Set on Jeju Island, three people fight against evil that is trying to destroy the world.

Van (Kim Nam-Gil) was raised to protect the world against evil. He trained to become a weapon. He now fights against evil and kills victims who are possessed. He doesn't show emotion for his actions, but, within his mind, he feels guilt.

Won Mi-Ho (Lee Da-Hee) is from a family that runs a large company. She causes big trouble and is sent to Jeju Island, where she works as a teacher. She then gets involved in a case related to ghosts.

Johan (Cha Eun-Woo) is a Catholic priest and he performs exorcisms. His noble goal is to protect life and purify evil.

Goong-Tan (Sung Joon) and Van were raised to defeat evil. But due to an incident, Goong-Tan goest up against Ban.

Park Min Mar 09 2024 10:19 pm The drama kicked off with good modern visuals and an interesting fantasy setting on a mystical island. However, it quickly unraveled. The fantasy elements, though visually appealing, peaked in the first two episodes, while the remainder felt like a rehash of what we'd already seen. It's strange that they revealed all their cards in the beginning, leaving the rest feeling empty. The female lead was sent to the island to work as a teacher, but this plotline was completely irrelevant and didn't last for more than one episode. The direction the drama took with the fantasy story turned out to be quite disappointing afterwards. More on characters, the female lead was an unstoppable cringe generator with her non-serious interactions, especially with the male lead in the earlier parts. It was the writers way trying desperately to build chemistry between the two, but it was impossible without rewriting the characters themselves. However, the character that suffered the most from both the writers' curse and the cast choice was Goong Tan. It doesn't take a blind man to see what was wrong. The drama ended up being this shallow shipwreck of recycled ideas and bland characters.

Yeruchii May 26 2023 7:04 am Star-studded cast. I watched this one particularly because of Kim Nam-Gil of Fiery Priest. Acting was good, storyline good. This drama has good intentions but it failed to execute. The excessive use of CG was borderline obnoxious. This one seriously screams Twilight. Poor directing and I honestly don't think it will get nominated for best cinematography anytime soon. For someone who's breathing kdrama, this one's not for me. But for some who doesn't care much about these trivial details, then this might be your cup of tea.

Mimi May 14 2023 8:11 am There were a lot of things that I like and dislike. If you haven't watched KNG’ through the Darkness, better to watch this first. I got so immersed in his role there that I felt like Song Ha Young in his character here but one thing is for sure, he never disappoints. He deserves another award for this project. Yes, the editing and some POVs are indeed too draggy and boring. I also hate that they made the FL’s character so boring. Eun Woo was great here too, made me want to watch other dramas he’s in. The effects and cgs were great too. Overall, this is a must-watch.

It's cut so weirdly and the POV sometimes was so awkward I keep falling out of the storyline instead of being immersed. But I did read a comment on here that it was the drama's way of emulating a webtoon series. Which... Does Not Work At All. Gahd.

The story is interesting, definitely something in line with my taste but why'd they make the FML suffer so much by keeping her ignorant and weak like damn that was my biggest pet peeve in books and I can't believe I'll encounter it here too. Remember everyone, hiding things that could save people from the very person (not on the dark side) who could do the saving is never a good idea (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson to name some popular examples).

Saw a spoiler about the season 2 ending and I might put off watching it since it seems it ended very unsatisfactorily.

I ended watching the whole thing.

Basing the last scenes of S2, I believe there will be a S3 - and if that's the case, I can't wait for it!!! My gosh, everytime Mi-ho and Van are on the same screen, it always gives me butterflies in my stomach! Their chemistry is so so so good!!! I hope Van will still be on S3, pls pls pls! Island will not be Island without him in it! Although what brought me to watch this is Cha Eun Woo - I've loved this more because of the unbreakable bond between Mi-ho and Van. I am so happy that Cha Eun Woo's character is a priest so I am 100% sure that there won't be a love triangle which I am already so fed up, Cha Eun Woo is so cute and charming, but Kim Nam-Gil is so manly!

Kim namgil’s acting reminds me of Through the Darkness era.. maybe because the characters are similar but I think Van’s character is not ‘dark enough’ if u compare from the story. I highly recommend Island to people who are interested to see good quality series with top tier actors. The actors' chemistry and dynamics are on point. Nobody aside from them could give justice to the roles. island is truly magnificent.

Pimil Jan 24 2023 4:58 am It is really just 6 six episodes! Don't take me wrong you can tell a lot with that format but that's definitely not case with island. The only thing which they do is introducing character and just beginning of the plot but ending of first season is totally abrupt. Overall I think it is good to just fire both writer and director. I don't know webtoon which Island is based on but drama has really almost no plot, everything is about Miho being at danger and Van killing monster, almost nothing happened between just characters talk. And director totally waste comedic potential of Kim Nam Gil and Lee Da Hee. I can see that actors try to joke but director doesn't have good comedic timing. The only thing he is good is hiding Cha Eun Woo awkward acting in emotional scene. Unless there he drops tears, he doesn't have on face fullshot.

Well the only positive thing which I can say about Island are special effect and camera operator work. They are a bit computer game a like but not bad overall. Still soundtrack could be better why each time Van attacking is the same music

In the first 4 episodes his character was so goofy and endearing but at the last 2 episodes his acting stunned me.

I cried because of his wonderful acting, cha eunwoo nailed this character I hope we get to see more version of him on season 2

As for namgil and dahee both of them are amazing actor and their scenes are so cute together their chemistry is lovely, I enjoy their dynamic

All I want to say that everyone should watch this drama to experience something new.

I love the chemistry between the cast. Van+Miho as maybe a couple down the road? and Yohan+Miho as siblings, they are so chaotic I love them. Even tho the main plot point was changed from the webtoon, Yohan is exactly like as remember: cheeky, funny and chaotic, but gets really serious when it's time to don the priest attire. The last episode of part 1 had a break point for one of the characters and a plot twist that I wasn't expecting so now I need part 2 to air asap!

khadija Jan 22 2023 11:17 pm so far its 6 episodes are out and ngl even if the story isn't centered around the manga like i expected, it still pulls off well by the end of episode 6. my favourite from the first season was yohan and his brother's story. cha eunwoo as a hip exorcist delivered with his performance when it required. kim nam gil and lee dahee as van and miho really impressed me as they portrayed their roles so well. but its more about the demonic spirits, curses and past rivalry. if anyone is here expecting a horror fantasy series anything but that then sorry this series is not for you.

JP Jan 21 2023 9:22 pm More Kim Nam Gil and less of the other two leads would help this drama a lot. The only good scenes were the ones with Nam-Gil. Also, the whole young, handsome, stylish, flirty priest was kind of weird. An older actor would have been better, or perhaps if the young one had been more serious in the role. It found it to be a bit jarring.

Eunwoo's acting keep improving, decibel and now this. I'm so proud. Lol. Been a while since i watch any of Sung joon's project. Watch him since White Christmas decade (lol) so i know he'll be good. Lee da-hee is soooo pretty.

Guess the story being rushed only with 6 eps. But what annoying me the most maybe the backsound for fighting scene. Lol. But i like this kind of genre, and all the actors and actress already well known for their acting credibility, and Im a fan of Eunwoo and Sungjoon (lol) so I definitely cant wait for season 2!!

I am glad to see Cha eun woo in a different character here because he was always did the same kind of school boy roles. So now he is getting matured roles. I am glad for that. Kim nam gil was so eye catching as Wan here. Lee da hee too was gorgeous. She has become more beautiful now. Wan and Miho will have a great chemistry in future. I hope season 2 will be more nice and it will solve all the questions of the fans regarding the story. I hope that season 2 will come soon!!!

This drama reminds me of Bulgasal, there’s something I love about fantasy reincarnation romance genre. I love the clash and parallel of the characters in this episode, Van and Johan.

I've never watched a kdrama that has many genres in one before such a comedy, horror, romance, thriller all in one. At first I watched the series for Cha Eun Woo, but Lee Da Hee stole my heart from episode one. Lee Da Hee is such an amazing actor. I didn't know she was a actor when I watched previous as a commentator in singles inferno. The director did a very good job.

I started watching it at a random hour of the night, without having expectations or knowing the plot. And because I’ve been let down by horror dramas lately, I became hesitant as soon as I saw the first horror scenes. But then, I was mind-blown. « Island » completely transcends the horror genre, or any genre for that matter : it has adrenaline-fuelled action, it has family intrigues, it has religious rites, it has a reluctant and mysterious bodyguard, it has students in distress, it has moments of comic relief, it has Jeju Island’s sacred wilderness. And the actors. My god, the actors. Lee Da-Hee is mesmerizing in the role of the rich heiress chased by demons. Her fear pierces through the screen. Kim Nam-Gil has the same « Bad Guy » vibes and costume that made him world-famous. And Cha Eun-Woo’s priest character, after being discreetly shown in select scenes, assumes his charismatic, foremost role only in the 3rd episode : this is true character development that you rarely see in dramas nowadays.

Episode 1 had weird pace, weird editing and the CGI looked bad (the big demon). Episode 2 was 100% better.

I remember this was a manwha so it will be fun and action packed. Looking forward to the adventure with our demon slaying trio.
