Set in the Joseon Dynasty period, a romance takes place between cold-hearted Gyun-Woo (Joo Won) and Princess Hyemyung who causes troubles.

Notes

"My Sassy Girl" takes over the SBS Monday & Tuesday 22:00 time slot previously occupied by "Whisper" and will be replaced by "Falsify" on July 24, 2017.
Based on the 2001 movie "My Sassy Girl," but set in a historical time period.
Filming began August, 2016 and finished March 7, 2017.
"My Sassy Girl" is the last acting performance by Joo Won before his mandatory enlistment in the South Korean military. His enlistment begins May 16, 2017 and he will be released February 15, 2019.
10 finalists for the lead actress role were announced on May 31, 2016 and a final voting round will take place to select the actress.
Kim Joo-Hyun was selected to play the lead female character through auditions, but she will no longer play the character.

Whats the use of being a king if its the enemy obviously doing wrong something and doesn't move, the evidence are already clear. Super obvious, next time make it difficult to predict, and give more power to the king. Last make it realistically in real life, either old or new.

Stella Mar 14 2022 9:58 am Discovered this on Netflix already.. just done watching Joo Won maxe me fell in love too with his character. The princess character was cute.. I can say they're Perfect match together on this romantic comedy drama. The things I liked most here Joo Won made me satisfied with his acting I really felt seriously and genuinely in love to the princess..for the first time of been watching k dramas only Joo Won made me satisfied with his role of a man that really in love..I love his teary eyes and his facial expressions of hurting.I wish they have more cute moments together..I know that should be enough but I want more..and I wish this drama is long up to episode 20..

PrincessLover Mar 10 2022 4:56 pm I have to say the cast is the most impressive thing here. Story is fine, kinda boring since I can guess all the details from the beginning. I feel kinda sad to see such a clown king everytime. If you watch Vincenzo before this drama, you will see Kim Yoon Hye so different! I would say she steals all spotlight scene in Vincenzo. And so in this drama, she is really a fair opponent with Oh Yeon Seo. I was so confused between the 2 of them. They all act so good and so pretty. Oh Yeon Seo remind me a lots of Han Ye Seul. Both are so versatile at serious and funny scene in the exact same way. Also, 1 of the 2 mistress of Choon Poong is so stunning!!! I wish I know who she is, the one with big round eyes and mischievous look.. Gosh, this drama is just full of angels!!

KST Feb 04 2022 11:58 pm I just finished watching this series yesterday. Wow it was really amazing.The story is really nice. I like to the chemistry between the main leads. This is my first time watching a drama of Joo won and I think he is a good actor. I hope to watch his other dramas also.All the actors have acted very excellent. Specially the two main leads Oh yeon seo and Joo won's acting is superb .Oh yeon soo is lovely and funny as always. Anyway I hope this drama would be more interesting if the drama has more comedy as it was at the beginning .But anyhow this is really a good drama and this won't waste your time. I recommend this drama too all kdramas not only to the historical drama fans but also to the ones who like romcoms. Saranghae!!!

I loved my sassy girl 2017.it is my 2nd favourite after the Kings affection. I have googled my sassy girl 2017 with my travelling in mind. I would love to visit the mountain shrine where the deposed Queen An is found. Also the waterfall.. Can anyone provide me with these locations so as I can judge the viability of visiting

Ritzcrackers Nov 11 2021 9:38 pm Okay it’s 32 episodes of 30 minutes. So it’s a typical Korean dramas with 16 1 hour episodes. That’s way Netflix has only 16 episodes. I understand now why they always replayed a lot of the previous scenes in next episode. I’m on episode 9 and was thinking I don’t know if I can make it to 32, only cause I hate when they drag it on when not necessary. Anyway I’m on episode 9 and loving it.

Oh Yeon Seo's facial expressions and character portrayal of sassy Princess Hyemyung are priceless.. She is an excellent actress.. Praises also for the director who put it all together.. Many excellent scenes.. Great story and a unique happy ending.. Hope to see these more stories like this one..

I’m currently watching Hi Bye Mama but as its still not finished, I was looking for something else (and different, like no crying ?) to watch. Nothing new from other historical dramas but I love the way the relationship between our main leads developed. The way they fell in love is actually believable rather than falling in love just because its time for the script to move forward.

Great acting by the villains to although there’s nothing unique qith the scheming and taking down the other, the villains here were ones to be reckoned with.

Basically you already know what’s going to be on the other side of the bridge but the crossing part was interesting.

I particularly liked Joo Won’s character here. He and the princess together grew on me and I love how they ended the drama.

Real Drama Please Jun 09 2019 5:00 pm Trite and tiresome! The princess is sassy for a few episodes in the beginning and sassy again in the final episode. The bulk of this comedy in the middle episodes is the same old power grab, palace politicking with the ever-present evil prime minister and scheming evil queen eyeing the throne. Uh, haven't we seen this before?! So many historical dramas seem to have this power-grab storyline that one of my American friend who frequently watches Kdramas facetiously asked me once whether the Korean scriptwriters have a vending machine where they can buy a template script. Replace palace with a company, king with a CEO, evil prime minister with an evil executive, and so on then, you have a run-of-the-mill modern-day drama. Getting back to this not so Sassy Girl, the cinematography and custumes were excellent if not historically accurate. The leading actors were all good looking folks but this is nothing new as are just about all other elements of this has-been and seen-before mini-series.

And their hate felt so real and i think thats what made their transition into love feel real.as well. The king didnt do mucj to protect his child though and the villian had too much power bit otherwise i loved it.

I just really have a strong dislike towards the king and the queen dowager, not as an actor or actress, but to their characters. They have no “balls” or courage. They just keep on worrying and worrying thoughout the drama but they don’t do anything. His character is too coward for a king, and the queen dowager has good intentions but lack action and believes everything easily. Even the eunch is more courageous than them. They keep on getting on my nerves whenever they worry about something but just sat there and do nothing. Anyways, I still love this drama and would recommend it 10/10!

His father also in Good Doctor as someone who hates him so much. His mother as his mentor in 7thGrade Civil Servant. So funny he is getting along with everyone and Oh Yeon Seo is so funny. I love this drama. 3rd times watching this and never bores me

They have really a chemistry.. i am so happy with acting with choi ro-woon he definitely cute boy.. Even the story is predictable i can say is it good korean drama... In first place I think over and over again if i watch it because of the synopsis is not very deep and some comments says not good feedback about this...I can say it is good drama.

I guess a lot of people thought it would be purely rom com bec of My Sassy Girl was a Rom Com. I watched it without expectation and not thinking of the original movie and it seems enjoyable. I felt the political drama was appropriate or let just say it was a fine addition in my opinion. Ive never watched any historical drama without such.

The first half of the episodes were so funny and entertaining but as the story goes on, its title or the whole point of the plot wasn't being consistent. Yeon Seo's character was getting boring and didn't do much. Also the plot was very predictable.

I expected more oh yeon seo funny moment or jw and ohs unny momemnt. Sassy girl is all about crazy,drunk women but i didnt understand why this drama full of politic... But i continue watch this drama because ohs..she amazing actress and so funny.. jo won too.. cast no problem but story has little problem

The palace intrigue as sub plot felt exhausting and I don't really care at all. How I wish the main couple will be the only plot and the rom-com was the core tone (like Boku, Unmei... anyone watch it?) then the drama would be so much more fun

The first few episodes were a bit too much to describe the princess' behaviour but as I watched on, it became clearer why the princess was too much. I hope the ending would be as I hope to be. I'm a bit sad because it's going to end but I hope the best to the casting team.

drama Jul 10 2017 6:23 am I was looking foward for this to air since both my bias are there. From the beggining, the replaced queen acting is not on par and still. Oh yeon soo couldn't pull the crude acts good enough in first 2 eps and I am glad those acts were stopped. Then it is so evident she won't end up with Chinese prince so no, it was not at all heart tearing to see jo won sad faced. The final blow is airing of Queen of 7 days which has audience more emotionally invested. Naturally it gets compared since both r historical and this is light drama. It's just u fortunate that both leads chose this project. Only da Yun and her father are keeping this project in place. Hope something good happens here.

Joo Won, My personal person, Gyun Woo was good, like so good. Da-Yeon is a bomb, she act the role perfectly, if not that she was ... Omo! the kiss from from Gyun Woo to the Princess, Nice movie, enjoyed it.

The only reason the princess waited Min sabu is to find out her mom's whereabout. Well, that is what I get tho and I'm pretty sure since the princess weren't really into the sadness of Min sabu's death and that she has feelings for Gyun Woo. But anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong ???

The chemistry between lead actors (Jo Woon & Oh Yeon Seo) is SUPERB!!! They're both super good looking n cute <3

And the OST, omg all 4 soundtracks are so sooo goodd and really fit the drama! Kyaaaaa My Sassy Girl (SBS) fighting!!!

hopefully joo won will choose better plot next time. no plot at all, just a princess looking for her mother. very slow pace, weird and un-natural dialogue and acts, predictable, so on.

Everyone is doing a great job here and the pacing of the story is just. Even the villains are doing great to the point that I am clenching my teeth due to anger.Great great!

So, I did a bit of digging, and the research showed that the Joseon era span from 1392-1897, this means the existence of a clock can be expected . A water-powered cogwheel clock was created in China in AD 725. Spring-driven clocks appeared during the 15th century etc; this showed that the civilization started utilizing clock as part of their life....Unfortunately, the writer failed to provide us with an evidence of ancient clock being utilised during those periods, which make the script look silly (when precise time was mentioned in the form of messages) especially to those who didn't know about these facts...

That's how a sassy girl supposed to be. Too sad for Lee jung shin, he appeared for a while only in 2 episodes. I hope it will get better rating as the story is getting more interesting.

The nasty, vulgar, mean drunk, who is supposed to be the "sassy" girl love interest of the refined, pompous young noble, is liking loving a little baby rat. This nonsense was juxtaposed with some very good fighting scenes and palace intrique in the first episode. But to see more of that, you have to wade through the vomit yuck and belches.

Many people complained about the waste of budget to a weird remake of an old classic. I personally like the inclusion of modern elements to the settings but it seems a lot of Koreans hated it lol. Also I see a lot of comments about how people couldn't focus on the story while watching it. I do admit that the screenplay from before to after we see Joo Won's character is definitely not the smoothest.

But I stand by my opinion on Oh Yeon-seo's acting so far though. The drama alone is already problematic even without her exaggerations.

I have to disagree on the age part though. Kim Soo-hyun and Ji Chang-wook are both 29 (which is the same age as both Joo Won and Oh Yeon-seo) and I'm pretty sure many people wouldn't have any problem with them acting in a comedy drama.

The writing and directing has just been a little "off" in my opinion. Can't blame the actors and actresses as they can only perform the material they are given. Hope it gets better as the series continues.

One thing I hope doesn't hurt this show is both leads are 30 years old and look a little awkward doing slapstick comedy parts. Feels like this would be better suited to a younger pair.

But it doesn't deny the fact that Oh Yeon-seo's acting in the first 4 episodes isn't good enough to pass negative criticisms. For example, take a look at the scene when she's getting angry & kicking the cheating couple out of the motel. It's so awkward and unnatural. Opening her eyes wide (too wide imo) open only makes it worse. You could easily tell that she's exaggerating.

Exaggeration can be funny though. Like when you're doing impersonations, you should exaggerate. Or when it's too bizarre, you couldn't help but laugh.

Maybe it could work if her character is steadily acting overly & awkwardly sassy til the end. But I don't think the female lead role in this story is suitable for that kind of exaggeration though. It's not that kind of cartoony/anime-ish romcom story.

Or maybe it's their approach, to make her like an anime character. I dunno lol, it's too early to tell.

There's thing called tunnel vision on psychology which you only see what you want to see,ignoring if not avoiding the possibility to notice whatever lies outside their limited sight. For me,people who hate on the girl uses this tunnel vision. Even before actually watching drama you have a set goal in mind on what to believe in. It may be because you liked Jun ji hyun's character more that you disagree that no one can surpass her or you may have been influenced by other people who already hate her because of some other things like her bad rumors or her poor acting in the past but let me tell you this. No one can have the same comedic skills like Jun ji hyun but it doesnt mean Oh yeon seo cant have any talent also. Infact,if everyone saw Come back mister without any hate or opinion before actually watching it,you will be able to see her comedic skills. The girl has talent. She's a great actress. Second,nobody started as an amazing actress. Jun ji hyun didnt even act well during her early movies if you just watch it. Just because you saw My Sassy girl doesnt mean Jun ji hyun was already that good,if you're really a fan of her then you should watch every project she did and you can see she really started from the bottom just like Oh Yeon seo. People might doubt her acting and comedic skills because they might have saw her earlier projects when she was just starting out and acting very poorly. But if you see her recent dramas like Shine or go crazy and come back mister you can see she has improved alot amd she deserves to have the sassy girl role. Do not compare her with jun ji hyun even though they act the same role because they have very different ways of acting.

Now,now you might say Im a fan of her. Yes,i admire her acting skills but my admiration as a kdrama fan is not as deep as what i have for kim so hyun who is another wonderful actress. Yes,i read the comments before i watched it and yes i did have some doubts that it would be bad like what you said but i erased everything i thought and watched the whole thing with fairness and the result was I was always laughing the entire two episodes..

Just because you use the tunnel vision you dont have the right to force people also to see what you want to see. Let them judge the drama fairly and not influence them. They should have an opinion of their own and not feed them with it especially the bad things you dont like about the actress..

The actress didnt act poorly. She had comedic skills,thats no doubts. But erased all what i have said and watch the drama with fairness and you can write your opinion here.

Reminder before watching: Do not have any opinion on the drama and the actors. Do not be biased on any actor Watch fairly until the end.

For these dramas, he won accolades. For this first episode, i sincerely do not like the female lead and the story is kinda boring. Its interesting in the beginning, but its downhill beyond that. I will give a try because of the background history and for Joo Won.

I'm not gonna miss this even though I have an on-going thesis because my Oppa will enlist after this drama ends..huhu.. Oh Yeon Seo can pull some hilarious stints as what I had observed in Come Back Mister. She was the character i really wanted to have a happy ending though she played a man trapped in a woman's body, she portrayed an amazing character that brought me to tears especially during her last scene in CBM..

I first notice Joo Won Oppa in Baker King, Kim Tak Goo and yes i despised and pitied him at the same time. Portraying the complex role of a younger ambitious jealous brother was a topnotch for him, he really put figuratively the best actor in his acting chops.. From then on, I followed him from Gaksital to Yong Pal. He is known to fall inlove with his co-stars because he takes his roles seriously, really seriouslly..

This will be an amazing drama to watch out for.. Not a scene is boring, you'll be laughing and maybe some crying also for the entire episodes of the drama.
