Soon-Jin (Jang Shin-Young) works as a school teacher. Her father owns a modest chicken restaurant Jinsim. She has two younger sisters: Soon-Soo (Lee Tae-Im) and Soon-Jung (Nam Bo-Ra). Since her mother died, Soon-Jin has taken care of her father and her two younger sisters. Woon-Tak (Bae Soo-Bin) owns chicken restaurant franchise company. He has a secret crush on Soon-Jin, but he can't display his feelings due to a conflict between his father and Soon-Jin's father. Then, Soon-Jin's father passes away and Woon-Tak approaches Soon-Jin. Without knowing Woon-Tak is connected to her father's death, she marries Woon-Tak.

Soon-Soo is the second daughter. She has an attractive appearance and majors in piano at a university. Due to her poor family background, she feels miserable.

Soon-Jung is the youngest daughter. She is proud of her father. She becomes involved with two men: Soon-Cheol (Lee Pil-Mo) and Do-Hoon (Oh Chang-Suk).

"My Heart Twinkle Twinkle" takes over the SBS Saturday & Sunday 22:00 time slot previously occupied by "Birth of a Beauty" and followed by "Divorce Lawyer in Love" on April 18, 2015.
Early Korean working title was "Jangsaui Shin Lee Soong-Jung" (literally "Lee Soon Jung, the Goddess of Sales”).
Kim Jung-Eun and Kim Soo-Ro were cast for the main character roles, but dropped out of the project (prior to filming).

Kristine Sep 17 2024 8:10 am Can someone explain to me how not rescuing a person when it would entail risk of injury or death to yourself is a criminal offense? Is it cause he didn’t call for help? Could I be misunderstanding things for the translation?

The husband could not go against his mother. Honor thy parents. That is why skip to the end in such dramas. I can’t believe all MILs are this nasty to people. It is a cycle. They were treated nasty so it’s their turn to be waited on hand and foot. But this constant over the top shown in dramas and the fact no one is home for work and school makes no woman really want to marry. The baby’s dad can’t be a murderer or the baby will be mistreated from school age into adulthood.

rizqueena Mar 12 2021 11:30 pm I like this drama but I think WT didnt sincerely love his wife. how could he let his wife be treated as a maid by his mom and sisters?? if he had really loved her, he wouldnt have let anyone disrespect his wife and he wouldnt have stayed at the same house with his toxic mom and sisters. and soon jin also didnt really love her husband. her feeling to him was not love but just admiration at first and it became fear and anger in the middle and pitiness in the end. when they made love, I saw soon jin didnt enjoy it but she had to do it as a wife's duty and fear of her husband but eventually she still accepted him coz of her son not because she loved him.

saranghae Sep 27 2020 1:24 pm i was looking for a drama that contained the word twinkle and found it but in the search process this drama also came up and i was so surprised to see that ive seen this quite long ago by about the time it came out at that time i was fairly new to kdramas so i didnt know about ratings or production or sites that give info about dramas etc i still remember that i liked this drama very much liked the plot and casting but i felt like it was kinda of weird and short by the end that something didn’t connect well that left me with some questions? and today i think i found out the answers　to some questions 1st the ratings are so appalled for a family drama that was made for mainstream I mean for most of the viewers and like for most good family dramas that always score from 20 to 30% those NRs for this drama I can not comprehend and today I also learned that this drama was cut short from 50 to 26 epi which is like a death sentence for any drama and this also explains the weird part of the ending and I know that this abrupt end was due to the NRs no drama can survive this slaughter feel sorry for the poor people involved with this drama I think they all went through a big nightmare at that time I think this good drama was doomed from the beginning I also learned that there were rifts and scandals between the cast in and out of the set but I don’t know if this had to do with the ratings in all I think this very good drama was ill fated from the start that good fortunes were not on their side I wish they can redo this drama from scratch with new production team new actors etc can it be possible???????

Jinjoo Sep 09 2019 9:49 am i finished this drama last nite & enjoyed it! the ending was good and i just hope there's gg to be a sequel! i was really impressed with Bae soo bin's acting here, he was so natural & very convincing in his role! All the other characters or actors did a great job as well! I find this drama very addictive & if you haven't seen it, you're missing out on this! That's surprising that it didn't make to the top 20? ummh SK viewers are strange! This drama has good moral lessons & once you're done with one episode, you don't want to stop!

Jinjoo Sep 06 2019 11:26 pm i'm currently watching this drama bec of bae soo bin and lee pil mo, both are great in their roles, it's quite addictive and bae soo bin's acting was fantastic as always! this is a must-see drama altho i'm not sure why it didn't do well in SK? i highly recommend not only bec of the story itself but the actors all did very well esp BSB! he shld've won an award here but not sure why he didn't! His acting was intense and very convincing!

Mya Jan 26 2017 4:57 am This drama is very emotionally heavy. I found myself crying, screaming, laughing and awwwing at so many scenes! However as the episodes go along, it gets more and more serious and i found the main leads' relationship to be very conflicting and problematic even though I shipped them for most of the drama.

Towards the end I just wanted the main female lead to get together with the secretary, he proved to be a man who actually appreciated her rather than her own husband. Her husband was very charismatic at the start, but damn he's a seriously messed up man. He let her father die and he did a lot of bad stuff with his growing jealousy and obsession over his wife.

lrt Jan 01 2017 8:08 am This drama took me a very long time to get into mainly because of Soo-Bin's weird hairdo that finally went away by episode 12. It is worth hanging in there as it really does get interesting the more you watch!

The ending was okay as the lead characters will eventually get back together for their son once Woon-Tak is done with his prison term for the next 5 years. Although Soon Jin said she would not forgive him for her Father's death, she still loves him deep down inside & she will wait for him....When he's done with his jail time, she wants him to come back into their life & be a part of their son upbringing to give him a better life than how Woon-Tak was brought up.

There are many touching scenes that made me cry but funny ones as well that made me laugh. Overall, I enjoyed watching it!

I really enjoyed the storyline, it is interesting and educative, although it was no rating when it was aired, but in my mind this is the best among all of those Korea dramas even those with high rating！ the male lead did great job, and all the supporting casts as well！

LOVE THIS DRAMA Oct 08 2015 11:39 am Yes i love this drama!! I feel more entertained by chun woon tak's little sister (aka the biggest sister) hahaha she's so funny yet cute. I really hate it when everyone was against chun woon tak. Especially when Soon Jin ran away from him & his employee backstabbed him. The old man in the prison really spoiled everything!! Wrong timing lol. Should have let soon jin give birth first. I wanted to see woon tak's family's reaction toward the baby. (Sorry i just finished watching ep22) i'm here supporting chun woon tak's role eventhough he has an evil side :p Last but not least, i would like to request season 2 for my heart twinkle twinkle #nohate :)

An Jun 17 2015 6:36 pm Im happy with the ending haha i know WT is such a evil psycho guy but i was rooting for SJ-WT from beginning to end.. but yeah i agree that the story could've been better.... it would have better if WT personality going better and nicer through the episodes, not the cliche bad-guy-gone-nice-because-the-girl-is-nice kind of type, but because in the beginning SJ said that she believes him that he is human that have a good sides... but please to all kdrama producer or director out there, give bae soo bin nice guy main role :'( like in shining inheritance but make him the first lead guy!!! and my final thoughts is that i hate, really hate when korean drama irresponsibly remove a good character like soon soo because the actress had some simple scandal.. i mean wtf??

noona Apr 16 2015 3:06 pm The beginning was just so so, but after 7 or 8 episodes I got totally hooked on this drama. I really loved the main characters. It doesn't happen very often in a drama that the main lead is evil. And Bae Soo Bin is such an amazing actor. He shows Woon Taks complex character so well. You hate him for all the awful things that he had done, but at the same time you're fascinated by his deep love for his wife which is kind of bordering on obsession. So it's a shame that the drama got cut off. Nevertheless it's really worth watching!!!

stella Apr 14 2015 7:47 pm Worst drama ever. The story starts with the young girl being obsessed with making fried chicken like her father. After some trials she opens a restaurant and she has no clue why her chicken tastes bad. The oldest sister is basically a rag doll being kicked around by the in-laws and abused in many ways by her husband. The main actor has to facial expressions: anger and blank stare leading up to anger. It was a royal mess. The three women of the leads household and the aunt of the three girls were just horrible screaming dumb banchees. The youngest girl started out with potential and the ended up making her a childish, useless whiner.

The writer seemed to buried her character from middle episode up to the last...she never emerged till ending although I think Soon Soo character is one of a significant plot to the story as 2nd daughter...so at least the writer should have a plot for her in the ending...like during CWT trial or a uniting capture between sisters...

What he fells for her is obsession and not love. am only watching this movie because of the youngest sister. she is the only wise one in the family. wish their father is still alive. just pissed with this movie.

fifi Apr 02 2015 2:42 am So that's why the wife got sooooo intelligent in episode 18 (so suddenly I must say) because the show will be cut short from 50 to 26 episodes...and that's because of poor ratings (why this show has poor ratings? I just don't understand). Too bad, because I really love Bae Soo Bin in this drama, he gives off mixed feelings, I'm either thinking of him as a man who has always hated women in general, because of his heinous mother and sisters therefore he genuinely loves his innocent, good-natured wife, or I see him as a vicious spider who concocted the perfect web for his fly (the wife), so I'm really confused about his character. But I love him anyways. And it's true that in real life things are never only black or only white, people are a mixture of evil and good at the same time. In order for him to be good, he could have shown his support to his wife and move to a separate house with her right from the beginning of their marriage, but no, he had to make sure she is kept in check by his heinous mother, keep her domesticated and submissive in that spider web. And slowly get his grasp on the other sisters, by offering the middle sister an apartment and bring the younger one to the same house. Only the younger one got away. And with good reason. I was truly curious to find out how would the wife react when she would find out who really was the man she married. And I wasn't disappointed, she really played him well! Class act from the wife on ep. 18, even though a little bit too late, she's pregnant now with that heinous spider. I'm so so curious if she'll keep the baby, given the circumstances. She can still get rid of it now when it's not too late into the pregnancy, so I'm really curious what will she do.

I just hope soon jung (bo ra) and soon chul (lee pil mo) end up together. and woon tak pays for what he has done. It sucks this show didnt complete to 50 episodes.

Just finished watching episode 20, and I still love this one. Go figure ... It must be on opposite a couple of really great dramas on the other channels because this doesn't make sense at all! kurage Mar 23 2015 3:45 pm I continued to watch this drama because of Nam Bo Ra. For now, I'll just pretend that she's the main actress instead of her stupid and weak sister. The only character that I can't hate for now is Soon Jung...the rest...I feel like slapping or killing them already. Soon Jin is just plain stupid and meek, which is the type of character that I would hate the most in the drama. As for the actress, sometimes I can feel like she doesn't know how to act, especially the beach scenes in the early episode which made me cringed. Soon Soo is basically the most evil sister and unfilial daughter you can get. She's basically in denial when she knows that ultimately she's the cause of her father's death. But then, she kept on blaming her sister. As for the aunt, too greedy and pushy, and some more very annoying.

Nevertheless, I've only watched until ep 4, so I'm not sure how the characters will grow. But then, I think I would still hate Soon Jin lol. I'm not sure if my interest will die soon or not (stupid/meek and too evil characters often turn me off), but so far, I'm still pushing myself to watch it because of Soon Jung.

Why is Soon Jin so docile? Her mother-in-law made life hell for her for so long and she just kept mum? And her husband, he knew but choose not to do anything? Does this kind of situation really exist? Soon Jin is/was a teacher, meaning she is educated, why is she subjecting herself to a life as such? Can't she stand up for herself even if the husband doesn't stand up for her?

And she is kept at home like a maid while mother-in-law attends all function in her stead? Can't she (Soon Jin) fight for her rights, to appear as the wife in public?

Since they are so rich, why is she being treated like a servant? They can easily employ a domestic helper

Hmmmm, really really don't understand

I just keep hoping there will come a time where he will be the lead great Good Guy! But he has such a handsome evil face. Anyway Soooooo glad I gave this a go and marathoned 10 episodes then drooled for more... It is heartbreaking but the females are fighters and the teenager is sharp as a whip and totally adorable. The mom in law is wicked so I know the writers will properly put her into her own personal hell by the end, right? I hope in my twinkling heart that others will catch on to this awesome show and it will start reflecting in the ratings. The Actors Writers et. al. deserve more than NR!! Chins Up Ya'll!

The complex personality of the main male character is very intriguing - it keeps this drama fun to watch. But, at the same time, it is so tiring to see the same old abusive mother-in-law and the timid daughter-in-law relationship. I will keep watching unless the main male character turns into a complete controlling freak.
