As the word for 'rain' is different in many languages, he is known by a variety of names. In the West he is known by the English word Rain. In Korea he is known as 비(Bi) (pronounced as the letter B in English), Korean for "rain." In Japan, he is known as ピ (シンガー)|ピ, pronounced pi when using Japanese phonology. In some parts in China, he is sometimes referred to as Yu ("雨"), meaning 'rain.'
Rain will serve his 21 month military service starting on October 11, 2011.

Raine Dec 29 2021 11:44 pm I'm watching The Hungry and the Hairy on Netflix and Rain is still super charming and adorable. He has a beautiful smile. You can see he has great character and is very dependable. But it's a pain to watch the show because of Noh Hong Chul. Noh Hong Chul is so annoyingly loud that I have to lower down the volume just to be able to watch through each episode.

All his tiktok videos were amazing! He is very talented, I watch all his K-drama and movies. Ninja Assassin, A Love to Kill and Full House were among my favorites.

Jeannie Jan 10 2016 6:17 am Big Rain is my all around favorite performer. I love watching him on stage, in dramas and movies. He has perfect stage charisma and I love that about him. I think he can sing anything but the fact that he loves R&B and Hip Hop is a plus for me. I have all of his CD's and I listen to them every day. As an African American of course I've enjoyed an array of R&B songs and singers. But I love the fact that Rain has so many hits on one CD not just a few. He sings from the heart and I can feel it in his songs, I think that is very important as an artist. I'm sure Bi is probably exhausted from the Squall concerts but I can't wait to see what you have in stored for 2016.

I had the pleasure of watching your last television drama "My Lovely Girl" and it was nice but I feel strongly that you could have had a stronger female lead than the one cast. Not that the young lady couldn't act, just needed someone more mature...well an actress that could convey it sincerely, which was missed a lot in that drama....someone like Gianna Jun (actress from The Thieves, Berlin Files, Love From Another Star) Aside from that, I feel that you did a lot of work to carry the script, which wasn't well thought out toward the end.

Moving on, I hope to see you in a true movie comeback, your part in "The Prince" was too small and to obvious. I know it was just another opportunity to get your feet wet with American cinema/films....but you were better in Ninja Assassin. Truth be told, a lot of your fans had hopes for a Ninja Assassin sequel...but I guess the time has passed for that. Personally, I've think you could play anything from a serial womanizer, a serial killer (think Ted Bundy...a real life American serial killer who was good-looking for his time thereby allowing him the opportunity to kill as many women as he did), a dancer....yeah, I know but truly you could (think something like Salsa which starred Darco Rosa or Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze)....even a period piece I'd like to see you try a historical piece.

I know I named a lot of American films, please forgive me but it's the only think I have to compare it too as I haven't watched to many Asian films. Nevertheless, I'm saying you are terrific and should be paired with men and women who are equally terrific when acting....nothing but the best for Rain!!!

Anways, best of luck to you as you continue with your music and with the acting roles your bring to your fans.

I'm sure this gets old coming from fans like myself...but I've found myself wishing often you would have made a sequel to that film. That aside, I loved you in your latest television drama "My Lovely Girl," I think you did the best you could with such a young cast. This might be perceived as rude to say, but I have yet to see you in a drama or movie with a leading female that can do justice to your character or abilities on-screen.

I do believe there is one female actress that could definitely do well in a movie or television drama with you because both of you have a level of acting maturity that could be displayed and accepted by everyone. That female actress is Jun Ji-Hyun a.k.a Gianna Jun from "The Thieves", "My Love from Another Star/Man From Another Star" "Berlin Files" This woman can seriously act, and has sex appeal.

Rain, I think it's time you put out a killer movie, where you aren't holding back so that certain people that call themselves your fans won't be offended. I understand you have a lady friend, and South Korean society may deem you be respectful of that when doing on-screen roles that require romance....but you're an actor and I think your lady friend knows this and the fans should know this. Just my opinion but I think a psycho thriller/serial killer type roll would be great for you....you'd make a beautiful killer. Something kind of like The Talented Mr. Ripley (starred Matthew Damon)

Of course, I'm I think you can play anything, from intellectually challenged (mental ill), Saulabi (Korean Samurai), Sulsa (Korea's version of a Ninja), a serial womanizer, or a dancer think Dirty Dancing, Magic Mike, or Salsa (starred Draco Rosa...he was hot back in the day)....

Anyways, I've said all this just to say that you a fantastic actor, an amazing singer and entertainer. You do something on-screen that most people cannot do that are in the same arena as you. I believe you have it in you to be a mega star on-screen, you just need the right movie role. I hope you will see this posting and will comeback to fans like me with something spectacular!!!!

But i didn't gave him even a glance back then though fans were screaming their lungs out. Boy, then it hit me! This must be the 'rain' I met when i got hooked with the drama 'my lovely girl'. I was lucky back then but i did not know it.

I've been a fan ever since I went to the movies and watched Ninja Assassin (I'm still hoping you'll do a sequel before it's to late). I recently rented via On-Demand "The Prince," I enjoyed the movie, although I felt your part was a bit small...but it was a good project since your release from your military duties. You have a lot of North American fans, and I seriously believe you could pull off being the main attaraction in a Blockbuster American made movie. However, I don't want to see you typecast as the typlcal Asian martial arts guy....so the part has to be right.

I loved to see you do something like an Action Hero...I think you could pull off a Superman/Captain America type character.....I think you could even pull off something creepie scary like an American Psycho (i.e Christian Bale type character). I even think you could pull off a Legends of the Fall (Brad Pitt kinda character). Hell, I even think you've got the talent and ability to pull off a Silence of the Lamb (Anthony Hopkins type character) or Primal Fear (Edward Norton type character). You've got the looks, your acting is passionate, and underneath your sexy masculine features I feel a bit of strangness is there. Also your command of the English language is very, very, very good. Sorry if I'm only using American Actors to compare you to...but I'm American.

Anyways, congrats on completing your military duties and returning safely and congrats on your new relationship (I wish you both the upmost happiness and success). I wish you continued success with your music career and hope you continue to grace us your fans with your film/television works.

Genesis Dec 27 2013 5:01 pm Well, it's been several months since Ji-hoon a/k/a Rain Bi has been released from the military, and all of his "die-hards" couldn't be happier....right, right. So, I've been looking forward to what he will release next as a movie, and it looks to be a thriller/action type film with no other than Bruce Willis....I believe he will have some real quality screen time, but whether or not this will be the breakout American movie it's hoped to be for Rain is yet to be seen....I'm waiting along with all of his other fans.

I personally was looking forward to him headlining another movie on his own, like a sequel to Ninja Assassin...that would have been sooooooo freakin' good. Could he get the body back, that's probably another issue....but who couldn't if the money was right (RAIN, AS A FAN...COULD YOU SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT A SEQUEL TO NINJA ASSASSIN...YOU LEFT YOUR FANS WONDERING WHAT BECAME OF RAIZO AND HIS CO-STAR MIKA)

Anyways, Rain I'm looking forward to 2014 and what you give to your "die-hards"!!!!
