On Ma-Eum (Kim Se-Jeong) use to be a judo athlete. Her life revolved around the sport, but an injury ended her career in judo. She then got her first job in a webtoon editorial department. She has a hard time adjusting to her job as a webtoon editor and the people at her work. Through all the difficulties she faces, On Ma-Eum grows as a person and a webtoon editor.

I’m just an ordinary person, not from the webtoon industry, but through this drama I learned how the webtoon world works — the system, the lessons, and the work life inside it. It’s more about work life than love life, and I really like that!

Much appreciated to all the writers and the director — the story is inspiring and interesting, and all the actors did such a great job!

I hope there will be another drama like this, maybe next time about the IT industry, or the music/promoter world. So we can learn new insights again from different jobs. Thank you once again!

Kim Se Jeong is amazing! I know her since Business Proposal, and her acting here as On Ma Eum is so real, face, eyes, and gestures, all perfect! She reminds me of my first job in a telco company as an IT developer ^_^

The family scenes are so warm = good parenting, good vibes, and fun moments. I love her parents and brother!

The webtoon team is also great. Jong Man Cheol & Seok Ji Hyung = show good leadership, Kwon Young Bae = made me learn about office life, Ki Yoo Mi & Choi Du Hee = feel like real coworkers, and Goo Jun Yeong’s = love story in ep16 is perfect timing haha!

Baek Eo Jin & Na Gang Nam = surprised me, they’re so fresh here! Different acting than anothet drama before. Ji Han Seul & Sin Dae Lyug = are also great, funny and natural!

So many meaningful quotes in this drama , very relatable and motivating for real life. Good job & congrats to everyone in this team!

Park Min Feb 09 2024 9:41 am The whole drama felt like a short web series that was pushed too hard and stretched too thin to be molded into a 16-long-episodes chunk. There was a big tremendous missed opportunity to genuinely create something unique and special about exploring the Webtoon industry with all its intricacies and nuances but what we got was a bloated melodramatic superficial cheap one-dimensional cookie-cutter cut of a mix of poorly structured sappy stories themed around Webtoons. I though we might get something similar to Shirobako but it wasn't remotely close. The drama was grasping at straws to keep itself rolling. A few cases made some good valid points but the majority were bad and embarrassing to include. The drama gave the impression that every Webtoon creator in the industry is a problematic individual that needs constant tinder love and care to function as a human. This drama might be themed around Webtoons but I wouldn't label it as a drama about Webtoons. One thing in particular that became more problematic and annoying as the drama went on was the female lead, her revolting attitude and extreme overreaction with every single breath made her unbearable to even hear her voice. There was an attempt to give her backstory but that was handled with 2 poor scenes. On the other hand, the other main character Goo Joon Young had one singular facial expression that is a wide static smile. Even as a character his role was negligible. One question remained to be answered, why did they end the drama was a love confession?! Huh?

It’s not a “surface level” or shallow story. Kim Se Jeong nailed the role and I wonder if she would’ve done a better job if she played hong joo in destined w you. Her character is annoying bec she’s too cheery?? but can’t hate her she played her w such good energy

I feel like I’m at the same point in my life now too. I feel like I need to address the big elephant in the room, but I also know that once I do I’ll feel more lost than ever. I don’t know how to pick myself back up and move forward so I would’ve liked to see how the writers chose to handle that situation.

Taemi Apr 09 2023 5:32 pm I’m only 2 episodes in and I’m already crying. I feel like I’m a combination of Ma Eum and Jun Yeong. I’ve always wanted to be an illustrator ever since I was a kid. Like how judo was to Ma Eum, I thought drawing was going to be my life because there wasn’t anything else I loved more in the world. Unfortunately life had different plans for me and now I find myself unwilling to admit that deep down, I no longer want to pursue it even though I still love to draw. However unlike Ma Eum, I haven’t found anything I love as much as drawing and find that I struggling everyday to find my way in life. And I’m kind of envious of her and people like her. Which leads me to Jun Yeong. Like Jun Yeong, I also feel as though I’ve already done all I can so how can I work harder. I also have lots of badges of honor yet none of it seems to matter when I need it most. I’ve always felt like I’ve had to work twice as hard to get the same results and sometimes nothing at all, so while I don’t like Jun Yeong, I understand where he’s coming from.

Casual Nov 13 2022 6:31 am This drama is okay. Nothing too interesting. But can be inspiring and heartbreaking sometimes (I like that). Other than that, it's an average drama with no unique traits to it. The original one is more like short, straight to the point and light hearted. But of course k-drama has to somehow drag it too long.

The drama also has too much side plot that it's getting boring throughout the series. Choi Daniel's character also bland. Very disappointing character tbh. Only stay because of Sejeong. She carried the whole show. Also, really glad that Nam Yoon Su is getting a lot of story in this one. He got the best character arc for sure. 6/10 from me.

suckerspunch32 Oct 27 2022 6:23 am My heart crying for Ji Hyung. He's a silent spectator of Jun Yeong feeling toward Ma Eum and even supported him. All the while when he also have some feeling for Ma Eum. I love it whenever Daniel Choi characters have romance scene in every of his drama. He so good in expressing his emotion and line that even my heart flutter watching those scenes.

Besides that, I'm a bit of confused with Pomme's male assistant. It seems like he's not the culprit. But why he kinda a bit hostile towards Jun Yeong? It seems like he hate him and I'm still wondering what's the reason till now

I usually hate the idea of season 2, but this deserves a season 2.

Best office kdrama of 2022. I didn't like half episode of Business Proposal, but Kim Se Jeong shines in this drama, she should win an award for this

I like crime thriller drama however we need healing drama for getting light hearted and motivation in real life. I appreciate Sejeong for choosing this drama even though she already guess this is not everyone's cup of tea. The mentor Jang Man Chul and Seok Ji Hyung are true-to-be-true mentors. I would have fallen in love with Ji Hyung if I have a mentor like him, haha..

If they go for season 2, i hope Ji Hyung gets Ma Eum.. sorry Jun Yeong supporter :D

I like how their senior was very hands on and that is truly you can tell a "mentor" (which i dont experience yet in my current work.haha).

But as I watch, (is it only me) i think the storyline is getting slow? or (maybe because I just watched too many suspense dramas?) I've been in episode 13 now but as if there's no significant highlight yet.

Although, I've been fond of all the casts. all of them do their best in projecting their role. ❤️

Female_human Sep 07 2022 3:34 am christtt, Ha Do Kwon's acting here is so good that I have to remind myself over and over that I like him so much. It's quite rare that he plays an antagonist as annoying as Heo Gwan-Young hahaha.

Story-wise it's interesting although it's a bit draggy, some moments are too cringey such as Sin Dae-Lyug Feeb monster scene.

It's good enough, so far it's 6/10 for me. As someone who works in a webtoon company, the stories are somewhat relatable

peoplewhoreads Sep 06 2022 9:50 am i am now at eps 5, honestly this drama open my eyes in many ways, i am a reader, and i love webtoon. this drama shows many struggle abt creators life. Either by an editor, a pd or cartoonist, they all have their own struggle. as a reader i felt it opened my eyes in to not rush creators in making their episodes, since it may lead into fatigue. anyways it’s a bit slow pacing, but im enjoying it for now

If you are looking for a drama focused or of that has many love story scenes, this ain’t for you (though it’s starting to build-up around ep 11). However if you are looking for slice of life, real office struggles drama then give this drama a chance.

I can relate with every character - be it lead or supporting actors. How the story of each character unfolds is interesting.This drama is one of the best dramas i've watched by far..better than overrated kdramas. :)

lulu Aug 27 2022 7:09 pm After the success of Business Proposal this seems like a one-off side project for a rising superstar like Kim Sejeong. I think that it's great to see her flex and explore her range.

She has a luminous personality, and it permeates the work I've seen her in (so far, just these two shows). I think she has huge potential to turn into a very successful comedienne, the way I hoped for Hwang Jung Eum.

I like every episode, and the slice of life plots let me sink and absorb the lives of the story's various characters.

My only criticism, if one can call it that, is how the writers are withholding too much information about critical plots that could have been unfolded more clearly over every episode.

Who is the girl watching Jun Yeong in the background? Why are they withholding the work backstory about Seok Ji Hyeong?

And why did they build Ha Do Kwon's GM/COO (?) executive manager character role into such a villainous role, whose tonal execution is absolutely inconsistent with the rest of show?

I am waiting to find out why GJY's character looks so melancholy and sad, and perhaps, deep down, in seek of ****nge.

Thank you for creating a great show so far. I'm 9 episodes down and looking forward the second half.

I love Gu Junyeong's development and he's very charismatic, I really hope Maeum ends up with him because if I'm honest, Junyeong is very caring towards her, and he has a place for her in his heart because she made him break out of his petty pride which he keeps with himself for no reason. I swear to god, if Maeum ends up with that deputy editor, I'm going to throw hands, he looks old, they don't have a lot of chemistry and he even started getting jealous already? Like, toxic much? She isn't his property, heck, she isn't even dating him nor does she show any signs of liking him. I just hope she has a happy ending with Junyeong.

Mary T Aug 26 2022 1:36 pm Frankly, I am surprised at the negative comments and low ratings. I love the character development and the excellence of everyone in the cast. I expect to see some of these young actors in many more series. I find myself moved to tears in every episode. It is not a light and airy comedic series and perhaps that is what people were expecting. I just love so many of the characters including the two leads. I hope more people will give it a chance.

Tam Aug 26 2022 4:26 am This drama speaks to me. Every line they deliver has a pinch inside me. The drama has shown the diversity of an artist/creative life (or real life for that matter). I hope it goes well in the end, that PDs will have their hopeful endings.

I love how "Lee seongsaengnim AOS" role play his character as Princess Kumiho's creator. Also Pomme's PD annoying at first.

The drama has grown on me. And just like in episode 8, I hope this ends as a masterpiece. Gomawoyeo ?

Violet Aug 22 2022 8:40 am I personally think that this drama is not for mass viewers. If you haven't been through such situations, you won't be able to relate the situations and understand the underlying messages that they tried to potray in the drama. Hence most will find it boring. ?

But I love this drama. The reasons are:

1. It's such a comforting and healing drama.

2. The quotes used in each episode. There are so meaningful and true to heart. Like " There's no paradise that you could escape to." "Giving up this dream doesn't mean I fail in my life." (Omg I cried watching that part of the episode ?)

3. The supports from the team superior and family. I love how Maeum's mom gave her 100% unconditional supports to Maeum. This is such a wonderful sight to watch ❤ I love both her mom and dad. They are just so supportive.

4. The hardships that every webtoon artist is going through. It's not an easy career, so much sacrifices, pain and sweat in creating a webtoon. They deserves more recognitions.

5. Dare to dream and chase towards it. And also needs to have courage to face the reality. Episode 7 is such a heartfelt episode. Sometimes what you sacrifices wont necessarily what you would get at the end.

6. Bubbly and cheerful Maeum, a very charming and charismatic character. She would give out 110% of herself to support ppl. How I wish I have a friend/ colleague who would cheer me up and give me strength whole heartedly when I'm down.

I believe that Se Jeong has her own reasons in picking up this project. She has been through so much hardships since small and I'm sure that she is more likely wish to give strength to people. This is why I like her so much. Such a great actress. I love her characters and actings in this drama. It's so her.

However, I do hope to see more actings from other casts. A drama wont be good if it solely relying on Sejeong alone. It needs more chemistries between the casts members.

Hopefully my comment would reach out to more people out there and all the best to the members of this drama. Fighting!

I can watch one episode and forget what happened in it by the time i watch the next episode. it's a light drama in a sea of high tension dramas and Sejeong is always charming, but really, there's nothing much memorable enough to make you care about the story

Manda Aug 20 2022 8:42 pm I am losing patience with this drama. How did a top league cast and crew of past excellence end up with this dud? Starting with the horrible idea of adapting a very bland jdrama with the shallowest of storyline, to never ending preaching to the very obvious amateur writing, watching this weekly to support Kim Sejeong, Choi Daniel and Nan Yoonsu is getting incredibly tedious. The characters are so two dimensional with wayyyy too many Irritating characters, the storytelling is simply stuck in an early 2000s formula that no longer works in 2022. Everything about the drama is a BIG FAIL and why did the director of some of korean best like the magnificent I can hear your voice sign up for this? The story is already so boring in ep 8 yet the brilliant mind behind wanting this adaptation wants it stretched to 16?... at the current pacing, its gonna drop below 2% in ratings soon leaving a terrible blemish on the careers of all involved and becoming the drama that must not be named in the future interviews of these stars. Just do viewers and cast a favor and end it at 10 or 12 eps. This drama is even worse than Pieces of Your Mind and should just be scrapped early. P.s - the main actors really do not deserve to get cursed at for this failed show. They are only responsible up to the bad decision to sign up for it. It is depressing to see them work so hard at marketing the show and its non existent "exciting" elements. I am praying for them to quickly go into much better productions and erase this stinker soonest.

I don’t understand the poor rating and reviews I’ve seen because this show is not only such a pleasure to watch, but also delivers some great messages without hitting you over the head with them. Finding joy in whatever you do, toxic positivity, ageism, work/life balance… I want to give a big hug and thank you to the people who made this! Also, first time watching anything with Kim Se-Jeong and has absolutely made me a fan and made me go look up her idol work. As expected, her voice is… *chef’s kiss*.

I like that it lets characters grow and does make the seemingly bad ones one-dimensional. I also love how warm and loving Oh Ma-Eum´s family is, especially the mother and sister. So often the mother is a screamer and hitter. If you have been into intense heavy dramas recently and need a break or just like series with decent and positive people, this one is for you.
