AJ Apr 18 2022 9:04 pm In my opinion, with regards to 2020 KBS Drama Awards, the Awards Panel mostly got it right, i.e. most (if not all) categories had the "correct" winners or joint winners.

One thing to note from year 2020: There were very few (if any) miniseries produced by KBS that could be categorized as very good or outstanding -- while in the same year, they managed to create a truly outstanding long weekend drama in the form of "Once Again" -- not often we can enjoy well-crafted long dramas. Therefore it's quite logical that "Once Again" won a lot, including the "Best Screenplay" and an acting "Daesang".

This is different from year 2019, when KBS had "When The Camellia Blooms" which was one of the best mini/medium series they ever produced, and deservedly won that year's "Best Screenplay and an acting "Daesang" for Gong Hyo-Jin.

Year 2021 though -- KBS actually produced quite a lot of outstanding miniseries in that year, whereas the long weekend dramas are not exactly that good. Therefore if we wish to talk about controversial decisions by Awards Panel in deciding winners in KBS Drama Awards, it shall be the 2021 Awards we could discuss and debate about a lot, not the 2020 one.

Oppa Jan 04 2022 8:08 pm People criticizing KBS for giving Once Again almost all the awards have not seen Once Again. It's a very beautiful family drama that in my opinion is very underrated. First, it was the drama with the highest ratings for 2020. Second, it gave the much needed glimmer of hope and optimism that people needed in the midst of the uncertainties due to the pandemic.
