Plot

Boo Yong-Joo (Han Suk-Kyu) calls himself Dr. Romantic and is called Teacher Kim. He is a weird doctor who does not want to socialize with others. Boo Yong-Joo runs the shabby clinic Doldam.

Cha Eun-Jae (Lee Sung-Kyung) is a 2nd year fellow for surgery. She is smart and confident. She has never experienced discouragement or failure.

Seo Woo-Jin (Ahn Hyo-Seop) is a 2nd year fellow for surgery. He has excellent skills for surgery. His personality is cynical. Because he went through a tough life, he does not believe in happiness.

Cha Eun-Jae and Seo Woo-Jin meet the unusual doctor Teacher Kim. They grow as humans and doctors with their experience with Teacher Kim.

S1 SUPERIOR Mar 22 2023 2:11 am I've watched S2 before this, but without S1. I thought it was very good at that time.

But now, I decided to watch S1 and then S2 to refresh again before S3 come out.

Guess what, i really didn't enjoy S2 at all! I am feeling regretful not watching S1 before this. S1 is That Good! and S2 doesn't give me that satisfaction at all.

The Geodae team in S2 also is not that good and very annoying. Doesn't have the moral of a doctor at all. In S1 the Geodae team even if they hate Kim Sabu they still help with the ER and know how to help patient. But S2 Geodae team is just a full of doctor only by title.

What I enjoy S1 is because both team even if they enemy, they help patient. But S2 just whatever.

Disappointed Dec 29 2022 3:35 am I prefer ss1 more than ss2. First, Han Suk-Kyu, he's always the best throughout the whole drama!! Although I'm a big fan of Ahn Hyo Seop but the chemistry between the Dr. Seo and Dr. Cha is very boring. The character, Dr. Cha, really annoys me when she just tried to make excuses for her mistakes and got herself (and others) in trouble. Understand that her character will grow-up in later episodes, but I just don't like the way it portrays. And also Dr. Yang, he succeeded in making my blood pressure rises whenever the character's on screen.

The plot is definitely the Main reason why I prefer ss1 to ss2. Every story needs a villain(s), however, they made it too dramatic that it becomes tiring to watch them find ways to take Teacher Kim down (and make more money, of course) instead of the conflicts rooted from patients, which was done really well in ss1. If they gonna make a ss3, I hope that they could focus more on patients and medical/ethical issues than money or some useless dramatic scenes.

Han suk hyu never disappoints and Ahn hyo seop's performance is simply awesome in this drama, unlike in business proposal where his character didn't allow much room to showcase his acting talent.

i wish the 3rd season to be the cast of first and 2nd but i doubt it. i am not even sure if Minjae will reprice his role. it will be more interesting if do in beom is in the 3rd installment, it will be intriguing if he will protect doldam and Dr. Kim against his father

Shelly Nov 13 2021 12:20 am Love the sequel, brilliant as it really follows on from the first. Han Suk Kyu so talented and amazing. Ahh Hyo Deop Paul did a good job although so young. Well acted. Many great actors, President Park, versatile as saw him in a different role in IOKTNBOK. Lee Sung Kyung acted well and is lovely. Shame they didn’t bring her back from the main hospital in the last minutes. They could have had a kiss for the finale. Very well done - I love it and it goes into my top list. Room for a season 3 - but should get Kim Sabe to do one more genius world changing operation.

A Nov 10 2021 8:46 pm There's no need to compare season 1 and season 2 because they are both legend. I watched season 1 from october 24-28 last month. I watched season 2 this week november 7-11. I'm nursing student and it is very helpful to my knowledge. I hope they are all in season 3.

At first, i don't really like the first episodes in season 1 but later on i realize that i'm addicted to it. In season 2, i'm a little bit sad because of the changes of the casts but i really love the story, the lesson, and the skills.

Thanks to my grandma for recommending this to me. We are both nurses.

Jojoanna Oct 18 2021 3:03 pm just watched Doctor Romantic 2 and on Ep 5...I want to kick out 2nd year intern Cha Eun-Jae. She is selective who to treat and is not worthy of wearing the White Gown. Could not handle her drooling over Dr Bae. And despite being kicked out to Doldam Hospital she won't admit to being an addict in taking alprazolam. Imaging falling dozing off during surgery...she could have killed a patient. And for that she is just sent over to Doldam Hospital...that is called "too lenient" as people life at at stack in her hands.

Nurse Park Eun-Tak is double wow...Steady Indeed and Nurse Oh...she is fantastic...need her to wake Cha Eun-Jae to senses.

Now on Ep 05 and gonna see what Dr Park Min-Guk now President of Doldam Hospital going to do sitting in that President Chair. Another one who got by after making a mistake.

Is Doldam Hospital a "mistake station" for those making mistake at main hospital to be sent there...

But i like even more the season 2 ❤ At first I had doubt in season 2 because I am big fan of romantic doctor season 1 and I didn't feel the lead actors (except master kim). I am not that fan with lee sung kyung , I have crush on ahn hyo seop but my opinion for him, his acting needs of improvement a little. However, it turs out season 2 is way better than season 1. All the cast did a great job. I was just happy that there were more actors in season 1 who are also in season 2.

VB May 24 2021 1:32 am I prefer the 2nd one. Both were exceptional except the 1st one's romance between Dr's Kang and Dr Yoon spoiled parts of the show. It dragged on. Their individual stories were great until they came together. I preferred the second couple. Really, it's not necessary to have a romance in a medical drama. There are so many other interesting things happening. Dr Kim is everyone's dream leader, Dr and friend, and my fave character. Nurse Oh, Manager Jang and Dr Nam were all fantastic. I love their work and personal relationships with each other. The writers did a tremendous job on both shows. I hope there is a season 3. It was always moving along which kept me glued to the screen. I've seen both shows 3 times. I've cried every time.Dr Romantic makes you fall in love with the cast. The moral of these dramas always reminds me that no matter how challenging life is, be positive and persevere. I will most likely watch it again.

H May 16 2021 10:12 am A bit melodramatic compared to the more grounded first season, but still very good, anchored by Han Suk-Kyu's excellent performance as Master Kim.

As in the original season, the strong points are the relationships between the doctors, and the various interesting episodic patients and dilemmas (both medical and ethical) they bring to the story.

The weak point is the cartoonishly evil villains, from the profit-seeking executive trying to destroy the whole hospital to the gangster loan-sharks harassing one of the new doctors. It's difficult to take these parts of the plot seriously, and they feel like waste of time compared to the genuine and nuanced conflicts that tend to stem from the patients.

As in the first season, I also felt the romance was entirely unnecessary and detracted from the plot somewhat, but minor enough not to be a big problem and I thought the chemistry and whatnot was fine (I'm just not a romance fan).

Like many others, I would be thrilled to see a Season 3, but I hope if they go for it they let the "villains" go and let natural hospital conflicts drive the plot, as there are more than enough of those inherently.

coffeeluvsmilo Apr 11 2021 6:23 am I watched Season 2 right after Season 1. I love Season 1, it's good, but after season 2, I can say I like it better than Season 1. I don't know, it's just for me. The characters, the storyline and in Season 2 there's more narration than Season 1 which adds the poetic part of the drama. Hmm, out of all the characters in Dr. Romantic, including the characters from S1, Dr. Seo Woo Jin is my favorite. His character development is soooo wow. And he is very lovable. Sometimes there are few eps that I find it hard to love Dr. Kang Dong-ju although I completely understand him hahaha.

kpopandgrime Dec 28 2020 9:21 pm I fully enjoyed this series as a whole and its a must watch if you love kdramas like I do. but I will say that Season 1 (S1) is miles better than season 2 (S2) for me personally. I watched both seasons back to back and S2 just started really slowly as the ratings show and then it got better like after episode 8. those first few episodes were so frasturating like damnnn; both leads roles were like headless chicken who didnt know what to do. LOOOOL

By the way I'm not hating loved the series, both leads of S2 are the future stars of kdramas but just their roles didnt make sense; as someone said before it was like the hospital was full of thugs and not doctors.

I think having watched season 1 first will make season 2, 10x better. And that is from my experience. I too was that person who wanted to jump to s2 right away because I love LSK and AHS.

I have no words, but a great, big wow. S1 wasn't perfect but still I loved it so much for Kim Sabu's character. It's like having your 1st child and loving that baby so much, and then having a 2nd child, you never thought your heart could grow so much bigger and having so so much more love because now, you have 2. That's such a weird reference, I know. LMAO. But that's exactly how I felt. I think you'll experience S2 in a whole different way, and in a much much more beautiful way if you have watched S1.

I would say S1 is like and 8.5 for me, and S2 was a solid 10. I have never been so satisfied with an ending. The groundwork for S3 has already been laid. I'm really hoping for a S3 with all the main characters together. Just Imagine The Dynamics! I hope they do it!!! This series deserves so much love! It's so freakin good!!!

AHS character is lovable, she is remarkable, LSK and AHS tandem works well to bring out the youth appeal, together with So Ju Yeon, (she is really cute) and Park Eun Tak But it is Han Suk-Kyu who is the scene-stealer ; his eyes, his smiles, the way he talks, weeps and yells. Been on the lookout for his dramas since The TWDR. Both seasons of Dr. Romantic are highly recommendable dramas. Waiting for a season 3 and hope it will be real soon.

Chu May 18 2020 6:22 am I watched this drama right after I watched Dr Romantic 1. Both of them are really good. After finishing this drama, I watched Still 17. And then I re-watch the scenes between Seo Woo Jin and Do In Beom. I laughed when DIB said, "You Look familiar" to SWJ, because they were uncle and nephew in Still 17. (SPOILER) What I really love about this season is Park Eun Tak finally got a girl. I really love his character and I like it that he got a happy ending. They are such a sweet couple. I hope they will make Season 3 and combining the casts of season 1 and 2. I'd like to see Seo Woo Jin meeting Kang Dong Joo, since he already met Do In Beom. And I want to see the CSs (Cha Eun Jae and Yoon Seo Jung) work together. I love how it showed that Dr Kim's students all turned out to be great doctors with good personalities..

Luna May 16 2020 10:51 am I’ve always loved Dr Romantic Season 1 and season 2 did not disappoint but LMAO Season 2 characters are all eavesdroppers LMAOOOOO. I just knew and anticipate in some scenes that there would be eavesdroppers in most of the conversations. It is so funny if you think about it in Hospital settings. Anyways, I think the build up of the romance is so disappointing in this season compared to season1. Eunjae and woojin has so much chemistry that it was such a waste that their romance was only seen in a few scenes in the last episode.

Anyways I am hoping they still continue this series. Please don't let us wait for 4 years again LOL. Han Suk kyu is such a believable doctor.

I watched both series and wow both are so good!!!! The casts are amazing and i'll have a hard time moving on. And other than all the ships, i actually rooting for Park Min Guk since the beginning. Everything in this drama feels so real, the acting are remarkable and the actors are outstanding! From season 1 to season 2, I have been so in love with this drama. One important thing i could probably say is that this drama made me realized how being a doctor who choose his patient first before anything else is really important. This drama did not fail to consider the challenges a doctor or any healthcare workers experienced inside the institution, it did not sugar coat how health care worker must have felt during those challenging times too (although there's drama all over the scene), and the most challenging part above all is about the high authorities who fail or even choose to neglect the unvarnished situation of the healthcare system and tends to cover up ethical and professional issues. I just want to say a big thumbs up for this drama! Hoping for 3rd season! Wish you all the best!

And here I thought first, it was Romantic Doctor since 2016 because I'd just borrowed my bestfriend's OTG to watch Crash Landing On you but when I open it cause I want to see it again, my god my reaction when it wasn't Dr. Kang Dong Joo and Dr. Yeon Seo Jung. And I conclude it was a SEQUEL because I am not updated though. I am on episode 15. And Dr. Woo Jin and Dr. Eun Jae had are so cute together. And S2 was focus on the patients sake not on the love story of the lead role at all. But then Master Kim is the best for me. He was so cool and that he was so called romantic. Hope that not just Dr. In Beom is present here, the last episode I saw he was in Doldam Hospital; and I hope Dr. Dong Joo and Seo Jung also.

It's as if the actors are really working as doctors in real life .. I like the Season 2 because they are focusing more on the patient cases and surgery procedures rather than the mind writhing situation and politics of the hospital. Yes, the love story in this season isn't as intense as the first one, but trust me IRL the lovestory in this field is really like the 2nd season ? (Plus I cried a lot in this season ?) Really like that every character in this season has each different story that they shared. Please, director and writer, make season 3 possible with season 1 casts too :((((

I timed it right so after I finished season 1 I could continue season 2 and not have to wait too long for the ending. For those not knowing what happened to previous cast, they told the story in early episode and they get a few mentions over some later episodes too. Storyline may feel abit heavy and slow but everything gets perfectly unraveled in the end. Love this. Production is great, casts are amazing. Just the right amount of emotion & awesome cast chemistry. *Chef's kiss*

If there's a chance for a season three then I look forward to it. Otherwise I believe this has sated me enough to last another three years ?

Lee Nam Soo Feb 21 2020 5:21 am Season 2, Ep. 14 was probably one of the best DRTK episodes of both seasons. I loved the parallels between Dr. Kim saving Director Yeo and Min Gook saving the chaebol. The emotions were at it’s peak. a perfect viewing experience. I also understood Eun Tak’s resolve (because i am a licensed nurse as well) of being an advocate of a patient’s wish or saving someone you are close with, these are things that this series kept showing as one of their themes is it by being deontological or not, in medical care there are boundaries that are not often crossed, if crossed there will be either a good or a bad consequence and it’s up to you how will you take responsibility for it.

Anyways, this episode was superb. looking forward for the last 2.

But so far season 2 is looking fairly promising - with 90% of the original cast and some great new side characters. The story seems to take on the same nature as the last season, where President Do is out to get Doldam Hospital, and two doctors from Geodae Hospital have moved out to this countryside hospital, both with their own dark pasts. Also like the last season, they knew each other before coming to Doldam and are working through their difficulties together.

As much as I love Lee Sungkyung and Ahn Hyoseop, their characters don't seem as distinct or 'doctor-like' as the last season especially as they both appear quite young, but before making any assuptions I will continue to watch with an open mind and see where the drama takes us.

Park min gook is somehow coward too, but i can see his character development. but not for Dr Yang. i hope on the next next episode he will be on Dr Kim’s side.. slowly being a warm person fight over president

AND my fav couple. Kim min jae and So ju yeon.. i love the way Euntak confess to Ah Reum because he doesn’t want to be late anymore on confessing due to crushing Woo Yeo Hwa on season 1. i found it sweet and very straight forward. can’t wait for their kissing scene at least one pleaseee... be real pleasee...

Last but not least, all the side character such as Nurse Oh, Dr Jung, Dr Nam, Mr Jang, Mr Gu, Nurse Joo, Nurse Uhm. i love their character.. they are the scene stealer. thumbs up!

Also can I just say that we're at episode 7 already and there is no relationship building between Dr Seo and Dr Cha, again comparing to the first season where there was so much chemistry.

Most of the characters in season 1 had large ego problems but ALL the characters in season 2 have masssivvveeee ego problems but it's still about character development and their journey as doctors. Of course, the massive ego problems cause season 2 to be wayyy moree frustrating.

Remember, this drama is written in situational style, where every episode have its own subplots which contributes to the enjoyment of the story. This is probably advantageous because drama can be extended indefinitely without letting us feel that the story is dragging. So, concluding that one is better than the other is purely not necessary because its writing style has the advantage to create a new chapter of story that is familiar yet feels different.

If you’re a huge kdrama fan Well you will understand why we are raving the first season coz it is insanely good the story the plot, casts no boring episodes (swear) you will never regret watching the first season. I understand why some ppl prefer to jump to the second season bcs of the leads (LSK, AHS) some were judging the first season coz they think The first casts were not so popular compare to the present (Non Kdrama fans) but as an Avid Viewer and as an avid fan of Kdramas we rarely judge the leads. we based our Feels on the story and plot “we don’t judge the Story by its leads”.

But don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong if you really want to watch the second season alone. it’s your choice but please if you are having second thoughts in the first season please don’t be— it will worth your precious time and I swear you’ll gonna love it as much as I did”

Tip: You really need to watch the first season It tackles about the history Of the Hospital (Doldam Hospital) and also you will meet the Orig casts and worst if you watched the second season already I swear you will crave the First season so i recommend you to finish the first season first before proceeding to its second season Waaaaaaaaa ??

He's just a jealous scaredy-cat acting like a tough guy. It will be interesting to see his character development as well as the other young doctors.

With the existence of House MD, Code Black, ER, Scrubs etc. Grey's may be amongst the worst medical show in terms of it being "medicine" related. The most accurate ones in terms of medical detailing are House MD and Code Black, whereas ER, Scrubs portray the life of a doctor realistically.

From Abyss to Dr Romantic 2, his acting skills has improved so much and I am quite impressed and very happy. In Abyss, he was an innocent and charming person and here it's totally opposite character. I am eagerly waiting for upcoming episodes of this drama. Another favourite person I have found in this drama is Kim min jae. He is so cute and innocent looking guy. Irene Jan 16 2020 10:03 am Well, so far this drama is more relatable to me than other drama. It is quite impressive where they showed how practical exam is conducted in medical school. And the romance!! Even every person has different experience, med stud usually have similar thing that happens between dr. Seo and dr. Cha. About dr. Cha's background entering medical school and her personalities also hit me hard. In med school, you can find various backgrounds and without exception, dr. Cha's reason is one of them. You also can find an ambitious and skilled person (and acknowledge it better than anyone, ofc) just like dr. Cha's personality. I really appreciate the writer of this drama to point this out. LSK also has done a great job in her acting. How she makes the character looks smart but also annoying at the same time, but kind-hearted person also relatable irl. Can't wait for the next episode

In this season, so far, I've enjoyed the storyline.

The new characters for Doldam Hospital include Seo Woo jin, Cha Eun Jae and Yoon a-reum. I've enjoyed their introduction and the fast pace storylines in the series.

Seo Woo jin - has some positive characteristics in that he's a talented surgeon and appears to care about the saving the patient, but seems to put up a front that he is uncaring. Also there are flashbacks and comments made that make me curious to learn more of his past. One of his cons though is he seems to care more about Cha Eun Jae fainting/sleeping than the patients in major surgery right in front of him. Not the most redeeming quality to have as a doctor who is treating you.

Cha Eun Jae - the characterization of this doctor is at the extreme. I found her extremely selfish in that she cares more about being in the operating room and being successful despite the danger she poses to the patients she has in front of her. One slip of the knife can cause fatality and despite her several failures in the OR, she does not appear to have any regret for how she treated the patients and how she is a liability. Whether or not she overcomes this through exposure later on in the series, she poses such potential harm to the patients, I'd prefer that she not be anywhere in the OR and she should perhaps reconsider a position more suitable for her, then maybe I can start to enjoy some aspects of her character that they want you too. Unfortunately she is such a terrible surgeon who is insistent that she needs to be in the OR and does not care about her patients enough that I cringe when she's on. You fall asleep and run out of the OR and yet get mad when you're kicked out of the OR in the future....???

Yoon A-reum is my favorite new character. She is very upfront and curious and always paying attention to her surroundings. Also she appears capable, but hasn't had much screen time to show her effectiveness in the ER.

Hopefully, Cha Eun Jae realizes she should go into a different field in the medical world as she is very knowledgeable.

CKW Jan 15 2020 10:52 am Loving it so far, but I cannot stand Kim Min Guk and his minions at all. There's enough douchery with Do Yoon Wan around why the heck did they feel the need to add more douchebags into the mix. Makes me wanna slap the shit out of them every time I see them.

I also question their need to write such a weak female lead compared to Yoon Seo Jung from S1. While Seo Jung herself had plenty of weak moments, especially her creepily cult worshipper attitude towards Kim Sabu, Cha Eunjae is a much worse offender. She's incompetent as heck but keeps mouthing off as if she's the best. I hate characters like her.

asdsad Jan 15 2020 9:51 am The main characters similar to season 1, the female protagonist suffer from mental issue (PTSD, Anxiety) while the man character is the best doctor and always following the female character (dong joo following seo jung to work in doldam, while woo jin following eun jae to become a doctor) and dont forget they add a unique orthopedist (somehow i feel moon jung will play a key role since season 1 dont have any orthopedist) But overall, this is the best drama, worth to wait

From the ep 1 it make my heart flutter cause of the romance scene but also the medical I love it. Im medical genre lover and I put hope that this will be great as people say about season 1 too. Ahn Hyo Seop acting has become more great for me. And Lee Sung Kyung I love her acting, her expression is something i cannot resist Lol. And master Kim, he can be scary but also caring at the same time.So far I love the main cast all of them. I recommend it!

Dr. Kim's character was always guided by some principle, which is why the fellow doctors were drawn to learn from him. I imagine season 2 will bring out the same hard work principle and draw the audience to rooting for Dr. Kim and his crew!

kwon yeon rin Jan 07 2020 3:45 pm @Czennies I suggest you watch season 1 because we don’t know how the story of season 2 will unfold there’s a chance that some scenes will be related to stories from season 1 it’s not completely unrelated for example just like how president do is now the chairman of foundation and the staff of doldam hospital are worried about it, so unless you watched season 1 you’ll be consfused as to why they are worried about him being the chairman.

LKB Sep 22 2019 5:47 pm It feels a little weird to have LSK (who I really like, to be clear) in this after Doctors (which was pretty lame despite mostly good talent-just a generic romcom with loads of jealousy set in a hospital and partially a school, bleh)... Last season had a particular young second lead male/romantic figure I wasn't thrilled about but it still proved to be excellent, one of my favorite shows ever thanks to Han Suk Kyu and the writing (the lead actress I also love in it)... Ahn Hyo Seop can do it IF they can balance his height out since being 187cm (6'1") DOES make it a bit challenging. That said, 6'1", 5'10" for Han Suk Kyu (only 3" difference), and 5'9" for Lee Sung Kyung... I think it'll work. I really would love the nurses to come back, but it only makes sense if the setting is at all similar-it says a shabby clinic, but I think that might be a bit off. It needs to be a hospital for him to meet and teach surgery fellows lol.

Not sure what the purpose of having S1 folks back beyond Han Suk Kyu; he's a teacher and they have finished their fellowships and are on the path to full time surgeries as lead surgeons, not assistants, etc. It wouldn't make sense beyond a cameo I would love to see. I do want the nurses back, though, at least the lovely female! Can't imagine Min Jae doing anything minor anymore. Yang Se Jong was in S1, too, but he's boomed to the top of the charts, so to speak, in skill, demand for him, and roles offered and taken. Gotta fit the staff with the jobs! The writer and HSK were really what made it magical. He can work with ANYone and make chemistry with inert chemicals, I swear. He's fabulous. Watcher was another testimony to that-definitely not a normal cast set up or story and you could never totally tell his intentions and story til the end, he's that good.

I like Ahn Hyo Seop but i want to see Yoo yeon or Yang se jong again or they can cast Chang Ki Young in this drama. He will be suited so much in a Doctor Role.

What i most like about Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim is the hospital set up is not huge but in a country side. I hope they will have some continuation from First part.
