5 university students gather to exchange information on their job search activities. They encourage each other and post their thoughts & worries on Twitter, but behind that they have a lot on their minds.

Takuto Ninomiya (Takeru Satoh) observes those around him. His roommate Kotaro Kamiya (Masaki Suda) has a bright personality and communicates well with others. Mizuki Tanabe (Kasumi Arimura) is Kotaro Kamiya’s ex-girlfriend. Takuto Ninomiya has feelings for his roommate's ex-girlfriend. Rika Kobayakawa (Fumi Nikaido) is determined to land a job. Takayoshi Miyamoto (Masaki Okada) is critical of job-seeking activities, but he later tries to get a job.

Z Jan 11 2022 11:43 pm An insightful film about the circumstances of job hunting. It highlighted the difficulties of job hunting, the different viewpoints of people when it comes to searching for a job, and the various emotions that can arise throughout this phase of one’s career/life. Saying this as a soon graduate who's just starting her job hunt: most of these characters are relatable.

I can relate to Takuto Ninomiya (played by my favorite actor, Satoh Takeru) the most, and ironically, I really dislike the character's attitude (it might be better to just say his worst side, actually). Seeing how I dislike the character while seeing part of myself within him really makes me reflect on myself. It’s a good film to watch to remind myself of the disgusting emotion called bitterness, and how it can ruin relationships and hurt oneself. It makes me reassess my emotions at such times and reflect upon myself. At the same time, it's sort of comforting to know that this job-hunting phase of life is something that many people have to go through.

I like and appreciate the ending. It's not the typical happy-ever-after sort of ending, yet it's not a cliffhanger whatsoever. Like @kuroichou commented, it feels more like a revelation. One that is realistic about the journey of job-hunting.

kuroichou May 06 2018 4:04 am I just finished watching this movie, it is been a long time since the last time I saw such a deep and well-written movie. To some people, it might look like some very trivial events happening, without knowing where it is leading to, what it is for. But it feels like a huge roller-coaster for me, frustrating and filled with eagerness at first, but then when it reaches the climax, it feels like everything just falls into place.

The characters showed their worst side, covering them up in an energetic, enthusiastic, 'i-can-do-it' faces, the faces that they think the world would like to see, the 'nanimono' face. But there is so much to tell about a person than an 140 words twitt or an one minute self-introduction, this young generation is dying, struggling to scream out that they have much more to offer. This 'nanimono' cover up just frustrates and kills what they have inside, turning them to their worst side.

Half-way through the movie, I felt like calling for someone to help these people, but then 'someone' is 'nanimono' too. I guess the ending does not feel like a saving but a revelation, but it is enough. At the end, I just feel like I want to wish them all the bests on their journey.

The casts did a wonderful job, though they seem like they are not doing anything special, their subtle acts created this frustrating, angering feeling thorough the movie and it feels so right at the end. The theatrical characteristic of the setting, screening, lighting was commendable too, especially at the climax scene.

Overall, I would recommend this movie to anyone who is about to, or undergoing, or has already went through this particularly frustrating period of the 'all-about-myself' world to the 'nanimono' world. It will feel frustrating, but it is rewarding.

This cast is absolutely crazy, all of them are my favourite and no doubt I will ship suda and nikaido like hell in this movie. <3<3<3
