"School 2021" follows the life and growth of students at a vocational high school, including Kim Tae-Jin (Kim Yo-Han) and Na Geum-Young.

Kim Tae-Jin was once a taekwondo player and he won the bronze medal at the National Athletics Competition, but he had a serious ankle injury. Around this time, his father's business went bankrupt. Kim Tae-Jin quit taekwondo and he entered the vocational high school. He has a mature personality for his age, but he doesn't know what do in front girls he likes.

Na Geum-Young is a 2nd grade student at the vocational high school. She wants to become a Youtuber and she is studying cooking at the vocational school. Her father runs a karaoke room on the outskirts of the town.

Ahn Seo-Hyun was first offered the lead female role, but could not come to an agreement with production company SR Pictures.

But I think that they are very consistent of casting kim yo han as main lead because he is very suited for the character kim tae-jin as because he was a taekwondo player. But of course I do really want the two to have a drama together I think they will do so well. But this drama is for my kim yo han. It wouldn't be right for someone else to take his character because kim yo han waited and wanted to take on this role. Well looking forward to this great drama!!

jsy Feb 26 2021 3:38 pm Kinda excited for this because Im a convert fan of actor Kim Yohan. He made the lead male role on ALSB actually more likeable than the original! It's hard to make a jerk-role warm and charming! The School series has always favored casting drama newbies or those with just some experience under their belt and they all and up having good careers eventually (a recent exception is Kim So hyun who was already well known when 2015 came out) so I expect to see fresh faces for 2021 as well.

And in light of recent events, I hope they don't cast anyone with a shady school past in any of the roles.

Lol Feb 23 2021 12:48 am KYH's acting is not that great is ALSB probably because that is how the male lead is like? He's acting the same as the chinese version of the drama and I think he acts well. I do agree that they should not cast people based on their popularity but that is what will bring the ratings of the drama up. Honestly, I don't mind if he's casted for this because I want to know if can go beyond his comfort and show us a new side of him. Also, I don't think they will pick Kim So Hyun because she previously played in School 2015.

ner Feb 21 2021 6:11 am i dont understand why production team of school 2021 being really persistent on casting Yohan as the male lead... his acting as the main actor in ALSB is not that good tbh. his expression, energy & the way he talk is really frustrating/disappointing like urghhh.

as a KBS's School drama fan, if he's acting is not improving & causes the dwfall of School drama, idk what to say. Casting an actor based on his/her popularity but then they cannot deliver quality performance sucks btw :/

   Hello KBS Drama team,I would like to request you something.I’m a fan of School Series and also become to be a fan of Kim Yohan. When SBS announced “School 2020” will cast with Kim Yohan, I was so excited and looking forward to it. Believe me, it is not only me.At first, Drama was scheduled to be aired in August. I know that KBS will no longer air the drama for some cases, I’m wondering the drama is totally canceled or still can be air by other station? Or the production also stopped? There are lot of Kim Yohan fans across many countries, as a prove he even got rank 1 in the survival show of produce x101. Also School Drama is famous. I’m definitely sure, it will be a hit . It’d be sorry to lose such a chance. Please confirm the date of air or announce the something related to “School 2020” drama whether it is canceled or not, we(fans) need clarification. We need to prepare to support for our idols.

Ahn Seo Hyun is good too but her age is a little too young, it would be weird for the audiences to see if in a kissing scene with the male lead since she is still a minor in middle school.

Preferably someone the same age as Yohan or older would be better since Yohan looks more mature than his actual age.
