Plot
An elite meticulous musical genius and a messy out-of-control pianist. This unlike pair somehow matches up and together with a group of colorful young classical musicians and an eccentric world-famous conductor, they start to create the most unique wonderful world of music. They are all against the conventional orders and rules, and try to make the most of their lives with humor and passion for music. Each character has a special (or weird) story to tell and they confront with each other hard and unite strongly. Based on a popular comic, this is a hilarious comedy with brilliant young ensemble cast and full of great classical music.
Notes
- "Nodame Cantabile" is adapted from Tomoko Ninomiya's serial manga "Nodame Cantabile" (first published in July 10, 2001).
- The original manga is based on a real life person, Megumi Noda, who was a music college student at the time of the comic book publication and is now a piano teacher in Fukuoka.
- Drama was filmed on location in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
- To prepare for his Chiaki Shinichi character, Hiroshi Tamaki practiced conducting music, violin, and piano. He noted that for Episode 8's "Symphony No. 1 (Brahms)" scene he listened to the Brahms song over a 1,000 times.

Watched this dorama in every form, anime, live action - in dvd, on air, via youtube. Never stop to amaze me. My heart goes with them both. I even want to own a duffle bag with piano keyboards. Hope they could do another romance/comedy dorama in the very near future. Watashi wa anato aishtemasu.

Hard to imagine classical music could be so deftly handled in this form of popular entertainment. Despite the successes of the manga and anime predecessors, it was a whole new ball game for the TV medium. Kudos to the production team. Juri Ueno was perfect for her role. Hiroshi Tamaki was a bit stiff at times, but just think of the hard work he must have put into preparing himself for the conducting scenes. Bravo!

i love this drama. There was never a dull moment, I really enjoyed watching this. i watched this twice. i also watched the 2 NC SP twice, i watched the anime, and I have read the manga. Damn! It's very addictive. i have been waiting for the new chapters of the manga, I heard that the manga is almost at it's end. :( Sad. But i also heard that after so much delay, the manga will be out on July 25, that's tomorrow. So I'm hoping the scanlations come out soon after.
