"Our Gab-Soon" takes over the SBS Saturday & Sunday 21:00 time slot previously occupied by "Yeah, That's How It Is" and followed by "Band of Sisters" on April 15, 2017.
First lead acting role for Song Jae-Rim in a network TV drama series.
First script reading took place July 2, 2016 at SBS Ilsan Production Studios in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
Lee Ha-Na was cast to play lead female role of Gab-Soon and took part in the first script reading on July 2, 2016, but decided to drop out of the series a few days later.
Kim So-Eun & Song Jae-Rim previously appeared together in 2014-2015 TV show "We Got Married."

Park Min Oct 22 2022 9:48 am The concept is fine but the execution is poor. All stories share great similarities with small alterations, there's a consistent pattern in these relationships where all males are bad/unfavorable and all females are victims/deserve better. The drama had an overwhelming number of cast members and an overwhelming number of small scattered stories, even though this is a long format drama but it back fired.

The lead couple are the weakest point for the drama. Them as actors, their story, their development, their resolution and the attention they were given all of which was borderline bad and they're suppose to be the "leads". This lead couple had a total, as I counted, 14 breakups/fights, my god I just wanted them to break up for good or die I don't care anymore f*** them! No wonder "Lee Ha Na" dropped out from being the female lead after the first script reading session. Speaking of which, the male lead Heo Gap Dol is the most pathetic loser I've ever seen, he remained a loser even at the end.

Let's talk about Heo Da Hye, the male lead's sister, she's one of the most interesting characters in the drama yet the creators completely destroyed her. From the end of episode 33 she was completely cut off abruptly from the drama with absolutely zero mention of her as if she never existed. Her mother, brother, kids, ex-husband all carried on as if she never existed. It seems like the character Ban Ji A became her replacement just for Soo Jo's sake.

The beginning of episode 34 marked a clear big shift in the writing and direction. The writer didn't no where or how to steer the ship from there, it took a random turn every now and then, some characters started to disappear for 4-5 episodes at times (including leads), the leads were treated like guest characters with minimum updates or attention, most cute moments became cheesy and cringe, half of the supporting cast rarely appeared afterwards, the whole story became too scattered and the stretch of events got too obvious as they were trying to prolong the series. One thing really bothered me is how the drama took a weird detour that included manipulating emotions in solving every single problem/relationship, rather than fixing them in a healthy way.

Can't recommend.

There is nothing positive or redeeming about this screenwriter's works. She needs therapy.

This drama is one of the worst in all the kdramas I have watched.

This drama resonated with me because I've been through it. Just no complicated inlaws or money hungry mothers... well, not to that extent. The external family involvement got a bit excessive and was a bit overbearing for me to handle but the characters had their own reasons to why they did what they did.

Anyways, the drama was good, not great; simply because it was relatable and a reflection of reality. 7/10 Love from NZ !

raby Mar 25 2018 3:30 pm Omo omo omo this is such a love hate drama for me. Gab Soon and her love interest are so horrible to watch, always fighting about childish things. How can they even think about getting married? Just a joke to be honest.

It's a family drama so thank god there is more in here than two kids fighting all the time.

All in all this is not the best drama ever made ._. sorry <3 Everyone worked hard so thats worth mentioning!!!

This drama not flaunting or specifically featuring any chaebol snob, or stupid silly highly over power conglomerates (who usually always exist in most K Drama and bring disaster plus torturing to the lower class people). No, this drama simply highlighted the true meaning of life: its simplicity and its beauty. Our Gab Soon simply point out about the importance of love and family and the effort of Ordinary People (not chaebol) with their struggle day by day to pursuit their happiness. Simply put, this drama featuring realistic matters in life, which can be happened to anyone, to any people in anywhere, which presented really good in this drama. 5 stars rating not enough for this drama, I give 10 stars.

zombie Feb 23 2018 1:15 pm got disappointed with this drama and dumped it by half way i was waiting for a story line to develop from the 2 main people gap dol and gap soon as the title suggested but it never came instead there were hundred of small stories of other people not connected to the main people so this drama didnt go anywhere big waste of time i can only guess that the writer is a rookie with no experience at all usually korean dramas are very entertaining that make you get hooked up and wanting to watch more and more certainly this drama was not this case

joynijom Jan 28 2018 7:04 am To whoever who is planning to watch this but is hesitant because of it's length (61 eps). Don't worry, it's worth it!!! I finished everything and it all turned out well for all of them. But that's not the only reason why I recommend it.. First, because the show is something we can all relate to, even if I'm from another culture, I feel them.Second,and because of this drama, my perspective in life towards my family has changed-- my parents and siblings with their actions and decisions-- even with the people around me. I think I understood them better now. Thank you Our Gab-Soon!!!! Finally, because of this drama I realized that indeed love knows no age. Hahahaha!!!! Happy watching!!!! PS. I finished watching it in 3 weeks.

It's really good that I realized that other Kdramas out there were just too petty, always portraying the fairy-tale type of love story. This show is just too relate-able because they show scenes of the everyday ordinary life of ordinary people trying to live and love as human as possible, especially how I realized that our FAMILIES are not perfect but they are the best people you could ever have. On a side-note, I personally loved Jae Soon-Geum Sik love story. A feel-good ending was the best too. <3 Everything is just too awesome. I cried with them, laughed with them and ate with them(eating while watching them eat). Much love from the Philippines.

Kim Dec 12 2017 8:36 am Actually this drama title doesn't suit for this drama itself. This is family drama so you can't aspect the story just focusing to Gab soon and Gab Dol. The truth is I preferred Jae Soon and Geum Sik story, i annoyed with GS and GD scenes especially when GS willing to be with her wealthy BF even that stupid guy treats her like dirt.

Mav Aug 27 2017 4:22 am Kinda disappointed with drama. To be honest I only interesting with this drama because of Solim. I think they should name this drama "Our Jae Soon" instead of "Our Gab Soon". Because they just made Solim as the second lead character, gave Solim appearence not more than 15 minutes per episodes, just for a grueling bickering scene, what the heck! I just hope, if only they had taken advantage of the incredible chemistry of Solim, this drama would surely get a higher rating, that's my opinion.

The characters can be annoying and so are the relationships, but they are really realistic. I haven't seen such a realistic drama until I watched this one. If you have the time and patience and are open-minded, give this drama a try. It is very entertaining and realistic. I really recommend :)

This drama will make u so annoyed u're gonna hit ur head against the wall a few times right after u started watching it... My only least hated character would be the comical/obnoxious aunt. Other than that they all are so annoying and frustrating. the lead couple are the most annoying, wasting my time with their unending breakingup/makeup sessions.

I thought she will be Soo Jo's husband in the end, I'm a little disappointed because she portrayed the character really well but eventually out of the scene. However I was disappointed with the title from the beginning. Our Gabsoon, in fact Gabsoon not play a major role in this drama resolve the issue. She was submissive and afraid to hurt husband . I think Uncle Do-geum major role to solve the problem. This first drama with 61 episode successful I follow. I do not just like the main character but other actors are also very pleasant. None of the characters that I hated in this drama. I love all caracter. Ourgabsoon success. Goodbye ???

Nicole Apr 09 2017 1:58 pm @Madman 999 Ban Ji Ah is played by Seo Yoo Jeong she is an amazing actress she was in a drama called the unusual family and yoona street and Kim You Ran is played by Ah Young she is in a K-Kpop girl band called Dal Shabet.

Overall this drama is really good but they should have left it at 55 episodes it got long and boring and I was only watching because of Geum Soo-Jo and Ban Ji Ah roles which were interesting don't worry it is a happy ending and a loved watching it. Heo Da-Hae which is played by Kim Gyu-Ri left the show because of the extension and the way they were going to portray the character she didnt like it so she left that why Ban ji ah came because geum soo-jo was going to fall in love with dae hee so they got a replacement.

Anyways loved Kim So-Eun & Song Jae-Rim Strong and natural couple acting .

MM Apr 03 2017 12:30 am I watched this drama since episode 1 and fell in love instantly. Despite the ups and downs, heartbreak, annoying characters and plots; i just cant drop this drama just yet. We are entering the last week for Our Gab Soon and i can finally say that the only couple i am seriously rooting for is Jae Soon and Geum Sik. I think Geum Sik and Jae Soon's parents are plotting for something and the 'wedding' is actually attended only by their own family. I know the plots are draggy and repetitive, but i dont know, i love their dynamics.

I love how this drama potray all characters that have their own strengths amd weaknesses. Well, nobody's perfect. It relates with so many people and shows how those behaviour impact our future. The only thing that I wonder is why da hae character suddenly dissappear? They can develop the character more. Some korean dramas will do this if they got problems with the actor/actress.

Sup Mar 09 2017 2:14 pm I watched ONE episode for lee wan (bc he's an excellent actor, too bad he's always seen as kth's brother) but what the fuck is up with this drama? They are perpetuating that stereotype about asian women, men and relationships. No, this is not just "asian culture" and "we should understand". I am a south east asian and yes, these are actual depictions of what's happening in Asia in general. Do i condone their behavior? Absolutely not. From the forced kiss, decisions not made by themselves, staying in messy relationships......they could at least address these issues in a positive manner like gentlemen of wolgyesu tailor, father is strange and so much more. They could have taken on a different approach to discussing such issues/depicting the everyday life of asian families. I can still stand the typical makjangs bc i know how that shit goes and how it will end, but this? Nah.

there are a lot of good actors in this drama tho, they just took on the wrong project.

dabria Mar 08 2017 1:02 pm This drama can be both dramatic and humorous, which is really refreshing. Contrary to what a lot people think, I think it's interesting.

Although character development in this show is very gradual, which can be frustrating, it is present. People don't change overnight.

Every character's love line is knit together with one of another character, which sparks an interest in all character's stories, unlike some dramas.

I find myself binge-watching this. Would recommend.

The writer wasted a lot of time. And I'm mad because there is nothing that impressed me and I though I was supposed to be funny but it's really not. It's honestly a disappointment. Even Golden pouch is better then this. Sigh~ Wished the writer had different and better Ideas for this drama... The Actors are great but the drama isn't to my liking. Ignore if you must But I got really stressed watching this drama.

SonMi Mar 04 2017 2:17 pm I'm actually enjoying this drama. It depicts somewhat of the toxic relationshis that people deal with. For those who are questioning JaeSoon's character, because she can't seem to make her own decisions and let's her parents decide things that you would decide personally on, may not understand Asian culture. Although I'm not of Korean culture, being the oldest, I feel I have a duty to my parents. I'm 24, and yet I'm still asking my parents if I can go out with friends. Sometimes my mom would make decisions for me even if I don't agree with it, but I know I have a duty as the eldest daughter to just listen. Naturally the youngest of the bunch, GabSoon does what she wants. She's free spirited and even though the parents try to control her life she doesn't let it happen. The middle child, SeGye is of course in between. He was controlled at first, by being married off to a well off family by his father, but ended up not listening to his mom, and telling her off about how money isn't all that. I'm sure the "middle child syndrom" as my sister calls it, is triggered in that episode.

I also love all the supporting role's and their "love lines" and how they are all somehow connected. All in all I like this drama and the actors and actresses. I hope to one day screenwrite a family drama.

This show with lot of big name actors portraits Koreans, especially women, as nothing more than materialistic parasites. Marry a guy with money, divorce him when he goes to jail (but does not know that he is in jail), marry another man because he could pay her debt, divorce him when he goes bankrupt, remarry the first husband because he now seem to have lots of money and, I'm guessing from here, will not marry the first husband when she founds out that the first husband doesn't really have any money but reconnects with the second husband because he is no longer bankrupt. All this is happening because she is a 40 year-old woman with no back-bone and still lies to her mom because mom still controls her, "marry him, divorce him, marry him". Wow, Ko Du-Shim always played smart character but here she plays one-dimensional character who is all about money when it comes to her kids partners. This drama had so much potentials but it just fall-back to all the stereo-typically story-line and characters that fills k-dramas. So disappointing...

This show started very decent but now it's just irritating. I truly hope that what's happening in this drama is not a true reflection of what's going on in Korea. According to this drama, people are judged solely on how much money they have or can make. Can't adults over the age of 30 make any decisions without their parents Just too much!

I'm actually not to like watching drama, moreover this drama had long episode and new genre i watch for me. But i tried to watch the first episode. Okay, that's not bad then i watched this drama until 9th episode. I felt this drama little bit bored and cliche. I disappointing for them, not to their acting or chemistry, but can they had drama which could better, get high rating and popularity ? I wish if they're in rom-com drama and the episode at least till 20. But i still ship them so hard. Good luck for both of them.

At the beginning of the series to drama was awesome and very entertaining, but now towards the middle it's starting to get boring and repetitive. Every scene with Gab Soon and Gab Dol is getting annoying. I mean, I know their relationship lasted for 10 years but now every time Gab Dol sees Gab Soon all he does is tell her that he doesn't want her to be in the housecleaning service and how his mother wants him to marry a teacher. Like hello? We've heard this lik3 a THOUSAND tines. And everytime they meet it's the same old thing. If Gab Dol really doesn't want his wife to be a cleaner then the scriptwriters should just break then up for real instead of dragging the relationship and making viewers go through the same conversation every time. There's always so much drama in the household. Gab Soon's mother (whom I find really annoying) is yelling and barking at her husband all day long. Her husband wants to divorce her, and only after some time did her personality become nicer. And all we get out of Jae Soon's marriage to her husband is scene after scene where Jae Soon misunderstands that something is going on between her husband and his ex wife, because his ex wife ALWAYS happens to show up at the wrong time. I mean, the incident that finally did their marriage in was the car accident, and who caused it? His ex wife. Why? Because she very coincidentally showed up at the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean, could this get any more cliched? Personally though, I'm rooting for Jae Soon and her 2nd husband to get back together, because I quite love them as a couple and now that her husband's kids are nicer to her maybe they'll finally have a shot at living as a real family.

Her boyfriend is a moron loser. Her aunt is terminally annoying. So sick of hearing about her "hard life". Jae Soon's husband only married her to have a housekeeper and nanny for his spoiled rotten brats who abuse her son. His ex-wife is a greedy, selfish tramp, and his sister is a shallow social climber. The Geum guys are stupid, lazy opportunists with no values. So are Se-Gye's wife and mother-in-law. I feel sorry for the father-in-law. Gab Dol's mom is totally delusional about her kids. They have nothing going for them and will always be losers. All these people are constantly yelling and screaming at each other. There's NOTHING positive about any of these relationships. Very depressing drama. I'm not watching it anymore.

Song Jaerim and Kim Soeun are both outstanding in their flawed characters. Their emotions are heartwrenchingly and beautifully portrayed. Bravo!

But then I decided to give it a try and i began to like the story and the performance of all the stars. They act like real life characters, very natural. The story shows the good and bad side of each character. Another plus factor of the story is the love and care of the members of the family toward one another. Each one may be doing something bad outside his/her home but you can feel that he/she values her relationship with his/her family. Blood is really thicker than water.

Yoo-sun is my favorite, she is so pretty and looks slimmer now. Her clothes look so good on her, very neat and fresh.

I really, really pity Gap Soon but I want to pull her hair off for sticker to her lazy, dumb boyfriend.

I do not care so much about the rating and I hope the story will not turn out to be draggy considering the number of episodes.

But as time goes by the main actors together with the supporting actors provides flavor to the drama and gives important lessons about life, love and family. This drama is all about reality, the real and common scenario that happens in a family and relationship between two people. I really love the chemistry of Jae Rim and So Eun :)

I know, she played the lead role for two or three dramas, but unfortunately people always 'sleep' on her just because she's casted in unpopular ones. The only drama they will think of when seeing her is BOF and BOF. =_= Hope the storyline will be not disappointing even tho the chemistry between these two is already known by many WGM's viewers. Her acting talent is such a waste for webtoon dramas and supporting role.
