kdrama lover Sep 11 2023 10:06 pm It was pretty interesting since the end of first episode where Seo A-Ri supposed to be dead, then i was thinking "how did she die? how could she survive?". But until the end of the episode it didn't tell how A-Ri survived. And yes i agree, there are a lot of plot holes here. I don't think A-Ri's mom is necessary to be in jail. Like what is it for? They didn't tell how and why she got into prison, then suddenly she's released. Also there is A-Ri's best friend suddenly help A-Ri with the disappearance-plan when the last scene of them was when they fight. The ending seems to be in a hurry eventhough they could make it to 16 eps and 1 hour per ep.

They have a good start, good point of story, good mystery (but didn't end well), but all could have been better.

The plot is good and unique, and I believe it's relevant (especially in today's generation). The cast nailed their roles but there are those which failed to reach my standard.

Anyways, just watch and satisfy your eyes with Kang Min Hyuk's visuals.

cie Jul 23 2023 2:09 am I like this series, I like the how they portrayed the storylines with mixtures of past and present. The only downside I've noticed was the storyline is already common as well as the mystery theme of it, there's nothing unique about it,but thanks to the editing and for choosing an influencers theme as the characters,it feels unique. But I must say kudos to the actor's acting, they we're great even though the characters are like has an immature thinking which also makes them unique lmao.

Also, why Korean dramas always leave so many plot holes, they don't make any sense lmao hahah.

Oldschool Jul 20 2023 6:59 pm I have a suggestion for makers of this show if someone can relay it to them that make a spon off of this show or a similar show with different cast ( have no issue with this cast but i am asking for a different show), and this time make it more dark, not gruesome with blood shedding and stuff like many netflix shows do, but just darker in theme with more thrilling plot but based on same topic. This was a good show and it woukd be great if it is redone again in a new package. For cast i will suggest taec and ahn yujin from ive.

Yes why ari's mom got imprisoned for tax evasion just because someone reported her and then suddenly got released too this plotpoint was so shallow and half written

There were a few plot holes which I feel they could’ve spent time to show instead of focusing so much time on other useless stuff (the lawyer). Also how did Ari survive after crashing her car into the water?

Overall very entertaining and scandalous.

1. It started really great. PGY fits Seo A-Ri perfectly! It's as if PGY is made to be Seo A-Ri. 2. A-Ri and Jun-Kyung would go down in Kdrama history as one of the Hottest couples that could ever exist. I had no expectations with chemistry when I started watching, but I was left mesmerized by these two characters' undeniably Very strong chemistry (And things like these happen when the drama isn't exactly romance) 3. The morale lesson of this drama is as clear as water. Very timely. Very relatable. Just like what everyone should know these days about social media and its effects to people's mental health. I commend the writer/s' bravery on presenting such topic.

NOT-so-good things:

1. I expected the friend to be A-Ri's hater. I honestly expected her to be bbbfamous. When she turned out to be just one of the trolls, I was confused. I was looking intently and disappointed to find out that the villain is actually someone who is an "unessential" character, someone who never appeared on previous episodes and was never highlighted until the last episode. I was so confused where the story was going when a new character was suddenly introduced in the last episode. The writer/s might want to emphasize how celebs' lives affect those normal ordinary people they never know of and vice versa, but it could have been written better. (She's pretty and good, though. I could sense she'll be given more projects in the future) 2. This could have been made better, really. This drama started with great potential, a potential that keeps on fading as you went on watching more episodes. It started strong until it slowly became cliche and weak. The story and character development are quite messy. As what other people here say, "it's all over the place". Sadly, it's true. It is indeed all over the place. The direction isn't clear and A-Ri's "planned disappearance" to get bbbfamous is just so eeeeeekkkkkkkk! That made it sound like a child's play. Literally, a child's play. The only thing that made me watch until the end is the fact that I want to know why this is one of Netflix' top 10 for weeks now. I was left quite disappointed (not totally disappointed because I was pacified by the powerful chemistry of A-Ri and Jun-Kyung)

Overall, it's a 7/10 for me.

P.S. I am not writing this to hurt people (as I learned from this drama that it really is not good to be posting hate comments online about strangers). I am simply writing a review, a constructive criticism at that.

Ellie Jul 14 2023 11:36 pm The great acting in my view is by Kang Min Hyun, Lee Don Gun and Lee Ching Ah - outstanding. At-ri was good, saw her in IOKNTBOK where she was outshone by Yea Si Ji. There were other good older actors, but the younger Instagram group were weak and the Chinese girl like a stick on platforms.

But I disagree about the weak plot. Although it was a single level plot, it was a salient lesson we all have to learn about the dark side of social media influencers and the threat they pose to success by merit. It shone a light on the cruelty, lies, shallowness and snobbishness all over social media. It’s corrupt and dangerous, and devoid of any moral ethics. I congratulate Netflix for trying to highlight IG for what it is and influencers for the narcissistic money driven people they are. TIK TOK wasn’t named, but falls into the same category. Good job Netflix.

Yana Jul 14 2023 8:26 pm To Fint Zero. You're right, my expectation was wrong because when I read the plot, it did not suggest anything about being a mystery drama. That's why the last minutes of the first episode felt kinda off. It's like putting two different themes together and they do not blend well or wasn't blended well. I have watched more than a hundred korean dramas and I dont like it when the drama does not hit the right notes if you know what I mean.

How did I know the point of the story without watching the entire drama? Simple. I read episode recaps instead of watching the whole thing.

Don't get me wrong, that's not the only reason why I'm thinking of dropping the drama. It's mainly because of the poor writing and bad pacing. I can watch mystery dramas only when it is done right.

Yana Jul 14 2023 3:29 am This is an example of a drama with a good plot and interesting topic but fails to execute it properly. I'm still in the second episode and I have noticed a lot of flaws already. As the story revolves around social media and influencers, I expected to be quirky, fun, and comedic, but few minutes after going through the first ep, I realized that would not be the case. The tone of the drama is dark and bland, there seemed to be no happy or funny moments to balance the dark mood because again, the story is about social media and celebrities.

The issues being thrown here about the world of celebs is relatable to most of us and shouldn't be too hard to explore and discuss, right? But at the end of the first episode it was revealed that the female lead was supposed to be dead which meant somebody wanted her dead and therefore attempted to commit the crime of murder. That ending somehow gave me the impression that the story was going to the direction of murder, mystery, or detective drama. Then second episode came, they were discussing how the female lead was still alive. It sounded really like a detective, mystery drama to me. The drama tries to involve the element of crime, but it does it in a way that messes up the whole point of the story.

The writing is dull and boring, the pacing is inconsistent and weird, and the cinematography is terrible. I dont think I can finish this. Not even Min hyuk can save this show.

Few things now that i watched the show.

1) kdramas should stop showing suicide so casually. I felt angry with operations director because he was actually irresponsible the way he was going too aggressive with production. He was in industry for so long but acted reckless. Seo ari also had her fault when she knew orders haven't been delivered she could have waited in giving her statement to police because she knew her actions will hurt other people and the same happened. Her clarification live stream could hace saved her to some extent but oh min hye's livesteam damaged her further, she could have waited for orders to finish before going agaiblnst taegang. The guy who died was also knowingly doing drugs and knew the dangers that came with his job. But really disliked operations director for aggressively taking orders and when things went bad he instantly comitted suicide, like atleast try to resolve it.

2) Seo a ri's friend: she was very irritating, but the shyt she pulled, selling products using her name, then crying like toddlers when got caught and blaming seo ari for being famous and worst of all dropping hate comments and giving justifications for that to the extent of being so brazen to say i did it to relieve stress. Seo ari must have gotten rid of her as no real friend doesnt this crap, seo ari was also the one who had made her life as well.

3) found seo ari a bit hypocritical. When bbbfamous was outing others dirty laundry before seo ari she took it as free gifts and was okay with it and used the info. When bbbfamous outed her she suddenly realized what a bad person bbbfamous was.

4) Jun kyung's accident didn't look believable.

5) NOW MY MAIN QUESTION: What was the purpose or meaning of junho's role, really didn't understand why he miled, did he own that account? Was that like symbolic, like bbbfamous is soewing hate and her home is dirty and filled with bugs, the cleaning crew cleans home and he privately runs accounts to support celebs? What was his cameo about again.

I liked the show it was well made, well written despite cliches. The could have made it more exciting but nonetheless it was a great show and does hold rewatch value.

Though i felt that there could have been more built up to the romance between Ari and Jun Kyung But his lines got my heart fluttering! <3 But i think it was not too bad, could understand if he fell for her character. May not be a typical ‘love story’

Excited if there is going to be S2. though not sure how it will play out since S1 covered the whole ‘scandal’

Also, the lead character's romantic relationship with the male lead was a bit dry? As a watcher, it felt like they paired them without any real build up. Sure, they have chemistry. It honestly felt like watching those anime couples of a vampire and a human. Except not as passionate....just cold?

I watched all 12 episodes in one day lol I was glued to the screen. I wished we would've gotten at least a second kiss between A-ri and Jun-Kyung but, I guess they were trying to demonstrate that he fell in love with her character and personality. #secondseasonplease

Celebrity is a great drama that is relevant to the social media culture we live in! I notice in almost every scene there was was phone or phone checking. Society has become addicted to phones. I watched it in 2 sittings. It was good to escape from reality and get hooked by another great drama. As I watched it I realize that some of the scenes are actual reality for some celebrities and influences. Its reality for normal people. Social media can be an angel and a monster. Like A-ri said at the beginning "question everything you see". SPOILER* My only criticism is that I wish the ML and FL love or lust story got more attention. Ari and Jun-Kyung could have been great together. He spent more screen time with the ex Si-Hyeon haha! It would be good to see this trio develop more. Second criticism, I wanted to see how the A-Ri "rose" from the dead. What was her life like in hiding? What did she do to find bbbfamous. That part was just brushed over. I could watch this again. 8.5/10 stars for me! Well done to the cast and crew.

This series challenges both influencers and followers (fans) to be kind. To be mindful of what we post and what we say about people--influencers or not--online, as we do offline. Jealousy and greed are feelings that one could incur in one's social media involvement and this series boldly showed how these mere little feelings could have deeper roots and can become toxic to a person's mental health and wellbeing.

A well written, well produced series. Netflix surely has an edge on choosing series with values and life lessons to pick up from. The cast, Miss Park Gyu Young who played Seo Ari perfectly portrayed the character. Lee Chung Ah's portrayal of Yoon Si Hyeon was admirable and we could not resist Kang Min Hyuk's charm playing a cool but warm hearted CEO, Han Jun Kyung.

Indeed a must watch series.

First off, I honestly hated the first few episodes — and probably until the middle of it — was asking myself what's the whole point and lesson of the show. But then I'm so curious for the plot and the what will happen that I end up finishing the show.

Te girls (gabin society) are soooo annoying they make me want to not continue with the show. The main lead doesn't have a likeable personality (until the middle of the show), I thought she has become worst and worst as the show goes on. But in the end, I kind of get her. I think I didn't liked her at first because she's the first female lead who's not like the other, she's strong and smart. The only characters I like are Si-Hyeon, Jun-Kung and Mr. Park. The others were BS. Tbh.

Also I thought the bbbfamous revelation was anticlimactic. How can a nobody who has been in one or two episode end up being the whole villain to the main lead? I mean, this show has a lot of villains imo but yk! Still, it all made sense in the end. I think the best friend being the hater literally made me shocked, and that scene was more impactful the the whole bbbfamous girl.

Lastly, I may not like the show at first but when you get to the near end, everything will make total sense. Love how this was (almost) real. Like how they tackle some issues, etc. This show literal shocked me to the core with its plot twists and stuff. In the middle of the show, I learned to love this series and I recommend it. 8/10

So this drama was interesting. I do need to know what was the dealio with that ending. Are we getting a season 2? I mean I'm of the belief that K-dramas shouldn't do season twos unless Absolutely necessary. This one is different season two isn't necessary for this drama, but I still would like to understand that ending...

claire Jul 05 2023 10:26 am Frankly, I find the Park Gyu-Young/Kang Ming-hyuk interaction fantastic. I really enjoy it. I also like the character of Lee Chung-ha. Of course, one can find tropes in every k-drama, but this particular drama addresses the strange world of Instagram and I can't remember another drama on this theme.

Any way, So A-ri and Han Jun-kyung are the hottest couple to be found at this time.

More Jul 04 2023 9:49 am I find the show very entertaining even though i do feel story could have been made more thrilling, script had strong potential, but it is good and twists are nice. But the more i watch the more questions come up. I had thought there was some serious reason between jun young and so hyeon's breakup, the way he kept asking her blaming her, the way she kept staring at him with giving in circle answers accepting she did the breakup but as if it was his fault too. Then finally in ep 8 or 9 we see the break up scene and honestly what was that? Jun young was dating her and they were so much in love, he finds out her situation and easily tells her like it doesn't matter she leaves him, naturally any woman or man treated this way will feel how sihyeon felt, it felt like his fault but then in present he says, 'back then i needed you, so now don't shoulder burden etc etc", and that resolves everything. Did anyone else find that confusing, wrong, unfair? Like wasn't this break up ridiculous

Secondly, the guy who died drugging was he an employee at the club? Also wasn't he also responsible for taking drugs when everyone was blaming tae joon guy for his death. Like his sister went their for drugs party, she did drugs, club owner arranged for drugs and sent in host guys host guy did drugs, overdosed or whatever and died, taejoon came in and sent him to a plastic surgery clinic, tae joon is at fault but how can he be entirely blamed for what happened to that guy at club.

Also it was very strange how that guy was away for many days and his family didn't look for him and how he got cremated like this, even with all his power could tae joon cremate without ibformibg the family.

Tae jeon is super rich who is also into drugs and stuff, such people have already bought doctors to help in emergency cases like these and cover ups so the fact he had no such arrangement was very strange.

If you’re looking for a light thriller without much depth, then this is the show for you. It doesn’t require you to think—instead, it allows you to sit back and watch events unfold as characters descend further into madness and others take advantage of that, securing their places on top.

It could have been much better with if the writers would have not emphasize on those influencer/family clichés. Especially this war between ladies from the same agency does not make sense at all. Besides that, the cast is good and they played well.

Chancellor Jul 03 2023 5:09 pm What I learnt from this story is that everyone deserves a chance at success the right way. Forget the fame and followers, that’s just a small part of success. Also influencing on social media is all about business, and you can do good for humanity if you do it right. I wish the main character didn’t stoop low and cheat her way to the top like the other girls. But I love how she stood up for yourself when it mattered.

I truly believe everyone who works hard at something should get the success they deserve. No fake influencer should be able to look down on other people and get what they want.

Not on social media Jul 03 2023 11:06 am First of I’m glad I’m not on social media and don’t care to know about e-celebrities. This drama just highlighted how toxic the influencers world is. The amount of people who’ve committed suicide due to online bullying or for not getting enough online attention is staggering. I’m glad this drama has highlighted the dark side of social media and the risks involved for those that want to be insta famous.

As for the actual storyline, I have to say that the FL was expressionless for majority of the time. Didn’t really connect with her much as she didn’t show much emotions. Also, she didn’t really have much of character development as she remained the same stoic until the last two episodes. I was really hoping to see romance development from the two leads but I felt more chemistry between the second fl and the ml then with the leads as she was just filming one woman show all by herself as she kept telling everyone around her including her best friend to stay in their lanes. No one in this world can do everything on their own she was Miss independent and kept charging forward on her own. Even when she started liking the ML she refused to express it to him to the point I felt like he was in a relationship all on his own. I was quite disappointed as I mainly watched this drama because of Kang Min-hyuk but his character wasn’t utilised much and he was only in the show as a token ML.

The ending was confusing also and didn’t hit the mark they could’ve at least end it with some interaction between the leads in some kind of romantic way would have been interesting but I guess that wasn’t the main focus for this show. Not sure what happened to all the criminals as well so it’s bit pointless to end the show without showing us how justice was served. Even the mother in jail felt out of place. Why would she be arrested for tax avoidance when the business belonged to her daughter? The last episode was mediocre. The storyline had a great premise but it was rushed and there were a lot of plot holes and lack of character and story development.

How can such a personality attract followers? No growth with a-ri til now hopefully i can see her character evolve starting ep 6 onwards

Wendy Jul 02 2023 5:22 pm I’m half way through this series and for the life of me I can’t figure out if Jun Kyung is suppose to be the love interest because he’s so annoying, pushy, and arrogant. A Ri has expressed multiple times that she’s not interested in him but he keeps forcing himself on her just because HE’S interested. He’s been disregarding how she feels so far and it’s really getting on my nerves. If he really is suppose to be her love interest, then something better happen that changes his personality because just being a privileged rich boy that doesn’t act like those in Gabin Society isn’t something to boast about.

I love the suspense at the end of each episode.. that makes you wanna jump onto the next episode.. park gyu young really did a very gooood job here. Wish this has a season 2. It's a kinda drama that's captivating. I love the story line.. indeed all these are what's happening in the entertainment industry.. kinda inside story many do not know about. I believe it touched ever corner of the industry...the good ,the bad,the pros,the cons..kudos to the team

I only wished it didn't have such a typical romance moment between a rich guy and someone not as rich as him... (the scene at the revolving door is tacky, imo) but it is still acceptable tho. Overall, this is a good drama. I really like the theme and the actresses, Park Gyu Young and Lee Chung Ah.

But, still dont really fond of the cinderella story of her. Hahaha. There may be many cinderella story out there, but want it or not people still grading each people in class. I dont really sure that those chaebol actually friend with normal people. They tend to flocking together with other chaebol. Well, eventhough I know story of those rich people who life a humble life and friend with normal people.
