3 years later, in the country of Daeho, Jang Uk (Lee Jae-Wook) spends his lonely days hunting soul shifters. He carries the ice stone within him that allowed him to be reborn. In Jinyowon, Jin Bu-Yeon (Go Youn-Jung) has lost all of her memories and divine powers. She was pulled out of Lake Gyeongcheondaeho and brought back to life with the help of Master Lee Cheol (Lim Chul-Soo). Jin Bu-Yeon is now kept hidden in a secret room within Jinyowon.

One evening, Jang Uk chases a soul shifter running rampant into Jinyowon. He meets Jin Bu-Yeon and believes she is an imprisoned Jinyowon priestess. Meanwhile, Jin family leader Jin Ho-Gyeong (Park Eun-Hye) plans to wed her eldest daughter Jin Bu-Yeon to someone from the Seo Family. She will also keep her within the same room for the rest of her life. Seo Yul (Minhyun) and his cousin Seo Yoon-O (Do Sang-Woo) travel from the distant Seoho Fortress for the wedding. Jin Bu-Yeon, wanting to get a glimpse of her possible future husband, escapes from her room to see him at Chwiseonru. On the way there, fate has Jin Bu-Yeon meeting Jang Uk once again. They both share a connection and also have something the other person could use. On a whim, Jin Bu-Yeon asks Jang Uk to marry her.

Hash May 20 2026 2:32 am I just finished watching both seasons. My honest opinion about Season 1 is that Mu-deok’s character lacked emotional depth. I felt like she was not emotionally attached enough to Uk, or maybe her character simply didn’t have enough scenes to show it properly. There could have been more moments that made them feel like true lovers. Most of the time, I felt like only Uk was openly showing his feelings.

Also, I think the final scene should have included a great sword duel between Mu-deok (Naksu) and Uk. Instead, Uk was just suddenly stabbed by her, which felt emotionally incomplete.

Inmo Mar 11 2026 3:18 am @Eneri82 - It's been a while since I've watched the whole thing but IIRC, Jang Uk never met Naksu in person. The one who somewhat has a past connection with Naksu/Jin Bu-yeon is Seo Yul. That's why Uk couldn't possibly knew Naksu's face or that her real identity is JBY. As for what happened to Mudeok's real body and original soul, I honestly forgot. I could be wrong, but Mudeok seems to be the incarnation of the stone of life.

EDrama Oct 09 2025 12:16 pm I love season 1. A big reason why I saw it in the first place is that I love Jung So Min. So, a season 2 without her wasn’t particularly appealing. But, as I said, I still loved season 1 and not only because of JSM. And season 2, or part 2, is fantastic. Go Youn Jung is great. Lee Jae Wook is phenomenal throughout the series. If you still haven’t seen this, don’t hesitate.

Eneri82 May 10 2025 2:55 am I don't like the idea that Jang Uk did not recognize Jin Bu Yeon's face when they met in episode 1. I mean, even if the lead actress has been changed, in the story Jin Bu Yeon's body/Mudeok's body is the same, so Jang Uk must recognize her the moment he sees her. It's confusing, because don't tell me when Mudeok's body was taken out of Lake Gyeoncheondaeho and was brought back to life, her physical appearance was also changed?

I also feel that this kind of plot and change of actress can make the viewers experience how it feels to see the same soul change to different body? Even though at first I was kind of disappointed that it's Mudeok (Jung Somin) no more but the whole plot makes sense, and I can't help but rooting for the female and male leads to be happy together and being excited when they do!

But Alchemy of souls is the K drama that I have seen the most and there's lots of them that I love like queen of tears that movies the bomb Hometown cha-cha-cha, business proposal, etc... I could go on and on but none of them has hit me like Alchemy of souls ... keep Putting out your awesome music and your dramas I know this has something to do with the Hong sisters you girls are amazing and God bless you with your talent keep up the good work all of you Much love and respect❤️??

Coachy Alyssa Nov 17 2024 11:47 am First of all, I want to thank this movie alchemy for souls, it such a nice action romantic comedy, every season has gave its own character from pain into moving on and for opened a new beginning at, at the end, they end up together, the is the important thing, they ended up together, just wishing more seeing happiness of Naksu and Jang Uk cause at somehow, its more lovely seeing them more together at episodes because they faces so many challenges before they ended up together. Congratulations for all of the cast it such a lovely movie.

I really hope that they added in season 2 the badass Naksu because in season 1, Jang Uk is so curious about the face of Naksu and teasing Mudeok about it since she is in a cute body. Bu Yeon's divine powers + Naksu but now he would be fighting with Jang Uk in the same lake as the first episode would be a total perfect ending of this series. ?

They can add so many scenes there that can show both sister relationship, Queen picking both young ladies from Jin Family to be soul shifted to, Uk slowly falling inlove to Bu yeon without being confused then later he'll know who she is by seeing a portrait with wanted pictures as Naksu s1, Jin Buyeon developed a character change when she knew who she is and many more. But I understand since it is a Netflix Korean Series mostly they only have 30 episodes.I hope there is a season 3 but seeing how season 2 only has 10 episodes I doubt there's a season 3... ?

But then I realized, as Jang Uk fall in love with Naksu's Soul in Mudeok's face at the previous season. It's only fair if Jang Uk fall in love again with Naksu's Soul in Naksu's Real Face and it has to be done that way.

I wonder if I have that kind of beautiful face, but my husband only remember other woman face ? of course jealousy will eat my soul for the rest of our life together ????

Overall, Alchemy of Soul ??? very recommended to watch and Lee Jae Wook are very very very very handsome that my real husband contact name on my phone turning to "Lee Jae Wook" ?

the leading actress now might act differently, but still it matches because, she forgot everything. as i remember, the real blind beu-yeon looks more nice-happy type one but still she looks much more serious and nonchalant and matured than naksu in s1. and naksu as mudeok in s1 has a character of cleverness and her attitude develops and becomes more nicer one and oa in the last part.

I can feel all their emotions. i was looking for the soul of naksu(mu-deok) but it seems bue-yeon and uk was for each other. I don't really care if they change character, but what saddens me is that naksu wasn't meant for uk in the end. i would be happier if the character of beu-yeon(naksu real body) is just pretending that she doesn't know or she forgot... but its still the soul of naksu in her real body... but it wasn't... T.T

but still kudos for the plot twist. you really make me sad.(currently in ep.1)

Hvang May 05 2024 1:48 pm I absolutely loved season 2. Everyone is saying he moved on so fast after him and Mu-Deon’s love story, but you have to understand that no matter what body NAKSU takes, her soul will always be familiar to Jung Uk and that is why he cared so much for Bu-Yeon.

Another point is just seeing how amazing Jung Uk was. He came to his Full Potential and he played his character so well!!!!!!

Ingrid Wilkerson Apr 02 2024 6:21 pm The rest of the story is fine, they are letting the good people actually out-smart the bad ones in pt 2. I am baffled why No One has slit Jin Mu's throat yet? Everyone knew he was behind the soul shifters, they had dialogue about it. And he's so annoying with his conspiracy theories. I know, they need the bad guy...and he's a good actor because I really hate the character.

All of them only focused on Naksu, I know the one who teach JangUk is Naksu but... It's only Naksu all the time.

Jay Davis Mar 23 2024 10:42 am So many people are upset because Bu-Yeon didn't act like naksu. But if you keep in mind how Naksu/Cho-Yeong's life would have been had her father not been murdered. What would her personality have been had she not been motivated by Revenge? Since she has no memory of all that maybe this is how she would have acted. I think it's a stroke of Genius to have her this way.

Lima Mar 07 2024 11:04 am Oh God,this season failed to give a complete sense for the whole season 1,Mu deok/naksu she waited for all the ep in S1 just to get nothing in S2,I don't see the same energy or vibes from the replaced actress,she literally felt like another person, where the fighter girl who Naksu always wanted to be? Why they showed her like a decorative doll and used for only Romance I felt. Atleast they should have maintained her energy in level of mudeok (I'm not asking the level which was shown in ep1 of S1). I considered all the characters as the same soul so I had a big problem with the change of vibes,there is not many fun elements like in S1, literally felt bored.

chesia Feb 03 2024 12:57 am go younjung here really reminded me of shin minah in my girlfriend is a gumiho. Her expressions are so cute and innocent. I will have to say season 1 is really written better unlike season 2 but the chemistry with the leads made me watch this fully. Season 2 got better when naksu finally regained her memories. Overall this series was such a fun watch, don’t understand the hate towards her i think she did her best of what it was given to her (which was not much).

Poison Jan 31 2024 1:29 pm I love Naksu and Mudeok, Bu Yeon is a boring princess and pretty bland. I like it when she becomes Naksu again. Anyhow, Go Yoon Jung acts really well for being a newbie. Mudeok is completely absent in AOS2 and how I miss her so much in this series. AOS1 is so funny and have more actions. I finished 20 episodes in two days and worth it. AOS2 is serious, more of romantic drama and not so many actions, I got bored while watching it so I skipped many parts and went straight to episode 9 and 10. The ugly ending in AOS 1, will have the answer in AOS 2, so I can't complain so much.

I watch a lot of K-Dramas and I always dread the endings because the writer/director usually falls asleep and screws up a perfectly good drama. Thank goodness Alchemy of Souls was perfection from beginning to end. Bravo!!!!!!!

Her voice and eye expressions are remarkable. Truly did justice to the character. The Jin Seol ran part omg how did she make the character look so powerful !! Those neck muscles haha. Lee jaewook also did rly good

Max Aug 28 2023 1:12 am The sisters turned Jang Uk's character into a Playboy in season 2.

Then Uk kisses her thinking of her with Jin Bu Yeon in ep 4, that is (a new love interest), since he didn't know it was Naksu yet. It's just that he wasted no time "changing" women this season. Uk goes to the cliff where Naksu had met her death and says goodbye to her, and goes drinking to his room and that same night he already has Jin Bu Yeon lying in his bed!

He walks with her back and forth thinking of her as "Jin Bu Yeon" until ep 8. And they even kiss without the revelation! Worse yet he asks her to marry him and almost makes love to her thinking she is another woman!

In ep 9, he finds out who she is and Rapidly agrees to be with her, he didn't even think twice about it!!!

Ko Yoon Jung’s acting skills are so boring, expressionless! You can’t tell whether she’s happy, naughty, or sad. Her face remains the same! me May 24 2023 1:03 am It's not even because Somin is not in Season 2 anymore. Season 2 felt like a completely different story. Thanks to that actress and the way the writers wrote Season 2. I tried watching it because I expected a lot since Season 1 was good like really really good. But I ended up just watching 3 episodes. I should have just stopped at episode 1

Natasha May 08 2023 12:00 am I personally enjoyed Part 2 more than I did Part 1, which I really didn't expect because I remember fawning over the cast and acting in the first season. However, the leads in Part 2 just hits different. The chemistry between them was like no other to the point I was living vicariously through Nak-su. They made her character so likeable and her visuals were insane. I personally loved how they styled the characters this season. The plot was pretty similar to the first season just with Jang Uk not knowing that Buyeon is actually Nak-su. They made Uk so powerful that his fight scenes lasts 5 secs and personally, as someone who enjoyed watching his actions scenes in Part 1 it was a huge loss for me.

The most heart-wrenching part is the way Uk realised that he was able to move on from Mudeok and finally opening his heart for someone new just to know that he fell in love with the same person again. The story played the star-crossed lovers trope so well, and i couldn't be happier with how the drama concluded. Highly recommend

Honestly, The Only Issues I Have Is How They Only Gave Us Half The Episodes In Part 2 As There Were In Part 1 & How They Never Switch Up Go Yoon Jung's Hair In Part 2, Lol. She's Gorgeous Regardless Of What Style Her Hair Is In, But I Felt Like Compared To All The Fancy Hair Styles The Other Women Around Her Wear & Even Jung So-min's Braids In The Part 1, Her Look Falls Flat. I Get They Wanted To Accentuate Her Natural Beauty All While Trying To Hide That She Was Actually Nak-su By Avoiding The Updo Nak-su Wore In Her Original Body, But I Don't See Why They Couldn't Have Given Her Some Pretty Braids Like Jung So-min Wore As Mu-doek In Part 1.

& I Lied, Another Issue I Have Was The Nak-su Reveal In Part 2. Very Anticlimactic. I Understand Jang Uk Walked Away Because He Felt That If He Didn't He'd Have To Kill Her, But Then They're Reunited & He Immediately Doesn't Kill Her.? So, They Could Have Been A Little More Emotional & Given Us All The Sense Of Relief We Needed After Such A Build Up, You Know.?

Final Note Is Lee Jae Wook Is A God. I've Seen Everything Else He's Been In Since I First Watched AOS & He's Just Straight Up Perfection. Please Make A Part 3 & Continue The Adventure With All Our Favorite Characters.!

I wont complain with the changes of female lead, Naksu is just right to have the power of Bu Yeong, since Bu Yeong had the power of Naksu in season 1. This transition is so good. Go Yoon Jeung gave us different and refreshing vibe for season 2, and their chemistry, is wahhhhhhh!! I need a sequel for just the two of them! Coz why not, there still too much to bring back to Jinyowon, and I am craving for every scene of just the two of them! And Lee Jae Wook, wahhhhhhhh! I wont forget this guy for the next few week.

I am a fan of both female leads, so each season had that going for it. the acting from the lead characters is great in both seasons too. Personally I think i enjoyed season 1 slightly more, due to the exciting nature of it. It had a lot more action than the second season. A lot more danger, and conflict. The second season felt more peaceful and calm overall. More focused tying up loose ends.

There were a couple things in season 2 that I felt could have been better. As cool as it is having Uk be OP, that made any battle scenes too easy and quick. There was no struggle or much of a fight. Even with the fire bird....it was like super anti climactic. The other thing, was the ending felt a bit rushed. I think having just 10 episodes was the right move. Anymore and they probably would have had filler. Overall great series with great characters. Definitely worth a watch.

I've thought about it several times and I really think and feel the same. He truly fell in love with a whole new person who attracted him and had nothing to do with naksu's personality from the first season. I think at this point in his life he needed someone sweet like Jin Bu Yeon's personality (I know it's naksu) affection and a friend to help him get over the anguish of the past. Instead of the writers doing the script where they went to get amnesiac naksu and about souls falling in love again, they should have done a story about Jang uk's journey of getting through the bad times with someone new with the same personality I mentioned in above, I'm sure they would be very happy together, because you could see the passionate look on his face when he said he was going to ask her mother to marry his daughter. How things turned out between them, after the tragic and painful ending, I think she should have been left to rest in peace. And Jang uk was already able to move on when he went to the cliff where she fell into the lake and he closed that cycle. and go all the way back to his life stage up to episode 1/4 where he was in bad shape because of naksu. The best thing is to move on, find a new meaning to believe that he can be happy again. The past is sometimes better buried... I think that if he fell in love with a sweet girl and helped him to overcome the past, he would be much healthier and thus be very happy, because He has already gone through so many bad things in his life , is one of the people I've seen in Korean dramas that I would most like to be happy, because he deserves it and so much.

Well-plotted and amazing casts from both seasons. Funny, witty and everything the drama should be. Love the chemistry between each characters including Oh Nara and Yu Jun-sang. I would say Kim Do-joo and Park Jin were both scenes stealers. Utterly love them.

Part 2 have a bit high rating just to see how was the ending. Not because they think both ML and FL in part 2 have great chemistry or have good kissing scene. The kissing also so meh to me. Poor JSM, she is not even the original cast but really she is the one carry the story to lead in to part 2. If not coz of JSM, part 2 will be major flop.

Season 2 is only 10 episodes So, that is telling about their loves and what remain from season 1. That's mean she returned as Naksu and always being hunted unless she move to another body (and this will make imposible to cast Jung Somin too). Daeho people only know Naksu as Janguk's servant that turned out she's Naksu and try to kill him. Since the first time this is story about two mortals that suffered because of ice stone but destined together to help unfinished mission from the past.

The opening scene with Park Jin wounding Naksu with his arrow in Season 1 was replicated in Season 2 finale but the target was the fire bird. Are these scenes telling us something?

I really find it interesting when you put together all the dialogues about Mudeok's bird egg becoming a bird. Will it turn into a good bird or a bad bird? It's almost the basis of this fantasy story.

With Master Lee's help, he managed to 'revive' her. He lied about JBY's soul is dead/gone and only Naksu's soul remained, so if he is to save JBY's body her appearance would gradually change befitting to the soul. That's why the revived JBY has the appearance of Naksu/Cho Yeong. There are many things related to this but tbh it's worth the watch despite the still terrible writing in the fantasy part. The romance is very adorable and you'd be surprised to see the 'new' Naksu's personality.

Is it like Buyeon's soul was 'eaten' up by Naksu's to the point original BY no longer exist and her body completely taken over so her appearance changed? Or BY's soul died in the lake? It's clearly not because body swap since NS's body was burned and not because plastic surgery too unless the Surgeon from Faith time traveled too Daeho ?

I Watched season 1 but the ending made me lose interest to continue so I haven't watched season 2 but I'm just too curious about the appearance change. Maybe if the drama explanation make sense to me, I'll give it a chance.

Jang Uk didn't know anything about it until episode 9 until he learned the truth and even proposed to Jin Bu-Yeon at the beginning of episode 8, if he asked her in marriage meant that he was over and over the nakso and moved on with his so-called "new love". That much is clear... Even though the story is "loving the same person twice". This does not invalidate that in episode 8 Jang Uk hinted that he no longer felt anything for his past love.

JW and YJ's love scenes are like school teenager romance. it's no wonder that season 2 is liked more by teenagers, as can be seen from the dime-in comments on asianwiki. The virtual fighting action for season 2 also seems rushed. Ending plot season 2 is truly happy ending as romance drama.

I give it a value of C for season 2. grade B- for season 1.

CJK Jan 08 2023 5:43 pm I watched this drama series both session 1 and 2, and experienced all the up and down feeling as I follow the story. I was in tears half of the last episode of session 1, but I was smiling broadly at the ending. Thank you Hong sisters for giving us a happy ending to this drama (it won’t give us justice anyway if you break our heart again like the ending of session 1). The ending of session 2 does make sense and offered an acceptable solution.

I highly praise all the actors/actresses for their superb acting! Lee Jae-wook as Jang UK, is stunningly impressive, handsome and attractive. Ko Yoon-Yung, as Jin-Bu-Yeon, is pretty and fits her role beautifully (I don’t expect her to act and fight as an assassin anymore, because she is now residing in JBY body). I enjoyed Minhyun/ Seo Yul’s acting in session 2 a lot (and I am so happy he survived)! I am so impressed with the overall production: the cinematography, animation, scenery, wardrobe, the details! Excellent! Thank you and kudos to the director and team! This drama deserves better ratings and many awards.

It always hard for writers to create a satisfied ending for this kind of drama, where the character is not him/herself (in this case naksu/jin bu yeon). Hong sisters always write superb drama, their's always become mega hit drama but it always debatable on the ending. Some have sad ending and some have open ending where they left us with our own imagination. I had once disappointed with the ending of "Big" which I really hope it doesn't re-occur on AOS. But the thought of Jin Seol Ran being reborn as Jin bu yeon?? It gives a solid reason to left Naksu on its own. It's an excellent idea. I mean, if there is no jin Seol ran, it would be impossible to have Naksu remain life, right? With her being reborn as bu yeon to overcome the disaster, it is a plausible idea thet she will left the body to Naksu and dissappear after she meet her purpose.

Overall, it's really satisfied drama though it quite late in attracting my attention, only after Eps. 7 I guess? But I got addicted afterward. Thumbs up to the director and production staff, Kudos to all of the actor and actress, everyone carried their characters really well especially JSM who plays as Mudeok really well.. What an ashame that she had not participated in season 2, miss her in this drama so much..

The story came together nicely. It was funny and also heart wrenching. Such a tragic but also very beautiful story. If there is a season 3, I will be waiting and faithfully watching it but if no season 3, it’s okay because the story is complete now.

The first season was the best out of the two seasons.Anyway season 2 was too good because Jang Uk found his real love. They have selected the most suitable person to the role Jang uk. Lee jae wook did an amazing job wwithin the two seasons of Alchemy of souls. Goo yoon jung had a great chemistry with Lee jae wook. I really overjoyed watching this amazing fantasy.It was so dreamy full of love,action and all. The other actors specially Hwang min hyun did a great acting as Yul. All the other characters Lord jin, midservant kim, Dong gu , Master Lee kept the story so entertaining. Jin mu the cunning villain is also an unforgettable character.Jung so min also did sn amazing job by being Mudeoka in the first season who bears the soul of Naksu. Anyway at the end scene Bu yeon's eyes were dazzling in Blue. It shows that still there is the devine powers of Naksu.This was a great ending. I hope you too enjoy watching this drama. Really recommend this masterpiece to al who would like to watch Fantasy dramas.

Im inlove with the first season of Alchemy of Souls. It was the comeback kdrama for me as I took a long break fron watching korean dramas. Although there are some dragging parts but the storyline, casts, chemistry, production is astounding. They never fail to amaze me with their dramas. Then there comes this season 2 and it is okay. Not the same as Season 1 but I just feel like, somehow they purposely make it longer even if it can be just all in one season alone. It just didn't get in me compared to the first season. Maybe I got super high expectation and maybe I didn't see that from the second season. The storyline in the first season is complicatedly good, which means it has something that is new that the viewers would keep thinking. However, it became a little messy in the second season. But, it is still a good drama. Love the cast!!!

almost rage turtle Jan 08 2023 12:02 pm SPOILER ALERT Last few episodes were kinda dense tbh, I mean they executed and linked the images throughout 2 shows quite well. Jin Seol Ran reappeared to clear the muddy water of Jin Bu Yeon's character. Welp, I almost rage quit at half of the finale because of the nonsense of the protagonist. The fact that the emperor and the council suddenly leaned to Jin Mu's side was too forcing. I'm consent that they sparked their greed towards the power and the immortality at the end of ss1, however, ss2 finale made them become so dumb and meaningless by accepting soulshifting. Go Yoon Jung performed very well, in the end, her character has always been the center of 2 shows, Jung So Min did great as Mu Deok but the core of the character is Naksu, so I feel like Yoon Jung fit the 2nd show more. The flaws of the show is acceptable. 8.5/10 for me

The one thing that he tried to avoid. He will be petrified since there is no more soul ejector. All Jin Mu did was tempting the royal family to be obsessed about the ice stone for dominion. It's a typical mind game to succumb to one's insecurity. That's why the Crown Prince chose the turtle. He is not giving in to his ego anymore which caused the death of Mudeok. We will know tonight what's in store in the final sendoff of AoS. I hope to see more projects of these new artists soon.

Prefer season 1 because of the humour, fun and lots of friendly relationships. Prefer season 1 female lead Jung So-min with the male lead - they have good chemistry. This season 2 female lead does not have much chemistry with the male lead. She has more chemistry with Seo Yul and Crown Prince.

Nonetheless I want to thank the producers, directors, writers, actors and everyone involved in this drama it has been a real fun, emotional ride. I don’t regret one second of it. Although in my opinion season 2 seem rather rushed probably because they are trying to cram it all in 10 episodes.The last movie to make feel like this was Penthouse here I thought I won’t find a better match until I watched Alchemy of souls. There was no dull moment for me from episode 1-30 it was trilling❤️❤️❤️❤️. It’s sad to say goodbye but all things both good or bad must come to an end???

another turtle Jan 07 2023 1:30 pm Up until ep 9, the plot seems to be quite messy. I've been enjoying the effort they put into the romance, however, the protagonist of the serie is quite weak, it feels like they didn't find a good foundation and consistency for their evilish thingy. If the ending of ep 9 is what it's going to be, I feel it's going to be a bit stretch for unescessary sadness, it's just reduntdant. With 10 episodes only, it's acceptable for the show to be dense with fastpacing plots and moments, I just want it to end properly, sad ending is fine only if it's not bad. Hoping that the finale won't disappoint us.

But seriously season 2 to me just feels like fanfic of the first season. The plot is so messy. This drama took 3 years before returning to her old body. Naksu can soul shift to a worse body. I was reminded of Mudeok thinking of shifting to Park Jin or Crown Prince or Jin Mu. I do miss the goofiness in Seasin 1. Season 2 is intense. That's the difference. Kudos to both leading ladies who did a splendid job of portraying the said characters. These characters suffered PTSD in modern science. Mudeok acted goofy to survive. JBY acted mysterious due to amnesia. Naksu is basically a soul. Will Jang Uk behave the same if Naksu is another body? What if Naksu soulshift to Lady Heo? This is getting more interesting....

I cannot help but thinking how it would have made sense to simply transfer Buyeon soul to an empty vessel instead of having to UK to either destroy her soul or wait until the other one disappeared. For me it would have made sense to have a kid of their flesh but with Buyeon's soul. SoA Jan 05 2023 4:21 am JBY is getting back her divine powers because of the ice stone. She can drive away the wraiths when she's with Jang Uk but not in Gwido. The wraith isn't afraid of her. Unbeknownst to all of them, the healing process started when Jang Uk took JBY home. She started to regain her divine powers. Thus, Naksu's memory is slowly returning too.

I look forward to the final 2 episodes. It would be great to have a movie made for all the cast of S1 and S2. That would be a solution for all the fans of AOS. Both Mudeok and Naksu reunited in their own flesh. To take out Jin Mu and the hidden society.

Ual Jan 03 2023 11:33 pm I think there’s quite a few people who don’t understand that right now Naksu is not the fierce assassin, but Jin Bu Yeon. She is the gentle child of jinyowon. It is now Bu Yeon story and the life she would have lived. Because the first season was Naksu having to find hersef, I believe this season is Bu Yeon trying to find herself along with Naksu. They are two very different people. Maybe there will be a season 3 or additional episodes to tie up loose ends.

From the secret of their births, to growing up until now, their whole life were almost full of lies. I really hope that unlike Master Seo Gyeong and Jin Seol Ran, their life can come true. hihihello Jan 02 2023 8:10 am After watching until episode 8, here are my thoughts: 1. I'm really hoping that Crown Prince has a solid plan in bringing Jinmu down. It seems that he has something planned, as he seems to be very supportive of him. That way, Jinmu will reveal more of his evil doing.

2. That skeleton in Gwido will surely be something important in the upcoming episode. Was it Mage Choi's skeleton? The blue stone inside the chest might help Naksu/Uk.

3. In Part 1, Naksu asked Uk to find her sword so she can regain her power. I wonder if it will be the same in Part 2? Can Naksu regain her power by having her sword again? She even started to regain her memory when touching her sword.

4. I feel like Uk will know much about her in episode 9, and I really hope that he will find a way to protect her at any costs. He should've the chance to do so after what happened in Part 1. Their endings were sooooo heartbreaking. Really looking forward to their conversations and revelations in episode 9!

Overall, I'm enjoying Part 2 and the chemistry of the main leads are something else. Hoping that this drama will be enjoyable until the end.

I’ts something that you will always get excited on the next episode but sadly on season 2 it’s just a romance though jang uk and new naksu/buyeon has great chemistry and ko yoon jung is hella gorgeous! When it comes to the plot season 1 is more exciting I even forgot to watch the next episode of season 2 since It’s predictable and no action at all though not that boring. I think the action will be on the last episode between a battle of gin clan + songrim vs jin mu +queen followers. The history will repeat about a war, they will need to destroy the ice stone to end the war and only buyeon can do that. I think buyeon and naksu will combine their power to destroy the stone. Uk and naksu will die they will be a sacrifice and so as buyeon soon they destroyed the, ice stone, but really hoping that buyeon will at least leave. This is the plot that is possibly going to happen.

It should be revealed by now that the theory of her expelled from bu yeon’s body isn’t going to work. The ending already predicted that janguk and naksu are going to be together. I just feel they stall it too long.

Spoiler alert here - When Naksu went into the forest at the end of ep 8 and found a skeleton with a stone by its chest - I think that skeleton is Jang Uk when he died.. the ice stone is in his chest and that’s what is keeping him alive in the human world. Once it is taken out, he will probably die. That’s why Bu-Yeon with her divine powers has the power to take it out. This is why there are wraiths always flying around him because there are wraiths flying around him in that forest as well. Attracted by that energy.

Please god, give us a happy ending. Their love is so strong. Why give us a sad ending when you’ve built such a strong love story in season 1 and season 2…

Lol tbh I find bu yeon’s character to have more potential than naksu’s story (we found out how his father died previous season) but with Bu yeon, there’s too many questions. I want to see the writers show how powerful priestess she is in the ending. What really happened to her when she was young? How is there 2 souls existing in her body at the same time? Her mother is mean, but it doesn’t make sense if Naksu who took her body, the person who killed his father remains alive in Bu yeon’s body in the end.

Somehow I just feel that there is just a depth about it. Jang Uk is still healing and not really trying to get over his loss of his loved one or move on. Bu Yeon is basically three years in the world, she is so innocent and is trying to figure things out. Jang Uk will recognize Bu Yeon is real Naksu when he will find it out who she is. I see that GYJ and LJW's chemistry is awesome. I'm still loving season 2.

Idk whether it will be Jang Uk sacrificing himself to save Naksu or just using its unlimited power to "charge" Naksu whenever she needs it so that she doesn't run wild without sacrificing himself coz it also makes sense.

Sadly, we also know that Naksu in Jin Bu Yeon's body must do something regarding the drought. This kind of event is like Seo Gyeong and Jin Seol Ran, so in my theory, the ending will be the same.

But Mama Jin insisted to have the body of her daughter to carry the blood of the Jin clan. Jang Uk is the son of the King. Jang Gang is not his father but it's his body and his blood. So the soul shift spells have different rules when it comes to the King and the Jin clan.

Or is it different when it comes to a man and a woman who soul shifted? Also, the Seo clan have lanterns. The queen's body is dead but her soul is around. If she soul shifted, her offsprings are no longer noble blood coz her body is of a different blood. This is very confusing.

I personally think that their works is amazing, except for the endings. Mudeok and Jang UK chemistry are great as well! The story is fantastic both season 1 and 2. And I always look forward to every episodes in part 2. I love Buyeon’s character being paired with Jang UK. They’re really perfect for the show. Buyeon is naturally beautiful even if she’s not in the drama. I don’t like how the way people are criticising her in this new season. However, criticism is somehow positive in any way. All the actors are great! So it’s great knowing that the directors and other crews in this drama are putting great effort to make this show possible. Congratulations! I can’t wait for episode 6!

She is not afraid to express her thoughts in a refined manner. We do see the sweet little girl who was raised in a noble family and not the one who grew up to be the tough assassin. But glimpses of the old Naksu is in the new Naksu because they are both good in lying. They both saved Songrim from bloodshed by their quick wit It seems Jang Uk is the only one who can overpower the soul shifters. Seo Yul who is supposed to be the best got weakened by the worm. I hope the next episodes will bring his strength back. The plot is about Jin Mu scheming with his uncle and auntie to take over Jinyowon. Both Jang Uk and Seo Yul got something inside their bodies. The writers are thickening the plot by having the Seo clan dominating the screen time. Only 6 6 episodes to save Daeho from Jin Mu. Can't wait for Ep 5 and 6.

So these Kdrama and Chinese drama/movie writers have redefined the word, they have made it all the more confusing to me.

So far, season 2 has less action than season 1, but I'm happy even if it stays as is. I'm enjoying the couple's journey of discovery or rediscovery. It is possible that when Naksu regains her memory she might pick up her sword again and we might see a lot more action.

Because that is not her memories, its JBY. MEANING, since all that memories was made while she is the dominant soul in Mu-Deok, its her memories, not JBY.

Also, I love they are falling in love with each other once again without knowing who they were that means they are real soulmates....only thing when Naksu gets her memory backs we might have a little angst....love how buyeon/choyeong is jealous of herself when putting the stones back at the begnning of the episode.

Also, love love how they amplifying the romance in Part 2 to the next level, those fireflies giving her the way at night sent by Jang Uk that was so cute....and next week looks super awesome....I love Lee Jae-Wook is a great fighter in this role.

I'm tired of reading all the rude comment about FL and I don't care about all the haters for judging her. I love Go Yoon Jung as FL is wonderful in this great role. That she can act. Fighting! I continue to very support all the actresses and all the actors in this season 2. Hats off to them as great work. I can't wait to see for the next episodes more.

I leave this comment to clarify why JSM (Mu-Deok/Bu-Yoen) is totally replaced with GYJ (Naksu). 1st of all, AOS is about the love story between Jang Uk and Naksu. Even though in AOS1, the body is JBY, the personality of Mu-Deok is Naksu. Therefore, it’s only natural to conclude the story, Naksu should be the one who survived. JBY is born with divine power, she can see energy and handles relics like play toys. But, as a child she was missing and raised by normal grandmother at normal village and did not received any training on spells or martial arts. As a result, she has a weak body and energy but she still has her great divine power. That’s why she can trap Naksu soul and energy inside her body. But this event shows that JBY also has a weak soul. That’s why when Naksu is inside her, the personality of Mu-Deok become Naksu’s, and gained sight. In AOS1, Naksu’s become the dominant soul in Mu-Deok. Only once, JBY resurfaced in reality, while Naksu is sleeping. After that, she only appears in the background, to save Jang Uk and inside the Ice Stone. JBY cannot prevent Naksu from running wild. This is because Jin Mu has released the energy of Naksu that has been locked by JBY. When Naksu throw herself inside the Lake Gyeongcheondaeho, her energy is use to maintain her soul & JBY’s. JBY only possess divine power but she has weak energy. Her soul is only maintained due to Naksu energy. That’s why, JHG has to remove JBY soul and save Naksu soul to preserve the body of JBY.

Sophie Dec 18 2022 12:52 am I guess a lot of people are confused as to how Naksu's soul survived instead of Jin Bu Yeon. Some go as far as stating that Jin bu yeon has more power than Naksu so Naksu's soul should have died instead.

But aren't we all forgetting the major hint in season 1. Master Lee clearly said in Season one that a "great soul" has shifted into this body in episode 5 season 1. And that great soul is obviously naksu. He later went on to acknowledge that the great soul was naksu in the later episode.

Perhaps even Jin bu yeon realized how great naksu's soul is that is why she trapped naksu's soul in her body. And this explains why she told naksu that "this time we were able to protect the ice stone" I guess she needed naksu's soul for that.

Although Jin bu yeon is powerful, naksu has been proven to have a greater energy and Jin bu yeon can only sense that energy and trap it. She is not an equal to naksu in terms of power.

I was preparing to be utterly disappointed, but the contrast between the two seasons is quite interesting. You get to see another take on the characters further into their lives where they have more responsibilities (like park danggu). Of course its difficult to adapt to the new main actress, however she is doing a good job is executing her role, especially continuing So-min's mannerisms she established for Mu-Deok. I have hopes that this season will be good, I just think the key to enjoying it is acknowledging that it's not gonna be like the first season. Since there is less episodes, the plot is gonna be more straightforward because they are going to be wrapping up the story they have already established in season 1.

I hope this season can still be appreciated, I'll be watching with an open mind and hoping they finish the drama nicely :)

She did not swap bodies but stayed in Mu-deok's body. So, Bu-Yeon's soul is still here but trapped just like in Season 1.

Jojo Dec 12 2022 5:33 pm To be honest, the first 2 episodes of Part 2 have failed to spark anything for me, the storyline is too washed out, it doesn't have that excitement as it did for Season 1 - we have to now deal with a depressed Jang Uk and an over zealous Buyeon who wants to marry him to escape prison created by a crazy mother...from hereon everything will become predictable, no more mystery, no intrigue that made Season 1 powerful...just a fizzle.

Reading comments and only now learning people associate So Min more to Mudeok/Jin Buyeon than to Naksu, what is a surprise because for me AOS was ALWAYS a story about Jang Uk and Naksu, despite her outside appeareance, how their master-pupil relationship came to be along with their romantic feelings.

Don't know if they changed the story or if they did always plan to not have So Min acting as Jin Buyeon, but for me it makes more sense: Buyeon's role was fullfilled guiding Naksu when she was inside her; Naksu CAN'T have Buyeon's appeareance or it would be hard to explain why Jang Uk is so drawn towards her when in fact he never saw her before and now is more interested in her powers, he just wants to rest and accept the destiny he chose when let Naksu kill him, a destiny where he either been killed by her than live to see her die.

To So Min's fan, I understand missing her because she was a perfect Naksu/Mudeok but it wouldn't make sense she acting as Buyeon and a new romantic interest to Jang Uk at that, he literally had his heart stabbed, died for her just to move on to someone who he never met before. Please, the boy is living miserable searching someone to get the ice stone out of him bc he believes Naksu's dead.

All the actors did and are doing a great job, especially Yoon Jung. I can recognize Naksu the way she talks and in some mannerisms, so no surprise Uk and Yul can also do. Can't wait to the badass Naksu to be back asap, though.

The difference is kdrama fans are mad as hell and start to act ridiculous when the story didn't go as they pleased or when the characters they like, die or disappear in a story. Meanwhile a true fantasy lovers who enjoys the story and understand all characters, will not bother when someone or the leads dead. Because they know since the start the story revolves around the 2 leads which is jang uk and naksu. So it's funny when people who likes JSM or Mudeok or Jin Buyeon are angry when she disappear from the story since it's obvious the writers only made JBY as a side character. Lol kdrama fans are weird and ridiculous.

Savage Dec 11 2022 11:03 pm All of you defending naksu I don’t understand what naksu is doing in this season 2 cos naksu story was already cleared in season1 , she found out how her parents died and it was not in the hand of the four masters so her story already ends, this second season should have just focus on the comeback of Jin bu yeon, and maybe jang uk getting revenge for naksu on the villain and we should find out wat will happen between the crown prince and jang uk This was exactly the plot I was expecting to be honest

milktea Dec 11 2022 10:53 pm I must admit the new actress has more chemistry with Jang Uk in this season. And Mudeok (Seomin) has more like a brotherly chemistry with Jang Uk. However, the fact that they just killed Bu Yeon’s character doesn’t make any sense. They keep stressing in the first season how much great power she has (hence her soul stayed while Naksu’s Seoul tried to take over her body). And what disappoints me in the season 2 is that Buyeon’s story has so much potential (so many questions left unanswered) And I did secretly hoped that the real Buyeon can get together Seo Yul lol. Now the writers made her body and DNA exist and killed her soul. Would have been a better story tho.

buyeon's body was resurrected and somehow contained naksu's water energy (naksu's energy is stronger than we thought. is there any connection between this energy, the lake, and the beginning of daeho from the sky energy?)

and it's clear, there's no more naksu's body, there's only buyeon's body which tranformed into naksu because naksu's energy formed new cells adjusted the soul. and there's ONLY naksu's soul inside.

good bye jin buyeon:( now, the only thing left is her DNA & power, which now belong to naksu's soul.

I do not mind real Naksu coming back however the story of how it is still Bu-yeon’s body and Naksu’s soul while now the soul is resembling Naksu’s feature makes no sense and even if it does Season 1 Episode 1 didn’t most of Songrim people including Songrim Leader and Seo Yul saw real Naksu’s face. Naksu’s body was preserved in Songrim for a while how does no one recognize her when Jin Mu can!!!!!!!! There is so much the writers could do, it would make more sense to have Mudeok/Bu-yeon as Jinyowon leader and the her mother to finally be united with her daughter. Let Naksu be Naksu with Jang Uk and someone please kill Jin Mu.

I’d say I still love Jung So Min in the character just because she was very good in it and I like her acting. Though I am not complaining with Ko Yoon Jung. In fairness, she is very good in the fighting scenes in part one.

Although this part 2 is showing good promise I feel like it somehow doesn’t make sense of what was told in part 1. Naksu switched soul to Mudeok which turned out to be Jin Buyeon the most powerful priestess. She lost her fighting skills because Mudeok aka JBY has a weak body. But Mudeok being JBY is still manifesting her power as a priestess all the while Naksu’s soul on her body.

Now in part 2, Naksu’s energy is stronger than Jin Buyeon that to resurrect her “dead body” which as told is still alive but the soul is weaker is to choose the Naksu soul but they both no memory of the past. So we have JBY being a weaker soul take the human form of Naksu.

Remember that in part 1 Mudeok/JBY has weak body taken over by Naksus soul. However, Mudeok/Jby eventually manifests her great power and Naksu regain her old self trance-like in Mudeoks body the last couple of episodes. So is that to say both body and soul JBY is weak.

IMO, if JBY died with Naksu as a soul shifter, they should both died. The explanation that Naksu soul is stronger doesn’t make sense to me. How Naksu overpowered JBY and transform into her human form is beyond me! I know it’s fantasy but there should be other explanations…idk but whatever. I’m still watching. The 10 episodes seemed not enough though.

The story I want be told is what happened to JBY soul while Naksu soul in her body It was loosely told in part one. I believe there was so much more potential in her story that is more interesting too.

But I got confused when Master Lee told Ho-Gyeong that Naksu did not do an alchemy of soul or soul shift to enter Buyeons/Mudeok's body but rather her soul locked up inside, why in S1 Jin Mu used that shamans bell to summon Mudeok where infact that bell is only reactive to those who are soul shifter only, so how come it has an effect and she went wild if she's not a soul shifter? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it was Buyeons body after all, it was only the physical appearance of Naksu (still two souls residing in one body) so, to save Buyeons soul, Naksu's energy was used that's why the body has the appearance of Naksu. So I'm hoping the two soul will find their respective body thru the used of ice stone so I guess and hope that JSM will appear and with Buyeons' soul.

TRE Dec 11 2022 10:37 am So...ya..the 3 yr time skip from what caught was bu yeon soul died so master lee saved naksu soul in bu yeon's body, then which transformed the body to look like the soul within. Also no one using mudeok's name except for so yi, yul and park jin not recognizing naksu when they seen her body in part 1...seriously this is pretty much like a next kdrama, but nonetheless I'll watch till the end to give it a final judgment

Aldrin Dec 11 2022 10:01 am I have a feeling that Seo Yul and Jin Bu-yeon will end up together. Naksu, whose soul was inside Mudeok (Bu-yeon) in Part 1, is now gone.

Uk will eventually make peace with his past and move on. He even may die in the end since he is "not supposed to be alive."

I want a happy ending for Seo Yul.

Maybe Buyeon's body was saved using one of Jinyowon's relics. But the relic makes her body change shape according to the soul that resides in it. So maybe it is Naksu who had lost her memory.

Why did the mother of Bu-yeon kept her hidden? Is she Bu-yeon's soul in Naksu's body? How did Naksu's body returned? It was burnt. Then Jinwoyon leader said that Naksu's soul was dead when they retrieved the body 3 years ago. It might make sense that it is Bu-yeon's soul since she was born with the help of ice stone. Her soul might be immortal but her body can be altered. Still I want to see the transition from Mudeok to Naksu's body.

zeea Dec 10 2022 4:58 pm i'm pretty sure, it's naksu's soul. the way she callled "jang uk" reminds me of naksu when she was in buyeon's body. moreover, if it's buyeon's soul, mrs jin won't isolate her like that and would meet her everyday since she really loves her. mrs jin deceived everyone (include her own self) because she felt guilt about what she has done to buyeon (almost killed buyeon's soul when her body was under naksu's control), and hopeless too. that's why she also forced her to get married asap to gain offspring, so she can pass down her throne to her grandchild.

i think buyeon is also in naksu's body (deep down in naksu's unconsciousness), since naksu can sense the ice stone inside uk. or, maybe naksu is actually more powerful than anyone? what if she inherited the energy of the sky which reach the earth and embodied in the lake? that explains how she still can sense the ice stone without buyeon and got more powerful when she sinked in that lake first time in part 1

anyway i love this opening episode of part 2

Danny Dec 10 2022 10:46 am I like the first episode of AOS 2 and I fell in love with KYJ (Naksu) SPILL- Naksu lost her memory (I think it's Jin Ho-Gyeons doing or because she's free from mudeok's body or maybe both), tho she lost her memory I kinda feel a warmhearted/affectionate Naksu rather than a cold hearted and blood thirsty.

It's sooo Ironic, on S1 it's Naksu who needs Jang-Uk but now on S2 it is Jang-Uk who needs Naksu.

Jin Ho-Gyeon is still obsessed with hear dead daughter Buyeon/Mudeok where in fact she's the one who killed her own daughter. (I hate her seriously)

And finally my Seo Yul is backkkkk :3

First of all I've watched 4 dramas including AoS with Jeong So-min as the lead actress and she was always great while I saw Ko Yun-jeong the first time as Naksu. I was just annoyed that ever since the end of AoS the comments here keep lamenting about wanting to see JSM again. I wish for people to appreciate KYJ as Naksu more especially since it seems this was her first major role as an actress. The only complaints I had about AoS 1 was the story, spesifically the shallow portrayal in the magic & martial arts. I get that ofc the story is about Jang-uk & Naksu but since they choose the fantasy genre I think it could've been done better.

The casting was done great as JSM's facial feature is too soft for a merciless assassin who is blinded by revenge. That's why she was very suited as the character Jin Bu-yeon. Not sure how would the real Naksu managed to appear here in her real body and what would happen to Jin Bu-yeon's body but it should be interesting and more appreciated since KYJ is very suited as the real Naksu. Honestly the first season weren't that great especially for a 20eps weekend drama. Now with this short 10eps I hope the story's quality would be much better.

vivalavavi Nov 22 2022 8:36 am Completely in agreement with her. Jang Uk fell in love with Naksu and not Mudoek. Bu Yeon only surfaced in times when Naksu was in danger. The person that we all met was always Naksu. We haven't met Bu Yeon yet. I was actually a bit disappointed when they used Jung So Min to show the conflict between Naksu and Bu Yeon - they should have used Go Yoon Jung as Naksu and So Min as Bu Yeon. May be audience would have been less conflicted that way. There are two souls inside Bu Yeon's body and because Bu Yeon is strong they did not petrify. I am hoping that So Min will make a cameo. Another arc I am curious about is the origin of ice stone and the love story. A supposed parallel was hinted in the characters of Jang Uk and Master Seo Gyeong; and Bu Yeon and Priestess Jin Seol Ran, remember the love letter.

her Nov 22 2022 2:14 am hello friendly reminder that the "Mudeok" yall know and love, and the "Mudeok" Jang Uk loves is Naksu/Cho Yeong all this time. Buyeon only appeared a few handful of times. the personalities that Jung Somin portrayed almost the entire time is Naksu or Mudeok which is her disguise (when she's speaking satoori).

Mudeok is Not the combination of Buyeon and Naksu because Buyeon did not contribute to the personality or decisions of Naksu. it's Naksu all along.

Naksu/Cho Yeong and Jang Uk are soulmates. they are the ones in love, they deserve to be together.

mia Nov 21 2022 2:38 pm I really hope they also bring Jung so min. otherwise, it will not be the same as no spark of interest will be there as the story will be repetitive, bland, and predictable. in s1 both bu yeon and naksu resided in bu yeon body thus becoming mu deok. So it's fair for both actresses to return. For the main story to unfold both naksu and bu yeon are important. i will be outrageous and utterly disappointed if they cut of bu yeon. i can't believe she will not be there as she too has her part in the story. nakus and uk can be the end game but please bring so min as bu yeon. she suffered too much, it was her character who got separated from her mother due to power battles and politics so she should remain with her part and at least have closure. it is really unfair to her character and the plot.

please bring both jung so min and Ko Yoon-Jung.

Justly Nov 21 2022 12:56 pm Okay what if, mudeok is actually in a coma after jumping off into the water and Boyeon didnt want to be trap in her own body that isnt working so she switched her soul into naksu’s original body because honestly we still dont know if naksu was really burned fully or if her body was revived after….Anyways im sure it’s gonna be boyeon in naksu’s body because boyeon’s story just started. Season 1 was mostly about naksu and her revenge……

They both are excellent actress ♡ and if you really liked the story line just enjoy it. We never know maybe JSM will appear as a cameo for ended the story more clearly . there are still many who doubt GYJ's acting ability. I watched her dramas and movie several times, even though her role is relatively small but GYJ's acting is really good. but back to taste, maybe some people didn't like it from the start. Wouldn't it be strange if the character suddenly disappeared. and can't accept (although you have to accept) when later jang uk is with real naksu, like he's having an affair T . T, even though from the start he really fell in love with Naksu, but Naksu in mudeok is cute, while in real Naksu, just charisma isn't funny or cute. really curious really curious how the story will go later. also the author's goal of removing JSM. Actually, I started watching because of JSM, but because the story is good, however, I'm still looking forward to season 2.

sasa Nov 17 2022 5:20 am if we look more closely to naksu's face in season 1, there was a vague dot of birthmark under her left eyebrow. but this female lead in season 2 (which we assume as naksu's body) doesn't look like has one in the teaser.

is it possible that it's actually not naksu's body, but somebody else's which looks very similar to naksu? and the soul ... it could be naksu or jin buyeon, we don't know yet. anyway i love ko yoon jung and can't wait to see her performance
