Showa Fujishima (Koji Yakusho) is a former detective. One day, his daughter Kanako (Nana Komatsu), who is a model student, disappears. To find his daughter, he investigates more carefully into his daughter's life. He then becomes involved in a shocking situation.

Gimmechoco44 Sep 06 2023 1:51 am Grrreat movie. It is one-of-a-kind. Nana and the schoolgirls are super slim sexpots, but also there is incredible brutality. In short, this movie is beauty and the beast. Love these thin babes no matter the misdeed. Second best after Cold Fish

and if Apr 02 2021 11:28 am have known this movie since 2015 (find it in Nana komatsu asianwiki) but never watch it, i though it's gonna have heartwarming vibe. Now (2021), just watched it. it was fun journey, but i think i won't re-watch it again anymore. just found out, the literal meaning of the title is Thirst. I should've known that.

Konseki Oct 12 2019 2:41 am I don't really understand why some people find this movie messy and confusing because it's a very clear demonstration of how children grown into such a trashy evil. Just look at they trashy parents and teachers who dosen't care. There is no character to sympathize at all yet a feel like I can understand all these kids and why they became so empty inside. No, empty is a wrong word. At least full of pain and trying to anesthetize it using their own ways.

Angela May 04 2018 9:55 pm The premise was good but the overall, the movie was just...messy. Lots of unecessary gore ffs. Everyone is beating up everybody. I love Nana and liked Joe so I decided to watch this but I felt cheated. The movie is very predictable with no substance. Felt so frustrated the last 30 mns so I was impatiently watching just to know how it ends.

4/10.

Shuya May 25 2017 1:59 am I grew up in America (half japanese) and this movie I can literally relate to the drug scenes from my teenage years. This is how reality is but I was shocked to see that even this happens in Japan. Overall really great movie and it was not confusing to me. This is reality on point.

donsan Aug 19 2016 1:28 pm This is a mirror to reality folks. Not a fairytale. This was not made to bring hope to humanity, it is actually reflecting our current nature. If you are expecting some uplifting reflections or realization at the end after watching, well you're in the wrong corner of genre.

VoodooDoll Aug 15 2015 12:19 am For a lot of the people who are complaining about this movie have no idea what its actually about. The director did an amazing job with the storyline because it actually portrayed the raw evil in humankind. It wasn't supposed to be a touching movie with an emotional reunion because this movie is supposed to stress about the disgusting creatures in society. The gore was a bit too much, but it emphasized a lot of certain characters. Plus, the actors did an amazing job acting out such creepy, negative emotions (MATSUNAGA) The characters were also amazing. None of them were likeable in the least and that's what was so brilliant about this movie: Everyone has serious flaws that they cover. In Kanako's case: she's a raging sociopath. In conclusion, don't watch this film if you aren't someone who wants a happy ending because it is supposed to portray some realism (to an extent)

sajoya May 03 2015 1:26 am All the actors did their job. They were amazing, but the story was...bleh. It started off strong and kept you interested, but as mayhem broke loose at every corner, I started to become impatient with the story. The constant drama actually got me bored to where it felt like an eternity before we'll ever learn about Kanako's whereabouts, like I looked forward to seeing the end credits more than Kanako's reunion with her father. As for the violence, it was just too much to the point where I actually don't even cringe anymore when it happens. All the characters were hopeless, like there's not even one character that's likable. If anything, all the characters were plain ridiculous. Some of the dialogues for these characters made me frustrated. It's the kind where they beat around the bush instead of saying it out and clearly. Like I literally got confuse at some parts and had a hard time differentiating on what was real or imaginary. The constant switching between past and present starts to get out of control. Even after this movie, I was left with more questions than answers. I think what really made me disappointed with this movie is the lack of explanation and closure for some of the issues and characters (*coughs* the cops *coughs*). Then again, my disappointment may be due to the high expectations I had because of Tetsuya's other works (Confessions, Memories of Matsuko, and Kamikaze Girls). With the genre of this movie being Tetsuya's style, I thought he was going to deliver, but I was wrong. 6/10 for the story, but the real highlight of this movie is the editing and acting.

yamakita Apr 12 2015 9:43 pm I should've guessed this was done by the same director who did Confessions, but I think this movie was a lot less meaningful than Confessions. Gratuitous violence and whatnot to provide shock values that lose steam midway. There is not one redeeming character in the movie. I think there have been enough stories made about the seedy underworld of Japan, which makes this movie a bit pointless and full of exploitation.
