Park Min Feb 24 2023 9:37 pm I refuse to believe an 8 yo could be this menace. A fleet of psychologists wouldn't be able to help this lost cause. The amount of secrets, birth secrets and swaps was unbearable that it made the drama tedious and frustrating. The characters' writing didn't help either. You got your usual doormat character who is the "goodest" person to ever live, you may as well erase her entire blood line and she will forgive you. The flashbacks at the beginning were utterly boring and too goddamn long lasting for 10 episodes. They are designed to push away any potential viewers. The romance was straight up ass, anime highschool romances are better. The resolution/ending/last episode all sucked. Nothing will go as you like.

aestelle Jul 07 2020 10:42 am the drama ended today, and honestly? it had a pretty good impact on me and i actually did cry on the grandpa episode and the shin deuk ye and chan bin accident. overall, i enjoyed the drama even though it was kinda stupid and annoying. really good choice in casts too i'd say.

Edrina Jul 02 2020 10:15 am Its way too stupid after ep 47th but got nothing to watch after 11pm in my tv....dont shed even a tear though the casts cried a lot..i mean a lot....the hero n heroin character so badly n stupidly potrayed. I save my tear for worthy dramas like reply 88 & prison playbook.

She can be sweet and forgiving to strangers who tried so many times to harm her yet she wouldn't forgive her own mother who had saved her many times. Complete idiot.The beginning of the story was ok, it hooked me up until ep 46 then it started to get ridiculous.

Love the casting too but the storyline definetly a crap too stupid . Good peoples all kinda stupid cheated again n again till the end. Its like a templete of making ' makjang' kinda drama. The biological parents are more brainless.left kid at orphanage dont bother to check dna throughly. There will b no story if they re nit that moron. Still its entertaining Plus no good drama in the cable network recently. so just bear with it Or pay xtra for netflix.

hannah May 08 2020 1:52 am this type of drama is called "makjang drama" - which means the drama is supposed to be totally ridiculous! it's a type of drama commonly enjoyed by koreans for it's outrageous plot and even more outrageous situations they're placed in, much like in this: a mother who fakes a second disguise and manages to sly out of every danger, the father "acting poor" when he's really a ceo, the daughter switch, the mother who is able to get away with a pregnancy... definitely it's more enjoyed by older watchers who's grown up with makjangs ("Temptation of Wife" being the most classic example and "Come! Jang Bo Ri" being a similar type of makjang) hence the high ratings. i definitely had fun watching it lightheartedly with my mom - seeing the crazy plot progression. watch it with a grain of salt: yes, it's ridiculous and not to be watched so seriously. just enjoy it and you'll learn to appreciate makjangs!

Not only the story, but the characters were quite awful, even the lead characters/ lead couple were dumb and irritating, knetizens were right this couple was cancerous. Tbh the leads are very unattractive, the first thing normal viewers do is judge the drama by the appearance of the leads, this was a downer. How the hell did this garbage of a drama get such high ratings, was everyone high? Why does MBC like Baek Jinhee so much to keep hiring her and give her so many awards for no effort, even for the string of awful ratings and failure dramas? She isn't that good of an actress, and she doesn't stand out in looks at all, a plain face and boring acting. The guy Yoon Hyunmin is the same, plain face and boring acting. The senior actors carried this drama, if not for them this drama wouldn't have been successful.

This was a type of drama that turned melodrama into comedy for its irrelevence of plot progression and stupidity. Rika Dec 13 2017 6:56 am Okay, what can i say after watching half of the drama, the thing is its get you really, really, really IRRITATING, especially the main character and the antagonist, both of them are like cat and mouse, always bickering, the villain is very greedy and tricky, the good one is very foolish, and ooohh that grandma hilarious one, i like her character very entertaining. i know why korean audience love this drama, you see the ratings ( i think most of the audience are adults and less teenager). i get to the point that most of commenter in here are the one that doesnt like this kind of irritating/ headaching drama (thats why its called makjang). for me its irritating, provocative, ridiculous plotline, unsensical one are make me watch it more. so bad that is soo good to watch. dont mind about the effectiveness of the actor/actress in acting but still make you on the edge of the seat for every episode.

I realised all the Korean dramas have the same formula and its becoming very boring. This will be my last drama to watch. I will not watch a single Korean drama in the future. Seriously, all Korean script writers please come up with better plot and different formula. Every drama is copying the previous script writers. Boring.

just_me Mar 02 2017 4:16 pm I honestly don't know why everyone is so against this drama. Obviously these are the kinds of dramas people watch, as you can see in the ratings.

I was watching it as it was airing and I loved it. Sure the main cast I was a bit iffy about at first, but I thought the plot line was a good one for it to be a 50 ep drama. We all know that most of the 50 ep dramas are family related, and problems within a certain family (ex. All About My Mom, Jang Bo Ri is Here, Legendary Witch). So I don't know why everyone is so negative towards the drama.

It's your typical Korean family soap-opera, obviously with its own plot. So honestly I think that it should be given a try, and don't base your judgements on other people's comments.

Mike Jul 05 2016 11:01 pm I just finished watching a really bad drama not too long ago and thought that there couldn't be any others much worse than that one was. I have been proven wrong! The plot to this drama, like the other, is ridiculous, with revenge being the main focus. This plot being played out for over 20 years??? The character Shin Deuk-Ye being harassed and mistreated by a husband (Kang Man-Hoo, who comes straight from a comic book) she stays married to, even after his known infidelity and abuse, living with the mistress and her two daughters - along with the son that her husband bore with the mistress, and a very annoying mother-in-law who illegally switches babies and can get any personal documents that she wants, even from those authorities who are not allowed, by law, to do so. She accepts all of this over a period of 20 years??? For revenge sake???

Then there is the story of the three orphans - one (Oh Hye-Sang, who is really Geum Sa-Wol) who is cunning enough, even at such a young age, to commit premeditated murder, change birth certificates with another orphan (Geum Sa-Wol, who is really Oh Hye-Sang), make the two grownups who adopt her look absolutely brain dead with just a few well placed excuses, and continues to befuddle them in adulthood. Guem Sa-Wol is innocent enough at the beginning but then her I.Q quickly begins to deteriorate as she moved into adulthood. She is also easily duped by Oh Hye-Sang, falls for the son of Kang Man-Hoo, who is actually married to her birth mother, finds the third orphan (Lee Hong-Do, who is really Owel) is alive and moves in with her due to a bad head injury she suffered from a fall, and for a reason I still can't figure, Geum Sa-Wol refuses to call Owel by her real name. This leaves Owel's father at bay because he believes that she died when the orphanage that the three of them had lived in collapsed. Shin Deuk-Ye is the great imposter, so much so that neither Geum Sa-Wol or Kang Man-Hoo can recognize her when she pits on a wig and sits in a wheelchair. She found her father, who supposedly fell to his death (in REAL life, he would have died from that fall) at the game of Kang Man-Hoo. But after miraculously surviving the fall and living in solitude at a hospice for all these years, he only has a month left to live because of cancer.

Last, but certainly not least, is the character Kang Man-Hoo. He is absolutely comical, from his dialogue, to his silly facial expressions and constant yelling every time he says something. He is constantly bullying everyone, including reporters, cameramen, public officials, and the police. Even though his misdeeds are transparent to all that are in contact with him, he is still able to do and get away with whatever he so chooses because Soon Deuk-Ye is only interested in revenge.

All of this leads up to a really shoddy script and inept writing. There's a whole lot more that I could point out but then I'd be writing all night! I can't blame the actors for doing their jobs - it's the writers who shoulder the blame for this catastrophe.

It's the writer who lacked common sense and totally wasted the lead girls talent. The lead girl was pushed aside and became a supporting character while the actual supporting characters had more airtime and character development. the ratings were high in Korea because people were excited to see the evil characters get punished... But the revenge kept dragging on until the last episode. It's hard to list to every single thing we disliked about the drama since there is so many flaws. For your wellbeing, I suggest skipping over this drama. Really not worth it. The first 20 episodes were okay, I will give you that...

Jung Mar 25 2016 8:06 pm I can't believe I watched nearly every episode of this drama. Thank god I found a way to stop continuing any further. One thing I want to say is that I feel sorry for the actress. Her character in the drama is more useless than most supporting characters on the entire drama, like literally. I wonder what are her thoughts on this. The writer literally ruined the potential of this drama and the actress' career. Please, BJH, do not pick another MBC drama for god's sake or learn how to pick dramas with better writers. Even Oh Yeon Seo subtly expressed her disappointment with her character from Jang Bori's drama. I don't know what is the writer's deal, but she should stop writing dramas... I know many people may disagree with me, but I think BJH is a great actress. She have done exceptionally well as comedic actress in high kick and as an antagonist in Empress Ki. She can only go up from there, but sadly this was not case due to her choice of dramas. Song Ha Yoon was great in the drama, but that is no reason to compare her with BJH and bash her acting ability. People need to realize that the actors don't really have a choice and have to act based on their scripts. I am sadden that people bash her acting ability. I am sure she probably wanted to be more expressive and show everything her character had but the scripts limited her ability to do so. Do you really think BJH wanted her character to be that stupid? I honestly have no words for this writer. Based on the information I gathered about her, the writer has the tendency to ruin her main characters.

I will not waste my time further by writing down all the brainless dialogs/ scenes in this drama. Why did i watch till the end? The mother and the daughter are great actresses--- i was hoping their full potential as actresses will be manifested along the way.

Sadly, there is no low too low for the stupidity of far too many characters displayed in this drama. The only characters worth watching in this drama are Oh Wol and Deuk Ye. The lead romantic pair in this drama is a flop and for the most part after 51 episodes you will be left with an ambiguous ending that doesn't even come close to satisfying the investment in these series.

Because in episode 49, she told her mom that she pretended to marry Chan Bin so her mom could finalize her divorce with Kang Man Hoo. She also said her mom is the best person to lead the company and she said she would help her in the background. Why didn't the writers secretly show viewers that Sa Wol was on her mom's side all along? Oh right, they wanted to stick with asianwiki's synopsis for a while that's why.

I admit Baek Jin Hee needs to improve on her acting, because I cringe watching her crying scenes... But her character lacking a back bone is not the her fault. I don't how many times people need to be reminded that an actor does not create the dramas but act on it. I'm sure actors and actresses can turn a bad script/drama into a good one, but this drama is an exception. The writer has created a drama that even the actress no matter how good she is cannot redeem such a poorly written character. It is frustrating, seriously. I am not exactly a fan of Baek Jin Hee, but I know she's not a horrible actress. I originally watched Empress Ki for Ha Ji Won, and BJH's acting really impressed me. So I know she's not horrible even though watching her in MDGSW proves otherwise. The writer should share 90% of the blame not the actors/actresses. Hong Do has a more interesting story, and she was the true victim of it all-- the writer gave this character a better story and characteristic traits.. Of course people are going to be more drawn to the Hong Do and the actress playing it-- that is not to say she didn't do a great job there. People who a frustrated with the characters are more likely to hate on the actors/actresses playing it. But it is not right.

As the secrets got revealed, the main character Sa Wol showed no development....They should have named "A dysfunctional family" rather than "My daughter Geum Sa Wol." There was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING great about Geum Sa Wol! The main character was an idiot. I thought there should be a character development, but no. Nothing's improved in Sa Wol's character. This girl showed too much sympathy for her mom's enemies and not even thought about the pain her mom has been through. She couldn't even get smarter to realize how much Deuk Ye had put alot of effort to revenge getting back the company for her family. The plot was going to the wrong direction. the evil keeps doing bad things (like Hye Sang) and the good keeps becoming a victim (sa wol). don't even understand why this drama got so high ratings while it shouldn't be that way...

She is pushing her mother away because her mother is in a rage over what KMH has done to her family and company. Nobody on this planet would forgive these kind of things. Bad direction for the plot.

I have lost interest in GSW because she gave up all rights to be a victim by going against her mother and joining the Kang family.

I now only find enjoyment in the sub plot "Lee Hong-Do".... She is a champion! She survived 3 attempted murders and each time had to completely change her acting style as a result of the attempts on her life. 1. Uneducated and abused young mother. 2. Brain damaged adult who behaves like a child. 3. Burn scared and determined to deliver justice and end this bad fate.

Now tell me........ Who really deserves an award for acting???????

Star Wars Fan Feb 22 2016 2:39 am I think Song Ha-Yoon (Hong-Do) should have received an award for her performance. I feel she did a good job in her role when she lost her memory.

I don't feel Sa Wol should have received an award as I didn't think she was that great. She knew how bad Hye-Sang was and all the evil things she did and she let her marry Se-Hoon. Sa Wol should have told his dad, Hong-Do said a few things in front of Se-Hoon's dad at the junk yard prior to the marriage, but he did not know why Hong-Do was yelling at Hye-Sang. I feel some of the information that Sa Wol should have come out sooner rather than later.

I thought Se-Hoon was a decent guy and I was hoping he would not marry evil Hye-Sang. I felt he could find a better girl to marry.

I understand that the writer is trying to send a message about how revenge is a wrong deed. However, on the other side how can the main characters (role models in the drama) can ignore such sinful crimes committed by Kang Man? ChaBin is supposed to support justice, how come he does not even once questions once about the crimes his father committed after discovering everything? As a viewer, I think the writer is losing its story as it comes to the end. What does writer want us the take from the drama after 50 long episodes? Revenge is bad therefore don't punish the criminals?

Does Sa-Wol every wake up and get the picture how many times she has been screwed by Hye-Sang. She saw the tape that Ol Wol had that Hye-Sang locked Ol Wol and the orphanage father in a room. What is with Sa-Wol anyway. When is she going to turn that tape over to the police.

And I really like Se-Hoon, but why does he continue to fill sorry for Hye-Sang???? After the wedding didn't come off with Cha-Bin and creep Hye-Sang, Se-Hoon somehow or other finds her and then says "you are the only one that gets hurt." Duh. He has no idea what she is really like. As a prosecutor, he should send her do jail.

I hope some how or other Hye-Sang gets sent to jail for how evil, conniving, deceitful, despicable, lying witch she is. Se-Hoon is too good for her. He needs to find a better girl.

Actually, I like either guy for Sa-Wol. Sa-Wol is good hearted, but she needs to wise up to Hye-Sang really quick.

There is really nothing different between his two dramas : "Come! Jang Bori" and "My Daughter Geum Sa Wol." -- the plots are the SAME (evil girl steals main girl's identity, is greedy, does terrible things that are unforgivable but ends up being forgiven, etc, etc." HAH! in fact, some of the actors from Jang Bori's drama is also acting in this one.

Save your time; don't watch it. Extremely frustrating to watch Hye Sang continually getting what she wants despite all the horrible things she has done. SPOILER ALERT: Hye Sang is getting married to Se Hoon in episode 37. wow, just wow. She technically "killed" his sister, done extremely horrible things to the main girl and yet, no one realize how evil she really is. Really? is this real life? I'm tired of seeing those lovey dovey scenes between Hye Sang and Se Hoon and yet the writers keeps on giving us those. It's no wonder their ratings drop. I am surprised it's even number 2 watched drama of the weekend. Terrible terrible writing.

I'm not sure if I'm being clear on what I just said there, but in 'Come! Dang Bori," the main character was just as gullible and stupid, so you can't blame the actress for this. I blame the writers for limiting the actors' potential by writing such weak and unrealistic characters and thus making them as supportive characters.

I really hate the writers for doing this. I can't root for the characters that don't take advantage of the evidence in front of them and destroy the antagonists. So what is the moral of story that the writers are trying to convey? that evil wins? that nice people are stupid? How ridiculous. Don't blame the actress or actors for the characters they are portraying; they are just doing what the writer wants them to do. Only the writer has that power. I might have to rethink watching dramas like these; so damn frustrating.

I agree that Baek Jin Hee did fantastic in 'Empress Ki." She played the villain role very well--in fact I adored and pitied that character even though she was evil. I wish she did not drop out of 'Six Flying Dragons' because I really think she would have done great in saeguk dramas.

All she does is cry. Don't writers ever realize that just because she's a "heroine" of the drama does not mean she needs to be gullible, stupid, and all around a pushover? I am going to stop watching this drama. I have had enough. I stopped at episode 30 and decided to skip all the other episodes and watch the most recent one, episode 36. Why am I surprised that nothing has happened? none of the characters have progressed and hye sang is continuely getting what she wants while Sa Wol is seen more as a supportive character of the show. So damn frustrating. I feel bad for Baek Jin Hee for not being able to showcase her talent like she has demonstrated in "Empress Ki" Baek Jin Hee shouldn't have dropped out of "six flying dragons" for this bullshit.

The "Jang Bori" writer needs to stop recycling same old plots. Just because "come! Jang Bori" was a hit, it does not mean you should recreate another drama using the SAME plot. Everything is so predictable! Judging from the writer's previous work, I know for sure that everything gets resolved in the last two episodes of the drama and the antagonist of the drama gets forgiven.

Sorry for the rant. I am just so angry and frustrated that I wasted my time watching this drama.

aura Dec 31 2015 8:42 pm the drama is good but is full of flaws, bad direction..the older cast has very good actors especially seo in hwa ..she is really the star of the show and her acting at each point is so controlled and to the point..she is the main character of the drama..but the younger cast is not very talented ..especially the lead actor and actress are very average actors..and though the title states geum sa wol ..baek jin hee playing geum sa wol could have acted much better..her acting is not very versatile and very monotonous and feels like a very side character..and the romance between the leads is also not much captivating to watch..i feel the older actresses and actors are doing a good job of moving the story forward and the older actresses are all really beautiful

Everything is so great, but the only thing that I'm a little sad about is how slow the romance is going but that's OK. It also took a while in the drama Jang Bo Ri is Here, which is another drama w/ the same concept as this one.*SPOILER* Lost daughter, the love interest and the girl were friends when younger. The 'sister' who basically sort of steals her life.

Director Baek Ho-Min & screenwriter Kim Sun-Ok have done such an amazing job, in both of the dramas. The actors as well, I am loving Kang Chan-Bin's character, and his persistence. Yoon Hyun-Min has done an amazing job portraying him so well. As well as all the other actors. My favorite so far, I think will always be Jeon In-Hwa playing as Shin Deuk-Ye. She's really showing us all some ahjumma power, and I totally love her for it.

They are several people on there with him and it is about food that they cook, and also different restaurants they go to. Unfortunately it does not have Eng Subs, but fun to watch. I always find it interesting in these dramas, when they have eating scenes, the actors eat as if they are starving. They make it look so good to be eating the food.

Kim Hee-Jung who plays Choi Ma-Ri is really good in this show. Very different character than she played in Warm and Cozy. At first I didn't know it was her. She is a good actress.

In the midst of the orphanage collapsing, children getting killed or hurt, how did evil disgusting Man Hoo find - was it the saving books of the children or the orphanage saving books???? I found that extremely strange but sometimes very strange things go on in these Korean dramas.

He didn't get to tell anyone and unfortunately he gave the blood work paperwork to Hye Sang to give to Sa-Wol. He should have given it to Sa-Wol when he found her after the building collapsed. For some reason he didn't. No story I guess then.

Is Hye Sang's father Kang Chang Mook?? The actor that played Hye Sang's dad and ran the orphanage looks exactly like Kim Ho-Jin from Everything Kimchi. But there is no listing of Ho-Jin in the list of actors.

I feel bad that he died in the collapse of the building and hateful disgusting Man Ho blamed it on him. It appeared he was the only person running the orphanage. Usually they have other people that help as employees. So only Sa-Wol and Owl can say he was innocent some where along the line.

an opinion Oct 08 2015 3:10 pm Thought the casting was good except for lead role for Geum Sa wol. Baek Jin-hee just doesn't fit Sa wol's soft character. Her looks also doesn't really suit that type of character and in moments like this, one's acting should outshine it to make me sympathize with them but that has not happened yet. Hye-sang's actor needs a little more work but I can definitely see her playing the character well. She has the elegant, in a fierce and bratty way style that truly sums up Hye-sang's actor. I've seen Park Se young in a cuter and more good girl role and in this drama she pulls of Hye-sang pretty well so far. I really hope Jin-hee can do it better or else it'll sort of drag the plot down, after all she is the main character. I have mixed feelings for the rest of the young adult cast, I'll have to see later on how it goes. The adult casting is superb though! Probably because they have more experience, I've seen all of them many times in a variety of roles and the still portray their individual characters in this drama perfectly. Shout out to Do Ji-won, seen her in different roles (antagonistic ones as well) and she just acts like such a kind and sweet mom in this drama it's great!

Brian Oct 04 2015 8:33 pm I think this is the best role Baek Jin Hee has had compared to past roles in a drama, she is a lot more strong here has a bit of bite and is pretty critical. Geum Sa Wol has a lot of good points in her that is missing in majority of dramas; the main characters in general have a lot of potential that will possibly carry the story a lot better, compared to previous episodes with the adults. Hoping Geum Sa Wol stays as a strong charismatic character all the way! Hoping for a good fiesty cat fight between sisters..

someone Sep 20 2015 12:37 pm @Yanalie: I checked the relatioship chart, and Song Hayoon is supposed to be Ohwol, Sawol and Hyesang's friend from their orphanage days, but with a different name, and Im Shiro plays her husband. You're right, Joo Sehoon is that little boy and Joo Gihwang (Ahn Naesang) is his father.
