Su San Dec 05 2024 12:42 pm Kim Young-Hyun is a national treasure! She keeps Korean history alive for the masses using her superb writing skills. The ministry of culture should enshrine her. Flower Sep 23 2023 8:02 pm I really like Sword of Aramun but the scene where Prince Arok kills a man in the first episode is so messed up. Even though it makes sense in the Arthdal universe, I don't think it is appropriate for a child actor to act that scene. It could leave an unseen psychological damage for that kid ? Wolfie Sep 08 2023 7:24 am You're so brilliant! Dr. Romantic writer need 3 years to write a season of 16 episodes. I really have no idea how you can fill many story arcs in "Jewel in the Palace". Wonderful! You remind me of Chin Yung (Legend of Condor Heroes). I wish you more success in the future. So kim Dec 02 2022 5:48 pm How are you not winning all the awards ? You are a genius ! Elif Oct 29 2022 11:45 am Please, write new historical dramas. I really need this Renwa Apr 28 2022 10:14 am Just finished Jewel in the Palace. Wow! Can’t find the accolades to describe my appreciation really awe of your talent to produce such an epic stunning emotional intellectually satisfying drama. I just keep wondering where your well of talent comes from…simply Thank You! Narcissus Nov 25 2021 4:09 am As a woman i really proud of you Your historical drama like Jewel in palace and Seonduk Queen are masterpiece Teddy Aug 28 2021 9:05 pm I am proud of you as a women you are amazing!!! Princess Anna of Arendelle Feb 07 2020 4:18 am Thank you for writing great historical dramas. You are my favorite drama writer in all South Korea. I love the intelligent conversations of many of the drama characters. They realy teach people about politics and governance. I also love the way some scenes are cut, as if to show how to characters are similar and different. Examples are: 1. The scenes of Deokman talking to Yushin in Queen Seon Deok intercut with Mishil talking to Seolwon about how both Deokman and Mishil think of each other and their ideas; 2. Episode 19 of Tree With Deep Roots where Jung Ki Joon and Sejong discuss to their accomplices their opinions about literacy are intercut to show as if the two are debating and arguing. I also love the depth of many of your characters (though some are based on real people, the depth added in your dramas made us understand them and their motives better). Examples are: Jang Geum and Geum Young of Jewel in the Palace; Deokman, Bidam, and Mishil in Queen Seon Deok; King Sejong in Tree With Deep Roots; and Saya in Arthdal Chronicles. Lastly, all the plots in your dramas are very well written. I don’t know the words to use, but I will just say that all the stories are great. Thank you so much also for having fantastic and great actors in your dramas. I hope again to see more collaborations with Song Joong Ki, Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Yoo Jung, Park Eun Hye, Han Ji Min, Go Hyun Jung, Jung Ho Bin, Lee Yo Won, Kim Nam Gil, Park Ye Jin, Lee Seung Hyo, Jeon No Min, Nam Ji Hyun, Park Ji Bin, Lee Hyun Woo, Yoo Seung Ho, Jung Woong In, Shin Se Kyung, Han Suk Kyu, Jo Jin Woong, Kim Hyun Soo, Chae Sang Woo, Jung Da Bin (former kid actress) Jang Hyuk, Jo Sung Ha, Kim Ji Won and Kim Ok Bin after their fantastic acting in your dramas. I also wish you would cast Ha Ji Won, Han Hye Jin, Bae Soo Bin, Song Il Gook, Song Ji Hyo, Moon Chae Won, Moon Geun Young, Lee Tae Ri/Lee Min Ho 93, and Kim So Hyun in one of your future historical projects. I promise I will also watch Six Flying Dragons in the near future. I know this is very long, but I just really want to express my appreciation for your dramas. Your dramas are the reason I became a Korean sageuk drama fan <3 More projects in the future <3 <3 <3 Yum jove Jan 10 2020 2:04 am Any news for the 2nd season of arthdal chronicles, pls. Thank you. Sarahtrust Apr 30 2014 4:07 pm wonderful drama! OUtstanding Quan Oct 24 2013 7:49 am With the hundreds of KDramas out there I didn't want to hunt by hit-and-miss, so I thought I'd have the best shot in searching by directors and writers :-) I'd like to say my sincerest 'thank you' to you, dear madam writer, and to your writer-&-director colleagues, for the very beautiful work 'Tree with Deep Roots'. While watching this drama I felt the regard with which the 4 of you (writers and directors) accord to your audience. I have been so touched by the storyline of 'Tree with Deep Roots' and its portrayal, and of how much sincere effort has been put into the making of it. Thank you very much for a story/dialogues/monologues worth storing into memory, though I'm much less capable than SoYi :-) Ganbei! Banzai! Salud! Mabuhay! Melody Dec 06 2012 7:42 am I just began on respecting screenwriters.. Love ALL your projects........ :)Keep writing!!! EC Sep 25 2012 11:43 am I just started watching the Korean drama, The Great Queen Seondeok and I got quite engrossed with this drama. However, I have to say I don't like the last few episodes. Throughout the series, Deokman is shown to have grit and her character is very constant with her feelings. We see her as being in love in Kim Yushin until the part where she asked him to give up Kaya and any connection to Wolya (Bo Gya Howe). Due to his reluctance to give up Kaya, she was upset that he was not thinking of his own happiness or hers. She confessed to Bidam that Kim Yushin hurt her feelings and asked doesn't he know how she feels, etc. Then not long later, she suddenly switches her affections to Bidam (who to me, is a scoundrel throughout and I don't care if he really is in love with the Queen). This shows inconstancy on Deokman/Queen Seondeok's part. To me, it doesn't make sense and it's frustrating. neko Sep 15 2012 3:03 pm Share the same thoughts as Dana... I certainly adore screenwriters for Dramas, composers/writers for songs rather than the actors/actresses/singers. They are the original creators of all these wonderful pieces XD Dana Aug 31 2012 10:34 pm I LOVE all her shows -- they're definitely works of art. Writing a high quality, smart, and thought-provoking series with complex, mature characters is no easy feat. Not only that, but she's done very long series, yet managed to keep the viewers' interests all the way. Maintaining that type of intensity over such a long stretch of time requires amazing skill and talent. The political intrigue, too, in her works kept me on my toes. We also learn a lot about cultural, historical aspects through all the details of these dramas. Certainly, this writer has done her research. Best of all, there is a deep, heart-warming, realistic quality in her main characters. They inspire me because these characters rise to their highest potential, often beating the odds. I don't find the same sincerity in characters of other dramas. Many thanks to this genius writer! As another person mentioned, it is truly surprising the fans don't seem to pay attention to the writers of these dramas. I've never understood celebrity worship. I hardly pay attention to who is playing because I am so focused on the character (not the actor). In fact, the whole time we're watching, we're seeing a character - We hardly know the actor behind that character unless one then begins reading interviews, etc. of that actor. Even then, it's a public image presented, not the real person. We won't ever know the real person unless we know the actor on a closer level. And believe me, many of them are just people like ourselves, so what's the big deal? So, celebrity worship has always struck me as mindless when the actors are really playing roles that someone else created. If we fall in love with that person, it's the character we love, not the actor playing that role. I'd much rather follow great writers. So, while fans are drooling over actors, I'm simply watching for the overall storyline and character development. Trust me, this writer rocks! TOK Dec 16 2011 5:25 pm It's really unfair that People don't respect screenwriters. The Fans don't even know the name of the writers. They care only about those Overrated main leads, esp. those popular gay looking actor/actress by those fangirls. She should be respected by fans. Look at all of her dramas she has written. All Her dramas are Amazing work of Art!...They are all Masterpiece work! - A Jewel in the Palace (2003) was very very popular at that time in many Asian countries. - The Great Queen Seondeok (2009) was voted best drama of the year in those nation where it was aired - Tree with Deep Roots and Roaly Family (2011) are now going strong and is now two best dramas of 2011. But none of the fans of those dramas (Except 2 with one myself) has ever thanked this Great Screenwriter. It's Unfair and disrespect to the real artist. lek Jan 24 2011 2:47 am I love the way you translate the history into the life and polictic views. I see the normal great people face their destiny, struggle and maintain our society. Excellent jobs, great taste. Great screen writers have the same characters. They don't look down the viewers. You are great. God bless you. I will keep on with your work. Hope you have some more new work very soon. Miss your work. Show the 21 previous comments...
