A huge thank you for retracing the life of this great lady from Korea. We went to Korea thanks to your series because we have a painter friend who was deeply touched by Saimdang’s art and his personality. Our friend was also very inspired by the landscapes of Seorak and of course by Mount Kumgang. But beyond that, there is the love story, and since we discovered the story, it shows us that Prince Uiseong certainly went to Italy, since Rubens painted him, and we would like to know a little more about his life in Italy, if he left paintings in some Italian museums and especially also where he ended his life, under what name and where can one find his tomb. . If we could discuss with you about this, we would be delighted and why not meet you during our stays in Korea, it would be magnificent. Thank you for your understanding and once again all our admiration and thanks for your magnificent work. BMR39 Apr 03 2018 9:55 am Saimdang-Light's Diary is a beautiful drama in every way: visually, emotionally and with deep acting. I still think about this drama from time to time. Screenwriter 박은령 shows us Saimdang as a profound individual, a great and loving mother, an exceptional artist and a genuine leader born out of harsh circumstances. At the heart of the relationship between Saimdang and Lee Gyeom is the higher form of love expressed by Poet John Donne to his wife Ann in his "Valediction" poem before leaving on an uncertain trip to continental Europe. In the same way that Lee Gyeom leaves Korea unhappily for Italy. Screenwriter Park elegantly and lightly tells about Donne's poem towards the end of the modern story, but she leaves it to us to think about Saimdang and Lee Gyeom. Beyond the sweetness of physical love which Saimdang and Lee Gyeom cannot achieve, they do reach the unity of their two souls that Donne expresses in his 1600 poem: "Our souls therefore, which are one, Though I must go, endure not yet A breach, but an expansion, Like gold to airy thinness beat." A beautifully written and well performed drama. Thank you, screenwriter Park. Claudia Bañuelos Mar 23 2018 3:07 pm I loved Saimdang. It is really a great series and I would like the opportunity to speak to the screenwriter. There are many things I´d like to discuss with her because this series, despite is located in the 16th century, has many things that are still current. Congratulations from Mexico. Razali Mohamed May 09 2017 9:18 pm Tq, your drama is perfect...love them all.... Tq to all involed in making such beautiful dramas... Diane May 07 2017 11:47 am Parallel universe forever? Seriously? I think you, as a writer, should be put in a parallel universe facing yourself eternally, with no hope of ever writing again. That would at least be justice, unlike what you delivered to Saimdang & Lee Gyeom, who did nothing to deserve this illogical fate. br39 Apr 12 2017 6:17 pm Saimdang is a beautifully written portrait of a great lady. I find every episode enlightening and inspiring. The dialogue between Saimdang and the feeble and insecure king Choongjong in episode 23 is powerful and led me to write this note. Every great life is built on the dreams of a child nurtured by a mother. So is a country. The bizarre low ratings given to this superb drama by the Korean viewers is baffling. I hope that this new generation of Koreans will not stop dreaming in spite the adversities that are part of any life. This drama explains to me the values that permitted the Korean phoenix to rise from the ashes of a bad 20th century. Apconie Feb 24 2017 5:31 am Thank you for Saimdang. Madeleine Whitfield Apr 11 2016 11:48 pm Go Mrs. Go is a fantastic program. I've been binge watching it on Netflix ever since it appeared on their site. I've got only two episodes to go and will be sorry when it ends. Good stuff! Categories: Screen writersSouth Korean screen writers Page Discussion View View source History
