After watching My Dearest, I am not able to go back and watch American movies anymore because they seem to me shallow and superficial now. It had all the world’s current events: invasion, occupation, displacement, hostages, return, student (scholars) protests and petitions ignored, protestors attacked with impunity. I sobbed all the way through. If I recover, I will certainly watch again. My Dearest is tied with my all-time favorite sageuk. Bravo to the entire production staff. Isabelle D. This drama moved me to the core and even after watching twice several weeks ago I'm not able to move on as I am still feeling overwhelmed with all the emotions that this drama created in me. Nam Goong Min was truly spectacular and I have been watching his other work after watching My Dearest. Eu Jin was also very touching and someone I will be keeping a on for future work. The entire cast was phenomenal and the cinematography the colors, and this sense of epic moments. Something I can never forget. I also wanted to mention that the music was perfect for this drama and so beautiful. I actually bought the soundtrack on Amazon music! I watched on YouTube your speech when you received the MBC award. and I was truly moved by it, especially the part when you said that Min is your soulmate, which I could definitely see in the movie based on how the camera really portrayed him in a wonderful way. it was amazing to me to learn that it took five years to write the script. Carroll Feb 28 2024 4:16 pm I have to thank you for My Dearest..it was the most amazing movie I have ever experienced on so many levels. Far beyond what is produced here in the U.S. on T.V. and in the movies. I loved learning about the Korean history and I felt like I was actually there and experiencing what the people went through. I am in Southern California and saw an episode on a local MBC channel randomly...it was episode 10, an odd introduction to the show to say the least. In local parlance "I was like, dude, what , what IS this cool show?" It caught my interest immediately and I watched the entire series later on. Even though I didn't know where I was in the story - it really drew me in. I have an M.F.A. degree in Painting and I really responded to the artistic nature of the lighting, intense colors in the landscape, costumes, action scenes (particularly one of a group of horse riders in which the horses are going forward and the camera seems to fly backward behind them). I have seen many movies - never saw that before ! Also, the music was perfect. The emotion elicited from the actors was fantastic. I am now a Nam Koong Min fan ! All the actors were so wonderful. I don't know how to explain how great I thought it was. I guess I am speechless. Thank you to all of the artists involved. Hope to see more of your work in film. I am glad that streaming content will showcase your work all over the world. I am happy to have found it here in the U.S. on a digital channel .. although I admit I bought the dvd of My Dearest for my collection. I also have seen The Veil , which was also very unusual and brilliant. Thank you again, you are a true artist. I never thought that this drama will make me feel attached. I still can't move on from it. I hope u can cast Seo Hyun Jin & Nam Goong Min one day. Both actor has the same passion in acting. I always thought there's no period drama that can top Six Flying Dragons and Moon Lovers but you certainly proved me wrong. I was not expecting My Dearest to have such a powerful effect on me but oh boy it did! The production team, actors and actresses did such a great work they literally made me feel or think that all is happening for real that's how brilliant they are.
