Detective Won-Ho (Cho Jin-Woong) looks for missing person Seo Young-Rak (Oh Seung-Hoon) and he also chases after Teacher Lee, who is the boss of a drug ring. Brian (Cha Seung-Won) and Seob So-Cheon (Han Hyo-Joo) appear in front of Detective Won-Ho. Keunkal is the the only one who knows the real identity of Teacher Lee.

Maiko Apr 10 2026 1:38 am I watched this immediately after the first one. Just like what the guy before me said, the recast was the least of this movie's problems.

The first movie, imo, was already a complete story. This never should have been made. This especially never should have been made the way they made it. They fleshed out the story for this sequel by ripping out the organs of the first movie.

I love Tzi Ma and I was pleasantly surprised to see him here. But he should never have been in this in the first place.

I've been on a binge of Korean action films for the past few weeks on Netflix, and this by far was the worst I've seen.

It's not just a matter of replacing Ryu Jun Yeol and out of character Rak but this whole movie is shitty itself. The threw a bunch of unnecessary plot into this including suddenly the mute woman is suddenly blind when in the first movie she wasn't at all. They were still producing drugs in the snow. The first movie already concluded everything. Rak and his two right hand people died and only the detective survived by how after killing Rak, the screen showed a car drove down the snowing road (indicated that the detective finished his job, survived and going back to Korea). But in this new movie, suddenly the detective died together with Rak.

Not to mention the unnecessarily made up "the real" Lee seongsaeng character, when the first movie already confirmed that Rak was the real one. There wasn't any scene in the first movie that indicated Rak killed the new Lee seongsaeng to get revenge for his parents. He literally started becoming a drug lord bcs he resented his parents from drug overdose but this movie said that his parents were poisoned and he wanted to avenge them??? Lmao this movie almost feels like a joke pls don't waste your time!

If you rewatch the first movie and also this second one consecutively, it will truly make you boil bcs of how much things didn't make sense.

Who knows maybe they threw a bunch more of nonsense throughout the whole movie bcs i only watched the first 30 min and the last 10 minutes. Couldn't bear with it at all!

I hesitated for a long time to watch bcs of the negative reviews and girl they were all right! Whoever decided to come up with this bs must've been laundering money on this garbage ? they ruined the first movie by coming up with this garbage

Hhhhickeyy Feb 03 2024 10:19 pm Gosh this main detective won ho pisses u off to no end like this guy sees his colleague talking to his wife n being overworked, but he still pulls him in, he is told to lay off the case yet pursues, now there is a whole huge gang of gansgters and high level gangsnters with huge guns and this guy has just 1 cop on hisnside wjo he knows has a small baby to raiae and they have these tiny guns yet he drags him into that gun fight, like his cop partner tells him it would be risky yet this clown pushes him to go and fight them, like it is common sense you can't win against them then why even go and risk urself n other guy that finally all criminals will run away and on top of wasting energy get his partner killed, like who would do such decision making? Even for a film it was very bad writing and instantly took me out if the film. Won ho really deserved a bullet in his head for what he did to his partner, but he should have been given that bullet in first instalment of film so that no more people would have gotten hurt. One really asks why make a poorly written remake and above all why ruin the main character so badly, even in first part of the film won ho was quite a useless and dumb character who lacked basic knowledge, that film was carried by jin ha rim, his gf, brian and sunchang actors , even mr lee wasn't bad, even in 1st part one keeps questioning what is the importance of this cop guy, he is always relying on info anyone gives him and doesn't do anything on his own.

And replacing Ryu Jun Yeol was the biggest mistake like bruh... even with Han Hyo joo and Byun yo han, it couldn't be saved. Disappointed. Actually, it's a good thing that Ryu didn't participate since the character didn't feel like Rak we knew from 1 at all. Where's the cold-blooded, manipulative mastermind Rak gone?

Cook Nov 21 2023 10:30 am Sheesh, I didn't think it was as bad a what these viewers are saying - I didn't think it was bad at all. Other than the horribly animated trucks driving in the forest (like watching a 1980's video game), I thought this pretty good. Not the kind of ending we like, but one that suited the characters, (bit of a spoiler alert) both of whom knew their ongoing life would be a living hell.

Joe Nov 20 2023 10:55 pm This was terrible! The ending was terrible & the whole movie completely shits on the original movie. Yes, there were a lot more action but the retconning of the plot was so haphazard and at times nonsensical. The whole mystique of Mr Lee was completely ruined when he was finally revealed. Don't get me wrong, Tzi Ma is a great actor & definitely has the gravitas to play the big bad but his character was badly written. The trailers built up hype for Han Hyo-Joo's new character but in the end, it was wasted. Seob So-Cheon not only had no impact but was really just a petulant child looking for daddy's approval turned pyscho - didn't really add anything to the overall plot.

All in all, a waste of time and it would've been better this movie didn't exist at all. I certainly don't acknowledge this sequel, for me, there is only 1 Believer movie.

Shard Nov 20 2023 8:26 pm It's important to note that Believer 2, whilst a 'sequel' to Believer, was written and directed by different people than the original.

It is very clear that they had a different vision in mind, and have changed important aspects of the storyline to fit this new vision. The film is more action oriented, and the characters have seen slight shifts also.

I think this film loses a lot of what made the first so good, and the changes in the direction of the plot are very unfortunate. It does feel like this movie shouldn't have been made, and that Believer (2018) is the full and enclosed story. I wouldn't consider Believer 2 to be the 'true' story, but rather something else, written by someone else and just... not it.

ash Nov 20 2023 3:03 am i just finished watching the movie and let me just say although the first movie was the best, this movie was not up to that level but contradicting to that I actually really enjoyed Han Hyo joos acting, his mannerisms and his speech were so good, i wish he was there in more shows/movies but the thing is ryu was actually the best person for this role because we already saw his acting in the first movie and so it was a bit confusing to get used to. everyone did such a good job with the acting but I feel like what was missing was the plot, the mr.lee that they showed had no significant impact on the viewer imo because he just suddenly appeared after everyone hyping him up. i did not like the reveal because it was so casual, they should've made an interesting plot twist kind of moment where they reveal someone that important to the movie. the ending where everyone dies is such a shit ending but at the same time it ties everything up neatly, its shit because obviously we are attached to these characters but I guess they've all served their purposes and that's the ending they wanted.

It started when they changed Rak with someone who doesn't resemble him in any kind of way...then very confusing scenes and all you see is a bunch of messed up turns, looked like the cast gathered for one day and everyone put some low key ideas for shooting a second part because the first one was very successful but yeah this one is trash for sure

lluviayviento Nov 17 2023 4:35 pm Watched believer 1 in 2018 because of cho jin woong, the storyline and plot twist was very good with hanging ending. Believer 2 seems more focus on action than storyline but not a bad movie, it's just concluding part 1 ending. 7/10
