Ikuo and Tatsuya are orphans. They live at Mahoroba’s house which is a child and family services home. At their elementary school, they see Teacher Yuko, who took good care of them like a real older sister, killed right in front of them. Ikuo and Tatsuya tell the police what they saw, but the case is covered by a police officer wearing a gold watch.

15 years later, Ikuo (Toma Ikuta) now works as a detective. He is a good person and his arrest rate is the highest at the police station. Meanwhile, using his handsome appearance and cleverness, Tatsuya (Shun Oguri) becomes a high ranking yakuza.

Detective Ikuo and Yakuza Tatsuya have a singular purpose, which is to find the man wearing the gold watch, dig out the truth and reveal the dark side of the police organization.

I know it's an awesome drama judging by the cast but it exceed my expectation by a mile, awesome strong story but the ending though ... why it had to be that way? why ?

yaohoow Jul 16 2019 3:22 pm Superb acting by all casts (esp. Toma and Shun). Still wondering how can they find 2 kids and 2 adults who could show these similar personalities. Their acting (from child to adult) looks real for me.

Toma and Shun convey all emotions such as anger, frustration, madness, sadness really well. The crying scenes would break your heart.

Set aside the solid acting, the story line of this drama is interesting. It is hard to predict what will happen next.

I highly recommend this drama !!

PS. If you re Toma fan, I just finished watching the movie "Close-Knit" starring Toma. (I dont like this kind of movie, I mean I am not into family theme drama or movie but since the reviews from another forum said the plot is worth Oscar, so... I tried watching it lol). Personally, I found it a great movie (I could say Best J-movie for me so far). The plot was well-written. The actors convey the message really well. I have mixed-feelings after watching it and I have realize something important from the movie. I am glad I watched it. ^^

Zun Jul 15 2018 8:35 pm SPOILERS!!! Am i the only one who cried for hibino-san.. At the end, she was crying like crazy after she found out that ikuo commited suicide. I cant help myself after seeing a great acting by hibino. It made me felt really sad with her, first losing her mother, then her father. So long after she didnt open her heart to anyone, at last she opened her heart to ikuo. She even told ikuo that she would be living with him and then he just simply commited suicide.....

Execellent drama but then the ending is not what I expected.. So sad. :(

a Jul 01 2017 11:49 pm this was my first Japanese drama after years. it was so sad, tragic, and bittersweet. I've never seen so many plot twists in my life. My jaw kept dropping. I have trust issues after watching this show. to be honest, this drama was slow the first half for me and I was about to give up watching it. But I'm glad I decided to keep on watching it because the second half got way interesting and good.

I actually put this on hold for a while, but I picked it up again recently and finished it like that. What a ride! HE lived just because of Tatsuya...he was his everything and only person he was attached and connected! This is just my personal thoughts and I must say I love this drama, Toma ( ofc Shun too), soundtracks, and the end was more realistic as if everything ended happy!! ( ofc I cried tons of tears!!! My poor Ikuo-cchi :3 I have another trauma for rest of my life ) Toma you are the best actor ever!!!!

I would understand if Danno is so affected by Yuiko Kashiwaba bec he loves her more than just a guardian. But for Ikuo to commit suicide? sorry it really bothers me why

This drama revolves around revenge, and about killing. Ikou and Tacchan, they both kill to avenge one important women who was killed 20 years ago. No revenge story has a happy ending, especially if plot revolves only around revenge, I really can't imagine Tacchan living normal life after this, even he said that there is nothing waiting in the end of his revenge. But Ikou, he still has a chance, we can totally see those vibes around him and Mizuki, so i think they'll end up together and might even live hapillyever after. Tacchan, i think he'll kill himself at the end (idk for sure!! it's just my thoughts on this drama) Of course, we'll see what's going to happen, drama is a lot different than original manga, even characters, Reading manga i have a feelling of happy ending, but not a drama... i just cant imagine it.

Juri Ueno is so beautiful and i love her interaction with Ikuta Toma <3 i've downloaded the theme song (Hideakira Kimura) and ending song (Arashi - Sakura Sake). it's great. these songs somehow made me remember the story of Ouroboros. :)

The ending absolutely wrecked me but no spoilers :) Indeed this is one of the few Japanese dramas that have really kept me intrigued, I watched it at first just for Toma and Oguri Shun but I've got to say aside from them, all of the cast had superb acting... Juri was absolutely amazing and beautiful in this drama.

I'm have only watched two episodes and so far but they have both been pretty good. Aside from Ryoko Hirosue, the cast was largely unknown to me. But they did a really solid job so far. Especially the two main leads. The cinematography and editing reflect the tone of the story very well. Even the second unit film crew seemed to have solid talent. As to the plot...well, it is a revenge story and the basic outline is fairly predictable. But how it gets there can be quite interesting. And so far, I'm interested.
