On March 7th, 2009, Jang Ja-Yeon committed suicide by hanging herself from a railing along the stairs in her home. She was discovered around 7:34 PM by her sister.
2013 South Korean movie "Norigae" was inspired by the circumstances surrounding actress Jang Ja-Yeon's sucide.

kanyinsoul Aug 29 2014 9:56 am i watched her at 'boys over flowers' and in one episode there was this condolence message. it is so sad that a pretty young thing had gone through horrible experiences and ended the trauma by ending her life. i have not read or learned the details of what exactly happened to her, but based on that alone the south korean government should do something to protect these aspiring young entertainers, after all the whole of south korea is benefiting income from the 'halyu wave' spread outside of s. korea.
