Shohei (Tsutomu Yamazaki) is now retired from his job as a middle school principal. On his 70th birthday, with his wife Yoko (Chieko Matsubara) and first daughter Mari (Yuko Takeuchi) and second daughter Fumi (Yu Aoi), Shohei reveals symptoms of having Alzheimer's disease. First daughter Mari is a housewife with a husband and a child. Second daughter Fumi is still single and she agonizes over her life. One day, Fumi, Mari and Yoko realize that Shohei still holds onto fond memories which they have already forgotten.

wayer Feb 17 2021 8:42 am I can't stop crying whenever the daughters cry themselves to their father.. and seeing the love from the mother to the father. It's a sad and delightful movie. Very recommended to watch.. alone. Prepare loads of tissues.

Aci Apr 04 2020 1:49 pm I am still crying right now. I know that felt when your someone's special start forgetting about everything. When I watched this movie I remember about my late father, my grandfather who has dementia too. He already forgot about me too. And I contemplated why I am not caring for him, and not staying long for him. I am regretting a lot.

This movie is good. Teaching us about father who slowly forgot about everything but still held a little thread of his memories. I love their bond, and I love the mother who always there for the father. And I know, the father really loves his family but he doesn't show it. I love when their father said "I am proud of you"
