Kimihiro Watanuki (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is a lonely high school student. He has a special ability to see ayakashi (vengeful spirits). He wants to become free of his ability and live a normal life. One day, he is led by a butterfly to a mysterious store. There, he meets the owner of the store Yuko Ichihara (Kou Shibasaki). She tells him that she will grant him a wish for a price.

Based on manga "xxxHOLiC" by Clamp (published from 2003 to 2010 in magazine Weekly Young Magazine). Clamp is an all female Japanese manga group consisting of 4 members: Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi.

Kuro Feb 06 2023 5:42 am Urghh. One of the most horrible adaptation i've ever seen. Why is every xxxHolic live action have this super depressing atmostphere? I mean the manga wasnt this depressing. It is like watching a DC movie where everyone forgot to turn on the light.

Of all the thing i look forward to, was Yuuko's house. I imagined it would be exactly similar to the manga: a house in the middle of town, in between 2 large building. But oh boy, i was super bummed to see the horrible Yuuko's house's set.

Not everything has to be turned to horror film, okay? ?

Mewmew Jan 11 2023 7:02 pm damn this was crappy... There are so many issues with this movie, most of them because Mika Ninagawa is here. One of her problems, is that her movies are all visuals, visuals VISUALS and she makes you sure of that. The problem is, visuals is ok, if everything is accompanied with the same care and quality . Not the case.. Ryunosuke and Shibasaki do their parts fine for what they have , and their legit good actors. Hokuto Matsumura and Tina Tamashiro, jeeeeez, they can't act , period. wooden planks of emotions, that you just don't care if they die or if their destiny is something else, whatever happens to them, you just haveno affinity with these characters. the writing ... is all over the place, incoherent, contradictions everywhere, and just overall...something you just don't care. I watched it and i am left with the thought "so.... i watched this why?" Not memorable not even in the slightest. A forgettable movie.

ENKA-Y Dec 17 2021 6:48 am Yuuko and Watanuki impressed me. Although I used to think the couple in the 2013 version was actually pretty standard. I will look forward to Doumeki 2022's performance. Himawari is really good, I hope she will bring a special surprise. And CGI of 2022 impressed me very much, hopefully the movie will be released in theaters in my country.
