So tired of all the squeeing about cardboard cut-outs and their totally implausible (and sometimes downright stupid) conversations, actions and motives. Yes, I know people will say "they are just k-dramas, hence pure escapism", but why insult k-dramas by expecting nothing but fluff from them? Why not expect something like A New Leaf, which deals with things that really matter, and is full of characters that seem like real people (yup even the intern played by Park Min Young)? As for Ms Choi's criticism of the Golden Time cast: well, it's quite possible that she's a thoroughly unpleasant human being. But I don't think she could have been unaware of her "low status on the totem pole" (in the words of Celia M below), especially considering the small number of credits to her name. Which, to me, suggests that either she was roaring drunk when she made those remarks, or she really believed that some of the actors were messing with the story. Or both. And I don't buy all that sexist stuff about her being a woman spurned jenna rosen Jan 10 2015 10:33 am Choi Hee Ra: I was so disappointed that New Leaf got canceled and wound up with truncated ending. I thought you did a great job that would have been even better had the show been slotted for two seasons to give you, the actors and the director time to handle this complex material as well as the emotional arcs of a man finding/reinventing himself because of amnesia and romantic story line which would have been given more depth I am sure. This was a terrific show in spite of being hung out to dry. Your cast and director did very well by you and I thank you all for your fine work. Duane Akert Sep 04 2013 6:48 pm javabeans: Because it’s crazy, right? To be the writer of a successful television drama (in this case, scriptwriter Choi Hee-ra of MBC’s medical series Golden Time), and then give an interview bashing all your stars and calling them puffed-up on ego pills? Omg, she totally called them pigs. Okay, to show you all that we aren’t just exaggerating for the hell of things, let’s quote things verbatim. Here’s one gem: “From the midpoint on, I couldn’t trust the actors so I even took away some scenes from them.” Or this: “Each actor has his part and is supposed to carry along the story and then step aside. That’s what a lead actor does. But once he started getting more popular, the lead character started to get ruined. He started to get drunk on his popularity. I thought he was like a stuffed pig.” Celia M Sep 04 2013 6:45 pm This woman bashed her leads in the script Golden Time. In so many words she called them pigs. What is it about scriptwriters that they get such a big ego. All they are is scriptwriters: low man in the totem poll.
