Thanks Randolph Jul 11 2023 5:09 pm Concerning the Extraordinary Attorney Woo; Of all the Korean drama that I have had the pleasure of seeing, I have like this one the best. It shines a light on a group of people who get unfairly bunched up as a whole of those who are autistic. I believe that most think of the character in "Rain Man". Even in the worst of situation, her way of thinking through the use of visuals of whales and dolphins, is uplifting and refreshing. It is a series that I believe will continue to do great in Korea and in the United States. I really will like to see how the Attorneys who have coupled do in the second of what I hope to be many seasons. And if there was only one season of the series, I would have nothing to add. But according to some press releases, a second season is under planning. I would like to share with you some concerns about this second season and I apologize in advance if some of my remarks will sound impertinent to you. The fundamental question is whether season 1 has left enough "space" for equally good or better season 2? WYW, the main character, said fiercely at the end of season 1 that she felt "accomplished". And in fact, she had accomplished so many things (too many?). Despite her autism disorder she managed amazingly well in her professional and even personal life. In the last episode, she reconciled with her boyfriend, dealed with a nation scale law suit and solved a critical issue involving her mother and halfbrother. What can be expected more than that? That's why the general tone of season 2 have to be considered carefully in order to prevent the series to slide from the trustworthy story of a woman overcoming a disability to an unlikely show of "wonderful" woman. The positive, bright side of the autistic main protagonist was already so strongly highlighted in season 1 that continuing simply in that direction may unfortunately give an impression of fake. And bring disconfort to that part of the audience which is expecting more than just a comedy. I am sure that a lot of people expect more than a comedy, including the actors and actresses. In my humble opinion, WYW should show some more weakness, fragility and introversion in order the character to gain in credibility and in psychological thickness. She should face personal and professional issues which are not immediately and easily solvable in order the series to gain in drammaturgical tension. And this is why, the second season should generally have a little bit less of a comedy and a little bit more of a drama. The right balance between the positive and brighter side expected by the large audience and the darker real side, between attractivity and plausibility of the series, will be a real challenge for season 2, and a real challenge for you. I wish you sincerely to succeed in this difficult task. You know certainly the american medical series "The Good Doctor". In my opinion EAW1 was better than TGD generally, but TGD stepped easily from one season to another because the film focused on the main character, on his struggle to be just a "good" doctor, a reliable and helpful physician. I think that EAW2 could also focus more on the commitment of WYW to become a "good" lawyer, without much extravagancies. It is Attorney Woo who have to be "extraordinary" and not the cases or situations she deals with. Her perseverance, her strength, her failures and her struggle to adapt to other people should be more exposed. Too sophisticate and too intrincate legal, corporate or family situations are not really necessary in my view. I hope that I have not offenced or annoyed you with this writing. The issue of a second season remains - fans will almost demand one, but Park Run Bin's comments on this (or at least those attributed to her on various social media outlets) are spot on: how do offer another season of EAW without being repetitive or doing something different? My suggestion: a two or two-and-a-half hour movie, set in the US. To an overworked mother, the drama brings relief and joy ; to a 30-year old whose country is going through political instability and violence, the drama gives hope ; to a teenager who has ADHD, the drama reinforces his belief that anything is possible; to an elderly retired teacher residing in an old folks home, the drama warmed his heart and brought a smile back ; to the students, the working professionals, the social workers, the politicians, the caregivers from all-around the world, the drama reminds us that we are more alike than different. And then perhaps, surely we can make better decisions, we can right a wrong & be more understanding of each other, for such is the power of a movie/drama. The cast is an amazing combination. The characters of the story and the story itself is exciting. I watch RDTK, and this show my second medical drama after Surgeon Bongdalhee... I love Surgeon Bongdalhee and i like to keep watching RDTK.. the passenger Mar 27 2016 4:05 am I have watched a lot of drama especially korean drama and I have to say that Director Yu In-Sik is on another level, especially on "Incarnation of money" and "History of the salaryman" he raised the korean drama directing to an artistic level that's very rare to see nowadays. Everything in these tow dramas was perfect the camera work the acting the storyline the plot the consistency in style and mood, cinematography was top notch and not to forget coloring that added a movie like feeling to the whole thing, I especially appreciated the long shots with camera movement and theatrical acting those shots were like gems to my eyes. I hope that he'll get to work with Jang Young-Cheol and Jung Kyung-Soon the writers of those tow dramas again because together they made the best story plots in korean drama.
