Biography

IU, was born as Lee Ji-Eun on May 16, 1993. she is managed by LOEN Entertainment. IU works as a singer and actress in South Korea. Her stage name "IU" is derived from "I and You" - to become one, you and me, with music.

IU released her first mini-album "Lost and Found" on September 24, 2008. Her debut was made on Mnet's "M Countdown" on September 18 with the song "Miya". She gave her TV performance on MBC's "Music Core" on September 20, 2008. On April 23, 2009, IU released her first album "Growing Up". On November 12, 2009 IU released her second mini-album "IU...IM" with the track "Marshmallow" becoming popular. IU released her third digital single "Jansori" (lit. translate "nag") on June 3, 2010. She received favorite or top award on SBS music show "Ingi Gayo" and KBS show "Music Bank". On December 9, 2010, IU released her third mini-album "Real." The track "Jongeun Nal" ("Good Day") topped the Korean music charts and was played extensively throughout South Korea. The song ranked top on SBS music show "Ingi Gayo," KBS music show "Music Bank," Mnet music show "M Countdown," and Korean music chart. IU's single "REAL+" was released on February 9, 2011. Track "Naman Molratdeon Iyagi" ("The Story I Didn't Know") topped the daily charts in one day.

The Hong sisters script does introduce interesting parallels concerning the complex interrelationship between the transitory states of human consciousness (existence) and soul world. The melodrama scenes by the Moon Tree, and hotel terrace balcony between the main characters created a subtle dreamscape of romantic interlude between a human entity and the ageless, soul world archtype of personal being belonging to the cosmic sphere of the otherworldly; gifted with intelligence, will and power. The Hong sisters should have continued the script series, the potential "Blue Moon" teaser and it's replacement character simply won't have the magic of Hotel Del Luna. When you have something that works, stay with it, develop it and make it more sensational! But what can you tell writers these days.

Darwin Apr 18 2020 12:24 pm I went into this thinking it was going to be "Lee Soon-Shin and her road to fame" or something. 30 episodes in and she basically haven't even started her "career" yet. The story is full of full grown adults acting like uppity teenagers: kicking people when they're down because their feelings are "hurt", blaming victims because "yOu dOn't uNderStand wHat i'M gOinG tHroUgh~~". Probably 80% of the story is them blowing up issues and generally being assholes. I waded through 50 episodes of that, which honestly just made me thoroughly numb to whatever plight they're having at any particular moment. It's not all bad though: the main pairing is very solid and cute af, and it's worth fast fowarding all those unpleasant stuff to get to their cute and satisfying bits in the story.

I actually thought she was pretty but hated her character (I shipped Kim Soo-Hyun with the lead actress) at that time,then here comes "Dream High" which Kim Soo-Hyun also brought me. I noticed how great her acting and singing because of that and after watching Dream High for several times I actually realized that IU is not just an actress but also a singer and ever since I have searched her movies, songs and almost all of her drama series.

I love everything about this girl! <3 She slayed every role she took especially in Scarlet Heart: Ryeo where I shed almost a bucket of tears and even if I was done watching it but I decided to watch it over and over there are still tears ran down all over my eyes.

Heard that she have a lot of controversies but i really admire her because of her persistense and dedication to her field. Shes just like a weed that matter how you kill it, it keeps growing. Her voice really reminds me of miku hatsune the vocaliod of japan. Her cute adorable face like a small lolita she is really like Miku. I think she is the real life miku hatsune of asia. There are a lot of simmilarities. Just keep fighting Im your fan now and don't mind the haters. Those haters are yandere in nature. The more you hate the more you love.

Why must they hate so much on singers and actors on the smallest mistakes or things they do? Who cares? They are people too. Get over it. Just bring me more series with IU. Kim Soo-Hyun or Park Shin Hye.

Then again, I am Australian so we don't really have the whole "Crazy" star thing happening here. Most of them head over to America anyways... but the ones that stay here are usually so down to earth (except for maybe Delta Goodrem :P ) but I never understand why other people care what they do so much. Just watch the shows and love the. If they do well, congratulate them. People wonder why stars go ape shit like Miley Cyrus, it is because everyone else out there treats them like Gods and then hate on them when they slip up.

I love IU - I know nothing about her except for watching her performances on stage and seeing her act in the her Dramas. I think she is great and don't need anything more from her, apart from entertainment.

So thank you IU for continuing to do what you love and keep it up!! <3 I enjoy watching your series and I hope you continue to enjoy it too!

And the rest of the other casts? But this is a Korean adaptation so maybe I may be wrong. Let us just hope that the writers doesn't hate IU, they might just really deliver the worst ever written character for IU out of spite. I heard IU gained writers and PD's who hates her during that last scandal.

If she decides to accept Moon Lovers, I hope she nails it and do acting workshop to deliver her most outstanding performance to shut the haters up. :D

justice Dec 28 2015 8:41 am i just want to clarify things for people misunderstanding and bashing iu. first of all, iu herself said that she is not innocent. she is quite stubborn and doesn't like to be viewed as korea's little sister just like suzy being viewed as korea's first love. iu as said by other actors and musicians alike is really smart and mature for her age.

2nd about the zeze controversy. if you have read the book, my sweet orange tree, then you have no problem with the song. if not, then you've completely misunderstood. the lyrics of the song is on the tree's pov. the lyrics such as 'climb up me' is literally on the book as well so there's no point bashing her.

3rd about the plagiarism issue of the album cover and zeze wearing stockings. if you have watched iu's v app, introduction to her album, she had shown everyone her own, self-made sketch about the album cover. her drawing is diff. from the one on the album cover so why hate her when it's her designer's mistake? her sketch and the drawing in the album cover is different so pls stop with the hate.

4th iu calling zeze 'sexy'. again, if you have watched iu's v app video, she herself said that she is not referring to the young zeze but to zeze's characteristics/ traits. she said that zeze's traits are sexy / charming. sexy in korea is viewed sexually or differently like being charming. the journalists and reporters are the one at fault.

5th, i'd end this up by saying that yes indeed, the netizens completely misunderstood iu but iu herself also have responsibilities about her actions. she's smart, talented and kind. she sings, writes her own songs, produces and acts really well, she donates and can also play different instruments ans is quite boyish at times (lol too much compliment eyy) but she should also take responsibility for what she had made. i like how she remained calm about the issue and is so strong to face it like this. iu's such a strong girl and mind you, she's only 22 yrs. old. i hope everything will be fixed and no more hating. i'm tired of it. everyone fighting! iu fighting!^^

For this lolita concept,im honestly feel really disappointed with her. Actually, i do admit that i realize she did have the sexual concept but at the same time i dont want to admit it because i think she is innocent. But now, this issue has become so obvious that it may affect her carrier. Honestly, there are so many other group that has the sexual concept, but why dont they point that up too. Im really upset that they only take it out on iu. I also do have to admit that zeze song is too much actually. But it may happen because she misconcept (i dont know the right word for it) the story. Please dont put all the blame on her. Why didnt her company check all this for her??? Why they just released it??? Without considering the outcome. Did they all didnt know the whole story about zeze?? Well, it can happen because i also dont know anything about zeze until this issue. I just enjoy the song. But, if they know and just released it thinking that no one will notice the true meaning of the song, then its their fault. It is a critical issue as this affect the feeling of the writer of the book which is also the victim,zeze and other readers. Then, i think iu is really at fault, she makes a really big mistake that make me felt a big disappointment to her.I really hope iu does not have the lolita concept for her career. It is the company that make her like this. I do want to believe it because i really love iu. I know that iu is not someone that has the pedophile nature and i want to believe it too. I have never seen her crying except in a variety show heroes. And it is because she miss her grandma. She miss her family. She will only cry when she talk about her family. Then i know she is an innocent child that need to make money to suppot her family. Please dont bash her too much.

PS: im sorry to post too much. It is because i feel sad for her. It is maybe the concept given to her by the company. And she must accept the condition. If you watch her earlier day, this kind of concept does not exist. After she reached her maturity, her concept slowly changing and it is maybe the company decision for her. And i hope iu is what i think.

And also, why are people against KSH and IU being paired? She's also an amazing singer, of course. All her hit songs are great, and others as well. Her performances of Officially Missing You (on YouTube) are the best of all those I have heard by anyone.
