecure about their relationship much more than what he already experienced now. I'm all for Haruto-Megurin and Oto-Tenma if that's what the drama vouched for. But at least they have to give proper closure to Oto-Haruto especially from Oto's point of view. Because Haruto has made his feeling as-clear-as-daylight to us all.

About Haruto-Megurin some might say their relationship come out of the left field, so sudden. But I do believe Haruto's development in the recent episode were thank's partly due to Megurin effort. They would make a good couple and I also want to believe that there's some fruitation to Haruto's letting go of his feelings for Oto which is by going into an official relationship with Megurin.

Girls Over Second Leads Jun 11 2018 1:40 pm Writer, I know what y'all did with Boys Over Flowers with the second lead. Well guess what? NO. YOU AINT DOING IT THIS TIME. YOU BEST GIVE TENMA EDOGAWA. Episode 4 was all goosebumps. I was able to be fine with Boys Over Flowers with Domyouji being picked because they wrote Rui in a way where he wasn't the best second lead, but Tenma is literally husband material and doesn't treat Edogawa like trash compared to some other male. I also read the manga and know what Tenma went through for Edogawa. I'm sorry, but lines were crossed with how much Tenma cared for Edogawa, and it'd be unforgivable to try and make Edogawa not choose Tenma after all he did for her. You can't repeat the original Boys Over Flowers with this, so you best not try because I won't ever root for the 2 "leads" this time. Nope. Nope. Nope.

But anyway, this drama has been quite interesting with its adaption. I'm glad that they got older cast members to come back to their roles as opposed to what new dramas do by replacing older characters with different actors. They even got the same housemaid and advisor character for Domyouji back to do their roles. That is some commitment. Even the same singer. Now if they could just get that other singer who did that one song in the original drama back too.

I'm glad that they changed some of the formatting. It was a bit awkward and felt dragged out with the manga. I can't blame the mangaka though, since she was probably expecting it to be turned into a drama sooner or later.

But seriously. Edogawa better be paired up with Tenma. You honestly can't tell me that anyone in their sane mind would pick whatever the male leads name is, over Tenma after what Tenma has done for your happiness and safety.

All of you people shipping Edogawa with the main male lead are wrong. Yes. All of you need to change your sad opinions. Though I admit the guy has his looks to help make him look good with his trash personality.

Nana May 15 2018 5:09 am I love every aspect of this drama. Lol. I've been reading the manga too through scanlations and so craving for the continuation. The drama itself can really portray the manga so well. The cast, the plot, the setting, all of it. Hirano shoo is so likeable, i'm in love with his voice since the first time hear it. Can we talk about the child who plays the young version of haruto? Omg freaking cute and so look alike with teenager haruto. I take notice of airi's character too, she's so cute with the hairstyle and i love her fashion style too. And how about the big SUV-limousine car? That's freaking awesome, i don't even know the name of such vehicle. Lol. Everything's so perfect.

Lori May 10 2018 10:30 pm I've been a hardcore fan of hanadan for many yearssssss. I thought this new generation couldn't top the f4 generation, but i have sooo much fun only by watching episode 1!!!!! Oto is likable and relatable, while haruto is sooo funny. I thought he will be like the arrogant and violent doumyouji, but he's actually really cute and innocent lol for oto's fiance, tenma, tho I didn't know his character yet, but why do i feel like there's a hidden agenda behind their engagement. I haven't read the manga so I didn't know how this series will unfold. Bottom line is, THIS IS SOOOO RECOMMENDED, especially to hanadan's fans that miss the old series and cast so much. You won't regret watching this!

PS: i really miss doumyouji, tsukushi and F4 reunion ?

Ps. My hanazawa rui is too adorable in his cameo. I literally screams everytime the old cast makes a cameo !!

trash May 08 2018 9:18 am the cast is amazing for me tenma is portrait so well in both comic and drama feel like a very very good prince that have spring breezing smile, for haruto his not over doing it and his innocent seem genuine. and for oto omg oto some how in a comic it feel more confused than in the drama but its portrait really well. even supporting actor like airi, for isse somehow its seem like he get more modern cuteness than in comic. and the last eiibi san is more tough than in comic some how. overall i like all the cast surprisingly. really really good job for cast

The title is really confusing lol. Made me think this was a remake and they already had a second season. But looking at the related titles section that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's a SEQUEL. For a die hard fan of HYD all seasons just like myself, MatsuJun will appear in the first episode but for a very brief moment. I'm a fan of Sho Hirano now.

P/S: I've watched BOF (Kdrama) but I still find the original HYD is still the best.

I know a lot of you thinks that a sequel should not happen but there is already a manga entitled "Hana Nochi Hare" on this they are Literally making this into a drama. Also THEY HAVE THE SAME WRITER AND DIRECTOR OF HANA YORI DANGO WHICH MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! Im hoping this will go well and I hope Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mau will have a cameo on this sequel. Anyway I don't really mind a spin off since it's also based on the same author but couldn't they choose a more experienced actor/tress? Taishi Nakagawa is okay but I'm worried about the leads. In the past I had prayed that they would remake but today I found out instead of remake they'll make a whole different story so I'm kinda nervous. I hope people will try watching this before they judge, Yoko Kamio's Cat Street was pretty good so...

Boys Over Flowers is getting a remake in the Philippines (GMA network) . Too much. This is too much. Being a fan of these three - HYD, MG, BOF -

this is too much for me to take. Seriously, guys, can't we just rewatch those three and stop with the sequels and remakes? Or maybe, do a sequel or remake after 20 yrs or so. Hahahaha
