Shin Young-Joo (Lee Bo-Young) is a female detective with charisma and Lee Dong-Joon is a righteous judge. They uncover corruption at the nation's biggest law firm Taebaek.

"Whisper" takes over the SBS Monday & Tuesday 22:00 time slot previously occupied by "Defendant" and will be replaced by "My Sassy Girl" on May 29, 2017.
Early working title was "Jinkyeok" ("Advance").
Lee Sang-Yoon and Lee Bo-Young previously starred together drama in 2012-2013 KBS2 drama series “Seo-Young, My Daughter.”
First script reading took place at 2 pm, January 24, 2017 at SBS Studio in Tanhyun, Ilsan, South Korea.
Filming for "Whisper" begins February 1, 2017.
Gosa ceremony took place March 5, 2017 at SBS Studio.
Ep. 14 was originally scheduled to air Tuesday, May 9, 2017, but due to broadcasting of the South Korean Presidential election, ep.14 will air Monday, May 15, 2017.

Both the leads have made far better dramas, Lee Bo Young in I Hear Your Voice and Lee Sang Yoon in Angel Eyes, but this story was interesting enough without a lot of typical cliches. The secondary leads gave excellent performances too. I also really enjoyed the OST. You can do far worse than this drama, but then again you can do much better. Try it, and see if it's your cuppa tea. It's not an innocent love story, however: if you prefer more storybook romances then look elsewhere.

Aisha Jun 01 2022 2:30 am in my point of view as someone who has watched 200+ dramas since 2003, this one isn't suitable/ too outdated to watch in 2022. The cliché plot and unrealistic love line aren't that enjoyable. Lee Bo Young did good but there are some parts that make me dislike her acting. Lee Sang Yoon is like that as well. It's enjoyable to see Lee Bo Young kicks people and being strong though, the only part I like about this drama

Mimsica Jul 03 2021 1:03 am Watching this drama was very exhausting. Nonstop betrayals, backstabbing and digging dirt on each other all the way till the end. If that's your thing, then power to you but man, the plot did not vary much for 18 episodes. Betray, backstab. Rinse and repeat. Acting by the cast members were pretty wooden, save for a few. The main leads had no chemistry and their acting were among the worst. The actors often deliver their lines with a pause for dramatic flair (cue the annoying opera music). So ridiculous. Also, they would get convenient phone calls during critical scenes to overturn whatever backdeal they were in at the moment. Poor plot writing at its finest. I would give this 3/10 tops.

Sally Feb 22 2021 9:06 am Great thriller drama. So good to see seasoned actors like Lee Bo Young and Lee Sang Yoon who really know how to act. The young ones in their 20’s are like robots in comparison. Fantastic plot to keep you guessing, well directed. Some older well known faces. LSY was wonderful in VIP as well, he’s very strong in such parts. Some actors from CLOY great too. The bad couple were very excellent too,

All in all well worth watching, I’ve added to my list of favourites. Quite a study on human nature at its worst, who can you trust? The higher up you go, the worse it gets.

Definitely on my top 5 series to watch. If you're looking for lovey dovey series, this isn't it, which I'm very fine with. KPF Dec 07 2017 4:39 am Fantastic plot with a lot of unexpected twists. Keeps one guessing what trump cards they have and how they get out of dilemmas so was not bored at all. Drama where lovers become enemies (KY & PSY) and enemies become lovers (LBY & LSY).

I do feel that PSY (supporting actress) had more air time than LBY (lead actress).

In episode 5, it's written Malaysia in the documents. Then in the package, the address is in Indonesia. It's true that Indonesia has thousands islands. However, Kota Kinabalu is clearly in Malaysia (and it's famous place tho, not unknown). FYI, Sabah is in Malaysia. Please do your research throughly. Don't think that viewer didn't pay attention to this.

What's good:

-Very fast paced. In every episode the storyline moves very fast. New secrets are revealed and tables turn. -Depicts corruption caused by power and money quite well. Shows the fallibility of human beings.

Not-so-great -The twists are many a times unrealistic. People often get phone calls at critical moments that allows them to make different decisions, thereby changing the direction of the plot. -The bargaining power of different secrets is somewhat unrealistic. -In the end, the drama becomes a drag with irrelevant elements of romance.

Overall, the drama keeps you hooked but could have been more interesting if it was limited to around 10 episodes.

Jay Jun 02 2017 8:21 am One of the most well-written drama's I've ever seen. Definitely one of my favorite Korean dramas to date. I binged watched in two days and it's not a decision I regret. It's amazing how everything kept coming full circle. I never once felt bored. It was turn after turn that amazed me.

It's romance, while light, is weirdly wholesome and cheesy but cute. LBY and LSY have an understated and subtle chemistry yet it's palpable. I just, I wish I watched it as aired, because it was truly something. Give them all the awards, lol.

So much plots going on and it just made me want to watch more to find out who is the ultimate winner. I finished all 17 episodes in just 3 days!! Love it!! Looking forward to LSY's next project! ^^

I don't know why they say it's slow, but I don't think so...it's just taking them too long to make villains fall...but this drama is really amazing...it focuses on power and money, so not really about romance (but I am so happy that something's growing between Dong Joon and Young Joo).

Whisper keeps showing how money & power manipulate things, how these can be played together...so many twist...really amazing....

And also for the people who keep asking for romance, please remember that romance is not the main focus here. The focus has always been about finding out the truth and going after all those who are corrupt. I like romance too, but the romance between lee sang yoon and lee bo young seem appropriate for the situation. They aren't going to be lovely dovey while going through all this, instead, for the mean time, they just kind of comfort each other on the way.

Producer, please be more realistic in your approach. Write better storyline.

I enjoy Korean drama e,g, all about eve, goblin, suspicious housekeeper, descendant of sun, Chief Kim, Brain etc. Short, simple and funny. They are fabulous and always very eager.

Prosecutor n Police woman comes out TOPS!! Love the drama so much, but would like very much to see emotional love from Prosecutir n Police Woman. Without the 'Love' the show loses its Gilt!!! Cmon... Writer n Producer.. add some romance instead of everyone being 'Tin Soliders'... thank you so much for a suspenseful drama in 2017!

However there're a few things I don't really understand. Like, why the girl never copy the evidences? The others are way better in the game, the girl doesn't seem to be sly enough. (btw I hope the actress is well, because sometimes her sick dad looks healthier than her, she looks way too pale) Also, when the Judge got fired from the judiciary, I don't think in Korea there are no rules for this kind of conflict of interest. And, isn't there a state officer who has the power of pardon, exactly for cases like the father's? The president or someone?

I cannot decide these have done on purpose, or just accidentally for make more complications. Anyway, it's great. :)

I still recall the two of them in My Daughter So Young (KBS) and still adore its drama.. After watching My Daughter So Young, I thought they're perfect couple, and It's funny somehow I hoped their love would be happened in real life BUT after I heard LBY dating Ji Sung, I buried my hope and glad, so very glad when they're tied the knot. Now, they're having great time taking care of their baby...

May the Whisper drama is on the peak rating. I really like and enjoy their acting.. Also the senior actors such as Kim Gap Soo..

I don't know if the romance tag in this drama will apply to our main leads but I'm looking forward to it so please make it happen writer nim because I'm worried that there will be nothing til the end... since the drama is too dark and too complicated for our main leads to even feel that kind of attraction.

Although a fan of Lee Sang Yoon, I am not a fan, actually, I am an anti-fan of needless, and often gratuitous crimes against the innocent, and so, so tired of old, and over used themes that are 'formula' predictable. Besides, Nobody wins over the chaebol...nobody. Especially me if I chose to watch. But thanks to the honest & concise opinions expressed here, I am choosing not to watch stupidity. I have enough of that in real life! And like Zorg, it's hard to abide stupid scripts... I would like nothing better than for a writer to surprise me. Do a story on the cloning of the Woolly Mammoth! Anything would be better than 'been-there-done-that-a-thousand-times'!... no thanks.

whisper Apr 06 2017 8:41 pm The power play in this drama are so awesome. I am enjoying it so much. Plus, their dialogue are so wonderful. Full of double meaning. Ep 3 and 4 were so great that it hooked me straight away. Hoping that this drama could be more awesome in the future episodes.

I killed watching it after the complete idiotic maneuver of the cop handing over all of the evidence that would save her father to a judge she "hoped" wouldn't be corrupt. It really was a deal killer. I didn't watch the end of ep. 1. Against my better judgement, I went back and watched the beginning of ep. 2, hoping there would be something that would redeem it. The judge, although not as moronic as I thought, was still an idiot to get completely slammed drunk, after being blackmailed for doing stupid things, even though that was ended due to his impending marriage, and having that woman cop floating around that he threw under the bus. He might have considered staying partially sober to cover his ass. Either way it doesn't change the ridiculous move that she made with the evidence. This is the kind of crap that pops up at ep. 15, after you are already invested and have to make a harder decision to walk away. These clowns did it in ep. 1. They should have more sense. I guess lazy won, over common sense. They could have easily reached the same outcome with out making us accept absolute unmitigated stupidity.

You can add the minor/major stupidity, depending on how you look at it, of him throwing around his weight for his mom, when he knew they were looking for anything to blackmail him with. Clearly he had absolutely no sense of the situation he was in. Remember, he is supposed to be squeaky clean, extremely competent and honest. He knew he had a legion of enemies that wanted to destroy him.

I'm still done. I can see the writing on the wall. This drama is going to be full of this kind of crap and I won't sit through it.

Considering this drama has similar tone with Innocent Defendant and aired in the same slot, people might have high expectation. This might feel a little slow and cliche compared to Defendant.

But hey, you'll never be able to satisfy everybody.

I found this drama is quite promising. I definitely will keep on watching it with an open mind.

She gets her dads phone and doesn't copy the crucial evidence to present or even keep, but gives the phone with the only copy to a judge that she "hopes" won't be corrupt. Yeah... sure... that is totally believable. No wait... not a chance. No one is that stupid. A 12 year old child would have copied it and presented the copy keeping the original on the phone in a safe place.

Then, the judge, who just got blackmailed for helping his mother by stopping a minor investigation, goes to bed with the daughter of the man he just threw under the bus? This is a judge that got his position on his own merit, not through connections, so we have to assume he is smart. Well, apparently not very smart. Again, no one is that stupid. This all happened before the first minute of episode 2.

I'm all for having the willful suspension of disbelief, but give me a break.

Can anyone say contrived? No more for me.

That sounds really funny. On the contrary, he knows pefektně express the emotional side portrayed the character as it does well in this drama. It would be interesting if the role of the drama "defendant" and "Whisper" exchanged among themselves Ji Sung (now husband Lee Bo-Young) and Lee Sang-Yoon .... :) but it would probably not be the same if husband and wife of played common pair in the film, or was it? :). I do not know. Anyway, on the drama is very I looking forward, especially just for the cast. The story so far also looks very promising . I cross my fingers that it as well so continue. JM Mar 28 2017 2:52 pm Lee Boyoung is a great actress and she's so pretty, I just watched the first episode and she's amazing, one of my favorites! Lee Sangyoon's character is refreshing, finally someone up there who actually cares about justice! The nice surprise though was Lee Hyunjin I couldn't really see his face for the first cut he was in but I recognized his voice cause he has a certain way of talking too and BAM! It was him T^T I was so happy, he's underrated, but still one of my favorite actors and hopefully he can get some spotlight this time
