Choi Kang-Seok (Jang Dong-Gun) is the best lawyer at prestigious Kang & Ham Law Firm. He is promoted to a senior partner.

Go Yeon-Woo (Park Hyung-Sik) has a photographic memory and excellent comprehension skills. He dreamed of becoming a lawyer, but due to his poor background he currently works as a parking valet. To pay for his grandmother's hospital bill, he takes a job to deliver drugs to a hotel room. While in front of the hotel room, Go Yeon-Woo realizes that he is going into a trap. Go Yeon-Woo is then chased by the cops, but he gets into the secretary's office for Lawyer Choi Kang-Seok. At that time, a group of people are waiting to take interviews with Choi Kang-Seok. He is going to select a rookie lawyer for the law firm after conducting the interviews. Go Yeon-Woo is then admitted into Choi Kang-Seok's office. Choi Kang-Seok senses that Go Yeon-Woo is not the applicant they called in for the interview, but he is impressed with Go Yeon-Woo's intelligence & memory. Choi Kang-Seok decides to hire Go Yeon-Woo as a rookie lawyer even though he does not have a license to practice law. Choi Kang-Seok's decision could even place his own career in jeopardy.

Skye Apr 19 2025 3:38 am The OG suits has almost every character dripping in sarcasm, sass, and top-notch snarky clapbacks. From Donna, Mike, to Harvey nobody shies away from crossing the line with their bosses or anyone who is more powerful than them. You put these characters in Korean setup and strip them of everything that makes them intersting you will end up with a dull formal office drama. No edge at all. There are something which are too American to be kdrama-fied, and should be just left untouched.

Park Min Sep 29 2022 2:09 pm I didn't watch the American version so I don't have a point of comparison and will treat it as stand alone drama. I didn't like the direction it took and their choice for the final antagonist. I didn't like the inclusion of romance in this one, it felt flat and unnecessary. They tried to add background story to every character but most of them didn't work well. Yun Woo's old friends and grandma, Na Joo Hee and Ji Na's mother, none of them had a meaningful impact. The number of cases were too few for 16 episodes, I was expecting more lawyers shenanigans and less melo fluff. The climax and its ending didn't feel that satisfying. Overall, it's average at best.

No one can play better than jang dong gun, the hair, the moves, the confidence is there. no more season 2 since they did 3 US season in 16 episodes of kdrama. perfect ending. 10 out of 10. Also let's commend Ham "the snake" very scary face, also perfect for the role, and ms hong, my donna, perfect choosing the fake document scene, that's really one of remarkable even in the US version. And especially park hyung sik perfect for the role I can't imagine anyone else who will pass hyung sik with his performance in this drama. My rating? 10 out of 10. ☺️ also guys try loklok or viu. Enjoy!!!

Loved him from “Gentleman’s Dignity” and loved him there but love him here more. The suits and the women’s fashion are really on point. Very worthwhile watch during this pandemic. Please give us Season 2!???

don't get me wrong, i love this drama especially the chemistry between Yeon-Woo and Kang Seok, the father-son vibes is *chef's kiss*. but i actually expected this drama would be like criminal minds (kor ver.), no romance involved but still have a great and enchanting storyline.

I haven't watched the US version so I cannot make any comparison. What I love the most is the chemistry between PHS and JDG; they'd pass as father and son. And the story isn't boring at all, especially when Mr. Kang returned and made a stir. It did surely test them which gave the thrill. The only thing I didn't like is the kinda forced romance between hyungsik and jina

BBYe Aug 25 2018 11:32 pm LOVE this drama . The acting of two main male leads were awesome, Jang and Park are perfect for this role, perfect casting . I am happy that this drama didn’t have many romantic scenes because it wasn’t necessary . There were zero chemistry between Yeon Wo and Gina and I am totally fine because the bromance between Choi and Yeon Wo is real. They nailed it. Beautiful ending .

SF9 Aug 15 2018 10:35 pm Well...I've watched like 4 seasons of the USA version, and I loved the series, so I was excited about it. I tried to get into it a couple of times, but it didn't hook me. After the third time, I was hooked.

It's great that it portrays the characters really well, and it more or less depicts the dynamics of the characters' relationships fairly well, given the limited amount of time.

My major issue is the pacing of the show. They took different story lines from seasons 1-3 and didn't really cohesively put them in order. The story lines are great, but they often left things hanging and wouldn't return to them for the sake of trying to fit in as much stuff from the American series as possible. For people who haven't seen the American series, this might be annoying.

Aside from that, I loved it. It's a good contrast from other Korean dramas in that there's no major villains or love triangles, and it isn't complicated. I'd recommend watching it for the bromance and the cleverness of the show itself.

Moriaelini Aug 09 2018 4:20 pm I was never interested in the U.S. version of this show, but then I am iffy about the U.S. shows I will watch anyway, and something on USA network rarely is going to get me to watch. Having said that, I was i terested in the Korean one since I watch so many kdramas, unfortunately neither Viki or Dramafever have it and those are my two kdrama subs on my roku. I guess I will have to wait until it comes to either of those or maybe Netflix...

If you look at the reality, mostly rich kids have the opportunity to choose what courses they want especially courses which after you graduate could easiily earn big income like Attorney, Doctors etc. Wealthy families can only afford, por cannot. Like what had happened to Go Yeon Woo, he did not finish his pursue his career because of lack of money. Well, i just started watching this, it hooks me. It relatable for me. It has a lesson. Thanks for this but i don't like the partner of hyun sik. Wish you will paired to IU. I like IU Fighting

But then i decided to give it a try & continue to watch a few more episodes before dropping it since i really like hyung sik. I just finished watching the series today and i gotta say overall it was quite okay. the storyline was good and the bromantic chemistry between them was excellent. it became really intense for the last few episodes so yep it was a good drama i never regretted watching it

Maria Carmen Jun 02 2018 4:06 pm The Korean version of Suits is excellent. The production have successfully adaptted the original Suits according to the Korean setting and culture. For example the love story between GYW and Kim Ji Na is developing slowly but beautifully as compared to the original. In fact I like how GYW and Kim Jin Na’s love story developed around this rabbit thing. Honestly though I would like both characters to relax and enjoy each other’s company since both have already expressed their real feelings for each other. The relationship between CKS and GYW is that of a father to a son/ mentor to a mentee however in the original series the characters were like buddies. I love that scene when GYW was looking at the expensive watch CKS gave him. Park Hyung Sik has really immersed into his role as GYW. PHS has owned the role. I like PHS as GYW than Patrick Adams as Mike Ross. As the series is nearing its finale ( only 4 episodes left) the tension is increasing as well as the excitement. I wonder how the issue of fraud on GYW part be resolved since this is the main plot of the story Chae GS is as good as Louis Liit in the original series. The other korean actors are good but with only 16 episodes It would be very difficult to develop their characters, for example the Korean Donna. Chae Jung-An as Da-Ham is good. The relationship bet Harvey specter and Donna in the original series is complicated and had so many layers which is hard to show in 16 episodes I love this korean version more than the original because GYW as a genius was emphasized and was used in almost every episode. In the original series, after having been hired by Harvey, Mike Ross’ genius ability was never/rarely demonstrated. In the korean version, the growth of GYW was shown in each episode that’s why we see him making mistakes and trying very hard to assimilate everything CKS teaches him. There is a solid storyline. The relationship between GYW and CKS grow as they encounter different cases each episode. I am very excited to watch the four remaining episodes. I hope they will be able sustain excitement and expectations. As early as now, I would like to say BRAVO to the whole cast and crew of Suits Korea

Hunter May 31 2018 5:34 am I haven't watched the U.S version and I'm not interested in doing so. This version is excellent. I'm loving the characters, scenery and writing. All the actors are doing an amazing job. I'm a little sad as there is only 5 episodes left. And a huge shout out to Choi Gwi-Hwa, he has brought his character to life.

KaiDrama May 31 2018 1:01 am First of all, I would like to say that some need to realize this drama is not a remake or recreation of the original Suits. Although I have not watched the original Suits, I like how the actors in this drama are taking the characters and making it their own. I think when watching this, people should try keeping an open mind because you can't exactly compare the two shows as one is not a remake of the other. I also don't get why people are so upset with Yeon Woo for wearing sneakers? Yes, I realize that lawyers are supposed to look professional top to bottom but it's his charm. In the poster, Kang Seok is looking very dapper dressed in a suit with his polished black shoes sitting in the chair in a very professional and sharp-like manner, while with Yeon Woo, although he is also dressed in a suit, he's wearing red sneakers and sitting on top of the chair instead of in the chair with his legs in a very relaxed manner as if he was lounging around. It's obvious the writers are trying to show the difference between the two, with Kang Seok being the competent lawyer that he is, the ace, while Yeon Woo being the novice with much to learn from his mentor. I think the sneakers play a huge part because it symbolizes Yeon Woo's playful-like personality, his naiveness, the fact that he still has tons to learn from Kang Seok, and his fear of truly taking on the title of being a lawyer despite it being his dream job since he was only a child, hence why he sometimes accidentally refers to himself as a "fake lawyer."

He is too emotional about hit & run case. The situation is different with him in the past. Because the hit and run victim's family definetely telling him that they only need money for settlement.

That's why from the start, this case should not be handled by him. He can't avoid conflict of interest principe however professional he is.

Could be that foreign broadcast rights were not in the labor deal, so drama is shown in Korea and online, but not in other countries. If this is true then primetime dramas on KBS America are finished and we only get reruns. How sad.

This is why American tv is so far behind the rest of the world intellectually. Jang Dong Gun, as usual, is perfect in this drama, as is every other cast member. Try watching it for what it is and not what you want it to be. Dong Gun is one of the finest actors in the world, while the project may not be top notch, His acting always is. He is one of my favorites in any venue.

Side note...Hyung Sik wears sneakers as a lawyer... why?? His character, Yeon Woo, was given a credit card to buy what he needed... did he not need shoes?? LOL!

I love this drama... it is fast paced and the cast is wonderful.

I could not understand why Hyung Sik wears sneakers as a lawyer. One of the most important traits of a lawyer is that they are white-collar workers and they dress professionally from top to bottom. Wearing sneakers seems to disrespect the profession that he wanted since he was a child. There was even a case in 2013 where a lawyer in Romania got fined 1.2k USD for wearing sneakers to court.

Kaneki Ken May 11 2018 2:27 pm After giving it a try for 6 episodes (mostly fast forward), this is my personal verdict on this show.

The whole show seems pale in comparison to the original version.

1. The wardrobe is pretty disappointing especially for the women characters. I understand that this is a Korean show which has Asian culture which is much conservative but this is just way too much. The sex appeal from women characters that were shown in US version was completely removed.

2. The lighting for this show really shows the difference between Korean version and US. In US version, the color is more vibrant but in the Korean version, it seems that the color of the show is pretty dull in certain scenes but more vibrant in other scenes like elevator scene between Hyung Sik and Sung Hee which made my experience less enjoyable.

3. Some of the shot angles are mediocre. The scene that I got disappointed the most is when Hyung Sik was badgering Sung Hee during the mock trial in Ep 6. The scene was the defining moment for both characters relationship. In the original version, the scene was done so well that I still have goosebumps whenever I watch it. In US version, as Mike was continuously badgering Rachel, the camera slowly zooms closer to Rachel expression while intercutting between MIke and other people showing that the scene was getting faster and intense before Rachel repeated the same sentence that Mike said seconds ago with the room went completely quiet with background music. However, in the Korean version, the director only uses basis camera angle and relies completely upon the actors acting to carry the scene. The pace of the scene felt the same from the beginning till the end.

4. Flashbacks are rarely used unless necessary but in this show, they have used it several times in just 6 episodes. Flashback can disrupt the scene flow but if used correctly can bring value to the scene. For me, several flashbacks in the shows seem unnecessary and I was annoyed because I can still understand the scene even if the flashbacks are removed.

However, there are some merits of the show.

1. The opening scene for the episode title was nicely done with a beautiful sentence. It shows the show originality and also some really good lines.

2. Second is the portrayal of Loius Litt by Choi Gwi-Hwa which exceeds my expectation. He managed to understand the character and made it his own.

3. The music for this show is also great and really show that it is Suits.

I won't judge others characters as I believe that this is completely a different show which means the characters will be portrayed differently but I do hope that the production team will improve on their editing and shooting techniques as the show is still in progress to produce the best version that they could. Lastly, I hope to see more Chae Jung-An who act as the Korean version of Donna especially her interaction with Hyung Sik and Jang Dong-Gun as it was one of the main highlights in US version.

When I know this drama adapted from US version, I am so happy because it means me and my hubby at least have same topic to be discussed. Cinematography, story line, actor and actress. All are awesome. We have no reason not to like it except it has no K drama typical ambience LOL

Hyungsik have this kind looking person who would never do drugs kind of face while Mike Ross is an obvious fuck up. I'd say Lee Jongsuk or Nam Joohyuk would be a better fit for Mike Ross.

Anyway, I shall watch this closely. I'm a fan of Suits and I hope they don't destroy the drama.

V Apr 29 2018 1:25 am It’s alright, but not as good as the American one. The acting makes me cringe a bit, but so does most other Korean dramas. I’ll definitely watch a couple more episodes to form a better opinion, but I highly doubt I’ll ever like it as much as the other one, since the original version is one of my all time favorite shows. One thing I think I’ll like better about the Korean remake is Park Hyung Sik as the role of Mike. I didn’t really like mike in the original one because he was wayyyyyy to emotional and unprofessional whenever something remotely similar to his parents death would happen, like in a case or something, and that annoyed tf outta me, but oh well, hopefully Park Hyung Sik won’t get on my nerves like that. And one last thing; I don’t really like the colors they’ve put over if that makes sense, like a filter so that the colors aren’t as saturated. And I don’t think that Jang Dong gun has the same charisma as harvey, but overall It’s a still a decent show and there’s only 2 eps so far so a lot can happen.

But what i'm loving in k version is... the actors portray their roles as if its their own. Like they are not imitating someone, they are owning it. For 2 episodes, i like it. I'm really looking forward to a "witty" conversation between the characters because.... hellooooo it is the most interesting thing in Suits- the witty puns.

I wanted to know what Suits was all about, and I found it incredibly gripping. It also made me wonder how it the adaptation would work in a k-drama setting.

When the cast of the remake was announced one after another, I grew in anticipation. Now, after checking out episode 1 and 2 this week, I'm glad to say that the remake is heading towards the right direction, for me at least.

It's nice to see them adapting the story line into the k-drama setting with some minor tweaks and adjustments, but still stay true to the original material (can't miss the reference of the drug delivery / interview). The bickering and chemistry between Kang-seok (Harvey) & Yeon-woo (Mike) are on point, and it doesn't come off as rude to Korean audiences (in the Korean work environment, it's important for the juniors to be respectful to their seniors, and I was worried that this element might be sacrificed in the drama). Also, unlike the American Suits which kept delaying the prison scene, I loved how the opening scene foreshadowed Yeon-woo's imprisonment, with Kang-seok there to defend him.

The Korean version seems to have slower pacing than the original, but it still comes off as slick and stylish. The Korean Jessica, Louis, Donna and Rachel are also pulling off their roles, as far as I can tell.

I can't wait for the rest of the episodes, and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed until the series concludes.

I had the impression that Litt was completely incompetent when I first watched US Suits. He later turned out to not be as incompetent as I thought. I was never convinced, however, that he was up to Harvey's level in any aspect. My favorite character in US Suits is undoubtedly Harvey, however, I haven't kept watching anything coming out of Hollywood or western world since I discovered kdramas. For me, they just aren't as interesting as they used to be.

samtruth Apr 26 2018 8:11 pm @simglo: rachel wasn't split into 2 characters. there were two girls in the beginning - mike briefly dated trevor's ex, jenny, before he dated rachel, and jenny was actually a pretty big part of season 1. se hee is the equivalent of trevor's ex.

the US version of suits was a real vehicle for gabriel macht as harvey - it looks like in the korean version, park hyung sik as go yeon-woo is going to really shine. he's made the character completely his own - much more of a puppy dog feel than patrick adam's mike (whose portrayal I also really loved). jang dong-gun as choi-kang seok still feels like he's imitating macht in episode 1, but without as much gravitas or effortless swagger.

I don't like that the korean version of litt seems incompetent so far - I liked that in the US version, harvey and litt were like janus, both highly competent, but with different strengths and weaknesses. hopefully I'm wrong and litt won't be relegated to a 2-dimensional stupid villain.

I'll keep watching for park hyung sik - his acting has me convinced.

So far, it seems to be closely following the US script, yet somehow I am already preferring this Korean version. The scene where the two male leads meet is better done in this one, IMO. The only real change that I see is that they split the character of Rachel into two separate characters, and I really like that change. I like Lee Si Won as Se Hee.

I was wondering how the actors would play the characters and I think they are all perfectly cast. I honestly prefer the Korean version of Litt already. Did they exchange cats for fish? The other actors also are good in their respective roles, although we only saw a couple minutes of the Rachel character at the end of the episode. I am sure that Jin Hee Kyung is going to make a good Jessica. I was a tad worried about the Donna character, but what I saw of Chae Jung An made me think she is going to play the role just fine. Lee Yi Kyung's cameo was a nice surprise.

I recently watched All About Eve just for Jang Dong Gun in anticipation of Suits. After watching the first episode so far; I now have great expectations of Jang Dong Gun as Harvey. Let the bromance begin.

I have watched every drama Park Hyung Sik has done so far, and frankly he is the main reason for me to watch this. It is interesting to see Park Hyung Sik with such extremely short hair. In Hwarang he didn't even look real, more like a porcelain doll, and his most prominent feature there was his perfect nose. He looks much more "real" in Suits, his most prominent feature here are his ears; I am reminded of Lee Ji Yi's comments in High Society about his ears, haha.

I am hoping that now they have set the stage that they will begin to deviate from the US script and make it more Korean. The same goes for the OST. We don't need so many English songs. Towards the end of the episode, I did notice they have some original songs, at least two. I am hoping Park Hyung Sik will sing a song for this.

The reason why Patrick J. Adams is Mike Ross is due to the way he looks. He can look so cool in suits but look pitiful/ when in other outfits. I felt Park Hyung Sik is too handsome to be Mike Ross. When he not wearing suits even he looks cool, unlike Patrick J. Adams. I think having facial hair do helps for Patrick, not sure about Hyungsik though. I can't imagine him with beard.

I hope they can really make it work though as I will have high expectation for it.

P.S: I wonder who will take the role of Donna and Louis Litt.

I think park bo gum more suit for this role than phs. I love jang dong gun. He's one of korean best actor for me . But wahtever it is I hope phs can show the best of him for the sake of this drama.
