A man (Lee Sun-Kyun) in his 40's withstands the weight of life. A woman (IU) in her 20's goes through difficult experiences, but also withstands the weight of her life. The man and woman get together to help each other.

Dong-Hun (Lee Sun-Kyun) is married to Yoon-Hee (Lee Ji-Ah). His wife is secretly having an affair with a senior executive at the construction company where he works. Yoon-Hee wants to divorce Dong-Hun and marry the executive, Joon-Young (Kim Young-Min). Dong-Hun also has two brothers who live with his mother. The oldest brother, Sang-Hoon (Park Ho-San), doesn't have a job and he is separated from his wife. Gi-Hoon (Song Sae-Byeok) is the youngest brother and he wants to become a movie director.

Meanwhile, Ji-An (IU) lives in a difficult situation. She supports her grandmother who is unable to move by herself. Ji-An is also in heavy debt and is harassed by loan shark Gwang-Il (Jang Ki-Yong). She works as a temp employee at the same construction company as Dong-Hun. One day, she sees Dong-Hun receive 50 million won ($50,000 USD) of gift certificates. She goes back to the office late at night and takes the gift certificates from Dong-Hun's desk. She tries to pay off her debts with the gift certificates, but her plan doesn't work out.

Ji-An learns that Joon-Young, the company Vice President, is having an affair with Dong-Hun's wife. She goes to Joon-Young and offers to make Dong-Hun leave the company if he will pay her.

"My Mister" takes over tvN's Wed. & Thur. 21:30 time slot previously occupied by "Mother" and followed by "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" on June 6, 2018.
First script reading took place December 18, 2017 in Sangamdong, Seoul, South Korea.
Na Moon-Hee was originally cast to play supporting character Byeon Yo-Soon, but she had to drop out due to scheduling issues. Ko Du-Shim was then cast to play Byeon Yo-Soon.
Oh Dal-Su was originally cast to play supporting character Park Sang-Hoon. He dropped out of the drama series on on February 27, 2018 due to sexual harassment/assault claims from his past. Park Ho-San was then cast to play Park Sang-Hoon.
Ep.1 will run for 90 minutes (20 minutes longer than other episodes).
Ep. 13 and 14 of tvN drama series "My Mister" will air one week later than originally scheduled. Ep.13 and 14 will now air on May 9th and 10th to allow more time for staff and performers to film their scenes.

It was so depressing, Jang Ki-yong was such an evil & violent character with such a sinister smirk, Lee Ji-an was so dysfunctional, destructive & manipulating & Park Dong-hun was so naive. The violence & cruelty were too much. Finally, after reading many great reviews & failed attempts at watching, I started again last week. This is undeniably one of the Best dramas I’ve ever seen, if not The best. Every single actor did such an amazing job, the director couldn’t have been better. The writer, casting director & Every single contributor to this drama deserves a standing ovation. Soon, I’ll watch it again, this time with my husband. Thank you. Gamsahamnida.

The subtleties and the spectrum of real human dilemma, and how to deal with it without burying or denying it, is huge, and just left me utterly defenceless and vulnerable. In other words, this drama really provides ways to go, and ways to avoid, when dealing with trauma. I dare to say that My Mister is my "Cult Drama", it's so amazing!

Slight details of certain incidents, e.g in a club when it was black out just to put something in the directors drink she has access to the fuse box just as seamless as her friend who has ready with the vest top of the club, such a top notch careful plan executed in intelligence thriller (even the devices).

Like the phrase that pops up quite often in the drama, and importantly so, this drama is like a masterpiece that’s a warm hug and an empathetic ‘아무것도 아니야’ rolled in one. The story, the writing, the cast and performances - everything is top notch and you can only imagine an alternative more perfect than this. ‘Healing’ in the true sense of the word.

I came here just to applaud the makers and the casts what a great job they have done. The karaoke scene, the phone booth scene, the railway scene and many others will always live in my memory.

I gave and I still think this is the best K-drama I have ever seen to date. And, I rate this show as 9.5. Not 10, since I was and am hoping the happy together ending.

I really they will make an epilogue episode for the fans. PLEASE. Oh, please.

JD Sep 05 2022 3:13 pm I did not get beyond episode 4 of this drama; I was totally shocked by the immoral actions of the character Ji.An and her brother - not just the blackmailing of Dong-Hun, but the treatment of her grandmother. Ji.An ate well for many nights, paid for by Dong-Hun but fed her grandmother scraps from peoples's plates- eww! She had money to carry out the blackmail and ruin of another employee but no money to fed her grandmother. She showed no regret at what she and her brother were doing, and how her actions might affect other people. I see other people have written about the change in character, but that is fairy tale stuff, not real life. People's character show in their actions regardless of their life circumstances.

I took off a month break on this drama even though I'm already halfway through it because I felt like I can't finish it in one seating and the atmosphere felt very heavy (at some point) to watch. I never regretted it though, I think after I watched it again it just got more interesting and enjoyable. Very satisfied with the ending, I'm so happy that I actually shed tears when I watched the last minutes of the last episode. I love everything from beginning to end. 10/10. A great masterpiece.

Also, I think this is IU's best drama so far. Her acting was soooo good! I can feel deep emotions through her eyes. Whenever I see her on screen I suddenly felt like crying. Truly a gem. None of her other roles compares to this. IU nailed this one so much.

This show is probably not for everyone. You’ll need to be at a certain mood and maybe even at a certain stage in life to savor this properly.

It is also not your usual kdrama. The story and lives of our characters feel real and unpolished. They could almost be you and me, just going through the motions in life.

But while the poster and initial episodes look bleak and gloomy, you’ll find that as the story unfolds, it gradually blossoms to something warm and uplifting.

This rare combination of nuanced acting, thoughtful directing, fleshed-out storytelling, and overall message of hope and goodness elevates My Mister into a class of its own.

Highly recommended.

Although she did not win best actress award as she had a very stiff competition against many great actress. To me, she is a winner as this was one of the most emotional drama I have seen.

If you like them, hate them, distrust them, or are suspicious, feel empathy, or pity. Don’t look at previous comments, start each episode comments on a fresh page.

After the series is done, go back and enjoy your memories and opinions, and how they changed from episode to episode. For me, after the 3rd or 4th episode, I didn’t think I could dislike a certain character more, I won’t say who or why. I stopped and thought, there’s no way I could ever forgive what that person had done, yet…

This is a brilliant script, with brilliant directing, and brilliant acting. There isn’t a movie or series I’ve watched, ever, that I’ve liked better, k-drama or Hollywood.

MyMisterObsession Mar 16 2022 8:38 pm I admit, I am obessess with this series, I have watched it several times, completely, and everyday I go back and rewatch part of a scene or episode. I could write a book discussing the different things in the story that impacted me. Or just how I saw the story. This series just works on so many levels and for so many different reasons. I only saw one weakness, and had only one complaint. Complaint, I wished the two had stayed in contact afterwards. Weakness, Jung-Hee's storyline that she couldn't let go of her boyfriend from twenty years ago. I want to redo the show in English so that more people would have access to the series and clean up some of the translation issues (yeah, that is my level of crazy obsession, have started reading on how to fund a independent series) The story has the same level of significance to me in my late middle age as S.E. Hinton Outsiders did when I read that as a teenager. That it is on screen instead of a book, makes the impact even more significant. I couldn't begin to make someone understand the emotional connection I have with this series. I literally, can't let it go. Started looking up where to purchase the complete series, so that I can months or years down the road watch it again, like a good book.

Until I read the following comments, I started to watch it again and I finished 16 episodes in 3 days. Wow, I can't believe it so great, Yes it's so heartwarming and heartbreaking. Everything is indeed beyond my expectation i.e. actor, actress, director and writer in particular. It's a master piece. I knew IU's acting is great in Hotel Del Luna but I didn't realise she is also perfect in this drama. Thank you everyone for your comments.

Heartwarming because words that came out from Park Dong Hun is soothing everyone including me. Lee Ji An feel loved, protected and have something to hang on with his words and action. Park Dong Hun, got good friends in the neighbourhood and have a strong relationship with his brothers.

The heartbreaking because both of them got hurt with their own way. Lee Ji An never had someone who nice and honest to her besides her grandmother and the ahjussi from her school. It make her not trusting anyone and felt betrayal upon her parent debt and her bad history.

For Park Dong Hun, he always kept his problems his sorrows all by himself and it hurts… He also makes people’s problem into his account and not letting others do the same for him because he don’t want they feel burden.

I love how they complete each other in order to reach their own happy life that bound to happen.

This is my Top Tier Drama of all time. I didn’t plan to watch it but somehow I’ve finished it within 2 days. ?/10

Stephen B. Strum Dec 23 2021 11:39 am I had left a short comment while in the middle of viewing My Mister that related how touched I was by the relationship of Ji-An with her grandmother. Yesterday, I watched multiple episodes until the very end.

I would liken my experience in viewing this to reading Kahil Gibran. Youth vs. the elder, laughter vs. tears, emotional suffering and how crisis can lead to opportunity (in Chinese weiji)

危 wēi signifies dangerous or precarious 机 jī translates to "change point" in other words, when we are faced with something dangerous or precarious (a crisis), we are given a chance for change, perhaps an opportunity or new insight. 机会 jīhuì is the word for opportunity, and jī is a component

All the cast did a wonderful job. I remain enthralled and mesmerized by the talent of the Korean actors, and the wisdom of the producers, directors and writers. Hollywood could learn a lot from those of you in S. Korea.

In my next life, as a young man, I will journey to S. Korea to meet up with Ji-An (IU). I would want to learn if her soul is as beautiful as I believe it to be.

So Lala Dec 21 2021 11:34 am I wonder what spell this drama contains. Honestly, at first glance, this drama doesn't look that interesting. The story is not light either. The color palette tends to be somber even though it's warm. In essence, this looks like a regular melodrama. I also have no intention of re-watching the whole thing. Not because it's bad I just wasn't ready to ride that roller coaster of feelings again. But miraculously, I just peeked at episode 16 to see the ending scene And you know what? I cry. I shed tears. I don't know why. It was a hopeful scene. And I'm freakin crying. Imagine a form of entertainment has content so relatable it punch you crying by one scene. And I don't even realize it'd still be able to touch my heart the way it was. Wow... Just wow.

IluvIU Nov 14 2021 4:26 pm Another remarkable masterpiece. Not comparing to any Western family but for a low class Asian family, this is a very common type. I feel a deeply reference to my family. My dad never speak for himself, mom get bored of him al the time. Grandma always worry for her 3 children (aunt, dad and uncle) and grandpa just ignore things because he doesnt want troubles. I feel it in every scene that my family is the real model to make this drama. Ji An's situation is very common. A lot of people in my place are taking their family to live on the street and cant get up in this life. Life is so unfair for them. I love how IU acts cold and emotionless.. I literally get pissed to see her get harrassed and bruises everywhere on her small body. Her life is so harsh but a strong girl like Ji An endured that and IU has fully portraited her character. I thought she only good on pinky love or sitcom drama but turn out she is so versatile in dark and gray ones. Looking for her next serious project like this. This is a 10/10 drama. It worths every moment!

This drama holds a special place in my heart. I remember watching it unplanned, and end up fascinated by how good it was. Yes, I will say to those who are wondering whether to watch it or not, this series is slow-paced (read: well-paced); it is dialogue heavy and melodramatic for the most part.

However on the flipside, the story just felt so real, the characters were so believable, the script was smart & haunting at the same time. And I must say that, I think the reason this drama was well executed (for me, at least) is because the writer & director did their job fabulously. Both the screenplay & the direction compliment each other. There isn't a scene I would change.

Overall, I think the drama excels at conveying its message. You can't help but to reflect. It's heart-wrentching but in the end, beautiful. 5 stars from me.

P.S.: the accompanying soundtracks also made wonders to the show ;)

i love how Park Donghoon taking care of Lee Jian, glad he just like ahjusshi to her, if not, i’ll ship both of them.. same goes to Gwang-il, he’s a good boy but the story of the past with Jian turns him like that..

What I ended up doing is I have watched My Mister twice now and it managed to captivate me every single time. The acting, the storyline, the directing, all are brilliant and stay true to the characters and life itself. It even kept me thinking that these are real people, that somewhere in the universe that these people are living happier lives, esp. the main leads Ji-An and DH have found peace and their own healings and happiness.

I was apprehensive to start this drama since I don't like sad endings and this drama seemed to have a sad vibe. But out of boredom during lockdown I started it. I started watching it for Lee Sun Kyun as I've seen him in many other dramas as a secondary role. The first 5-6 eps were really hard to watch because Lee Ji-An's character was wicked and had no redeeming quality. And since I came to love Dong-Hun's character within the first episode, it was really hard watching him get ripped off by Ji-An and him continuing to help her, being oblivious of the fact that she's trying to ruin him. But as Ji-An changes for the better, the drama had a sad but very pleasant and hopeful vibe to it. I really love Dong-Hun's character and his voice <3 . But I do think that he was emotionally unavailable in his marriage and prioritized his siblings and friends over his wife and neglected her. Yoon-Hui was not the only one at fault. Dong-Hun, who is so kind to everyone could've showed that kindness to his wife before things got messed up. In the end, he was extremely generous in forgiving her but things could never be the same after that. It would be like living with each other simply for the sake of Dong-Hun's family. Although I love how kind and loving Dong-Hun was to Ji-An, often it seemed like he loved her more than his own wife. That is one of my main gripes with this drama. It is unique in the sense that there is no romance between the main leads and their bond is beautiful beyond a romantic sense. But seeing Dong-Hun's failed marriage, I wanted him to end up with Ji-An or anyone else really. And Gi-Hun breaking up with Yu-Ra was heartbreaking too. Overall, the drama is really gloomy but at same time comforting. The OSTs did a good job in giving the drama a mellow and comforting vibe.

This drama depicts difficulties many of us face through life. This is not your rom-com where the lead is happily chasing their dream person. While the last episode nicely ties everything together, be prepared to sit through agony, sadness, and pain getting there. If you need a show to sympathize with and maybe find a little happiness at the end of the tunnel, this drama will make you binge watch till the end. "My Mister" is well written and directed!

Back then, I thought it was just some dull drama about poor girl but it was actually more than that. I never expect IU to play such character. This drama portrays beautifully how 2 persons from different backgrounds getting tangled with each other without involving love. And the other side stories in this drama are also very interesting and memorable. Not to mention, I love all those ajuhssi from the bar as well. Everyone in this drama looks like one big family.

My honest review: I don't really like drama that have too much sad scenes that involve crying. This drama is kinda depressing too but not to the extent that i'll cry. I only cry on the last episode (I won't say the reason. Watch it then you'll know why.) I think the development of this story that made me want to watch till the last episode. It is truly a heartwarming and a stress-reliever for me!

Each person can decide to be as happy or miserable as they want. We never get the whole story about how the characters came to be estranged, but references are made to Yoon Hee always working late on cases.

It seems like a typical case where the woman decides that she didn't get her fairytale rich prince, and now has the "right" to cheat on her husband. BTW, how'd that fairytale marriage work out for Princess Diana? Newsflash kids: life is boring a lot of the time. Dong Hun sets the example by finding happiness in serving others, and even forgiving his cheating wife, when he could have had Lee Ji An.

Re: DH's marriage. It wasn't just Yoon Hee at fault, I think everybody can agree he emotionally deserted her, BUT in no way does that justify her cheating. You owe it to yourself to be faithful and honest in a union, so even with love lost the least you can do is break it off with them. Rail at them, confront them, rage at the unfairness of it all but don't lower yourself to lying, cheating, and scheming. I reckon she'd have just contiued on her merry way with the CEO if they didn't get caught by JA.

Now JA. Damn. What a character. All I can say is her devotion to her halmoni always breaks my heart. In a good way. She wasn't perfect but how much of you remains whole after all that heartbreak and pain?

I feel the pain in my chest. The way they protecting each other just makes me feel so speechless. I love overall of the drama how the director and writer brings a real life situation occurs in our environtment. I feel yoon hee loneliness, lee jian desperation and dong hoon silent. She had every right to quit her marriege and live the life she deserves but eventhough these facts, she had no right to cheat on his husband. Cheating means to not care enough to talk truths. In my opinion it is one of the lowest level that a relationship can reach.

He never talking with her wife, he prioritize everything above her wife, etc. Their relationship was done before the accident. And it's on him. Even after he knew she's cheating, what bother him is not the fact that someone he's in love with being with another man and potentially lose her feelings to him, in fact he only thought about he'll publicly shamed because the man is his junior, how his mom would react about that, how they must be together because they already been together for 15 years, etc. Nothing for yoon hee. Also, he himself is cheating. You don't need to be sleeping together to cheat. I hope every women (and men) wont never be in yoon hee position. I hope y'all find someone that love you for who you are not only as a pride. And someone that would put your feelings before everything and would give their best efforts to works your relationship, no matter how long it's already.

Without being aware of who was staring in this drama I started watching it because of how curious I was. I wanted to see where the plot of this story would go. When reading the description you can’t begin to imagine how deeply you will get involved with all these characters and their stories. I laughed, I cried, I became angry and frustrated. This drama was an experience that shows how life is for many people. The reality of a lot of the situations portrayed here couldn’t help but have a ring of familiarity within me, and I feel like a lot of other people could agree. Wonderful drama, with a wonderful cast and a wonderful message. I recommend this to anyone who wants to be able to take something and learn from what they have watched. I will carry this drama in my mind and heart for a very long time. Thank you to everyone who worked on this beautiful heartwarming story.

It tells the reality of life, the struggles of ordinary people: the bond of the three brothers despite their differences and problems; the kind-hearted and unselfish man, Dong-hoon who tries to fight silently his depression; the devotion and loyalty of a young woman, Ji-an to the man she loves from a distance (so near yet so far) ; the kindness of the neighbours/real friends/colleagues; the mom’s sacrifices and real loving care to her sons; the pure and everlasting love between grandchild and grandmother... the sincerity and pain shown by the movie actress Yoo-ra and by the cafe owner Jung -hee (Oh Na-ra); the wisdom from the monk, Gyum-duk; the turmoil of married couples and the consequences of being unfaithful to the other half. Lastly, but not the least, it conveys the audience that kindness and honesty win over greed and evil actions. The whole cast has done all these beautifully, exceptionally, and perfectly with their fantastic performances! Hats off of course to the scriptwriter and the director!

kai Nov 15 2020 2:20 am just finished watching this and i know i have to process everything for days. am i the only one who became obsessed w/ gi hoon and yoo ra? they weirdly have amazing chemistry I Love Them So Much and not a lot of people talk about them :(( lol i was so broken hearted i cried when they broke up. every story of the characters was obviously well thought out. every thing about this drama is brilliant and genius. though, i was a bit not satisfied w/ the ending.

I have never seen something that is touching, deep, and beautiful like this drama. I love how Park Dong-Hoom shredded tear for Ji-an, knowing how she rooted for him and protected him. I love the karaoke songs he sang for her. I love how he hold everything inside. I love how Ji-am loves her grandmother, how she listened to the wiretaps, how she rooted for him. The drama just made my heart sink but very fluttered at the same time. It's on my top 3 favorite now.

He understood her feelings and didn't do anything to taint that even though he has no intention to reciprocate her romantic feeling. It is sad to the fans but it is the right thing to do. The drama would've received harsh backlash if a father in his 40's dated his female employee who is in her 20's. It is for the best.

There are lots of moments that I might have missed or forgotten from few years ago, and it is proven when I finished the drama few minutes ago. This drama is a masterpiece, plot wise and casts wise. Unlike the typical drama where they used romance as the plot, this drama used romance as a trigger to the plot. It is a very humane drama, and it will definitely touch your heart, one way or another. To talk more about the drama, it's about how the casts heal each other's scars and bond as human.

I think that is enough review from me. Go watch it from Netflix or any website if you haven't yet, you won't regret it!

I started to watch this expecting that there will be a lovey-dovey romance, but to my surprise, I was not disappointed even though there was none(on my OTP). This is a dark-slow-paced vibe drama.

After finishing this, I was out of words. It was excellent. It was like closing a well-written book and you can't stop smiling for a couple of days. That is how good this drama was. Hopefully, you will watch this. No, I urge you to watch this.

Fave scene - it was a scene after drinking at Junghee's bar and they were walking Jian to her place she said something about wishing she was their age and she was answered with silence. This was the moment I realized that I would say the same thing because I knew nothing.

My mister has a dark vibe since the first episode, slow pace but really deep in every dialogue and scenes. If you said that IU was great on "Hotel Del Luna", you will find extraordinary performance from her in this drama. Every silence bring the tears and emptyness. What a great performance from her

First off, I avoid this type of drama, as life is complex enough so rather not to see sufferings on screen.

Also, albeit IU, the actors are (sorry) not those familiar to me.

But, out of of no where I started the first episode and then...I must say, after watching the popular Hotel del Luna, OK to be not OK, Crash Landing, The Witcher, Titans and many more, I have to say this is the best movie I watched in so many years.

No boring scenes. I especially like the end at Ep.14. Rewind it couple times. Even popped a beer for it. The acting is super top notch for all casts, especially IU who is really amazing as Jee An. This is the best I've seen her.

I do not really like the ending for some reasons, but this is a very good movie. I know it has the award, but awards don't usually tally with viewers' opinion.

Anyway, I thank the people making this movie which I will remember for very very long.

No words... but a lot of emotion. It always leaves me in tears. To the director, writer and everyone who worked so hard for this drama, congratulations for giving us this masterpiece. My wife (Malaysian) and I (America) watched all of the episodes of “My Mister,” and thoroughly enjoyed the plot, the intense human relationships and the realization that showing compassion, simple kind acts and love should be the goals, no matter which culture a person originates.

After the last episode, my wife and I discussed, in depth, each character, which we we were glad to see that there was resolution for each one because of the pain that they experienced throughout the story.

One last point, I related to Park Dong Hun the most, who struggled through His challenges and pain, having enough inner strength to give guidance, kindness and compassion to Lee Ji An. We all have pain in our lives... given to us as challenges to enhance our capability to show empathy and compassion to others.

Thank you for The story and please be careful during these trying times..

This drama is truly a masterpiece, very beautifully written, and delivered by the best cast anyone could ever ask for. The sincerity in the way they carried out their characters' loneliness, desires and desperations really shined through the screen. The main message, delivered at the end, brings me to a sobbing mess and I reckon anyone who has faced hardships at least once in their lives would become one too. The relationship between Dong Hoon and Jian goes beyond mere lovers - they were much much more, even without any skinship or romantic establishments. There's not a lot of drama out there that can make you feel so depressed and comforted at the same time, so I suggest not missing out on this experience. I'm certainly glad I watched it!

I love the bonding of the 3 brothers & how loving they are w/each other incldg how they take care of their mother! the LA makes me exhausted though how she cld manage everything that she's been doing aside from taking care of her grandma! This drama is quite diff & it makes you want to see more each time an episode finishes! I can't wait to continue watching!

After several boxes of tissues, several cups of hot chocolate, I stress ball, and so much food, I finally finished watching several hours ago! It was brilliant, it was emotionally charged, the drama addressed so much re love, abuse, isolation, broken relationships, family, strong friendships, corporate greed, genuine friendships, values..the list goes on. I would strongly recommend to anyone to sit and watch this beautiful drama captured by an amazing and talented casts. Lee Sun-Kyun, UI & everyone involved did such a magnificent job!!??????????????? Sabbie Jul 05 2020 8:50 pm This drama truly is a gem! I like how both the protagonists and antagonists are portrayed here. It showed that not all villains are truly evil (will have you kidnapped, killed, etc.). Some are just caught in a bad situation and some are products of a childhood they didn’t have any control over. Even the supporting characters, and there’s sooo many, had depths and compelling stories. Then there’s the lead ones.

Personally, I think the ending is just perfect. Though, it was hinted many times that they have deeper feelings for each other than just colleagues, Mr. Park and Ji-an getting separated and finding healing and happiness on their own was the best option. Atleast, no one can say that they ended up together because they are both “pitiful” and can relate well to each other’s situations. They have something beautiful, though. Like what the grandma said, “What a great relationship.” They know each other deeply, it was so good to see. If soulmates do exist, Mr Park and Ji-an probably are.

I know there’s a very slim possibility of having a second season but I still can’t help but wonder how the characters and relationships will develop. Either way, I’m glad I watched this drama. No wonder My Mister won Baeksang Awards.

Lee Sun Kyun at his best. His expression every single scene is exceptional. Though the end is open ending and left at your own, interpretation it is still by far the best Kdrama. How I wish there is a bit of closure at the end. Hopefully there will be Mr Ahjussi 2.

Both characters are amazing but at 5% of my heart's corner, I was wishing them to remain with each other not as a partner but as a friends or colleague... Drama is amazing and I wish to watch it's second series ASA it comes out..

Mostly, I enjoyed it because the actors sold the drama, but the writers put too many characters into the storyline, and the "unequivocal love" was a waste at the end. **SPOILER** The two main characters have a complicated emotional relationship. After enduring and embracing each other's hardships together, they have a lot in common despite their age difference. In the end, he and his wife are still together: yet, she and their son are living in the US now while he stays in Seoul. He seems to keep his promise and is living a happy life as a CEO, and she has found peace in her new life. Both have grown together and separately with great admiration for one another. It was an okay ending, but they may have well never seen each other again and just kept tabs on each other through mutual friends. Although you see a possible rekindle deep emotions through a small hand gesture and eye contact, it's just left up to your imagination.

The writer/screen writer masterfully wrote in such a way that support characters each had their full story and he made them matter to the audience by forcing us to see how key each character was to the whole product. Lee Sun-Kyun did a marvelous job of portraying a man who was living a defeated life that he could not find a way to overcome. IU's character too had lived to 21 never once feeling that she had had any choice in what kind of life she had been required to "live". How painful was her statement that it wasn't until her interaction with Park Dong-Hun that she had even known what it meant to be human. The director was very careful to allow us to observe, to listen but.. everything was understated, underscoring the helpless/hopeless state our main characters found themselves in. Lee Sun-Kyun's transformation in the last episode is so wonderful. His entire posture, his walk, the timbre of his voice and its enjoyment was seen and heard and rejoiced over. This was a wonderfully done drama and I believe it deserved every accolade it received.

Honestly I don't think there's a show better than this. It's so real and moving. It's not designed in a way that there is a lot of tension and suspense or tragedy. Yet tragedy and suspense are deeply rooted in the show and it dismantles it slowly, piece by piece.

You get invested in characters. You constantly want to just give them a hug. You sometimes want them to just cry, cuz it's okay to cry

This drama gives me heavy feeling most of the time, but there are warmness and pure sincerity that I could feel it too in between. All actors portrayed their characters so well esp Lee Sun-kyun, IU and Park Ho-san. I got so immersed in their emotions, felt so real. The OST and audio also took big part to develop the atmosphere. Some scenes where they put no music at the back and let the scene captured almost silently with only simple audio really hits me. Thank you for everyone who had worked hard in creating this drama.

Usually we only see the good side of Korea, with lots of fancy clothes and upper class people. But in fact, lots of Korean are living in poverty, like Lee Ji An in this drama, or like Parasite. That life is not uncommon and some people might feel uncomfortable watching this. But I feel like I'm learning so much from this movie and want to be a better person. Big fan of Lee Sun-Kyun after this drama.

No fancy clothes or romantic cheesy scene at all. In fact the main character was wearing only 1 pair of clothes throughout 15 episodes. But yet so touching!! So much chemistry between them. I watched it when it first aired and now its on Netflix, I rewatch it again and still have the same feeling

Sure it is not something to entertain you or make you forget about real life. It is about real life, with all its problems, but in a heart warming way. It tells about values and tells about unselfish love... I watched it and then went straight on watching it a second time, trying to understand why it ended as it did. Gosh, I would love to get into a long discussion with the superb screenwriter about this! Maybe she is right about the ending too (and by all means consequent), but anyway, she has created fantastic characters and very good dialogs. The actors are also all excellent. It beats me, how Ms Lee Ji-eun could bring this character at her age and with her experience. Lee Sun-kyun has made an incredible character credible for me. The only thing I can complain about is the director trying (or having been forced) to make the series longer as it needed to be, by long and meaningless shots of people running or driving, or just stealing time. Even so, congrats on this great piece of art. Thanks and please come back with more...

You got a family man, you possibly cant act like that if you've gone through babysitting, so cheer up. Understanding his wife cheating lol. Why you act like you have nobody and world is shit while even Exec. Director stand for you and help you out. Main and yet messy character. But show is great tho. I can understand why people don't watch it - they see this reality everyday, but they want adventure, entertainment and emotions, not the series that advertise boring and depressive lifestyle.

Cant say anything bad about actors either. But there's a major flaw that just crosses out all the goods of the show. The message of the series. The effect of it.

First on how I decided to watch My Mister. I've watched Mother (2018) and was absolutely amazed by performances and beauty of the series, characters of the drama. I never cried and was never so emotional for something ever. Even after second time watching it, I was totally stumbled of how good it was in every way. In the drama, I could empathize and even cry over the main villain (who killed kids!). Later I've found out Mother has recieved Best Drama award and somehow I stumbled upon My Mister, seeing it recieved same award next year. Apparently, I concluded that this is going to be something beautiful and life changing IN A GOOD WAY, and something I could dig into and in the end enjoy. But, I fell into awful trap.

In the first 6 episodes, I found myself on thoughts that I'm absolutely numb to main characters. They're bad. And you can't love them. The show itself tells not to, because it just doesnt have love in it for anyone. It doesnt give you love, it tells you to love and then takes your love and tramples it. I can't separate good from bad at some point, and because of that I cant sympathize main characters at all. The only characters I sympathized were Dong-Hoon's brothers and wife, although his brothers' hesitations and laziness at some point ruins even them. At the end of 6th episode I felt so done with the show I just couldn't IGNORE IT and LEAVE, but started to utterly HATE it. Like if it's a bad show, I usually say its flaws and all that leaving it, but this show isnt bad in this way. It's bad because it has a very bad message in a beautiful package. I couldnt comfort myself in any episode, because characters were total assholes. I mean, if you're asshole and total loser this show is for you tho. I guess it was created for these people - so total assholes could find themselves reasoning to keep being assholes without learning from mistakes and becoming a better people.

This show is absolutely NOT inspiring. It buried my inspirations. It offended me in a way nothing ever did. It buried my love to people as much as to kdramas. I trusted it and it trampled my soul. In a bad way. I got so tired of characters' hesitations and so tired of justifying their bad actions, laziness and depression that I just ended up hating them. Even I at some point of the show felt like I could came with a better solutions than characters, while they were doing their worst.

Knowing where this show was going, I stopped. I just couldnt handle the bullshit no more. The show is realistic but doesnt makes right accents on things. Seeing main characters cursing on other characters for doing tiny flaws yet being total douches themselves make them hypocrites and unpleasing to watch and to root for. And the show... it tries to protects these bad things of main characters, not to sort out where they are wrong and right. I could empathize such character (when it comes to empathizing villains), but those are not villains. When show directly tells you to sympathize bad people, it's awful. The good writing requires you to write it in a way so people themselves will have their feelings sorted out, yet here it's just too direct ending up delivering absolutely wrong message. 6th episode is the moment when creator of the show looses my attention, making me totally numb to characters. At this point the show looses me as a viewer. And this is apparently bad writing. Intelligent but bad writing. It messes your emotions, not provides you an emotional ride.

The jokes are very good tho, I laughed a lot really. It was something I really loved in the show, but I just feel like I want to end it on 6th episode. I'm not sure if I'll continue, tho if I do, I'll write a more full review to this once finished. For now, I cant help myself but to hate it. Sorry.

This drama was so hyped up and i can understand why, yet i believe its overrated. It has great dynamics, unique plot, screenwriting. Its so interesting. Yet, I've never watched drama being so NUMB to characters. Honestly. The show doesn't inspire.

There's almost no LOVE in series except the brotherhood. And characters don't even solve the problems, they're just living in their depression from episode to episode. You can't sympathize them, because at this point you yourself already could came with solutions, yet they just keep drinking over and over. And you're finding yourself feeling pitty to characters, and not in a good way. I feel like Im sympathizing more to wife of Dong-Hun than to him for these 6 episodes. I've had more worries for director Park Dong-Un than for Lee Ji-An because of what she did and kept doing from episode to episode (despite her problems).

As i said, characters are uninspiring. I can feel them and their problems, i can understand them, and even relate, yet i don't feel no emotions to them, because at some point you just get tired and bored of their repeating struggles and hesitations. You get tired of hating then loving them then hating again. The problem with the show is just its too painfully realistic, it becomes unpleasant to watch. The only character so far I've felt really sad for was Park Sang-Hun. Yet unambitiousness and lazyness of characters from episode to episode totally makes me upset. Cynism of the show really shows off, and some tropes make me hate some characters that supposed to be positive, not love them and learn from them. Intelligently written, but unenjoyable. Great writing requires writer to write the way it will touch and it just dont. At some point i became numb to this show, and lost sympathy to main characters.

Funny moments are great tho, but the show doesn't seem to drain any tear from me. At some point I feel like I don't want to continue really watch this drama, but its so well directed and i feel im obligated to finish it. Hopefully, it will get better. Because at some point it becomes absolutely unpleasing to watch, and only feeling i have from time to time is being offended. I don't even know why.

The OSTs too really so memorable this is my fifth time rewatch since 2018 and couple of languages subtitles-it’s finally showing on Netflix from this week too.

this drama is really a masterpiece and i believe it deserves more recognition than the amount it currently receives, Sun-kyun and IU’s performance is really remarkable as well as the other casts!

i just hope they ended up together because with the lines Ji-an and Dong-hoon throw at each other and the way they look at each other’s eyes it’s really obvious that their feelings for each other are mutual, however Dong-hoon being the righteous man he is, chose to stay with his family for the sake of his wife and their son.

I can feel the emotions of the characters because their acting was just sooooo good. And the music/soundtracks...ohh... I just love them. They suit each scene and added emotional touch on it. I can't stop playing the song in my head after watching this drama.

I have watch 60 something K-dramas. A lot of them are good, but not many of them are memorable. My Mister is one of the most memorable drama that I have watched, along with Reply 1988.

Please give it a try. My Mister is worth watching.

It has everything, extremely good acting,amazing cast, shooting locations. IU's performance in this drama is by far the best although i really liked her recent drama also but in my mister she portrays the character of lee ji ahn perfectly so much so that even we the viewers feel the same pain she is feeling. I highly recommend this drama

But his wife cheated on him and IU... honestly... Made him the man he is in the drama cause he was in 40's and still searching until he met her. She gave him everything.... I got so mad when a love story like that happens. She also knows and understand him more than his wife... I realize that he let her go and cry at the end cause he couldn't give up on his son and wife. Even when he loves her a lot. There was so many times.. I was like dude.. go back and hold her. Dont let her go!! .... Im so pissed ... that they just separated and then lead their individual life.. I wish the story showed her coming back and he is happily divorced... and this time he wont let her go... Im so hurt... ( thats how you know its a good drama cause of how I feel)

Now I love this drama so much. This drama is beautiful. Beautiful script, beautiful plot, and beautiful shot. The actors/actresses are really great. No wonder it won Best Drama in Baeksang Awards. So many lessons and heartwarming story in this drama. Aaand...also I like Lee Sun Kyun and IU. They're the best!

The chemistry really got me crazy! So many things that made my tears falls (her life struggles, the romance between them, grandma, etc) the ost also amazinggg. IU daebak!! SPOILER: if you don't cry at Ji An's grandma death / funeral scene, you probably are not human. There are many other scenes which will make you cry a river:

When Ji An apologised in the middle of street for wiretaping Dong Hoon

When Dong Hoon consoled her saying that he does not care about Ji An wiretaping him, and Ji An replied "I just want you to live a happy life"

When they hugged for the first time (and farewell each other temporarily

When Ji An remembers her late grandma's message to live a happy life to repay Dong Hoon and the neighbourhood

And finally when they're reunited at the end (albeit for very brief moment)! Dong Hoon's smile is the sign of pure love. When Ji An said "please let me treat you to delicious food for once and I will call you" aww I was so touched she's always direct and honest about her feeling. It also shows her intent to fulfil her late grandma's message to repay him. It's also fitting that she recognises his voice in the middle of the crowd even after not meeting him for long time, she knows his voice in her heart!

Watch these dramas and life is hard, simply remember one word

This drama is truly a masterpiece. I watched it knowing that it was 2019 Baeksang Award's Best Screenplay and Best Drama, plus it stars my beloved Lee Sun Gyun, and all such other accolades.

Buy boy, oh boy, first episode in and it completely stripped me of those expectations. It grabbed me and took me to the ground, made me feel like I am part of the plot, inside the frame, with the characters whose stories are very compelling and realistically haunting. It broke me, tear me down, picked me up, and cheered me on.

This taught me a ton of lessons I'll hold dear to my heart, which I'll forever be grateful for. I'm so happy that I've been blessed with this drama when I was at my lowest. The depressing state that the characters were in weirdly gave me comfort. Like Yura, it feels somehow comforting to know that I am not alone with my battle to happiness. And like others who are in the same state as me, I can also manage to stay happy despite all the bumps in my the way.

To anyone who is still hesitant to give this drama a try, may this review convince you now. You must, You Need to watch this series. It's waiting for you.

You could really feel every emotion the characters felt...I am beyond amazed as to how they filmed this drama, it's one of the few kdramas that left me completely speechless. ^^

Among all the KDramas I've watched, this is still the one on my top list. This drama is extremely realistic and relevant. It is just so unfortunate that this drama is so underrated. This is a drama that shows enlightenment and healing. It touches certain social issues such as poverty, violence, and a little of corruption. It also deals with moralism, cynicism, existentialism, and other things that provoke deep thoughts especially regarding life. Contrary to other KDramas, this drama is not totally focus on romance. Though, there are relationships existing, I am greatly impressed for it was not romanticized. I just really enjoy shows that provoke my thoughts and life philosophies. If you are looking for other KDramas that do not focus on romance but more on aspects of life, humanity, reasoning, and philosophy, here are my top KDrama picks: (1) My Mister (2) The Fiery Priest (3) Kingdom (Netflix) (4) Miss Hammurabi. I have yet to start Sky Castle and Prison Playbook, but I think these two would also definitely suit my list. Goblin, even though it revolves around romance, it is also one of my top picks since it also deals with life and death. In fact, it is the only romance drama on my top list.

However, you can provide comfort for someone. You can heal someone. It only takes a listening ear and a heart to try to understand the pain of others.

I never thought i'd cry for a drama. Its true some dramas ive watched made me sad with tears on my eyes but this is the first drama to actually make me shed tears.

In the past, I never found the point of writing a drama review in websites. However, after watching this, i've come to realize that this is one of the most underrated drama. This really taught me to appreciate even the simplest things in life which weve taken for granted until now. I never realized that a few words you say can mean so much to someone.

Another reason of how this drama is so meaningful; it teaches you about love. Sure, other kdramas always give us so much fluff and romantic scenes with a lot of kissing makeout etc. However, My Mister taught me love without those kind of things. A simple hug can mean the world to someone in pain. A simple hug can drag you away from suffering.

Sooooo, those of you whos still in a state of confusion whether to watch this drama or not, Watch It! :) Sure the story progressions kinda slow in the beginning but it will all be worth it once you get the feel of this drama. Im sure this drama will be precious to you in a way. Feel free to tell me ur review after watching this okay!:)

Fama Mar 07 2020 11:22 am I'm so taken in with this show. I never thought i would be. But I'm a huge fan of IU ever since I watched scarlet hearts. I know several people said here that they were doubtful of her being cast in this show. But I wasn't. There was something about her acting in scarlet heart that made me think she could do well in such a role. Moving on to this show, I love the attention to details. I love the bond between the brothers. It reminds me of the bond I share with my two sisters. We're exactly that close and the way these brothers react when one of them is hurt is exactly how we react. So its incredibly relatable. Only a few shows manage to get that sibling love dynamic right. And this show got it absolutely right. I love how the monk drove home his point by asking DH if he would want such a life for his son. That was profound in its simplicity and because of that, it finally got to DH's head that it needs to stop being so sacrificing. I find it heart warming that he considered JA to be someone he was staying away from due to his sacrificial nature. I love how JA has gotten so used to listening in on DH that she can tell what he's feeling from the way his breathing pattern changes. I think that this is particularly true when it comes to family. We call it intuition when we can tell that a family member is feeling a certain way but I think rather than that, its actually our brains noting the subtle changes in the way the breathing pattern changes, or in the way the footsteps sound different from before. All of these together send a message to our brain that we interpret as intuition. I also like how JA is a character that looks so vulnerable outwardly yet is so tough. She has her vulnerable moments yes and at core she's a scared child who is trying to put up a shield to prevent herself from further injuries. But she hasn't let that stop her from kicking into survival mode. I like that she's a fighter and that she doesn't give up trying to survive. It may seem odd but I like that she tries to grab whatever she can in order to survive. And I like that when it comes to DH, she can't be that ruthless anymore.

Coming to the romantic aspect of the show, I disagree emphatically with those who say that they see nothing romantic between DH and JA. Age difference? Pfft have you guys not watched Sound of music? What about Goblin? Both DH and JA are adults. JA is not underage. She has been forced to grow up before her time and because of that, I don't think she can ever be with someone who is as old as her. Had DH been the kind of man who I would worry about taking advantage of JA's young age, I would have rejected even the thought of them being a couple. But DH is a gentleman. Through and through. His stoic nature brings to mind Mr. Darcy from Pride and prejudice. People like DH who are that stoic, the moment they show even a hint of emotion is when you know that the small amount of emotion hides a storm within. I know because I'm like that. We know JA likes DH. Not only because he's kind. There have been other kind people in her life too. But DH is the one she fell for. Why? Because he sees her. He sees her soul. And she sees his. That is love at its purest. Romantic love. For me this the very definition of true love. For you to see deep into the other person and just accept them. There have been countless times when DH just seemed...aware that JA was in the same room. His eyes seem drawn to her. That's not platonic. In the episode where JA tries to kiss him, the way he hold her back and tell her to stop twice even though she wasnt trying anything again, told me a lot about what he feels. He seemed to be protecting himself in that particular moment. As if he was trying to fight himself. Why? Because he has morals and because he knew that it was dangerous to feel this way when he was married. I think that particular moment showed us clearly the difference between yoon hee and DH. YH fell in love and gave in to it. She began an affair with no thoughts to her marriage. While DH felt the first stirrings of love and yet held himself back. He was shaken by it. But it could have simply shrugged JA off and scolded her for it. The fact that he has to tell her to stop twice even when she has already stopped and is just standing there, the fact that he was holding her arms so tightly showed in my opinion how deeply she affects him. Then he beats up kwang il. In the 11 episodes I've watched, I have seen DH lost his cool and do something violent only thrice. First time with kwang il, second time with JY and the third time at the end of this episode when he punched the door. I dont count the hammer thing he did since that was a very planned move. This spur of the moment violence was always brought about by intense emotions. JA is someone he feels for with alot of intensity. Mere pity can't evoke such emotion. Even in friendship, one does not go ballistic and see red. Yeah sure friends will all rush to beat up someone but they'll go together as a gang. By walking into that place alone, by going there without any plan, without even thinking of how this act might negatively impact his personal and professional life, he shows he feels more intensely for JA than mere friendship. This is only my opinion though. Next is a scene from episode 10, one which I don't think many people noticed . I was barely paying attention the first time I watched that since my sister asking me something but it still caught my eye and rewinded it to make sure. In episode 10 when DH and his colleague are talking about deputy kim having a crush on someone in the office, I saw DH suddenly tense up. It's barely there but it caught my eye because he was leaning against something casually and then suddenly seemed to be at attention. It also seemed like his attention had been elsewhere initially but he was suddenly all ears. But the minute his colleague said that its unrequited and that the woman has a boyfriend, he seems to relax. I feel like he thought that the woman might be JA and he relaxed when he heard the words unrequited and boyfriend, like he was kinda relieved since it couldn't be JA. The makers of the show have said that its not a romantic show. They're right. It's not. Because the show is not ABOUT the love story of DH and JA. But that doesnt mean they don't love each other. And yes I definitely mean that in a romantic way. They way these two are affected by each, the way they hover around each other, they way they look at each other, its all there. JA is far too world weary and mature for her DH to treat her in a fatherly way. There's nothing fatherly about the way he treats her. He treats her like his equal. Some might argue that the same could be said for a friend but DH has friends. The intensity of his gaze, the way his eyes instinctively find JA are all beyond friendship. They are soulmates and soulmates will always find each other. As for those who still think this marriage can be saved, I don't think it can be. In my opinion, once a partner cheats, its over. There are a thousand things that can be done to avoid cheating. You can tell your partner that you want a divorce. You can communicate with your partner about what is bothering you in the relationship. So many things that can be done. YH is a successful woman. She has a career. She's earning. DH is a kind man. She could have told him that she wanted out. But by keeping him in the dark for a year and having an affair with someone her husband detected, she became the worst possible person for me. And she didn't come clean herself. What hits me hard is that she might have never told DH any of it had JA not told her that DH knew. That's sick. What did she have to fear from simply getting a divorce the first time she realized she had feelings for another man? DH wasn't abusive. she wasnt depending on DH for money. Why then? Because she was selfish. She betrayed DH in the worst possible way and I see no reconciliation. There shouldn't be. No matter how kind DH is, he won't stay with someone who betrayed him like that. Though the show may not be a love story, I believe that after the last episode ends is when the love story between JA and DH will begin.

I envy their neighborhood and their solid friendship. So many heartbreaking scenes like Gyeomduk (Monk) ang Jung Hui talks about them.. I thought their going to end up together also. Park Gi Hoon and Yoo Ra's break up scene..... ?

As far as my smol brain is concerned, I think he broke down because of the misery he went through even though he tried his best to avoid all the tragedy that recently happened to his life — most specially the break up of his marriage. Combine that of not seeing/contacting Ji An anymore for what he thought could be a very long time and living alone in his apartment. No man can ever hold out his tears for too long in that situation.

In IU tv, they had a caption indicating JiAn was 22? meaning a year older than when JiAn and DongHoon went their separate ways.

I have been waiting for that scene to happen ever since she demanded a hug from Dong Hoon but got rejected, like, ten episodes back. My feelings of exhilaration began when Dong Hoon started looking for Ji An in the corners of the street right across Jung Hee's bar, you know it's more than just being kind to someone when you long for that person's presence. He cares about her so much he's suffering when she's out of touch. There might be no in-your-face declaration of love but their actions toward each other speak louder than a mere Saranghaeyo.

The last scene has indicated that it has been over 5 years since they last saw each other. They were both hesitant to face apart and the handshake was firmly gripped by Dong Hoon it left an imprint on her hands. The proposal by Ji An to buy him a delicious meal is telling us about their actual first date that's about to happen. But, I bet she's not going to go back to that old neighborhood and live there (actually, it's a good thing to move on from a very painful past, I've experienced that myself).

From then on, watching at least 5 highly praised Korean shows/year has been pretty much the norm for 16 years now until I came across this drama. It is so good, in fact, this is the only show where I was so down in the dumps multiple times. And it is so good that I've been feeling so melancholic for days now. I've never been moved like this nor felt empty after a show. I wish that this drama was actually happening in real life to the characters in play and I've never shipped mains so hard like this one to the point that them glancing at each other in the office has already been so exhilarating for me. Ji-An and Dong Hoon deserve each other's company. A love so unconditional it's very comforting, consoling and heart-warming to watch the two of them work their lives out to get rid of misery out of the way. I'm so out of words I can't explain how good this is! I can't even forgive myself for skipping this out last year for 30 But 17 (still a good one though).

Also, I never thought IU would become such a great actress despite her other talents. I've been crushing on her back then, but more so now that there is a smear of maturity clearly shown on her face. She's getting prettier by the day as her age goes up and she's still so tiny I could hug her all day every day.

The pictures on the hero's office show that his wife is living with their son in America, meaning that he separated from his wife, and his younger brother again began his career. The ؟؟؟؟ matured and grew up and succeeded in her working life And the scene of the end: His look with holding her handو and did not leave it , only to what she told him that she will call him and will buy him a delicious meal .. It was wonderful .. She explained that their relationship will start. Yes, the scene of the end was a new beginning for them all the staff , main actor ,main actrees , writer, and director were great .. and made the feelings realistically .. I did not think for a moment that it was unreality

Love-lorn fangirls and boys looking for saccharine romance won't find anything interesting here. This drama also avoids many of the usual trappings of other Kdramas. For example, 1) excessive use of interior monologue and soliloquy. Writers often resort to this narrative device when they are unable to advance the plot with just dialogues and actions of the characters. Judicious use of it is OK, but when used too often, it distances the audience from the characters since the audience becomes omniscient bystanders. You won't see any characters monologuing here. And 2) incessant plot twists and cliff hangers that seem just for the rating-retention.

The overall theme of My Mister, I think, is that a community of caring and kind people can heal each others' wounds as well as heal those around them. The family interaction among the three brothers was moving and heartfelt. Dong-Hoon's kindness to Ji-An and her transformation is the central plot; this too was very moving. I found myself cheering for the main characters. Any drama that can move the viewers to make this sort of emotional investment to the fictional characters must be successful. And indeed, My Mister does exactly that. So this is one of the best dramas that I've seen in the past several years.

There are a couple of minor shortcomings, however. Ki-Beom is poorly presented. I only mention this because he provides Ji-An a mean to eavesdrop on Dong-Hoon which is crucial to the central plot. I have no idea where he's from or why he helps J-An. Also, the motivation behind Dong-Hoon's wife's infidelity is not very convincing which is more problematic. It's shown that she felt lonely because her husband was too attentive to his extended family. But given Dong-Hoon's character, I'm not convinced that this is enough of a cause of her infidelity. Again given Dong-Hoon's character, I would think that he would have reached out to his wife long before she could be led astray like this. Overall though, My Mister is a moving drama for the mature.

P.S. I've never worked for a Korean company, but it seems to me that the architectural firm where Dong-Hoon works has the most toxic work environment I could imagine. As with most Kdramas where a company is involved, My Mister has that usual corporate power-struggle angle, but the presentation of it was not overly intrusive. Otherwise, I was afraid it would degenerate into the usual formulaic mini-series. I can't imagine a company like that would ever be successful, so when Dong-Hoon and his subordinates are shown to have left to build their own firm, I thought that made sense.

I’ve watched so many over the years, but I still come back to My Mister when I need to be reminded that everyone has a story, and everyone just needs someone to show them the way. Director Kim Won Suk is a master storyteller, whose skill really hooks us in, and luets us reel away and back again, but always staying hooked to the narrative of every single character on the show. My Mister deserves so many more accolades and awards for its creators, cast and crew. It is the best Korean TV drama in my books!

To say the least, IU’s character was underwhelming as she was reduced to being a spectator in her own life’s story. The performers did what must be done, though I do not foresee a daesang award for this drama in the future. No fault to them, that’s just the difficulty in doing slice of life. As it is in life, everyone’s slice is different. For those considering whether to watch this, I say go ahead, when you have nothing else to do. The character are well-acted; the plot well written; the story, well you be the judge of that.

Side note: I’m not Korean, this I can only give an outsiders perspective into their society neither can I claim to understand the intricacies of everyone’s culture but the one who suffered most in the drama, the one I empathize with, is the CEO. What’s a person to do if the whole world looks up to you with scorn for pursuing your selfish desires?? I pity him the most because there is no-one at side to pick him up as he falls.

Un modeste admirateur Nov 21 2018 12:10 pm I didn't have time to watch "My Mister" during its airing, but I am glad I found time now. It's clearly a masterpiece. The scenario is the smartest and deepest I've seen in years, involving not just a duo, not just a brotherhood, not just a family, but a whole neighborhood. There were lots of lessons about helping your next of kin, and learning to forgive their mistakes. The actors are incredible, starting of course with the main duo, IU and Lee Sun-Kyun. The production work is just amazing. So is the music, including the emblematic song that we call in French "Million de roses". On the downside, the ending of the drama went from smart and deep to somber and depressing. I don't want to SPOIL, but let's say that, after having triumphed over evil, and eliminated all the obstacles to job promotion, love and happiness, the good guys suddenly renounced these same job promotion, love and happiness, as symbolized by the figure of the Buddhist munk living in the mountains. Chastity and detachment suddenly became the pinnacle of a pure life and a true relationship. I was left unsatisfied and frankly annoyed.

The both character feels so real and wish i could hug them and tell them everything that happen its not a big deal at all. Luckily both of them find a peace at the end even tho they are not together. I also like the other brothers character. That a siblings, we fought, we mad and cursed at each other, yet if you cry i cry, you in pain and i feel that too. The writer has done a very good job and also the actors. Im not a fan of IU but i can tell you this is one of her masterpiece. Please watch everybody!!! You wont regret!!! 9.5/10

It shows the struggles of life instead of the usual poor girl & rich man; two characters who were at odds with each other but later falls in love; the rich are arrogant, powerful, & evil, etc. All of the cast played their characters so well esp the main leads (I think IU really suit this type of roles). This drama was a rollercoaster ride, but made me cry most of the time. Rendiishere Oct 12 2018 4:40 am This drama is insanely good. Like binge-watch, unpredictablly good. I like the office politics story at first but it rolls to the entanglement of the characters and the extent of their relationship making it not only a "slice of life" drama but also an emotional one. Main casts are superb, iu and sun kyun carry the length of the drama with their acting, and they can potray the weigh of their character flawlessly making you to root for them and their struggle in life. This drama has its own well executed roller coaster, it calm before the next storm, calm again before all hells break lose (lol), some of them i think will be classics like it will be parodied in variety show or such. However, i think it's not a drama everybody loves (most of the case, the lovey dovey type), hence the 87 score (it's not high enough considering romantic ones tends to have 90+ scores easily). You either love it or got bored before ep 1 ended bcs (i think) of the slow pace of the story and many characters (including the brothers and bar owner) have their stories of hardships. The ending is satisfactory, it's not something forced like some others, not all ended in happy one, some still finding it, and that's life, there's room for possibility, this open ending fits the drama well. I felt good after quite some time, it has the same feeling misaeng had for me, to keep fighting and finding happiness in this life.

jazzy Aug 19 2018 10:13 pm one of the best dramas i have ever watched. amazing acting from the entire cast. plot was something never done before, both comedic and mysterious. i was never left bored during a single minute of it! IU's acting was spectacular. fell in love with the brothers and their whole relationship. i was left counting down the days until a new episode would come out and i was never left disappointed. way better than these dramas you see now a days where its really shallow and the whole plot is about how hot the guy is, or how pretty the girl is etc. also the osts were so good. fyi the fighting scene got a lot of hate but i don't understand why???? its a drama is supposed to be dramatic but anyways recommend 10000000%. one of my favourite dramas ever! thank you if u actually read all of this LOL.

The overall storyline is abit messed up and combines with a slice of life. There is not much great interaction between the main leads as its more of IU just listening in to his daily life and reacting to it which actually does not really show as much of her acting skills. If you stay til the end which is pretty hard to do for this drama, you will feel rewarded tho.

Sunday Jul 20 2018 3:01 pm I actually wasn't planning to watch this drama at all. However, I was so bored that I just decided to give it a go and then I suddenly found myself binge-watching it. The story, the characters, the actors & actresses in this drama were just so incredible. I love the character developments. I love watching each character's stories unfold. No one was perfect, but they were all so kind. And I think that's the reality of life. Everyone is so quick to judge someone based on the their bad points that they don't take the time to hear their stories and see the good in them. Personally, I'll like to believe there is more good in this world than bad. I also love how Ji-An and Dong-Hoon both learned about their own self-worth because that is something that many people struggle with. A lot of people never feel like they're good enough and capable of being loved. Everyone was amazing playing their roles, but Lee Sunkyun and IU were spectacular. I was really impressed with IU. She is showing so much growth as an actress. Anyway, I love this drama and will definitely watch it again.

Also, I just want to add that my heart hurt so much when IU's character came to the realization that she was capable of being loved despite how horrible life has treated her. She was a character who grew up with a lot of pain and hardships, so that moment she cried because it hit her that there's actually someone in the world who is genuinely kind and cares for her hit me hard as well. Not because I can relate, but I know there are so many people in the world who don't know how it feels to be loved and cared for so they grow up seen as a "bad" person but the reality is you can't expect a person to be good when the reality they live in has been bad. And that reminds me, I'm a bit sad we didn't get to see what happens to Chang Ki Yong's character, Lee Gwang-Il. He treated IU horribly, but I always had a soft spot for him. His story made me cry even though they didn't show the viewers a lot of it.

I loved the relationship between the residents in the neighbourhood and how they care for each other. Now lets talk about the acting, they all did so good but my award goes to Park Dong-Hoon and Lee Ji-An they did an amazing job and i can't describe it by words but their acting was superb. I highly highly recommend this drama. Just go and watch it I promise you will love it.

Side note I just realized when glancing at future show Today's Private Investigator... The actress who played the cheating wife=Lee Ji Ah... The character IU plays=Lee Ji An. That has to be a weird experience for the actress Lee Ji Ah (I despised her almost the entire show meaning she was super effective!)... almost as weird as an unusually named actress Hwang Jung Eum playing a character alsp named Jung Eum or the lead actress in Strong Woman and Oh My Ghostess playing someone named Bong Soon in both back to back.

Gshock Jun 17 2018 8:14 pm What a great drama. Its not perfect( I found some loopholes and scenes that can be done better) but it was full of heart wrenching and relatable scenes. The actors did a great job in portraying their characters especially the main leads. I can feel the pain that they were carrying on those intense moments. The supporting cast did a great job in lightening the mood and create a dynamics that make the story even more interesting. Especially the two brothers. I find their story very relatable to my life, since we are also that close with my two siblings but not to the extent of drinking everyday (LOL).

This drama tells us how the world is pretty scary, full of competition, selfishness and temptation that only few are capable of restraining to it. Some of us were lucky and some were in a very horrible situation that sometime we misunderstood that we judge them without understanding their circumstances. Life is like a rollercoaster sometimes were up and sometimes were down... its no big deal.

Daylight Jun 06 2018 4:18 am Where do I begin? I enjoyed this drama more than I thought I would. It tugged at my heart strings and made me cry like a baby. It showed me that all it takes is one person to save your life. Even if you don't think you need to be saved you can always find comfort in someone else. And also to never hold onto your past because it doesn't define you. Such a deep, emotional, and loving drama. I cried when they cried and smiled even brighter when they smiled. Even now I can't stop thinking about the characters because they impacted me so much. Park Dong Hoon and his whole family and friends were the nicest people and they are the definition of a true family. I really recommend this drama.

The superb, exquisite blend of writing, directing, acting, cinematography and soulful music had me completely engaged. Kudos to the director, the writer, the entire cast, and the music editor/director/singers/composers. I just finished watching My Ajussi and want to SEE IT AGAIN!! I couldn't help remembering the first time I saw LSG in Behind the White Tower and recalling what a MENSCH he was in that drama - how his character's decency contrasted with the leading man's. That experience caused me to abandon Pasta after just a couple of episodes; I couldn't bear to see him play an arrogant chef. LSG's portrayal of Dong-Hoon was so compelling and REAL. Not to mention IU as the indomitable Ji-An. So many heart-tugging themes to ponder in this drama: loyalty, friendship, community, and intimacy, to name just a few. This drama is a work of art. Hope it wins loads of awards and recognition. It deserves it. As it deserves a higher rating on this page. (Bet the shippers attacked)

The case of a girl LEE Ji Ah was in love with a married man because she saw the man Park Dong-Hoon , his concern for her but still it’s wrong even if the wife of the man Park Dong-Hoon had done terrible sin. The married man decision is right, in ending, has freed the girl Lee Ji Ah because she has long way to go, eventhough from Lee Ji-Ah’s part hurts her a lot, pretty sure same with the man but still not good. Forgiveness to his wife is right and love here exists. Sometimes we commit sin as though we were blind to the fact we know it's wrong but it's just tempting, but when you've got to realize that it's only one more blow to your life. It does not mean that breaking a relationship is the solution to your problem. If there has still way why not solving it for the sake of your family. Pride is not the solution. Every scenes here is real, from office, from bar to home ..etc… love this much. Thanks to the director and the staff and casts, hats off. More drama to come. Romance , comedy love drama. From oppah to IU, good in acting.

Cheryl May 20 2018 9:40 pm Have never watched a unique plot such as this that demonstrates love on all dimensions. Not sure how the scriptwriter can come up with something like this cos agape (unconditional) love is SO SO SO difficult and almost to the point of being unachievable.....

Of course there was a lot of sacrifice and forgiveness in this show that makes me bawl in tears. That is why l absolutely am amazed that for once l get to watch a kdrama that doesn't dwell on cheesy romantic unrealistic love.

Thank you all actors and actresses in this show for choosing to act in this drama although it may not get your ratings up. Cos many people who are only keen to watch romcom would have given up on this. This is the BEST show l have ever watched after watching over 150 kdramas.

Beyond all the deep meanings that I felt during the growth of the various characters in "My Mister" there is a constant search for peace with the world and with oneself, there is a serenity that is disturbed and sought even by the monk who initially seemed the only one to own it. There is so much to say but it's all hard to put into words ... it is simply a wonderful drama, a MUST-SEE.

Yes, they got a divorce. That's why DH isn't wearing a wedding ring in the last scene with Ji An. When he's talking to his friend in the cafe, it was mistranslated as "my wife" when he was saying "son's mother". (Plus, the pictures of the mother and son and he and his brothers.) So I think after Ji An buys him that delicious meal, they will have a relationship — plus, the look that they give each other at the end. What an amazing drama, It just shot up to my #1. I can't wait for some time to pass so I can binge-watch it.

anonymous May 18 2018 9:33 pm This is the best drama of 2018 so far. It's perfect and successfully portraying reality about people and life unlike any typical Cinderella-type or cheesy romance drama. As for the ending, I think he got separated with his wife, because there's no photo of them together again (family photo of three) but only his wife and his son in the photo and him with his brothers. He also explain that his wife will continue her study abroad and not only visiting their son. He cried only to express everything after all that happened in his life as her younger brother's suggested in their last conversation. When he met Ji an, he becomes excited, look back and smile. cheerful as ever. the same goes with her. I kinda want to take it as a sign of leave it to your imagination about what happen next after they eat together again. Best drama, I hope they will get Baeksang award for this.

I just want to comment on the special relationship among the brothers, so real and precious. The last scene at the restaurant where IU and Dong Hoon told how they saved each other's lives was just so wonderful.

They should tho, even the ost's all good! Definitely no 1 drama for me! Good jod writer, director, crew and all the casts! P.s : i learn so much from this drama ( and this is the first time i could actually gain something from watching drama ?, i mean it)

Qmdepo May 18 2018 12:34 pm It will take a while to get back my wednesday-thursday excitement of waiting an episode of a korean drama. This is surely among my top 5 off all time,if not top 1. You know there's love going on there but the director didnt push it through because i think it will ruin the overall authencity of the characters, love evry bit of the cast, each have a deep level in their character and i did hope that they shouldve extended it by 2 episodes, but the last episode did not disappointment me at all. Highly recommended, and expect that this drama will get a ton of awards by yearend.

When she turned to look at him walking away, she said to herself "there goes the guy who make me live again"..damn..i was crying my eyes out when i imagined this lines in the last scene if the final episode. Of course it was not in the scene but i could not help imagining it..to me those two lines (mentioned in different scenes of course) were the one made all the anguish feelings i had watching the 2 leads suffering more bearable..kudos to the entire crew n actresses and actors..a quality drama..i knw many is asking for season 2. I would be as satisfied if it is just a special episode to see them together..this timw ji an is all grown up, so those 2 can really be involved..just like the leads in Doctors..jeball..#mywishfulthinking

Elmer May 18 2018 6:45 am A Very quality drama! This is will be one on my top lists. This is what a real drama is. Ohhh, I love it. IU is so great. The actors are perfect. The story is of the best quality. The director and producers didnt waste any, they really did great.

Also one of the reasons I love this is how they taught us the reality and how true people can still achieve happiness after all the pain they went through. Ajjussi is really an honest person. No matter how bad can people do to him, no matter how much sufferring he feel, every one can still lead a better life. That's what get him his position. It's very rewarding how they have resolve all of this. Really reflected on Ajjussi x wife x Jerk CEO and IU x gangster loan shark.

Let's be good people guys. Let's be the better one in this world full of conflict.

andre May 17 2018 10:00 pm "My Mister" is the best kdrama i've ever watched so far. it's so well directed that i haven't found any scene that seems overdone or useless. all the actors acted really good. usually when i hear IU did a drama, i think it was going to have lot of cringey scene, i was wrong, there is not even one cringey scene in this drama. IU acting skill has improved a lot. watch this if you haven't. you won't be dissapointed

I had high expectation but didn't have any idea what will a drama with an ahjussi and a young woman will be about? then I saw the writer is oh ha young's writer, so I thought it will be a cute loveydovey drama like Goblin. THENNNNN i watch and MY HEART!!! I cry a river every episode so touching! there's not a single thing i would complain about this drama. it's nothing like goblin or any drama i've ever seen haha stupid me compared this to goblin T_T it's exceed my expectation, a very heartwarming (but also heartbreaking) story about life, work, family T_T its not a romance drama but you can feel all the love & chemistry between the leads. BEST drama of 2018 i can say that i don't think there will be other upcoming drama can compare to this. BEST directing, writing & best cast!!!!! all of you should get all awards!!!

Sad they didn’t end together but it was a great way of ending a drama without twisting anything. That hug was unbelievably the most touching hugs i have ever seen in my entire life

Every episode leaves you hanging and wanting for the next to come. Dong Hoon character is tailored made for Lee sun Kyun. His control of his emotions, fantastic. IU, i've watched scarlet ryeo, she is a good actress. and she easily cries. i hope the writer will end this with a positive scenario.

This is the first time I actually only watching this drama for the supporting characters that woman from the bar her name is YungHee I guess? I'm more interested to know more abouT her stories with the monk than everyone else in this drama. I just hope they will make more storyline for her and that monk. As for the leading actors I can already see where their stories lead to it's very predictable thats why I'm not curioUs

Im afraid that i couldnt be able to live if i failed. That will be the end of the world for me. I had so many worries inside my head. That's why i could understand why yoo ra feels relieve and envy those who failed and still live just fine. It just prove her that it's ok to failed, that's not the end of the world, look at these people they're failed yet still living just fine and moreover she think that since they have been failed, they don't have to worry or afraid of failure anymore. Lovetoprocrastinate May 07 2018 7:51 am Whenever I finish watching an episode of this drama I find myself sitting there evaluating what the characters did and why, what the reasoning for their actions are and whether or not it is morally acceptable. What I'm trying to say is that this is the kind of drama that makes you reflect on your own morals and values, something so rare nowadays. The characters feel real, and their emotions are so raw and powerful. Everything about this drama, including the cast, is just extremely well picked and crafted. Despite it being more grounded in reality than many other dramas, not a second of it is boring or repetitive. It really is on a league of its own.

I think what really makes the story line interesting is that the evolution and growth of the characters which makes me to watch it raw even if I don’t understand the language and then watch it again as soon as the sub is available.

I think IU did a good job in her acting! I love how evil and good her character is. And of course, DJY and his whole neighboorhood! They provide so much positivity and fun to the viewers! Love the show. REALLY! ?

CW Apr 30 2018 9:53 am Wanted to say alittle more about this drama. I've finished watching ep 12. I love about Korean perspective, that all people are bad and good. This is a more common moral in Kdramas than in American. It does happen in American, but not with the kind of emphasis that it does in Kdramas and it's a particularly good thing to remember, always. To ease up on judgements of others, but to set straight what is wrong. I most of all, am learning this at my late years in life. I find these cultural awarenesses quite good in Kdrama land and I hope to see it continue. There is one area that is a hard thing. Age difference. Look, love, real love, just doesn't concern itself with age. There are predators that seek out someone young, that might be different, there, you know it's not right, but in the case of these 2 brave souls, that have tried to do the right things in a world that expects and promotes the wrong things for greed or hunger , etc...these 2 could end up together and it would be fine, I think it could actually work. However, it also would be fine if they end up good friends. However, to be as close as they are, for watching out for eachother, it really is like love in an almost Divine way. Fate brought them together. They are fighting the good fight with their lives and although it would be typical they do not end up together, I think it would be better if they did. Because society is too used to keeping to the painful boxes we've built, it would be nice to see, the 2 bravest people, to come together in happiness. No one would blame them, if they did. IU's part, Ji-An asks us to look past stereotypes and to see truth of things. She's a truthful archetype. Ah, I am going on~ I love Kdramas.

The plot and characters are endearing. And how the melodramatic flow progresses, you can't help but get absorbed into the world and emotions of the characters.

A wonderfully crafted drama with awesome cinematography that's so unlike the other run of the mill dramas...

Even though there is no intimate scenes, the moments Ji An and Dong Hoon are together are actually romantic and you can feel the connection between them.

A+ I’ve been seeing people wanting LJA and PDH to be in a romantic relationship but honestly, if they were to be in a relationship, the dynamic between them will just die. They are more of a friends(?) someone that you go for comforts. I really think that the drama is telling that their relationship is anything but romantics. At some point of our life, if we’ve been treated badly, then someday comes someone that is kind and everything we ever wanted to us. We would like them. But trust me it’s not more than that. That’s what I think about their relationship. I really hope that this drama doesn’t go for romantic relationship. That’s all

I like her.Both she and Sun Kyun stand out. The lady that plays the elder that can't speak, touched me. It is personal, but I instantly loved her. Son Sook. The drama itself, although still around the general formula, is really well written in terms of plot. Directing is good and production is good too. This is a drama I'd recommend to others to see. Been a pretty long while since a good one showed up, too bad it isn't promoted alittle more, but it's fabulous!!!

Honestly, this is my first to watch Lee Sun Kyun TV Drama and even it's first time... I really like him... He might older than IU, but who cares.... I find cuteness when they are together... I love to see Lee Sun-Kyun's smile...

It's not only because of IU why I watch this drama but the story itself... (The man and woman get together to help each other).. this thing can be also happen in real life... not all grandchild could do what Lee Ji-An sacrificed for her grandmother and not all man can be like Park Dong-Hoon..

Now, I am very curious how this story will end... how the writer will end about Park Dong-Hoon and Lee Ji-An story...

but I really wish that Park Dong-Hoon will divorce his cheater wife and be with Lee Ji-An instead... (She's young? who cares... she's already 24)

Cherry Apr 26 2018 5:32 am Must watch!!! One of the best dark and realistic plots ever. The drama had me all tearing up with Ji An's tragedies all rolled into a sad sad backdrop. Ahjussi's overwhelming sense of obligation to his family made me want to give me a big hug and with the final explosion of angst towards his betraying wife in episode 11 had me cheering and feeling that justice will finally be served!

Almost choked though, when some sub characters were describing IU as "not pretty" . This must be the first in Korean history such a statement is being scripted for the main character!!

Lee ji an life is so complicated that results to her coldness. But when I saw her cried in episode 9 the ICE CRUMBLES! my goodness I end up crying too!!

All in all I wish everyone will watch the drama, Drama is not always sweet and funny. because MY MISTER prove us wrong definitely drama can be dark, painful and realistic too.

She is acting wuit similar to the male star that impressed me also Lee Joon GI who played in Moon Lover (wieth IU) Two weeks, Iljimi and Time between dog and wolf. The silent person, who is loner, secretive and always alone.The two IU and Lee Joon Ki make a geat couple for a korean episode. It is too bad they can't get together for another great korean series. I very much enjoy her acting in this drama and will watch to the end, I just finished ep 10. a great drama. She is the only one that impressed me in this drama although the love of family is quite evident thoughout.

I'm so pleased with the actors in this show, great job from their portrayal of the characters- I'm truly impressed by IU; I've watched her in her previous dramas, for instance Scarlet Heart Ryeo which pulled my heartstrings; but after watching My Mister I have greater respect for her as an actress (and all-round artiste). Her acting is on point and nuanced with so many layers for a complex character in Ji An. I think she made a great choice selecting this role - this drama really didn't disappoint. And also Lee Sun Kyun who made a role of Dong Hoon so convincing and lovable (who wouldn't love a kind-hearted person like him?) I'm glad that this drama is receiving love from the audience as it really deserves it; I hope audiences won't be quick to judge a show, just like we should never judge a book by its cover. I understand the drama's ratings are considered pretty good although it is aired on cable tv. I hope the ratings can continue to climb higher as it really is a deserving watch. My Mister fighting!!

If the story will go this way, if lI Ji An (IU) will strive in her career even the CEO will fall apart to her, her looks become different. Her case as a murder will be aquitted. Love rivalry between CEO and Manager Park Dong. CEO has courage to court IU because he knew that MAnager Park Dong has forgiven his wife, but he doesn't know that MAnager Park has plan to divorce his wife. The intimacy of the CEO to the wife of MAnager Park will fade away because of the wife threatened the CEO to destroy him. Here rivalry again will exist because of love. same with changki but changki will be forgotten because he just want to take revenge with IU but i like also changki to be IU's partner. There is romantic excitement between Manager PArk and IU but still in the heart of Manager Park Dong would be his family but still the fornication done by his wife has been damaged their relationship. It's hard to conclude and guess what would be the next story. The two idiot brothers can find a way to make their lives successful. The one will turn back to his wife and the one will be partner to the actress.

Ratings for dramas from kbs, mbc etc could go as high as 40-50 bcos of the wider spectrum of people who watched. Ratings for cable-dramas are normally between 3-6. Ep10 this week had the highest rating for cable drama- above 6. That comes to show that this story is really really good.

What a story...heart rending & week by week it creeps deep into your heart... As i’ve written before...a story of sadness filled with goodness. The story, directing, acting, pace & plot is awesome...this is beyond the normal drama that we see. I’d dare say korea has done it again...TvN is amazing in producing this...what of an international std this drama is. Ep 9&10 are easily WoW. It is not only full of wisdom but it is WISDOM itself. Daebak. I hope many many more people will watch this....many many more to capture how beautiful the story is.

eline Apr 20 2018 4:51 am at first, i thought the casting is just soo wrong, i've seen lee sun kyun on another drama "my wife's having an affair" and definitely IU. both of them are no doubts really great actors and they sure will play your emotions. but seeing both of them as drama leads made me question their compatibility as their age gap is quite bit noticeable. ooooooH but their chemistry is just absolutely the best!

every week after watching an episode i just felt empty and can't wait for the next episode to come. that 10th episode was just epic, every single episode that they bring to viewers had amazing plot and characterization of each of the actors. i'm bored with those boring romance plots that usually writers put in kdramas, this is like a breath of fresh air when you've beem suffocated with sickening romantic plots. Such a recommended drama IMO.

I just died. Haha. Wow. Everything is just addictively satisfying, not to mention the other side stories of other character. Give them already the Daesang.

It will give u more in reality side of life. I will not say cruel but sad, the whole drama vibes is sad. It has sad sad characters in a sad sad situation on it. You will gonna root for them and i tell you, it won't matter the age difference but you'll gonna ship for them. You will wish for a happy ending for them. Hope IU will transform her image here not just an ordinary girl that repeatedly doing everyday, stalking of his manager and CEO. Here as what I observed the character of IU here is witty. I do not know what her family here comes from. If her family is came from rich clan. She became miserable just because of her murder case. The story goes long long way. Things that I thought would happen much later, are happening now, so I can't wait to see how things turn out by the end. I just hope the ending is amazing, and not a letdown.

sjbros87 Apr 12 2018 12:20 pm this drama should receive more rating. for me this drama is masterpiece. script n everything!! chemistry btw the two leads is amazing. all the other casts are amazing T_T all of them really successfully express n bring out the best of their characters. i can totally feel their feeling of sadness, happiness n hardship. dong hoon's mom :'( i love the fact tht the storyline n the script are not cliche. i didnt expect dong hoon would confront the ceo about his cheating wife. and to be honest, there was not a single dull moment so far. you have to watch it to know it! TOTALLY RECOMMENDED. p/s : love from malaysia ^^

I can even say one of thw best, probably among top 5 dramas of all time, and yes ive seen hundreds of them. And after 6 episodes IU finally smiled.

I watched the first 6 episode and I'm satisfied. Hope the next episode won't disappoint me because I anticipated this drama so much.

9/10 cause I not finish this drama yet. But clearly this is a good ass drama

I don’t mind a romance either lol I think what the story will show and teach us is that love is love and comes in many different ways of meanings and so far I can see a love happening btwn the two leads romantic or not, they will definitely have something of a much stronger bond. two lonely sad people finding happiness in each other...that’s really beautiful. I can’t wait to see when Ji An finally shows a real genuine smile and maybe/hopefully it will be Dong Hoon’s doing (or his brothers lol I want to see how they all interact with Ji An).

The romance is fine with me as long as they keep it sweet and pure,, nothing too bothering like a bed scene and deep kissing.. but I agree that the Love story is not the focus of this drama..

This is not a love story. Very stark landscape they have laid out, but so different from most Korean dramas. Lee Sun-Kyun is surrounded by a lot of carnivores. Great show.

It's great that IU chooses shows which portray characters with depth and life experiences that people might relate to. And as for the male leads, I don't have any qualms with her acting opposite older men, I think it's good that actors/actresses embrace diversity in their roles and partners, and the storyline requires such characters too, which makes it more endearing. I commend IU for her maturity in the perspective of dramas

Although the plot summary does not reveal many details about the characters and the main story of the drama, I think that instead of a typical romance drama this drama will focus on humanity, human relationships and the charm of people's connections. Something tells me that this is going to be a healing drama with stories that you can relate to. Nowadays there is so many dramas that are interesting but lack realism to them, so I hope 'My Ajusshi' will become a story that will be enjoyable and interesting, but at the same time be a relatable story through which you can feel and understand all the characters. The cast is just fantastic! As a Uaena, I believe that actress Lee Jieun will do great alongside with all the amazing sunbaenims.

In addition, in the drama Lee Ji-Ah will play the wife of Lee Sun-Kyun, so I don't think there will be a love live between this great actor and IU. If there is a love line, I'd rather want her to have one with Jang Ki-yong. They looked so great and romantic in Red Shoes and Friday MV. So looking forward to it!

But even if there is no romantic focus, I hope that we all will be able to enjoy the drama. I watched 'Signal' and 'Misaeng' by the director Kim Won-suk, and they were amazing even without all the complicated love stories. 21st March, please hurry! (P.S. Lee Sun Kyun is such a great actor and so is IU but she has a lot to still learn. This will be a great experience to add to her resume. I like them both and can't wait for this drama. Don't dislike something before you even see what it's all about. Get over it.

I don’t care how good of an actor he is - an 18 year age gap is an 18 YEAR GAP and that’s just creepy AF!! Korea’s obsession with younger girls and way older guys is just weird. I understand why she chose this project because of the director and the experienced casting, but I hope she chooses a better role for her next project. Yoo Seung-ho, Seo Kang-joon, & Park Bo-gum are all amazing actors all born the same year (1993) as IU...I would really love to see her paired up with Yoo Seung-ho!!

if u ever watching soeun family drama with kim ji han who hv son from his current wife.the wife divorce with him & soeun end happy married with him n pregnant with jihan child at the end story.so it may jian will like soeun character in this drama.its family drama..not focus only one couple..but whole family couple.

IU Fan Dec 14 2017 11:56 pm It's becoming an agenda where Korean drama are doing huge age gap on the drama. I feel sorry for IU even if she will earn a lot from this project. This is like her company Fave Entertainment is only interested giving her bad projects.

It's almost as if greedy directors wants to groom her to like older men which is why her ex is too old for her.

I hope IU gets more exposed to guys her age and not oldies. She needs to date regular guys not father guys who have wives.

It's not good for her as the leading man have a real wife and she is single. She is like getting exposed to like father guys.

As much as I love IU, I don't like this drama project.

I'm highly anticipating this drama. IU is a bit lacking in the acting department if you know what I mean (O_O), but I'm confident (err... hoping) that the brilliant director can bring out the hidden talent in her.

And these relationships do occur in real life, so people need to distinguish between what's real and what's not. This is a role that she probably feels will challenge her as an actress and she has every right to take the role. Let's see how she handles it and stop passing judgment. It will be interesting to see her pick up on and play out the dynamics of such a relationship.
