Joo-Hyuk (Ji Sung) has been married to Woo-Jin (Han Ji-Min) for 5 years. Joo-Hyuk works at a bank and Woo-Jin works as a massage therapist. They have two young children. Due to having to pay off their apartment and supporting both of their parents, Joo-Hyuk and Woo-Jin have a hard time financially. Joo-Hyuk thinks his wife is a bad wife as well. He is even scared of her. Meanwhile, Woo-Jin is stressed from taking care of their young children and working at the same time. She has a hard time controlling her anger. Both of them are not happy with their current situation. One day, Joo-Hyuk meets his first love from his college days Hye-Won (Kang Han-Na). She tells him that she liked him back then.

Later, Joo-Hyuk helps a man on the subway and the man gives him two coins. These two coins causes Joo-Hyuk to travel back in time. When Joo-Hyuk wakes up, he finds himself in a totally different situation. He is married to Hye-Won not Woo-Jin.

Sunakochi Mar 11 2023 10:33 am I first learned about this drama on TikTok and immediately I was curious about the plot. I can't help but love the story and plot of this drama. It made me hurt at times, I even laughed out loud and cried. This drama showed a lot of things that do happen in real life and it gives us a lot of lessons. I love how it showed us that our future depends on the choices we make and depending on what those choices are, they can either give us something good or bad. I also love how diverse the characters are because we do meet diff kinds of people in our life and it is perfectly portrayed in this drama. I love it so much. ♥ 10/10

Anytime Han Ji-Min is on the screen is a gift, add in Lee Jung-Eun, a very capable supporting cast, creative script, clever concept, good direction, pleasant OST, and what's not to like... Nicely done overall, a good watch.

Nothing is left up to coincidence, every possible dynamic is taken into consideration, and the actors portrait those features of personality and inclinations in the most accurate and involving way. Every person who is in a relationship should watch this and learn. Besides the moral component and beautiful values, the cinematic presentation of this drama is incredibly beautiful, including the music, which is unusually subtle but full of emotion. Cudos to everyone involved in producing this monumental artwork of the soul.

Good series, funny, light story and some people who diss this series maybe because they prefer something more serious. After this i just want to see more of ji sung's films

Story is a bit geared towards the more mature crowd, and probably why some didn't like it. I enjoyed the story overall and is a good break from the norm. My quick take on the story: We are dealt with good or bad cards, what you do and how you play it is all up to you. 90/100

Adam West Nov 19 2021 2:02 am People are bashing the male lead because in the first seven episode he comes across as a selfish prick caring about no one else except himself. He doesn't make the best of the situation and does everything he can to ruin other people's happiness. He's unhappy with his initial wife and wishes for someone else. He gets his wish and then hates what has happened.

Hopefully, the next nine episodes gets better because I really don't want to watch this male lead anymore. I made it this far because other reviewers said this is a great series... and the female lead as well as other supporting cast are watchable. The male lead may be a great actor to make everyone hate him. However, I have no desire to watch any other series/show he made or will make. In fact, I will probably avoid them.

Monette cabib Sep 21 2021 5:45 am Worth to watch! This is one story that all couples should watch and make them realize that being in a relationship is not always in a happy state. It teaches to overcome life's challenges being a couple and a family. Its nice to see again miss ji min and miss jung eun as mother and daughter. They really fit the characters. Also... Mr ji sung and miss ji min makes such a great couple. They have this chemistry in my eyes and i just felt happy watching them. This story also reminded me of my late brother with his 2 friends. They used to be inseparable and sometimes i am with them. I ended up also with my brother's best friend that's why this is very special to me.

Thanks to all the staffs, producers, directors and actors and actresses and all that made this possible.

jean Jul 06 2021 7:01 am I think joo hyuk not cheating , because hye won already sleep with jung hyun soo (college student) before divorced the scene hye won said to ask take far from seoul and morning just come back (scene didnt show it but adult already know what they do) ,i really angry with jung hyun soo character materialistic and playboy didnt care hye won feeling and director still give him likely ending. If from start he playboy and materialistic and want to time travel 100 times he still like that. Joo hyuk and hye won broken because she already fling woth hyun soo. maybe woo jin betray yoon jo hoon but they didnt really comitted because woo jin pity with yoon jo hoon kindness

In Familiar Wife director Lee Sang-Yeob has combined It's A Wonderdful Life with Yesterday to create a mesmerizing account of a man trapped in a marriage with Wu Jin (Han Ji-Min) who has some serious anger management issues. The man Ju Hyuk (Ji Sung) is a married banker with two very young children. His married life is a non-stop cauldron of bitterness which he receives from a bitter harridan of a wife who gives him not a moment of respite. She yells, curses, and lobs pointed objects at him. One day he meets quite by chance a woman Hye-won (Kang Ha-Na) from his past. She is lovely, gracious, and most of all mild tempered. Ju Hyuk fantasizes what life would have been had he married her. At this point the series could have been a straightforward account of a man who leaves one woman for another, but Director Sang-Yeob had an entirely different narrative arc in mind. During the sixteen episode run, he crafts a film that takes both Ju Hyuk and the viewer on a journey that rips apart the comforting veil of ignorance and self-centeredness to light the way to a path of life with various forks, each of which promises one path but leads to another.

One day, Ju Hyuk takes the train to work and hears a homeless man babble about black holes and time displacement. This man hands him a coin dated 2006, which Ju Hyuk accepts. On the way home he comes to a toll both which he does not remember ever being there. He tosses in the coin, and drives through. He finds himself twelve years back in the past 2006 before he marries Wu Jin. He makes sure this time he does not marry her. He goes through the toll both once again and emerges back in 2018. Instead he finds himself married to Hye-Won. At first he is overjoyed. He has the girl of his dreams for a wife and no longer is the target of a crazy woman’s anger.
It is his new life that forces Ju Hyuk to a painful realization. His two children from his previous marriage are gone, never having existed. Hye-Won may not scream at him but she has other equally unpleasant flaws. She has been raised as a vastly rich pampered child who now expects her husband to do exactly as she says when she says. He remembers his life with Wu-Jin and can recall why she became as bitter as she was. Ju Hyuk was insensitive and cosmically ignorant of her needs. During the course of their ten year marriage, his lack of compassion and empathy gradually changed her personality from bright and bubbly to anger and disappointment. Ju Hyuk now can see himself for what he really is, not a purposefully bad man but one who selfish ego destroyed what could have been a viable marriage.
By the midpoint of the series, the dramatic focus of the series shifts from a longing for a future based on a false view of the present to a wish to resurrect the past, this time with a heightened sense of a self-growth of a man who now is determined to right the wrongs of his foolish youth. Ju Hyuk return to the toll both, tosses in another coin from 2006 and returns to his past, with his most recent marriage to Hye-Won erased. This passge from past to present and back to past occurs several times more, each time opening his eyes to the realization that misery in life is not caused by the evil intentions of another, but by the willful ignorance of one’s own self who refuses to take responsibility for his acts. The series initially presents Wu-Jin as the Bitch from Hell but gradually we see that under different circumstances she would have been much more amiable. Hye-Won is also shown to be quite different from her first appearance. She morphs from sweetness and light to one who can coldly calculate how her husband must act if he to remain married. No one in the series is all bad or all good. Those who are happy are so because they recognize the worth of their inner selves.
The supporting cast does a superlative job of recreating the basic theme of self-growth. In particular is the part of Wu Jin’s mother (Lee Jung-Eun) who further nudges the series into the realm of fantasy. She is one of two who seems to possess a carry over memory from the base reality at the start to the altered memory of the recreated present. She suffers from dementia but nevertheless recognizes Ju Hyuk as her son-in-law. Then there is the homeless man who began the series with warnings of time displacement. We find out that he too sought to regain a lost past but wound up as the Lost Dutchman of doom and gloom on a subway. There is a noteworthy scene where Wu-Jin’s mother and the homeless man briefly lock eyes as if in one of recognition. Past, present, and future coalesce in this briefest of scenes.
What emerges by the last episode is the gradual unfolding of the realization that there is no base reality as one might think. Each reality is a self-contained universe wherein one plays out the full range of one’s angsts, hopes, false visions, and hopefully a sense of spiritual regeneration. By the time Famliar Wife takes us to the latest altered reality, we now know that the decision to take the road less traveled by is the same road that demands one pay a toll, not in coin, but in self-recognition. This is a truly magnificent series.

I went back to the good detective where the Yoon character had a more serious role. It seems impossible to raise children when employers make you stay late, eat together etc. how can families have a normal life. It is very sad.

Agreed with some that maybe married couple will find this entertaining but not to others. Loved it nevertheless. I think script-wise, it’s okay and the actors save the drama big time really. Hoping that Han Jimin and Jang Seungjo could become lead next time hahaha really like their chemistry here. and shout out to Jisung, he never disappoints!

Annoyed watcher Dec 27 2020 2:10 am I only started episode 2 and I’m already annoyed. The main guy is so annoying. His wife is always taking care of the kids and on top of that is working and he acts like his life is unfair. He’s sad his wife couldn’t make him breakfast like wtf, why can’t you do it or maybe help with the kids and she’ll make it. Couples shouldn’t have kids unless they’re financially stable or if both parents don’t take responsibility. Reading all these comments make me feel like not watching this show would be better cause I just know that I’m gonna be annoyed by his character the entire time.

David Dec 19 2020 6:54 am I agree with some of the comments. The plot/the writing is just so so. The cast were great though. But there were times I kinda lose the excitement of watching it because the story could be like boring. It is not bad though. And yeah, the male lead's morale or attitude is problematic but he kinda redeemed himself on the end. The story could have been more engaging if it has more in depth plot or more characters or issues. O enjoyed it nevertheless.

People are pressured all the time. Like all the time. Even at work place they have to do & respect & get abused by their seniors. They do a lot of overtime. They won’t be able to survive with just one parent working but ‘working mom’ is something the stay at home moms often gossip about. That’s just sad. This just needs to change.

Too cute! Dec 05 2020 11:00 pm Just finished watching this drama. Why didn’t i watch it earlier?! This is for every married couple. Things can get very ugly if compromising & good communication don’t take place in your marriage. Sometimes we’re pressured and get married & have children bcs of what other people say. It’s not too late to fix your marriage! It takes two to tango - to make it work or to ruin it. I think also Ujin was too hard on herself with all the chores & raising her kids. She didn’t ask for help (not also from people around her) and only yelled of it to her husband. Also her husband should’ve thought about her more and tried to help her as much as possible at home. They only realized this when they were not together. That they should’ve treated each other better.

The drama was beautifully and perfectly executed from ep 1 - ending. The chemistry is over the moon. When I first saw, who’s Jisung paired up with - Han Ji Min! Ok they’re gonna make great chemistry and they did. Love their acting as well.

But, it they have a chance to reset their life...the result will be pretty much the same. They still choose the initial partner. You know,,..no matter how awful a husband and wife life are, they are still keep going due to a commitment they had made. Married is about commitment. Complete each others, fulfill each others. Because nobody is perfect.

I only ever watched American series before but I got tired of the bad rude language, blasphemy and too often smutty scenes, then Netflix showed me Korean series with sweet traditional values, intelligent plots and such tenderness and wisdom & such an interesting culture, now I'm absolutely hooked! Sergio Cervantes Oct 11 2020 9:04 pm This was my favorite K Drama until the 15th Episode. When Wu Jin completely disrespects Joo Hyuk. She meets the Chef and in front of him she lets him hug her. Then they go as Bankers to his restaurant and he tells her in front of Joo Hyuk of how if he talks about her past she could not get married. She laughs about it and says I want to get married so don’t talk about it. How is Joo-Hyuk supposed to feel about this? Then Wu Jin is spending the weekend with Joo Hyuk and the Chef calls supposedly about banking and she spends a half hour on the phone with him. Joo Hyuk gets upset and tells her he is trying to get back with her, they get into a fight And he said something to her but it’s left to our imagination and she runs out. The next Monday Chef then invites everyone from the bank for dinner. Joo Hyuk tells them he isn’t going. Wu Jin gets upset because he doesn’t go to the dinner where the Chef is going to confess his feelings for Wu Jin. A co- worker calls JooHyuk and tells him to get there because he can see how the Chef is acting. Joo-Hyuk runs in and tells everyone that he is dating Wu Jin. In my opinion the writer ruined the whole drama with this part of the plot. If some guy hugs my girlfriend in front of me and she allows it, I would have left her there with him. A little matter of respect for your boyfriend. But what really killed the show is when the Chef made her sound as if she was a total slut and she laughed about it. How many men want to hear that about their girlfriend. Instead of her apologysing he has to run to her. He lost all respectability at that point. The last episode was great with a great ending. But as I stated before episode 15 took her and made her look terrible after her character was changed for the better. Again episode 15 was as necessary as a Screen Door on a Submarine. It would have been my favorite K Drama is it wasn’t for that episode. It seems to me that Korean writers have no idea what respect is. If life is like that in Korea then it’s very sad statement for Korea.

sera filo Apr 29 2020 8:41 am unpopular opinion: I like how the children don't have a major part in the plot. I'd hate it if they decided to be together because of their children. The point is how they can understand and accept each other as a person. If they decided to be together for the sake of their children, it feels like they're compromising. Kinda like how married couples who won't divorce for the sake of their children even when they actually can't bear each other. Joo hyuk and woo jin actually end up together because they learn to understand each other, not because they have to take their children into consideration.

Some may have predicted the way it did, I didn’t. Seriously guys, this drama is amazing. This drama was a hit when it came out, the ratings were pretty good, I mean not Sky Castle good but when this drama was airing, the ratings were high. And I understand why it was high. This idk may be a spoiler or not, but this drama has a happy ending for those who love happy endings. The genre for this drama is romance and fantasy. I have really admired Ji Sung’s acting skills, the projects that he takes are so diverse, from Kill Me, Heal Me to Defendant. If you love heart wrenching but really romantic dramas, this is for you. Trust me people, you will not regret watching this.

JiminLover Dec 28 2018 1:17 pm I love Han Ji Min since Miss Baek and started to watch back all her dramas. I must say, this "back to the future" plot is almost perfect except 1 thing. Ji Min voice is too old even when she backs to her youth. I would want to make it clear, that the plot is about a husband goes back to his fateful day to decide his route of romance then come back to the future day and live with it. There are 3 lives that he has lived. The one that he married his current wife; one he married his first love and the one he choose to be single. The first coin he used to go back and got an accident with a deli guy so it result of a scar he has to live with in the future but everything else stay the same. This is when he know what magical chance he was given. So the second coin is when he really make his decision to choose his first love and left his wife. This is when he lives his second live as a rich husband. The reason why Woo Jin has deja vu from dreaming is because she share the same memory with Woo Jin from first life who married the husband. Her mom is also from the first life of Woo Jin who tried to change the past but fail so she knows everything! Finally, Woo Jin regains all memory from her first life and goes back to the past together with the husband to change his future again. In this 3rd life, the couple love and marry again. So totally, there is only 1 husband but 2 wives, 3 first lover and many different version of friends! Of course their destinies will come the same but the husband NEVER meet his begining scary wife again but he starts again instead. So stop fucking compare this plot with Go Back Couple if you just hardly get it! I watch this bc of Han Ji Min but ended up crushing Kang Hanna expecially I heard she has done some really good nude scene!!!

The thing that bothers me the most is when he traveled to the past and only missed his sons a little and forgets about them for the rest of the series. No wonder the wife became such a loony. As compared to Go Back Couple, this series was a total drag.

J Nov 16 2018 6:37 am as expected plot about 'time' always success to make me immerse in the story. well im quite a logical man whos love to watch drama though there are always a scene in every drama that way to unlogical for me and bother me to immerse in the story and make me stop watched it but this one is different, i can really enjoy it till the end, i dont know why but it feels so real and there are so many life lesson u can get. this is the best drama for me so far. and now i fell in love with han ji min, i mean that smile she has really make me melt. for those who have so many regret in their life this drama really really worth to watch, i mean it!

Small details of the drama were all diamonds. Han Ji Min did a superb acting too! I feel every emotion she displayed. Both main leads were in sync in their performance. Indeed! HJM has the best chemistry with Ji Sung among the actors she worked with. All the actors did an amazing job. The people behind were all awesome. , The cinematography was great. The story was relatable. Kodus to all of you!

Haven't watch the show that some people were talking too loud and don't have any plans to do so. And i don't have the right to booooo someone elses work. Well, people are different anyways. So be it! hehehe...

In that story, they tried to change their lives separately knowing their “history” together. In this one, he is actually married to someone else, everything is erased and she’s single with no one else. How is this a good story? What right does he have to interfere in her life? He doesn’t want her but doesn’t want her to be with anyone else either? She is no better by coming on to a married man since day one. You end up just being disgusted by the couple. She was horrible when they were married because she really couldn’t communicate or control her anger. He was a selfish dummy who took no responsibilty for the relationship. In the new timeline, she’s a homewrecker and he’s still selfish. Booo!! Go back couple is way better! They tried to make the new wife spoiled and selfish but that’s not the point...she’s barely there and so inconsequential. She could have been anyone.

The actors were brilliant especially Seo woo jin and her mom. I was hoping that after ep 14 they would warp back to their initial life as payback for their time travels and had to work out their marriage from there, now that they had learnt their lessons. But, I guess the ending was fine also. And I was hoping they would solve the time travel mystery, the beggar actual identity and how seo woo jin’s mom knew him during the first time travel. Otherwise, really satisfied that I’d followed this series and hopefully there’ll be more like this

Such a brilliant cast + amazing storyline + how the characters develop overtime. If anything involves Ji sung or Han Ji Min, you know you’re definitely in for a good ride. Its not easy for me to cry when it comes to seeing a man crying but Ji sung really made me cry when he kneeled down in from of Ji Min ahhhhhhh. Their chemistry is blowing too I cant believe they top my fav couple Hwang jung eum x ji sung

I found that fictional Joo Hyuk character interesting, sometimes he was a Hero but sometimes an anti-Hero. A non-conventional character, in his troubles and un-wise decisions yet humane to a man (A father, spouse, friend and a boy). The portrayal made by Ji Sung is believable. The cast binds together even though they are from different age groups. The drama is well written in lightness. The family unit is important for the survival of generations.

How on earth ji min is still that pretty, she can play as high school student and still nailed it..

I think this drama is ran out of ideas after ep 14, i know they need to make 16 but it should've ep 14 if the focus of story is better, bcs 2 last eps are just not important and useless filler, I'm more interested in how joo hyuk keep on living after he got fired, instead of running to a beach at night (lol?) and then suddenly woojin got a coin from her mom and passed to the gate, it's too convenient, deus ex machina, absurd flow for me.. oh well, at least ep 15 is funny and that Chef Kang as cameo is unexpected, he's from oh my ghost drama, right? LOL..

As usual Ji Sung takes a narrative and gives both humor and grace that keeps the viewer focused far more intimately than most actors can achieve. His beauty and depth are mesmerizing. And when you hit ep. 8, you know this is special. However, that is the height of the series, and the rest is mostly standard: good not great, especially for Ji Sung.

Han Ji Min is a great actress and Ji Sung as well so there was no doubt that this drama will be a DAEBAK but after watching this I have to say that the scriptwriter is a genius...the action is so unpredictable and the characters does the opposite of everything that I had assumed that they would...but in a good way...so I have soo much fun watching it. I totally love this drama and I wanna see more projects of her( I've already watched Oh my ghost, Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo and High school king but I'm waiting for more ^^) so Yang Hee-Seung-sshi fighting!~~^^

I mean, they both has their own share of accountability of what happened. The wife was a very terrible wife in the previous life and tbh the husband is a relatively a normal kind of husband (i guess). I mean he was definitely not a good husband,but not a bad one. He did not cheat, he treats his wife and kids well. In the other hand, I think the wife is a really terrible wife in the sense that she treats her husband without respect at all and also does not care for the husband at all. Dont get me wrong, i just hate the fact that the husband was portrayed to be in a very big sin, and that what happened to the wife was ALL the husband's fault. It also does not make any sense that the wife was able to get the degree in the new life, while fail in the old life. I mean, come on! That shouldn't be the husband's fault too right? If anything, the husband should be helping for that to happend because he is her tutor, right. Whatever. Haha. I guess I think wayyý too much watching this drama. Lol

Episode 11 had me in tears because I felt of Seo Woo Jin's emotions as if they were my own. The story is not predictable and keeps me guessing. The characters does the opposite of everything that I had assumed that they would be doing including Lee Hye Won. She surprised me in this episode in how she handled herself with that young man and her husband. This is going to go on my list as a Top and Favorite drama. After all what should I expect from a Ji Sung drama but the best. He is my top 3 favorite south korean actors. Whenever i see a Ji Sung drama, I already know that its going to be good regardless of ratings. This man is a genius...Seranghae as a fan. Ji Sung.....I love your Wife's Lee Bo-Young's acting also....Fighting????

Even though there some parts don't really make sense (just my personal opinion), but still the main message of this drama is great. You have to start counting more on your blessings rather than being ungrateful, cause you don't know what you've got until it's gone! Lead actor and actress are great. They have a great chemistry in this drama.

Yes they are both cheating on their current partners but i feel only the minority of us that sees that truly the writer main concept is showing true, fated love. The one person that is meant for you. Soulmate? No matter how much he tried to change his fate, one thing seems to not change and never will, Woojin’s deep rooted feelings for Joo Hyuk :’) I love this drama so much.

The emotions portrayed, the expressions, the ost (Roy Kim sang one of the osts so thats already a plus point!) everything about it is good. I love all of the casts, even the security guard. Great drama like this is hard to come by, I feel I have to wait a whole season to pass then there’s finally one that suits me.

I love jisung being submissive husband from woojin to hyewon. (Did you noticed that)

This drama is portraying about how two people fell and fall out of love because of situations.. And how desperate of the other party to get out of it.. Divorce? !!!

Because most of the time couple got divorced because both are not happy anymore or the other side..

But what lessons should we get from this drama.. Hope you get it.. For me this is one of the most sensible drama of the year... Not because jisung is my fav actor but because of the realistic truth about marriage..

It's not as good as Go Back Couple, but I like that it's different and Ji Sung is great as always! Looking forward to seeing how the plot develops over time!

Starting from its casts to the plot and storyline, I love how relatable this drama is to our reality. It feels us viewers can definitely relate to it be it we are married currently or not. We all make stupid decisions in life thinking its really the best for us. Sometimes, we fail to see the gem thats already in front of us. The grass too isnt always greener on the other side. This drama makes me emotional, just like how Because this is my first life did to me previously. It felt so real, like I know its definitely happening outside to someone...... And I love drama thats realistic.

I hope everyone gives this a watch. Despite the good ratings it gets in Korea, I know this doesnt get hype much internationally (it seems like most of my friends love the cheesy, corny and typical romantic comedy lol) Thank you casts & writer-nims for filling up my Wed&Thurs <3

jengjangul Aug 24 2018 9:12 am Kudos to Familiar Wife and its cast for reviving my faith in kdramas. I’m not one that watch cliche, straight to the point, you-can-predict-what-happens-next romance. A rich guy with a normal girl etc lol. In the recent episode, I’d thought we’d see more of Joo Hyuk dwelling over the past and his mistake but nope he didnt. In fact he did something I didnt expect him to do. Like trying his best to get over Woo Jin........ This drama portrays the reality thats happening right now, about marriage and life.

I love when a drama got me pausing them for a minute, talking to myself and just keeps on thinking of what-ifs. Its an hour long drama but it turned out I took at least an hour half to finish because I kept on pausing and rewinding. If you love the kind of drama that is relatable because its happening outside in the real world, I suggest you give this a watch. Its definitely worth it.

Just knowing Han Jimin & Jisung themselves is the main lead, I already knew I’m in for a good ride. So far this is the best (considering the first half of 2018 kdrama was not IT for me) I love dramas like these. The vibes, filmography. TVN never fails to air drama that is always my favs <3

From this drama, i guess its true, no matter how hard you try to change your fate, how far you run away from each other, if you’re meant to be, someway and somehow the universe will bring you back together if you’re fated for each other. I wish they would let us see the “better” version of Joo Hyuk and Woo Jin. I would love to see how they solve things after they get back together. Communication is key. Love itself is not enough for a marriage. Woo jin loved Joo Hyuk so much but their marriage was a disaster bcos they fail to communicate with one another. 100/100 reccomended!

And he has caused so much loss for other people around him.

suh Aug 17 2018 8:33 am Can we just applaud Han Ji Min for delivering her part so naturally? Every facial expression and the way she delivers her line is soo on point. I felt like I am the one who falls in love with her in this drama. Not forgetting Ji Sung as well..such a perfect pair!

I really, really love the idea of the whys and the what ifs. It doesnt make sense at first but I know in reality, so many of us have wished that things could've gone different ways. And the few episodes of the drama is exploring those with sweet, harsh and sad details.

Joo Hyuk had been wishing that he could've lead his life differently if given the chance to go back time. To getting married to different girl. And to be treated differently as well. But along the way, when he travels back and lead a different life, he discovers the reason behind his wife's tantrum and frustration, how she was before marriage and so on. The part that really saddened me was during episode 5 where his mother in law gave his the kimchi and the flashback that he had. It breaks me to see him silently weeping. I admit that I'm a sucker when it comes to family and a loving mother. And when he secretly wished how he should have listened to his wife at that time.

This easily makes it to one of my most favourite drama ( i know this is exaggerating but its true) of all time.

sha Aug 16 2018 10:02 pm It was kinda sad seeing the part where he didn't comfort Woojin. Joohyuk was incredibly selfish and I am glad he finally realised that. So now, if Joohyuk tries to change his past again, he must do everything right in order to get his old life back. But I feel like he will do something wrong and something will also be different once he gets back to the future again. Ahh this drama is so good 100/100 recommended!!

They both have their own selfish ways. and i think both have just lost the spark which is common to couples who fall Out of love.can't blame him though. And it wold be impossible if theyll Back in each other's arms in the end. what he choose is unforgiving no matter how wrong Seo woo join was.

She sent him out in the rain, thats too mean.They should have had just one baby if they knew they were facing challenges. If she had been good to him he wouldn't regret marrying her and he wouldn't wish he had married kang ha na even if he had a crush on her.

Seo Woo Jin is a reflection of a woman who have lost her grace and charm maybe because of her uncaring husband, the struggling time she has for herself, for her children, for her mother, and her work. many people especially women can relate to this genre. Some are fortunate maybe because they know how to balance their life and the financial status is a plus. But many are not i see many of them are struggling wanting to go back in time 'only if'.

Jessie Aug 03 2018 4:38 am @Aj, the flashback from high school is just a couple of minutes....the story revolves on the present day. how the two live without each others company. the twist has already just begun. don't easily judge on just a few things you've seen or heard. and to everyone who love this drama....congratulations! they just made it to the top. i am full of excitement since the two leads accepted the drama and a big bonus though that Koreans choose dramas that evolves around ordinary people.

It’s been done to death as recently as just last year in Go Back Couple. And this one begins with a boring, tedious first episode. Ugh. I’ll pass on the rest, which I have never done with Ji Sung before.

It's not usual to watch this kind of drama and one big ball of casts all in one project. I salute they all deliver their lines incredibly.

Which also reminds me of similar situation happened with 2 dramas back in 2015 ... namely Kill Me, Heal Me and Hyde,Jekyll, Me where both dramas used similar plot; male lead with dissociative identity disorder.

Coincidentally, KMHM was starred by Ji Sung while HJM was starred by Han Ji Min. Talk about fate.

I'm not sure how this drama will fare in the end, but I'm giving it 3 more episodes before deciding to continue watching it.

So admittedly I am watching 91% for Ji Sung, 5% for tvN, and 3% for Han Ji Min, but the extra 1% magic factors of a solid writer-director duo that hopefully will get along well and sprinkle of glitter in the form of a sweet sounding story right up tvN's alley as far as what they make beautifully...I am already giddy! (I just wish Propitious Site for Grave was somewhere with solid subtitles to view in the meantime because god no I can not go back and relive Defendant yet if ever since his agonizing screams are still in my head!!!)
