Jang Jae-Yeol is a mystery writer and radio DJ. He suffers from a obsession. Ji Hae-Soo is going through her first year fellowship in psychiatry at a University Hospital. She chose psychiatry because she doesn't want to perform surgeries. After she meets Jang Jae-Yeol, her life goes through big changes.

First script reading took place at SBS Studio in Tanhyun, Ilsan, South Korea sometime in April, 2014.
Filming for the series began in early May, 2014. The first scene filmed took place in Bundang, South Korea. The scene involved Jang Jae-Yeol (Zo In-Sung) going to see his girlfriend who betrayed him. He expects to hear an explanation from her, but he hears an unexpected truth instead.
Filming moves to Okinawa, Japan from June 22, 2014 through June 28, 2014. Actress Kong Hyo-Jin was involved in a car accident on June 19, 2014 which will cause her to arrive in Okinawa later (by June 24 or 25, 2014).

Just because I learn psychology makes this drama relatable with me. Looooovee it!! Love all cast! Indeed.

The drama deals with mental health so delicately which shows that even normal person have their own mental issue. Zo In-Sung's acting is 10/10 and Gong Hyo-Jin's performance is over the top! Her fiesty temper is so funny and she's so caring at the same time, her chemistry with Zo In-Sung is so lovely.. Jae-Yeol (In-Sung's character) dealing with his young illusion and getting beat up by his brother is just sooo sad. This drama is really a true gem!

Gong Hyo Jin is a very versatile actress and pretty appealing. They did very well as a love team. All characters portrayed their respective roles excellently. This drama taught me well regarding understanding the diverse personalities of every person I encountered. It broadens my perspective about mental issues. I love you Jo In Sung!!!!

Though it was underrrated because it tackles mental health which is something that was not openly talked about especially back in 2014 when this drama was aired. Jo In Sung was really great in portraying his role as someone who has schizophrenia, his acting was superb/on point. After watchinf Crash Landing On You, this is my #1 Kdrama at the moment. I hope to have the time to watch all of Jo In Sungs dramas and movies, and really want to see him in person-this is in my bucket list...

Chemistry between In Sung and Hyo Jin is just immense. I love the characters are flawed but mature and it will really hit you in your heart how they tackle mental health i learned a lot from this drama. Highly recommended.

Stories involving Psychiatry problems are hard to understand but me in the medical field, this is a very good series. The writers worked hard and did their research well. The actors are all great, they deserve Awards , their acting almost perfect. I commend the lead actors JIS and KHJ , good acting and good chemistry , it seems like they’re couple in reality... Many may not appreciate this series but for those in the medical field who can relate please watch, you will not regret missing some hours of sleep.....

The chemistry of gong hyo jin and jo in sung was no joke. No wonder even people back then thought they were dating in real life. It's an amazing series to raise mental health awareness of people. Lee kwang soo and lee sung kyung are also funny and cute. you shouldn't miss this great series!!

Alex Nov 04 2020 12:02 am I feel like this drama is underrated. I didn't know about this drama until 2 yrs ago and I'm really thankful I was able to watch this drama. As a psychology graduate, I really appreciate the uniqueness of this drama. It is not easy to portray mental illnesses and I really admire this drama (& actors) a lot for doing it so well. And the way they let the audience know that the main character has schizo, I was dumbfounded. Great drama! This definitely goes as one of the best Kdramas I ever watched.

Episode 1 - 3 is fast paced and fun.

Slows down from episode 4 - 8.

Ramps up at episode 8.

Slows down from episode 9 - 11.

Picks up from episode 12 - 16 (end) and you won't want to stop.

My only negative is I didn't like the directing and cinematography. The drama would do too many closeups of the character's faces, or the bokeh would be too strong and there was too much of a warm tone on Gong Hyo Jin's face that made me feel dizzy.

Really wish they had lowered the depth of field in some shots and kept it simple. There is no cliche villain to overcome at the end as the characters have to look from within.

The romance between Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin is realistic, tender and sweet. The struggles they must overcome, having to stay together while one person is managing a severe mental illness is heartbreaking, but gives viewers hope.

Give the drama a try until the end!

Anne Aug 19 2020 7:04 am Everything is so natural in this drama. Their relationship itself is natural despite their unusual relationship preferences compared to most dramas. Skinship is so natural as well, you'd think that they were actually together.

This drama looks so chill and stuff but it really isn't. I really loved the healing journey on this one. I highly recommend this even though you're not the one for "old" Korean dramas.

watched this kdrama several times and i so love it. the casts did all an awesome job. the storyline was not the usual love story. love how the director ws able to show the emotions of the couple in their eyes. many realizations were made about love and mental disorder. an eye opener for us all that persons with mental disorder should not be discriminated. we are hoping for a second season of this kdrama though it was already 6 years ago when it was shown in Korea. would like to see how jang jae beom progress in his therapy , same with lee kwang soo in his love life. also, they may show how a schizoprenic would have to live without a relapse ( if that really is possible) . they may also include in the next season ( hopefully, there would really be though) other mental health issues like bipolar disorder etc. we really hope that they would consider another season of this besides we miss seeing Zo In Sung in mini series and he has indeed a great chemistry with Kong Hyo-Jin.

Chemi-shin Minho Jun 11 2020 8:49 am I finished this drama in just two days since there are no boring parts at all. I actually shed a tear in the final episode. Aside from great casting and timely theme, this show has one of the most amazing soundtracks of all Korean dramas. (side note) EXO Chen is indeed the king of OSTs. After watching this, I searched for dramas in which Chen sang the OST.

Realization: All of us had/have/will have some problems in our life. This show effectively narrates how people from different walks of life comfort and uplift each other in times of difficulties. Most people either turn their backs on someone or pity them because of mental instability. Although medicines are still needed, this drama depicts that what these people need the most is the support and trust from their loved ones that one day they can overcome their own fears. They may not completely overcome their woes but still let's do our part. Mental health is not something that should be overlooked. It is not something to be shrugged at. Just like when one gets a diagnosis for being "physically ill," being mentally unstable is not something that one chooses.

Tuesday May 31 2020 9:29 am An Honest Review on It's Okay, That's Love (2014)

Would you believe it? It was shown in 2014, but I only saw it this year thanks to the ECQ period. Anyway, I really love this Korean Drama although I feel it's underrated. There were so many life lessons I learned in watching this K-drama. I noticed how the writer and director pointed out the issues of family, friendship, marriage, career, personal struggles, and romance was just a bonus here.

But what I really appreciate with this K-drama are the following:

1. Mental Health Awareness - It's not every day that you find a series that uses mental health issues as the main plot. This is a psychiatric romcom so, it was balanced with romance, comedy, and SECRET. Hahaha. I don't want to spoil it.

2. Chemistry of All Four Leads - I love how this drama features three men and one woman as the main lead and second leads. Unlike in most dramas, I watched wherein the main lead falls in love with each other, and the second leads also end up with each other. In this K-drama, you won't get that. The four leads have their personal struggles and I love how the writer gave justice to the character development of Jo Dong Min, Park Soo Kwang, Ji Hye Soo, and Jang Jae Yeol.

3. OST is very Groovy - The last time I enjoyed a K-pop OST was in Goblin (2016). But now, I must say, this K-drama also has a great soundtrack. Let me clear things here, I am not a fan of Korean music. I only listen to songs that remind me of the Korean dramas I've really loved.

4. Family Values - Both Jae Yeol and Hye Soo have high-regard for their family. Both characters loved their parents and sibling dearly. That's why I really appreciate how the writer highlighted that.

5. Forgiveness and Reconciliation -This K-drama tells us the picture of true forgiveness and reconciliation among family members. One thing that's realistic about K-drama is that there are no evil villains who plan to kidnap the main actor in the last episode.

6. Self-Love - I love how this drama tells us to love ourselves and take care of ourselves first before anything else. If you watch this K-drama, you will truly appreciate the last greeting of DJ Jang Jae Yeol before his signing off from the air.

Laura Mar 29 2020 2:00 pm Im glad that I watched it now not when this was broadcasting as I think I could grasp the theme more now days as Im more mature .This is a masterpiece that talks every aspect in a very open way & also a heartwarming story .I think plot is awesome , actually these characters look very real ,not just the main couple side stories were very powerful .Acting is superb .No wonder this got such awards.D.O 's character is so real ,Kwangsoo &Lee sunkyung's chemistry was also good ,and characters like Dong min, head female doctor , jang beum old & even younger one depicted their character so real.I like this drama's bromance too

So Lala Feb 15 2020 10:19 am It's so well-wraped. I think that's what nowadays drama don't have. Nowadays drama was so focused on how to attract beholder's attention and even if the storyline is good, they're always lacking in the ending or the story ends up has no deeper meaning.

This well-wrapped element makes this drama long live, classic, remembered and relevant for whatever time and period you watch it.

And it has brilliant soundtracks too <3 ... 4.8 stars from me

Can we???? talk about how jang jae-yool has a dissociative disorder?? I've worked with patients with schizophrenia and that's not how JJY presents at all (one psychotic symptom sure but no delusions or disorganized symptoms) but he definitely has 1.extensive early childhood trauma 3.evidence of active imagination 4.trauma symptoms (dissociative amnesia of killing his father, sleeping in bathtub because it's the only safe place, painful memories of abuse) 5.potential self states in the form of gang-woo who represents him as a child and imagery skills to bring peace to gang-woo in giving him a foot bath and shoes? I work with trauma disorders all day and JJY's symptoms don't match. I really think this is a trauma response resulting in chronic PTSD and potentially DID.

Wanna make it clear, nothing is wrong with schizophrenia! People with schizophrenia just present differently but often people with DID are initially misdiagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder with psychotic features.

My eyes are always swelling bc of crying. I pity the situations of the lead casts but they are all competitive people. Love this drama.

And Lee Kwang Soo showed his versatility here. From being a funny Kwang Soo from Running Man to a man with tourette syndrome real quick. Plus, the psychological attack of this drama is just superb! Still one of the best, if not the best, kdrama for me.

The OST used were all addicting and i add all of them to my playlist. Eventhough this is a 2014 series. I will repeatedly watch it as if it is my first time. You will never get bored and this drama is so addicting. No rating percentage can rate this drama. This is more than 100/100

The best out of all was that all the cast did a great job. The friendship among the roomates was cute. I thought only park bo gum could do such side characters best but kyung do soo proved me wrong he did a really great job. All the caste did a great job. How can a drama be so perfect??. The chemistry is awesome between two lead actors, there are lots of sweet scenes but don't worry it is not tiring and too cheesy. It is hard to move on. One of the best and must watch!

I replayed it a lot from 2014 to 2017 and still make me comfort to not skip the timeline. I love how the friendship takes, honest and how-they-are, i love how they suffer from problem, i love how they hug and kiss, it really attched. Hope that will be another "geunyang" drama just like this, soon.

Annie Jun 21 2016 5:04 am The first half of this was well done but it unravelled in the later episodes and became inconsistent. However it still avoided Kdrama cliches. JIS and GHY are professionals who always deliver and this drama was no exception. They did justice to their roles. But the romance was stressed a bit much. The key to recovery I thought was the relationship between the brothers on which more time could have been spent. Yes it helps that he had a loving and supportive girlfriend but at its heart the brothers have to accept, forgive, make peace with what happened to their lives and move on.

The actors playing Dong-min and Jae-bum did a great job in making the drama more than a romance and were very good.

Conversely there was too much emphasis on the Kang woo character who didn't add much, almost as if they persisted with it to keep the actor in all the episodes.

But I had to keep watching because of Kyungsoo and Kwangsoo. However after some episodes, the amount of laughter and tears I had were uncontrollable. This drama became one of my top favorite dramas of all time. It is so heartbreaking and heartwarming. I've always been a fan of psychological drama and this drama strengthens my love further. As a rookie actor, Do Kyungsoo played his role amazingly. I'm always in awe of his acting. I became a fan of Insung through this drama. What I adore most is how close this cast is. Even today the actors are amazing friends with each other. That's really awesome.

Everything was so good, the storyline, the script, the acting, and the OSTs are exceptional. This is not your typical "Oh my GOD the actor is so cute!!! I can't help but watch!!" series. And I'm not saying that because Jo In Sung is not cute, (he's freakin gorgeous) but I'm saying this because what makes you watch it further is because of all the characters and the interesting pace of the drama and romance. The maturity of the characters and how they handled the problem was so realistic.

So, I just really, with all of my heart, send all love and thanks to the casts and people behind IOTL. Thank you for making such an excellent show. For the first time ever, I've rewatched a show and IOTL really deserve it. I hope I could come across another excellent drama to dethrone IOTL from my TOP List!

Anyone who criticises this drama probably can't handle the serious things that are happening in the real world. If you dropped this drama in the first three episodes, I honestly feel sorry for you, cause you are missing out on a extremely good drama, yes it's a bit slow paced at first, but it's only because they want you to get to know the characters and their stories, it not a drama where they rush everything and you don't know what is going on and then it's over. Secret Garden is daebak and all but it was kinda boring sometimes it wasn't exactly funny enough for you to laugh your ass out like you would for this drama. I really liked the main character at first because she seemed like a competent and atypical romantic heroine and yet

by the 8th episode, I'm out. Sorry. She's just too annoying. Like its actually painful for me to watch her act like this and I guess thats part of the plot to see how the hero will deal with her too but I'm already turned off. It was really good so far though, from the incorporation of mental health, side characters, it wasn't too distracting and well made.

I guess not everybody get the message of the drama. The message of the drama in general is to remove stereotypical thought towards people with mental health issue. They are the same just like us but the difference is they are sick

I love their conversation, how they talked about life or how judgmental people are.

I need to remind people who comments about gong hyo jin brought up about ex girl friends again and again, that was in my opinion the detail about her sickness. She has trust issue with men. She cannot trust man, with she accepting jo in sung so fast I think its natural for people who has trust issue to brought up such things (ex girl friend) over and over. Thats just how ji hye soo character is

Wished it could have remained a bit on the lighter side, I mean dealing with the topics they are dealing with are very heavy. I do wish they would have stayed like the first three episodes or so. I too would have liked to have seen the relationship blossom and grow instead of the problems and seriousness of the mental health problems, as the series went on.

Other than that, funny moments, best OST, great characters and wonderful setting, and despite it's flaws, a tolerable story. I rate this series 8 of 10 and probably the best Kdrama out to date.

My only deduction in grade for the series was because of the murder and very serious mental health issues. I think if it was just about his writing career and her doctor career, and a few more vacations and adventures to America and Europe would have made this a hard Kdrama to ever beat.

I enjoyed the music and acting and most of the story, but wish Ji Hae-Soo could make up her mind and forget about ex girlfriends. It's okay in the beginning, but by episode ten I'm like, oh my god lady, give it up and move on.

Zo In-Sung is a star.

My only, and ONLY complaint, is that the Kong Hyo-Jin's character can't make up her mind and that drags on for a while from the middle to end of the story. I wish it would have stayed "light" as the movie refers, throughout the entire series. I would have enjoyed the tone down in seriousness at times. The music elevated the mood immediately after the series would enter a "dark" moment, but in reality the movie stayed 90 percent light, and just 10 percent dark. (Though it did address some very serious mental conditions.)

I would have liked to have seen the two main characters progress to an adult relationship instead of arguing constantly (usually started by Kong Hyo-Jin's character) over past girlfriends or relationships. I really thought the last half of the series could have been focused more on the lighter side of love and their relationship and overcoming the obstacles of such differences, and I (as would many of my friends, would have put this in our top ALL TIME favorite series) but I'm not the creator, and I appreciate what the writer, director and production team created.... I think I can say though that most people who I've talked to who watched the series also related something similar (as do many of the comments below.)

Overall this was a terrific kdrama. As a writer myself, I related to the main character Zo In-Sung, and him and I are close friends now, though we've never met.

The music was fun, and I keep the playlist from youtube and the 8track app on in the headphones when I've been writing lately. I took my daughter to the park today, and had the music playing on my iPhone and really wanted to restart the series again, even though I just finished it yesterday.

If you haven't seen this series yet, it is probably one of the best Korean series one can watch to date. As soon as they figure out better endings, Korean series' will launch into previously unheard of recognition for Korean cinematography, and I can't wait.

Bottom line, great series which I related to the main male character (and still do). Ordered the box set of dvd's today.

Don't say that much about Korean dramas. Most seem too unreal.

This was great.

Watched in Missoula, Montana, U.S.A. And just ordered my box set of the series, whish the directors Korean cut box set was in English! Loved all of it though, especially the Korean scenery, much like here in Western Montana.

Soundtrack was great as well.

It handles the sensitive issues of mental health quite well, without being overly sentimental or trite. ZIS did not win a best Actor award for this, but really deserves it. Because I really understand the struggles that come from painful experiences from young. I too came from a dysfunctional family. I saw violence, affairs, and many other memories I wanted to really just erase. Aside from the wonderful acting and portrayal of their romance, I found myself crying and weeping so much because I could really relate to the emotional struggles the leads felt. That sometimes you really do hide away negative memories and shelf them aside or think that you could do without confronting them or finding a way to come to terms with them. But really, the mind wouldn't allow you to. Years past and you think that you're fine, that you got past it. But it hides in the crevice of your mind and colours your entire world and you can't move on. Anyhow, I fell into a very depression because of the memories of experiences that had just looped and looped in my head. Feeling suicidal, sometimes feeling I could be better off dead, and feeling all the judgement and inability of people to emphatise what actually happened. Cutting off people and feeling more and more isolated because it feels like nobody could understand. Sounds ridiculous but maybe this was how God spoke, because I felt so trapped, felt like I had no way out. The show maybe did show me shows perhaps society does care about people like me. I'm not schizophrenic, but watching the show was like watching my own pain played out. And it taught me that I needed to go to that memory, and look it in the eye and forgive it. There are some things that really stood out to me in the show. Young Jin saying that we place so much expectations on ourselves and others, but we are human and we do make mistakes. Jae Yeol being able to see the humanity and love that in his brother, honestly, though he probably felt he wronged him, still reminded of people we want to write off but who are human and not monsters. When Hye Soo said the JY made a mistake when he decided to act without consulting or informing those he loved. I mean these were so simple, but it struck me. Its like it took a torchlight and shone on the parts I did not want to face, and telling me to see it as it as it is, a thing that happened in the past, and not feel the fear and emotions, but acknowledging it as something past, and the people that made the mistakes, they made all that in the past. I watched it and felt glad that someone bothered enough to make a show about this, I'm glad it was not just a show about love, but compassion, and it showed me maybe compassion is what I needed to break out of the cycle in my head, compassion for others, and for myself.

I watched the show two days ago, finished it in two days, took the whole of today just reflecting and reframing my own mind. Might be a stretch to say this show might have healed me a little. But i think it did, and I'm glad someone made a show that tried hard to focus on reflecting reality and a little less on building unattainable castles in the air. Might sound like another exaggeration, but it does feel like shedding light on this aspect of life is like a little move forward for society and humanity. So thank you, scriptwriter, Noh Hee Kyung. And the actors who bothered to portray pain and emotions so realistically. Was a beautiful show.

Optimist Apr 11 2015 9:32 am This is a very attractive K-drama that gains momentum from episode to episode. The script is intelligent and the acting by all the characters is of the first order. They make difficult emotional interactions among the various characters so believable, and tender in a deep way.

I am particularly impressed by the versatility and expressive abilities of Kong Hyo-Ju who is able to convey the most fleeting emotions through her beautiful and intelligent face. Her graceful and so intelligent acting remind me of a great young actress of the past: Audrey Hepburn. She makes all her acting partners shine.

What some younger viewers may not fully appreciate is what a major breakthrough this K-Drama is for Korea, given the traditional Korean fear of confronting mental issues. From this perspective too this is a beautiful series.

sandra Apr 08 2015 1:31 am i spoke too soon, im at episode 14 now and the story is quite heavy now, not so much the comedy that it was at first. but still this drama is highly recommended, makes you realize how clueless most people are about mental illnesses, and how sad the stigma from society is. i just hope the ending gets lighter, i hate sad endings :/

Also just the colors, from the outfits to the scenery to the decor and just everything is so sunny and sweet despite the theme of mental issues. So so sad discovering the little surprises one by one. Can they all end up being happy? Can we all? The drama deserves all the accolades and achievements they've undoubtedly had. Much respect to the lovable lead couple as well as the other cast who made this whole drama what it was - masterpiece.

The show was marvelous, (we all know that for certain), only, the contents are for the mature and most teens cannot relate that's why they end up getting bored along the way. My sister, (13 yrs old) only watched the show because of her idol DO from EXO. I'm thankful to her for recommending the drama. The best Korean drama series I've ever watched :)

Their chemistry is great and IOTL is very different than other dramas. It deals with various problems in its own unique way and the script is just amazing. It's very realistic and the conversations between the leads are just wow. Every time they argue and diss each other I'm like, whoaa that was damn freaking good. And Mia: Please keep your negative comments to your self. You're free to say that you didn't like this drama, but saying that you're sick of a actress is downright mean. Kong hyo-jin is a freaking good actress, so please don't say such things. Thank you.

Story-line genuinely touched me- I basically laughed and cried through the whole drama. Recommend it to everyone absolutely amazing.

Loved her quirkiness in Master's Sun, love her feistiness in this drama as well. Chemistry & romance off the charts with this drama!!! What a great couple. while learning a lot about mental illness, the drama did not depress me. Such a well done drama, I highly recommend. Rewatch value: 10, Feel Good Value at the End: 10+++.

The writer and the artist who played the characters at it's best. I can say Gong Hyo Jin, always displays a different part of her side. I really appreciate, I was very much interested with every human's behavior that is affecting every act and every attitude. I am a SPED student so I understand the concept of the drama.

It's Okay, This is Love talked about some serious issues but still managed to keep the show light-hearted, fun and not too serious. Not to mention the show had such beautiful scenery!

I've watched a few of Gong Hyo-Jin 's dramas and she was awesome as usual! It was my time watching a drama with Jo In-Sung, and after finishing this drama I became a fan of his, so I immediately started watching his previous drama That Winter The Wind Blows! If you haven't yet watched it I highly recommend it!

I would like to applaud the scriptwriter, as well as the director, producers, staffs and all the amazing casts that made this drama come to life. I was completely drawn in to the reality of the plot and was mesmerized by the sincerity of the actors and actresses. The chemistry between the male and female lead was so strong and overwhelming that my heart constantly ached for them. I also learned so much about the many types of psychological illness out in this world, and also about the raw beauty of love. I never imagined a drama in 2014 that would stand on par with My Love From the Star, but It's Okay, That's Love made it happen. 10/10 - Must Watch

I love the way zo in sung always put himself in his character. He is damn beautiful especially when he smiles. I love the lead actress as well. Seeing her character in that drama makes me feel less worried. I am in my late 20s, yet I fear hearing or feeling what Sex is all about but now, it think it is worth trying. All the casts did great jobs. A nice piece though.

bb Oct 02 2014 2:21 am Initially, I started to watch this drama because D.O was in it and I was extremely curious to see how he would do in acting, considering his quiet personality. BUT OMG man, I really should've gotten into dramas sooner Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung's chemistry is PERFECT in here! I love how Kwang Soo's a great comic relief (but still has his own little sub-plot) and, of course, Kyung Soo's acting was really well!

It is a deep and strong story about human psyche and soul. Very good acting. I have to praise Lee Kwang-Soo for his acting. I never thought he was so good in serious acting.

Nor is there enough praise for the brilliance of the writer, director, and cast--especially the beloved lead actors Jo In Sung and Kong Hyo Jin, who seem to genuinely like one another and have delicious chemistry. They all created a moving testament to the power of careful medical treatment, family, friendship, forgiveness, and humor (there is lots of great comedy and warm romance, too)--and the even greater power of mature love between this amazing man and delightful woman. Not least, of course, is a terrific finale: KDrama got it so right this time.

To those who didn't like or said that they were annoyed by GHJ appearance, sorry to all of you but be true to yourself, how come you finished all the episode where in fact the face of GHJ was there all over, the only reason is that, she's great! she's natural and she has the ability to get the attention of viewers not by her physical appearance but her versatility. She does'nt have the prettiest face in Kdramas. But who else in the industry without the pretty face but still popular, in demand in commercial and is a fashion icon, who can be good in comedy or drama and is true professional that even though she still suffer from pain we've seen a perfect portrayal that the role is asking from her. I'm thankful that there's a kind of actress exist.

Thank you to Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin, two of my favorite actors who make you forget that they are acting but just sharing their love story. Every emotion, every detail was so touching. All the supporting cast big and small parts were instrumental in pulling this drama off so seamlessly. A special thank you to Gong Hyo Jin, who was injured in a car accident where she fractured her arm and hurt other parts of her body. So the scene with her in a cast was real. As injured as she was, she came to work hard on the drama in crutches making sure everyone around her felt comfortable, never showing any pain. After the last episode was filmed, she went straight to rehab to take care of her body and also rest her mind. Sung Dong II said in a interview that he was so impressed with her and fell in love with her and would have married her if he wasn't already married. hahaha. My favorite drama!

herbmom Sep 14 2014 2:05 pm This drama was fantastic. Very unique and ran the gamut from funny to very serious, ending on an upbeat note. The acting was the best I have seen in more than 200 dramas. ZIS was magnificent. GHJ was amazing and the rest of the cast stellar. The couple's relationship was the most real I have ever seen in kdramas, with lots of kissing. The whole drama was compelling and honest. It had me glued to my computer screen for two days until it was finished. The entire staff deserves kudos and many awards. Brilliant!

You can judge actor's ability in acting but for viewer having interest to a drama, is very subjective. as for me, IOIL is definitely perfect for my taste :D no makjang, no triangle love, no dragging story, no overact, no candy-type heroine, I just love everything about IOIL, it feel so fresh, so realistic and watching all characters, like watching my friends... there is no kdrama like this before, dont you agree? :D

And have you really watched IOIL from beginning until the end? if you have, I dont think you'll say that her performance is average. Honestly, quite surprise reading your comment, since this is the first time someone said ghj's acting as Ji Hae Soo is not great. Many people dont like GHJ just because her looks. Average looks maybe for their taste, but average acting? please watch IOIL again to make sure you didnt miss her amazing performance! :)

You will change the way you think about them and learn to understand that their incapacity is because of reasons we're not able to know yet still we keep on judging them. I guess if there aren't Chaebol, High School kids, amnesia, evil mother in laws, then people in Korea can't appreciate it. This is a million times better then the tripe they regurgitate over and over and the ratings are awful. Embarrassing they let such a jewel get no recognition.

K-Critic Sep 13 2014 8:08 pm An average drama for me but a hit or miss for many. This drama had a great start for the early episodes but became a boring love story afterwards. Average storyline and execution if compared to the previous time slot drama You're All Surrounded, story rotates around jo in-sung and gong hye-jin's love story, jo in-sung's family and jo in-sung hallucination with D.O . Other characters were a hit and miss, not much impact to the whole drama. The only thing that made this whole drama better is the OST, if it wasn't for the great choice of ost this drama would just be boring and very very average. Compared to gong hye-jin's previous drama Pasta, Master Sun,etc.. this was an average performance from her mainly due to the average storyline and lack of chemistry with jo in-sung. Overall I would rate this drama a 6/10 , great if u love romantic stories but if you are finding a drama with interesting storyline then this would not be your choice.

He potrayed his character really well, he didn't need to say anything his eyes told everything! OMG I LOVE EVERYTHING IN THIS DRAMA! The chemistry between JJY & JHS is one of the best things in this drama (as expected from GHJ). After I watch the love story between them I want to fall in love too! JIS and GHJ made it! They should get awards from this! Also win the best couple of the year!! Love this drama very much, never dissapointed me! I'm very greatful giving a chance to watch this absolutely lovely drama!

I've watched all the episodes and it wasn't that great tbh. Just look at the ratings, it's safe to say the general public of SK wasn't much into it either. I found it a struggle to watch.

But great OST I guess. That's about it.

I usually like Gong Hyo Jin but feel she was miscast here. No chemistry with Jo In sung and her "natural" acting style was really unsuitable for this drama.

Feline Sep 12 2014 1:19 pm I didn't really enjoy the leads relationship, I don't think the chemistry between In Sung and that lead actress was believeable. I have nothing against the actress but I don't find her good-looking at all, she just has a nice body, that's it. I found it uncomfortable looking at her face only, I think In Sung goes well when he is paired with someone who is the same level of good-looking as him, (like the lead actress in That Winter The Wind Blows).

Nevertheless, him and Kang Woo interactions were THE BEST. Only thing I was looking forward to was to watch them together, I absolutely fell in love wih Kang Woo even though his character wasn't real, I think D.O did an AMAZING job at portraying Kang Woo, and I can't believe it's his first time acting. This boy is full of potential and I am sure he will become an even bigger and better actor in the future.

Insung and D.O fighting!!!!

You two are the only reason I managed to complete watching this drama! <3

I really love the drama ! <3 I can relate to it in many ways like when it comes to family, friends and especially, to myself~~ Through Hae Soo and her mom, I realized all the sacrifices my mother did for us. There are also times when I was like ashamed because of her. I was literally crying like there's no more tomorrow~~ With jae yeol, I did not experience the violence but I know how it feels to be alone. Like you don't have anyone on your side. It's like there' s no one beside you through happy and sad times. Believe it or not but, Kpop, especially, Kdramas was like the Han Kang Woo to me. I see myself in it, it comforts me, its always there, like, it speaks to me, it always gives me hope. The only difference is Kdramas are not an illusion. :DD I am, actually, a bit anti social even before we had internet. Also, I find myself comfortable in expressing my feelings through writing. :)

I was afraid about how they can wrap up this complicated story and give viewers great ending but they did. Though it has those fast forwards moments like almost every other kdramas, the story itself is acceptable. Sooo sad i have no more dramas to look up to every week huhu.. And, thankyou, i found this! Finally! How to say in korean: JJang? Daebak? ... (almost) Perfect! Personally, first because Zo In Sung, 2nd because this is Gong Hyo Jin, 3rd because the director and the scriptwriter (you can see how the plot and the camera angle in That Winter The Wind Blows, love it) and the OST and the other cast are wow, plus i like Kyungsoo (not the whole EXO but him). Recommended!!!

Jenny Sep 11 2014 8:04 am I've got to admit that in the beginning, Hae Soo (GHJ) was annoying. I hated her attitude. BUT, THAT WAS ALL BEFORE I REALLY GOT TO UNDERSTAND HER REASON BEHIND THIS. Although she may portray a selfish and demanding woman, but that's all on the surface, her real personality is warm and extremely caring. She started to reveal her real personality on the inside more and more as she spends more time with Jae Yeol (JIS). You can really see that she actually suffers a lot more than we think. For people who gave up on the drama, PLEASE PLEASE DON'T! Honestly speaking, I watched this was because of Gong Hyo Jin. But I wasn't certain whether to continue watching this when I saw the first few episodes. But now, ALL I can say is I am certainly glad that I stayed on. I hope you guys do as well. <3

iseul Sep 09 2014 2:49 pm i love this drama! the ost is literally the best, and fits each scene perfectly. the actors and actresses are all amazing. there isn't one actor or actress that is lacking and the story line is just mindblowing. the more i watch it, the more i wonder how they even thought of writing such an awesome storyline. jang jae yeol and ji hae soo have soo much chemistry omg it's a shame they're not dating irl. and tbh i was so surprised when i saw DO, his acting is better than i thought. ,and for those ppl who are saying it's sad he has to play someone that's not real, he still has a part in the drama, a very big part that many people wanna play so it's not really sad..

Robin Sep 06 2014 3:34 am Just watch Zo In Sung's face toward the end of episode 14, when his character sees the woman he loves and doesn't say anything for quite a while, as she talks to him...oh, god, it killed me. I've read some derogatory remarks about his earlier work, but I can't imagine how he could possibly be more wonderful in this drama. He's perfect. It's all there in his face when he looks at her, before he even utters a word. Broke my heart. Brilliant job. I love this drama so much...it has become one of my absolute favorites. It's fresh, funny, painful, and touching, and feels true to life. I love how kind and informative it is when dealing with so many issues in mental health, which is still an uncomfortable, stigmatizing subject for many. All the actors are doing a great job, but I am especially impressed with Zo In Sung. Also, this is the best role I've seen Lee Kwang Soo play!!! He is as funny as usual, but this character is really showing his range. I'm excited for next week's episodes, but I don't want it to be over!

The story is so different than any other drama. All of the characters are crazy but lovable. I even fall for Jo Dong Min. Haha

The combo of cinematography and OST is the best. The songs would not get out of my mind. I love chen's and davichi's song. Bestfriend song also relaxing.

I admit that this drama is more exciting than You're All Surrounded eventhough i love Go Ara and Ahn Jae Hyun act but seung gi is lil bit boring at the drama.

ayenchoi Sep 04 2014 8:22 am this drama it's a real MASTERPIECE..sad that in korea the viewers rating is so low but i know for sure it's a great success all over the world..coz it is unique yet cozy, unpredictable but ecxiting and the love is warm yet so uneasy...it 's so fascinating and refreshing, people are the STRONGEST being in the world, coz we're gifted of a brain so we can think and do things not just for survival needs, yet.. we're so WEAK for the same reason, what we have in our heads is our greatest weapon to live a successful life but it also could be a bomb for our self destruction. this drama is great..for me it's the best of 2014(though i love my love from the stars and fated to love you). i learned a lot of things thanks to this drama..i will miss it for sure, 3 eps to go still wishing for a happy ending coz both hye soo specially jae yeol deserve it. it's ok that's love's cast, staff,directors and specially writers jjang!!fighting!

I love Kong Hyo-Jin and have been watching most of her dramas and loved everyone of them. I have reservation with Zo In-Sung but he turns out to be fantastic. I am just curious about the ending. The comment here about Kong (or Gong) is her insecurity in lives and love. I love all the songs and I found all of them in Youtube and have been listening to it. "Hero" and "Cross my mind" are my favorite.

I only watch because of Zo In-Sung. If it weren't for him I would stop watching. I hope future episodes will be better. The acting is great but the script is as slow as molasses. Ugh!!!

But with this one I am excited for every week and will be really sad once it's over for sure! Amazing actors, their chemistry is to die for. Lee kwangsoo and the other actors also did an amazing job. Also, the genre of the drama is very different because it shows psychological issues in Korea! Which I have rarely seen! The dramas usually show the pretty cute people and their perfect Cinderella lives. This is absolutely not like that!!! And very heartwarming. I find myself smiling like a fool in the most unusual situations <3. Love it! Defs should give it a try. A lot of people are saying that there are mistakes in terms of the psychoanalysis and the medical part of the drama, but we probably have to ignore those. I think we should watch the drama for the feelings and the morals! Not for he irrelevant details in this case!!!! Please do give it a try =D

The casting is pretty good in this drama too, and it's key, you get the wrong chemistry and it doesn't work. It has to show up "on screen" and here it shows up with everyone. And a bit of another surprise, D.O. , doing a great job! Ok, last comment promise. hehe.

If you don't have a background on psychology or psychiatry, you will not be able to fully understand the story. Well, many things happening in this story sometimes all at ones or one after another. I am not so sure if I will watch this drama all the way. The rating they showed in each episode for me is just right.

I love how the characters relate to each other and how they have their own illnesses to overcome. IOTL also has the best soundtrack in all of korean dramas that I've watched. I really love this drama, from the writer, director, actors/actresses, cinematography all the way to the osts. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

CW Aug 10 2014 11:43 am Wow, this is the best Kdrama I have seen in a long while!!! The first episode made no sense to me at all, so I considered it might be language barrier, but after that, wow. And the fact that In Sung and Gong Hyo are so good....I mean really? This has been a great show so far, only to episode 6 so far. And Kwan Soo!!! Wow, he can act! Not that I am surprised, but still! All the actors are great and this is going down as a favorite.... Note: Electric shock therapy should be banned. Although it's only briefly touched in this drama, it's torture, no matter what professionals have been trained to believe. Just had to say that. WELL DONE EVERYONE! Truly a pleasure to watch this.

I say most importantly the screenwriter No Hee-Kyung because without her there would be no platform for the director to direct nor any lines for the actors to hook the audience with. What I've seen of No Hee-Kyung work "Padam Padam That Winter the Wind Blows" is nothing short of genius. Her writing is complex and frequently delves into controversial subjects with a humanness that allows us redemption- if we break away from stereotypes.

As someone who also has the same view as this main character about love I fine this show helps me. I love the way all the characters interact with each other. Life is hard and no one is truly normal! Mei Aug 08 2014 12:50 am some people might see this drama as a boring and slow pace, it feels like watching your friends life or your own life. but this is absolutely a briliant sad story, it happen in daily life, mother/dad who cheating, child physical/mentally abuse, divorce, all those things cause a trauma but we never admite it as a mentally problem. we live with it like nothing happen. but the director made this bitter drama look like a candy with an eye catching and pretty shape, so it less depressing. i really like the bathroom scene at epi 6, it's pretty sad. they're facing each other wound. i also really love the ost (all of it) it match well with the scene.

I have a theory that D.O Character is Actually imaginary and supposed to be the younger version of Jang Jae Yeol.

Seeing how no one else interacts with him, and I think episode 4 really highlights this theory. It makes a lot of sense that hes imaginary and its really just to help him cope. Esp with the novel writing and the knowledge of the murder,

TBH This is a great drama and im having alot of fun watching it! Highly Recommend!

Except I'd go further saying that not only is he his imagination he's also the boy that died that caused Jae Yeols brother to be put in jail. Still not sure whether Jae Yeol is the one who killed him and blamed his brother (or something similar) or if it was really the brothers fault. This drama is crazy but I'm already in love with it :)

@mimiya Because you don't find her pretty, that ruins the fantasy for you? OK. When I was kid, I wanted all the actors/actresses to be handsome/pretty in the films I watched. Not anymore though. For me, nothing ruins the fantasy and being able to totally immerse myself in a story more than bad acting. By the way, she's regarded as one of the best actresses by film industry insiders. I think that's definitely above "average."

And About Hyo Jin's looks I like her because even if she's not as pretty as lets say Song Hye Kyo she can act really well and make a hit drama. Kong Hyo Jin has her own beauty and charms. She is also a great actress which people SHOULD be looking for when watching shows. I have been watching quite a lot of kdramas and I could say that Kong Hyo Jin is one of those actresses that I manage to enjoy watching. Her acting was not forced at all.

And just a reality check. Are you saying that good looking people should only be with good looking people? Then YOU ARE SHALLOW. You can't dictate nor say what IS reality because reality is different for everyone. You CAN'T say that something this or that are the only things that occur in real life. Because the CASE IS DIFFERENT for everyone!

Not everyone bases their relationships out-of-good-friggin-looks. Some encompasses physical appearances for they see something good within someone.
