"The Taste of Money" deals with the world of the wealthiest of "Chaebul" families and their desires, love, hatred, sex and murder ...

Young-Jak (Kim Kang-Woo) has worked for CEO Yoon (Baek Yoon-Sik) for the past 10 years. He graduated from a prestigious university, but beckons at the call of CEO Yoon everyday.

CEO Yoon is married to Baek Geum-Ok (Youn Yuh-Jung), the daughter of the wealthiest man in Korea. They have a daughter Na-Mi (Kim Hyo-Jin) and a son Cheol (On Joo-Wan). Due to their extreme wealth, the family wields virtually unlimited power in Korea. Their daughter Na-Mi is the only person that disagrees with her family's actions.

Meanwhile, CEO Yoon did not marry Geum-Ok because of love, but rather because of her wealth. For virtually his entire life he has worked for Geum-Ok and her father. Throughout this time, CEO Yoon has felt humiliated. Now, CEO Yoon wants to leave Geum-Ok and her family. Yoon is in love with their Filipino housemaid Eva (Maui Taylor) and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Geum-Ok has no doubt that she will have her husband back.

After CEO Yoon leaves, Young-Jak takes over his role in the family. He too soon becomes addicted to the taste of money ...

Notes

Filming began on October 26, 2011 and finished on January 22, 2012. Shooting took place in South Korea and the Philippines.
Connections between Im Sang-Soo's prior film "The Housemaid" and "The Taste of Money".
1. Actress Yoon Yeo-Jung appears in both films, but plays head housemaid in "The Housemaid" and the mother in "The Taste of Money."
2. Kim Hyo-Jin plays Na-Mi in "The Taste of Money," which is the same name of the young daughter Na-Mi played by Ahn Seo-Hyun in "The Housemaid".
3. Actress Hwang Jung-Min appears in both films. She plays Eun-Yi's (the housemaid) friend in "The Housemaid" and the personal assistant to the wheelchair bound grandfather in "The Taste of Money".
4. References to the "The Housemaid" in the "The Taste of Money."
  1. Kim Hyo-Jin as Na-Mi tells her mother "... remember the maid that burned herself mother? We shouldn't treat people like that."

Even though this is not much of a spoiler, my question is, what the heck happened in the end of the movie when Eva opened her eyes inside the coffin, she looked to the side and opened her mouth as if she was going to scream, but it was silent. Can anyone explain what was that all about? Was the director just trying to be funny? and did that randomly out of the blue? Or did it actually mean something? I'm just puzzled is all.

Just one more thing I will mention... I would never sleep with someone who slept with one of my parents. I mean, I am not a girl, so maybe the thought process is different, but even if I was in Na-Mi's shoes I wouldn't do it. How can she let a man go inside of her when he had been inside her mother as well? Ugh! Ewww.. Good thing this is a movie.

jaein Apr 18 2013 2:36 am When Nami said to her mother: do you remember my nanny who killed herself when i was a kid? She burned herself. That’s it it came back rushing to my mind. Nami is the kid in HOUSEMAID, the kid who love her Nanny so much. This really look like HOUSEMAID because this is the continuation of HOUSEMAID. Byeong Sik (Yoon Yeo Jung) is the head housemaid but here in TASTE OF MONEY she is the older version of the bitch Hae-Ra. Hae-Ra husband didn’t change a bit. He’s still a fool when it comes to girls. Nami is very kind when she’s young, even the older version is kind too, that thus ring a bell which I can’t I understand at first. Well all in all, the actors and actresses are great, so surprise to see MAUI TAYLOR (our local sexy actress). The additional cast I mean KIM KANG WOO is great he was like a House Boy here, he take the position of JEON DO YOUN as a Housemaid. FIGHTING KOREAN MOVIES!!!! FIGHTING HANGOOK.

Amber Jul 28 2012 11:29 am Like Kim Hyo Jin in this movie.She's like fresh,balanced and the only one in the family who is in right mind.She shows a lit naughty side which is kinda cute and the only thing I like her from her character in Marry me,Mary.Kim Kang Woo is free minded,self-conscious and they played a perfect fit for each.But Kim Hyo Jin rocks.She's so cold even when she knows her boyfriend ***** *** ******.She even sides with him after that.The best part is on the plane when she told him she knows it wasn't his fault and the one who should be ashamed of is she who has a mother like this and when she chases he grandpa's P.A threatening Kim Kang Woo. I also watched housemaid(remake) which is so dumb.No chemistry between leads and Jeon Do Yeon has no chemistry with Lee Jung Jae.Seo Woo is stiff.Jeon Do Yeon is the worst.Did they think they can promote a movie like a standard version of porn?I regretted my time watchin.I hated Jeon Do Yeon in this.How can she go to Cannes with Housemaid? I think this movie is a whole lot better.Recommend y'all.The teasings between Kim Hyo Jin and Kim Kang Woo is enough for u to watch.

But I don't think YOon Yeo-Jung doesn't fit for this type of character.... perhap's because I've never seen her in another type of character, I'm not biased or something. She does it well imo. lol now I understand why Hancinema insited for ppl to put their birthday to be able to watch the new teaser.

TOK Mar 30 2012 1:59 am The Housemaid Remake wasn't that good, esp, the unfair ending..it was too sudden!...but i hope this one is better, as its directed by the same Director, but i feel that Yoon Yeo-Jung doesn't suit in this type of serious movie because her voice isn't that deep or serious...
