Seo Ki-Joo (Joo Won) is a photographer and runs a small photo studio. He is the 7th owner of the photo studio and the shop is only for ghosts. Seo Ki-Joo takes portraits of the ghosts that come into the store. Meanwhile, Han Bom (Kwon Na-Ra) is a lawyer who is passionate about her work and does not tolerate injustice. Somehow, she ends up in a partnership with Seo Ki-Joo's photo studio. The studio also has two employees: Assistant Manager Go Sung-Ho (Yoo In-Soo) and Baek Nam-Goo (Eum Moon-Suk). Assistant Manager Go Sung-Ho is in charge of bringing in ghosts as customers and Baek Nam-Goo is in charge of taking care of small chores around the store.

From the soundtrack to the content, everything is amazing, ahhh my eyes filled with tears. Without a doubt I would give this drama a 10/10.

It may not be my preferred ending for Mr. Baek, and also for Jiwon’s love story, but you know they love the characters as much as the audience, and all of that shines through. Especially the sweet ending for Bom and Ki Joo

Like they're having a drink at night, and then suddenly they're going home when the sky is bright, not that it took them til sunrise to drink. Or they're at the bridge at night and took them to mid day (again it doesn't look like early morning) to get to the hospital. and other instances.

portia Jun 22 2024 11:35 pm I binge-watched the first 10 episodes of this drama because it was actually very good, the script, the cast and the acting blew my mind. However, episode 11-16 starts to get "boring", although I was not expecting who the villain is, most of the scenes did not really keep up with my expectations. It feels like this drama would've been better as 12 episodes. I felt like they're dragging the plot to fill the 16 episodes. Anyways, this is my first Jo Woon drama and I still really enjoyed watching this.

Aiz Pam Jun 04 2024 10:30 pm Just binged the first 6 episodes of The Midnight Studio and boy what a great drama. It feels refreshing to have a kdrama w/ a plot like this again. A shop for ghosts sounds feels like the 2011-16 era. I always love the emotional side stories of ghosts and the family they left behind in every episode, it really pulls at the heart strings.

But the story that blew my mind away the most was that of Bom and Grandma. In the first 2 episodes, Bom came off to be petty and kinda annoying, but in the next episodes, as soon as it delved into Grandma So's point of view, we finally understood why Bom is the way she is. Grandma was pretty unforgiving towards her very own, her one and only granddaughter. Did y'all see how ghost grandma bossed Ki Joo around as well as Mr.Baek and Asst Mngr Go? She was ruthless, it was hilarious. The apple does not fall far from the tree indeed.

But what really broke me was how these two strong and independent women finally showed their true heart before they said goodbye. I especially loved that scene where Bom’s head was on grandma’s lap and grandma said “Do you want to sell tteokboki with me?” Man, my tears just kept falling and falling, until they said their last goodbyes.

I already know Kim Young-Ok is a great actress, but Kwon Nara is a revelation. She just stole my heart as Han Bom. Bom as a character excellently brought out all emotions there is. At first, she annoyed me, then made me feel sorry for her, grieved with her through her loss, swooned over her as she finally sympathized with Ki Joo and his circumstances, ROTFL when she piggybacked unconscious Ki Joo (geez they’re so unserious), and I just love how she was always straightforward with her feelings and actions. She never held back, even when she was rejected previously. Bom is definitely the kind of partner Ki Joo needs. Otherwise, if she didn’t push on to break down his walls, bro would surely just die single at 35. At least now he finally got his first kiss (screaming!!! they were so cute!!!), can’t wait to binge the next episodes next weekend :D

I’m truly falling for Kwon Nara in this drama, and when I finish this, I will surely binge all her previous dramas. What drama of her should I watch next?

Shai Jun 01 2024 9:46 pm I knew this drama would be worth the wait. Episode 4 was my favorite of all. Especially the scenes with Grandma where Bom cried buckets just reading the lines in the script reading video. Definitely saw Kwon Nara in a different light, she nailed all the emotional scenes, I cried buckets along with her. In the BTS, she even kept crying even when the director already said cut, lol.

Beth May 11 2024 7:11 pm I really enjoyed this drama! Did I cry pretty much every episode? Yes, I did. I really liked the concept, that the dead can come back & take a finale photo with the living! I think that’s what made me so emotional, wishing that you could do that in real life! The acting, directing, and storyline was great! I think it had a good mix of a little comedy in there for light relief in between all the emotional scenes! It, of course, has a super happy ending for Han Bom and Seo Ki Joo, which I am so thankful for. But I think the other characters had their own version of a happy ending too. Would definitely recommend it! Another best thing about this drama aside from the main message? The chemistry between Kwon Nara and Joo Won. Their affectionate scenes are so natural between couples in their 1st 100 days. And the kisses, my god, smoldering fire.

Jungle_fish May 11 2024 10:01 am Ep 1-2 are so so but it's getting interesting starting ep 4, and reaching its peak in ep 13.. you have to endure the first episodes then you'll think it's so fun. Joo won looked so good with KNR here, and I love the couple of Yoo in soo and Lee bom sori, the character det. Baek is also interesting

Rosa May 09 2024 6:35 pm This drama is such a gem. It showed us that not all happy endings are the same. Han Bom & Seo Ki Joo's ending is what everyone hopes for, a future together. But the 2nd and 3rd couple got their happy endings too.

Although Jiwon and Seungho's situation is weird, as long as it works for them, both are happy with each other's company, it's well and good.

The 3rd couple, Jin Na Rae & Mr. Baek's end was tragic if you look at it in a lense we see of the main couple, but in the end, his soul passed away just like he lived, in the service of society & justice. It was a sacrifice he knew was right, and happily chose. His ex wife also moved on & the light in her eyes came back with her new job. And we know she'll find the love that she was looking for someday, and she knows Mr. Baek has given her his blessing. So I think, all 6 of them had their own version of a happy ending :D

The pairing of #KwonNara and #JooWon is great. There is genuine sizzling chemistry between Han Bom and Seo Ki Joo. All their affectionate scenes looks so real. Couldn’t help but squeal in excitement everytime Han Bom and Seo Ki Joo kiss, touch and hug. My fave pair and my fave drama of the year

His performance brought the character to life so strongly, keeping me glued to the screen throughout. His incredible acting abilities immersed me in every scene, and I can't wait to see more of his work in the future.

It's nice to see her in bubbly and funny character once in a while I'm really starting to become a fan of hers. . And Kwon Na Ra is an amazing female lead, her acting improved a lot than her other popular dramas. Kang Insoo is the best cast too and Um Munseok both best in acting and the Joo Won of course he is always the best and still the best even now. I love this cast and I think everyone nailed their roles. The Chemistry of the main lead is also Amazing! I will watch till the end

But good thing the preview shows they’re already celebrating his 36th birthday, but bad thing because although his seal/scar is gone, it looks like Han Bom has now been chosen by the camera, as expected. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

With all these mystery that is yet to be solved, I love that we're getting a lot of romance between our Safe zone couple to balance it all out. I love that they're so natural, like how it really is with new relationships, skinship galore, surprise kisses, impromptu hugs and the whole nine yards. One thing is for sure, the romance is romancing, & Nara & JooWon's chemistry is off the charts

1. Beautiful storyline/idea. Cry to many times because of every ghost story. But, the most painful is of course the main lead stories. Ki Joo, almost at the end of his life, finally found his true love. Bom-i, who lost everyone, now find happiness and live her life with a guy who will leave her. Also don't forget about Go and Baek's story. Criessss~~ ((some part are crazy funny. My favorite? The Aespa Dance in police station~~))

2. Acting! No one (I repeat) no one can even doubt Joo Won acting. Before your oppas, he already the OPPA in every television series. He is the legend. Every 'old' kdrama lovers' know him (maybe I'm a little bit exaggerate so forgive me - I just love him very much). Also, Kwon Nara is perfect female lead. She is the one: funny, witty, sometimes a little bit flat, cries a lot, but I love her. Chemistry on point. Other actors/actress also perfect, no worries.

3. OST. Almost all songs are sad song although some are love song. When I hear the opening title song, the sad vibes already there. So please prepare some tissue. Search these songs in Youtube: K.Will - All of My Time, Seungmin - Destiny, Elaine Kim - I Wonder Why.

4. Moral story. I know some of you maybe doesn't care at all about this stuff but if you love series with a lot of moral story, to give a meaning into your life, etc this drama perfect for you.

Everyone, life has been tough. Some good times fly away like dream. We lost our loves one. Or one day they leave us. Before that time comes, take lots of photos with your precious one.

She was so good that I felt it was damn real I couldn't stop myself from crying. Thanks to that clip I got to know an amazing drama like this

Kinda bland and forced. Im more interested in his two assistants life story, way more interesting esp deputy go's search for his first love.

They are like two cherry trees that have reached their blossom, and whose beauty you feel almost privileged to see. Sometimes the cameraman would zoom on their faces in the most common of situations, for example when the two are sharing a calamari dish. And I would think to myself: Just the look in their eyes and the steam coming out of the calamari dish make this common scene absolutely stunning, and redeem any imperfections in the script.

It would felt nice if the drama goes like 'finally i found my destiny, the one i searched the entire time,' like Master's Sun.

But well, that's the only disappointment. The other things are good. The way it gives a heartwarming vibes makes it outstanding. 8/10 for now, and I hope it gets more exciting.

BUT... I was intrigued in the drama itself, so I gave it a try in the end... and... I like it (although I'm scared of all types of ghosts... even if they're not the serious kind).

Yes, it's different from other trendy genres lately. The acting is good, the editing is nice... and I WILL continue to watch this drama until the very end (though it's sad to see so many sad scenes) T_T Life itself is tough already.

Anyways...

Those 2 assistants, it's gonna heartbreaking episode for sure when they have to say good bye to Ki Joo.Yeah, of course he gonna be saved by her,right? Anyway, I watched it because of Joo Won but I like it even more when In Soo in this drama too. It's a bit funny to me every time he said 'ak-hee/evil spirit' because I like him in 'The Uncanny Counter' so I guess he and evil spirit sticks together. Haha.

The backstories of the ghosts are heartbreaking, and the goodbyes are just bittersweet. I bawled my eyes out, much more so next week when Han Bom's grandma will pass away. Can't wait for Episode 3.
