AJ Jan 30 2023 9:21 pm @Rita: Did you mean "Empress Ki" starring Ha Ji-Won? It was released by MBC around 9 years ago, therefore not relevant for KBS Drama Awards, let alone the 2022 edition.

And I thought "Empress Ki" won a lot in MBC Drama Awards of the year 2014 -- including a Daesang for Ha Ji-Won? Also winning awards in Baeksang Arts Awards and Seoul International Drama Awards, as well as earning a scores of nominations in Korea Drama Awards and APAN Star Awards in that same year? So we cannot say this series is under-appreciated by the film industry.

Rita Jan 30 2023 3:56 pm I am very unpleasantly surprised that the film "Empress Qi" did not receive attention, everyone played so well, the film remained in the soul of many, but the jury of the film industry did not like it? Strange, isn't it?

AJ Jan 30 2023 4:04 am @z: I respectfully disagree. While Jeon Hye-Won did indeed give a decent performance in "Silence of the Lambs" (a.k.a. "Silence-d"), it was Kim Sae-Byuk whose acting was more prominent in this drama -- hence deserving her nomination.

I would go as far as suggesting that Kim Sae-Byuk should have won the "Best Actress in a Short Drama" award -- but at the end of the day, perhaps the lead actress from "Nineteen Otters" (a.k.a. "Like Otters") edged it.

Instead of giving the daesang to Lee Sunggi they should give it to Jang Hyuk or even Kang Haneul.

The Law Cafe is really bad.

@aaa - I was also wondering why Ji Chang Wook was not even nominated.

Also, Sung Dong-Il won best supporting actor for both If you wish upon me and Curtain Call but how come when I look at his asianwiki profile, it only list Curtain Call. Same with the youth actress Yoon Chae-Na, it was only listed for Love Twist but she also won it for The Love in your eyes. I watched the awards night again and that is what was announced.

AJ Jan 05 2023 8:06 pm I know there is almost no way to please everybody, when it comes to awards -- be it in cinema, television, music, theatre, et cetera. But in my opinion, the panel of judges in this 2022 KBS Drama Awards -- with a few exceptions -- mostly got it right.

Especially compared to the previous year (2021 KBS Drama Awards), when there was a thinly-veiled effort to "big up" a still-running weekend drama by giving it a lot of barely-deserved awards.

Joo Sang-Wook and Lee Seung-Gi do deserve this year's Daesang.

z Jan 02 2023 2:31 am the dumbest thing KBS has ever done was.. not to nominate Jeon Hye Won (silence of the lambs) for Special Short Drama Actress. No appreciation at all. So for what they casted her in the special and asked her to pull off an Oscar acting?

AJ Jan 01 2023 7:57 pm @Angie: I thought KBS Drama Awards does not have the so-called "Best Drama" award, at least explicitly. Perhaps what you meant is the "Best Scriptwriter" award? Yes, it's quite weird that there is no "Best Scriptwriter" in this year's KBS Drama Awards.
