Ahn Eun-Youngg (Jung Yu-Mi) is a new nurse teacher at school. She has a special ability to see jelly like monsters that are made from residue of human desire and she can also eradicate these jellies. She uses a toy knife and a BB gun to take out the jellies. She senses that a mysterious event takes place at her school

Hong In-Pyo (Nam Joo-Hyuk) is a Chinese language teacher at the same school. Hong In-Pyo has a special energy. In order to protect the students, Ahn Eun-Young and Hong In-Pyo work together to eradicate these jellies.

The English subtitles for some scenes are completely wrong to the point where the character hasn't said anything close to what the subtitles said they did. I feel like this takes the weight away from some of the meaningful conversations - like the conversation in the nurse's office with Baek Hye-min. I really wish the translators put more effort into the translations because the international viewers are definitely not getting the same experience watching this.

I loved that it was weird, you don’t have to understand it really. It’s just fun. (and joo hyuk is very handsome as always, it’s healing to look at him haha…)

I wouldve loved if they explored the students relationships, eunyoung and inpyo relationship and mackenzie but welp too late now

jaime Jul 07 2021 1:53 am this was a wacky drama that I was charmed by. I came into this not knowing anything about the novel it is based on but the mystery of the first couple episodes had me hooked. all the threads are there, confusing! but they come together in the end.

I think culturally there was a disconnect with western audiences. I know this was created in mind for korean fans of the book but some of the spiritual concepts that are probably well known in SK went over my head.

I wonder if anyone did a video explaining the folklore? I gotta research.

There are 6 episodes so you won't lose much time if you decide to stick it out. I get that it's not for everyone's taste though.

Mick Psyphon Jun 11 2021 10:46 pm Episode #2 I’m going to completely refrain from the use of expletives in my review of ep#2… as much as I want to lash out in the most graphical and descriptive manner… I’m not going there.

Let’s get the good stuff out of the way. The actors are really shining through some terrible screenwriting and direction. I look forward to seeing them in drama roles that deserve their talents.

Other things that are good: cinematography (within the limits of tge budget… we’ll done); musical score; and casting.

EVERYTHING else is questionable to the point of making me wonder whether the director/producer really wanted to be involved in this unintelligible drug trip.

In ep#1, there was at least 1 example of well presented exposition. Unfortunately, ep#2 had exponentially LESS exposition; and it had an equal amount of justification to include MORE exposition. We have zero understanding as to why any of these characters came together, or why the care about getting involved with each other. The actions of the heroes seem more like the result of bad drug trips than anything else. Even worse are the numerous students, who behave so irrationally on the roof. Yes, it’s obvious that they’re reacting to the supernatural situation, but there’s no buildup to it! Nothing in the story that gives any rationale for the events that unfold.

It wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the rooftop scene seems to be an important event; and without giving away any spoilers, suffice to say that whenever you introduce a supernatural event to an otherwise normal environment, it must be important. Unfortunately, aside from not knowing what the hell is going on during the event, afterward you’re left questioning who’s really vital that the plot vs which characters did the writers simply give interesting, but dead/end side stories to… vs did the director just demonstrate (again) how little she knows about story telling via film.

Worse than ep#1 is the impression that everyone in this series is either constantly under the influence of psychotropic drugs, or the dire simply doesn’t give a damn. The maniacal laughter and responses from various characters… the massive plot holes, which result in character development that has no meaning whatsoever… and the gratuitous use of sexual innuendo (whether deliberate, or not.

I want the main characters to make sense… Just as I want the supporting characters to play an integral role in the big picture.. I just can’t help the feeling that we’ve witnessed is nothing but a random set of events , carried out by people who would otherwise by screaming at the too after all’

Firstly, let's get the good stuff out of the way (because there ain't much of it, so far)! The acting as as good as can be expected; and I don't care WHO you cast in these roles, you're not going to see my h better... if at all. Honestly, the actors do an amazing job at investing themselves in their characters; and the audience is left genuinely craving more.

I sense the makings of a great storyline, but in ep#1 it just falls flat. The director it is definitely putting in a best effort to make chicken salad out if chicken shit. I've never resorted to the use of expletives in providing my review of a K-Drama, but for this episode I have no other choice.

It's as if the screenwriter(s) were on acid the entire time! Have they not heard of "exposition"? The audience is expected to just accept (or know about) so many integral background details, unless they've already read the book. Guess what? Most people who watch this WON'T have read it!

The beginning was cool. It's easy enough to catch in that the protagonist learned of her powers at a young age; and that it was somehow connected with a traumatic event. Beyond that, it just seems like we're being told to eat a turd sandwich; and to accept that it's going to be a great experience. We're never given any background into what's going on at the school, why the students act like they drop acid like weekend ravers, or why some of the characters are somehow special.

Honestly, I've only once dumped on a K-Drama previously; and even then, I recognized that the actors did their best to save the show, but this is the first time that I genuinely feel as if I've wasted my time.

I feel bad for the actors, whom I can see are doing their very best to make it work. I just don't know whether it's going to get any better.

I'm going to persist; and push on to the next episode. If it proves me wrong, I'll gladly post my review for that episode confirming it.

Dear God! Now I know what Thorias went through with the CW's Batwoman series. Ouch!

NM Jun 10 2021 6:40 am I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be confused as hell when watching this if I didn't read the novel first. Anyway I really, really, really love the relationship between Eun-yeong and In-pyo in the novel. Their partner-in-crime bond is so strong with all the banters. I think this drama portrayed their relationship quite well.

NJH's acting here surprised me. When I read the novel, I never thought In-pyo's visual as NJH--I thought some older actors would be suited better. But NJH nailed his role. I didn't know he could embody In-pyo's character this good.

I've been there and I found that's it's not me who is weird, but the movie itself was. I thought I skipped a lot of things as I didn't understand a single thing going on. This series has a lot to offer, but the plot is twisted more than you think it is. It's made to make you wonder. It's made so that you'll make fun of yourself at the end thinking "what did I just watch?".

The Ghosts turning into Jellies is a peculiar plot in itself, but I didn't think it would be like this. I cannot say it's a good series, and I can't really say that it's a rotten tomato. It's like a pandora's box. You'll get what you're not expecting. Whatever is the word to best describe it. I don't really understand why NJH signed for this. I think it's something new and haven't been created before so he took the leap. A Weird Leap. Whatever.

That’s exactly how I’m feeling right now but now that I finished it I’m just looking back at all the emotions that we’re going on. So many plot holes and scenes that didn’t connect well at all. I’m horrified in one scene and confused the next. The trailer is so colorful and bubbly but oh boy does it get kind of get scary and dark. I believe this whole show meant a lot more beyond the surface level. There’s so many hidden messages despite all the jellies. I am still analyzing and seeing whether there is something else to this series. If the director or writer wanted a fun and fantasy series they would have done it but this was way too dark! This show will make you question a lot what the hell is going on and leave you puzzled lmao

I still don’t know what the heck I just watched and honestly I still don’t understand the plot but if they made a second part I would watch it. It’s a nice break from the stereotypical kdramas also it’s only six episodes less than an hour each so it’s worth the watch. Acting was superb!! Honestly I watched because I love the leads and they did not disappoint.

And then action and horror too?. the editing, even in the veri long ending credit with just some dialog, What is that?, I never watch series or movie like this, so what I feel is so complicated. Its like you feel "huh?" but also "wow!" in the same time. Definetely it is something new, at least for me. in the end, if you ask me, "Do you like it?" 100% like it.

However, over it's duration it came over as somewhat too self consciously 'wacky'. The two lead characters could have been better developed, as could the fairly oblique story line. The cgi was great and it was certainly different. Lastly, the swearing was really annoying and pointless.

Netflix should stop producing their own kdramas because it will not suit to the Korean's taste even international fans. Netflix should take notes on how TVN execute sci-fi dramas.

And everyone is really homophobic in the last ep which I guess brings insight to Korea that no one sees in cliche kdramas. Honestly was lost at how the characters where so accepting of how she could see jellies and I didn’t know what was going on half the time but maybe I’m just dumb. Anyways, the cinematography is really cool, I would watch another season. I’m still confused tho ngl

Dede Sep 29 2020 6:46 pm It was very different. The first word I thought of off the bat was, “this is weird”. And that thought didn’t leave my mind even when the show ended. The series was short and slightly episodic. It definitely isn’t for everyone but since it’s so short I think it’s worth a try. A lot of the plot was confusing and there were in my opinion some plot holes. However, the characters were fun enough and the graphics were cool enough that I would watch if there was another season.

There was a lot of visual editing but it wasn’t as interesting as it looked. Im at the first episode and I still couldn’t bring myself to watch it. I mean why is there a sticky gooey stuff coming from their body and why did her mother turned into a jelly creature??? Sorry Nam joohyuk but I gotta pass on this one.

This is the weirdest Korean drama I have ever seen in my whole life. I had no clue what was happening in episode one and two, I am being so honest here I didn't even understand many parts but from episode three things get understandable and make more sense.

I love Mr. Mackenzie (Yoo Teo), he appears from episode three, from then things get very interesting.

So the school was built on an ancient burial ground. There is a hole where the air flows. This place contains so many energies. The energies feed off children's laughter. As they are feeding on the energies, jelly-like monsters are created. The Grandfather who wanted to channel those energies anthe people were worried about Mr.Hong and safe happiness changing the world. Control the breathing hole and change the luck and you will have the power to rule the nation. That was the plan designed by Safe Happiness. To those who are strong, the place will appear normal. However, it draws in the who lack energy. That's why people keep jumping in

The CGI team did a great job in VFX. The jelly monsters looked so real and also the special effects and other graphics are excellent. It is something to be praised cause it's really good. Coming to the writing, The drama is very trippy, it's as if someone wrote this drama doing acid. It's quirk and fun. also, the music is really good. Lesbians! Lesbians are everywhere! Episode 6 is bloody the best episode in this drama. Must watch! It opens up social issues and I love it. We see a lesbian couple and we see a lot more crazy things happening in the school. My favorite episode is three and six.

Overall, The School nurse files is beautifully weird. It's very trippy and hard to understand, proceed with caution cause your in for some next level supreme existential crisis. I really loved, to

Sometimes it is nice to mix it up and watch something that is so different from everything else. Cliche dramas can get overly boring after awhile. This was well done. Love the cast too

I mean yeah it's super weird HAHA but still in a good way. I like somthing wird tho, this is good one if you searching some weird-but-good drama, entertaining, and has a side that potray about about current issue (bullying, lgbt, etc). Still a lot case that has to be done, a lot question that wasn't answer yet. I'm pretty sure there is something, easter eggs behind this: the chairman statue and painting, Hong's accident that hurt his feet, and the next action that Mackenzie will do since he did'nt go to the basement.

Jug Y-Mi acting is amazing, i can see her weird charisma, her strange facial expression is the best. Also Nam Jo Hyuk is suitable for this character, quite and strange kinda weirdo but REALLY HANDSOME! Oh ya one thing that cacth my attention, o do line Mackenzie character xxo

Khalala Sep 26 2020 3:37 am Binge watching it in one sitting yay! Its weird and doesnt follow the standard Korean drama type but its good and quirky, I Love it. I really love Jung Yu Mi and Nam Joo Hyuk chemistry. The romance is kinda subtle but that what makes it more endearing hahah. The swearing too OMG I love it and makes them more relatable. Who doesn't swear in real life.

And to who said why high school story used foul languange, well because to make it more real I think. And in this drama they just use a few curses while in real life, there's so many and more foul languange that've been used Haha

well the downside, the story is kinda hard to understand and 6 episode is just TOO SHORT to explore all the story.

I hope there's gonna be a Season 2 because they deserved it

Anne Sep 25 2020 9:17 pm Seems like Netflix-produced kdramas (actually most Netflix productions) are rife with swearing. Seeing Jung Yumi saying the f-word is a turn-off for me. And why is it that most Netflix high school stories use foul language? Many of us started watching Korean dramas because they are cleaner (violence, sex, swearing) than American TV and movies. It saddens me that Netflix translators (or is it really the script?) are going this way.

As for the plot, it does not appeal to me. In fact I fell asleep in Ep. 1. I’m trying to watch it to see what happens. And I am a fan of Jung Yumi. It seems to be getting good reviews on other sites so I guess it appeals to younger viewers. Yuck.

Jung So Min is perfect for the role, love her character. Nam Joo Hyuk gives his role a quiet, layered sincerity. Teo Yoo’s McKenzie an intriguing character, definitely should do more in Season 2. Every time someone says "noona romance", 9/10 it's just the age of the actors lol, it has nothing to do with the story. The directors can't always find actors who 1) they like 2)are popular 3)who have the same age. As long as the age gap is not too visible (15+ or different generations), it doesn't change the drama.

sam Feb 16 2020 5:22 am idk why its already getting hate just bc it being a noona romance. there are a lot of dramas where not only has the age gap helped in establishing the vibe, but sometimes even goes unnoticeable and isn't that big of a deal. when the camellia blooms is a great example of this. although i don't find the age concerning, the immature is definitely off putting to say the least - but I can totally see NJH in this - so i'm excited!

Just look at the last two dramas coming out of actress Jo Bo-Ah. At least in Noona Romance they deal with this subject, on the contrary it is normal. Ridiculous.
