Go Eun-Zo (Lee So-Yeon) is a promising fashion designer. She wants to become a designer who makes people happy like her dead father. Due to her friends' betrayal, Go Eun-Zo loses everything. She vows revenge on those responsible for her tragedy.

Beta Nim Sep 10 2024 11:07 pm The fact that this story takes inspiration to the actual original story "The Count of Monte-Cristo", I expected FL to be with 2nd ML. The ending is a bit rushed and was hoping that they added an extra 1-2 episodes.

Even though the main character had a successful revenge however, her relationship with her loved ones are ruined and messed up. It is understandable that she tried to take her own life even though she failed to do so.

Park Min Feb 04 2023 3:09 pm Goddamn! It turned out to be even worse than I thought. The drama had a decent production value and had Lee So Yeon & Choi Yeo Jin as leads so I had a tiny bit of hope but not long after few episodes I was met with a disappointment after another. Both male leads were the weakest part of the cast, might as well bring random dudes from the streets to act. I can't take Choi Yeo Jin for an evil role. I'm way too used to her goofy vibes in other dramas. I could have cut the atrocious writing some slack if the ending was passable which unfortunately it wasn't. The last 10 episodes and the ending proceeded to deliver the ultimate disappointment. One of the laziest bullshit endings out there. The writer opted to press the reset button after we have gone through 100 episodes! It's unfortunate how the drama turned out to be because I was looking forward to see Choi Yeo Jin as an antagonist.

AJ Jan 05 2022 10:35 pm So ... among the four daily dramas that are eligible to compete in 2021 KBS Drama Awards, only "Miss Monte-Cristo" ended up empty-handed.

We can say that this drama's male leads are quite weak. But to me, with regards to its female leads, it was very marginal between Lee So-Yeon and those who ended up winning the "Best Actress in Daily Drama" categories. So, tough luck, Lee So-Yeon.

... ... I know that the ending might not be of everyone's liking, but to me, it is the only plausible and "liveable" outcome for Eun-Jo. Granted that she had carried out her revenge more or less completely and fulfillingly; but having also burned the bridges with her family and loved ones, what's left for her to live for? Therefore it was somehow "right" for her to try to take her own life, although she failed to do so, and ended up with totally forgetting all events of the last five years.

All in all, compared to some other scandal-themed or revenge-themed daily dramas (especially its direct successor, namely "Red Shoes", which is much more poorly written and poorly paced), Miss Monte-Cristo is still quite a decent one to spend your 40 minutes every day to watch.

Peter Noedig Jul 15 2021 2:51 am As a retired US Attorney specializing in Criminal Trial defense, I took quite an interest in the allegations that could be made against the main characters. I believe I could so successfully convince the court that the first death from the dropping from the bridge was not intentional and at the worst would be involuntary manslaughter. The failure to give the medicine to the dying father might be defended on the fact that neither girl were medically trained and therefore had no legal duty to do so. However, if the girl withheld giving the medicine to the father who could have used it on himself, might also be voluntary manslaughter. The others appear to be more premeditated, and those the best I could do is try for a negotiated guilty plea. I downloaded the English version and saw them all in succession over a two week period. Epis 99 and 100 were a big surprise, I could have thought of something different.

sissi Jul 04 2021 7:13 am This ridiculous. Why would Sun Hyeok at Eun Jo bedside 24/7 for 1 yo instead of taking care his own kid? The writer is trying hard to get them together. Once she sees the kid she will ask question. What they going to tell her ? lies? The writer should have let her live her life without Sun Hyeok. I hate this kind return love in kdrama. I am glad this is the final epi. all we can do now is to infer what will happen. I would stop watching at epi100 if the drama had more epi.

kdramafan Jul 01 2021 3:16 pm epi 99 oh my goodness what an incredible great epi the writer took me by surprised i wouldve never imagined what i saw anyway i knew something very big was gonna happen in this epi so i just couldnt wait and ventured to watch the epi virgin i mean no subs hahahahaha i couldnt understand anything and that was very disillusioned disappointing cz am watching kdramas for about 10 years almost on a daily basis i thought i could probably understand about 30% or so omg it was zero zilch nada not even body language could help me i was totally lost but it didnt matter i watch the whole thing didnt miss anything cz the action was so hectic and i knew something big was happening until the last scene omg omg i dont think nobody couldve ever predicted what happened and all of a sudden i have tears rolling down all over my face not cz the scene was sad or anything i think it was the surprise or the unknown i guess i think watching the translated version will be much less intense i guess anyway this experience made me think about the translators how fine a job they are doing without them i dont think i wouldve never been able enjoying this so much and i heard they are all volunteers that they are just doing it for the love of their country which is praiseworthy cant wait for the final epi

kdramafan Jun 29 2021 6:08 am epi 94 omg omg great epi didnt expect it this good starting with the ddm queen fiasco serin paid for all what she stole from eun jo　but the revenge on her dad tae sik was much even better the vitamins placebos hypochondriac story was great never expected it this way the excruciating suffering is much better this way than just killing him so the writer score big points here I still have the last week of the drama so im looking forward to enjoy that when this ends im gonna mis eun jo very much

AJ Jun 29 2021 4:08 am Well, just like most (if not all) 100-plus-episode daily drama, inevitably there have been some draggings. But compared to two of its predecessors (namely, "Fatal Promise" and "Man in a Veil"), the draggings in "Miss Monte-Cristo" have been done in a 'smarter' way, in my opinion.

Also I quite like it that in this series, the domestic assistant (maid) is given a more prominent role and character, compared to in many other dailies.

kdramafan Jun 23 2021 12:07 pm epi 90 omg wow great epi this has to be the peak of the drama something really bad happened here which was a totally unexpected turn of events somehow the writer redeemed himself but just a bit i still have not forgiven him for all the blunders up to this epi omg omg im soooooo sad i want to cry with eun jo and console her how pitiful this is but this is gonna make the ending really good eun jo is gonna come up with extreme full force with no mercy oh no upon those 3 evil wenches only 10 epi left but it feels like it will need some extension maybe 2 or 3 more epi cant wait for eun jos rage to placate her deep down hatred hahahaha

LOL. 10 left series and you must have been make it so quick to get rid of all those villains of JeWang Group's . kdramafan Jun 18 2021 1:22 pm epi 86 omg omg i like this epi not cz it was good but cz it clarifies lots of things but first i want to curse the prickly writer for misleading me big time for 85 epis somehow i knew up to this epi that jina was behind the swapping of identification of the 2 girls that washed out the river cz jina was there looking for her daughter by the river and saw this opportunity when she saw eun jo washed out too not that far away after checking for eun jo survival she put eun jo coat on her daughter with her id inside but in this epi it showed a completely different story first there was a scene where jina and the real ga heuna were in a heated argument over the phone and she said she will never see her again this cause ga heuna wandering in distress around the fields close by the mental hospital where she was interned and escaped in the next scene she was walking like she was lost in the back country wearing only a long white pajama in the middle of the day and not that far away eun jo was running wearing the yellow coat then they cross path and started talking ga heuna said am so cold and eun jo gave her her coat which had her id inside one of the pockets and after they depart probably ga heun got closer to the river and fell by accident when this scene ended my head clicked then I understood how the 2 ended up exchanging there identification it was very different from what I knew so far omg I think id been cheated id been corralled to think the way they want me to think anyway these scenes explain how ga heun was wearing eun jo yellow coat with her id inside so when police recovered the body it was proved that the body was eun jo cz the face was disfigured so this help so far I was very frustrated cz lots of things didn’t make sense to me but I think im up to date with the plot now and

im just started feeling better looking forward

for a good ending

AJ Jun 18 2021 6:47 am I'm at ep 84-85 and it's frustrating, Eunjo used to be able to predict what the enemies did by spying on them etc and I LOVED how she was outsmarting them, but now she's a hapless sitting duck completely not aware of anything they're plotting...

In general I'm not sure why the revenge is taking this long because they have everything they need to reveal everything Serin and Hara did, I know she wants to build up to some "revenge finale" but at some point you have to wonder what's the point in waiting this long

Also the "comedic" scenes with Serin's dad are unbearable, I dont them when he's never done anything redeemable in his life, but then again there are so many things that don't make sense like Bomi's inconsistency, Na Ukdo being able to break into Gina Hwang's house like that, and the endless product placement scenes... I loved this show and I'm hoping for a non-disappointing ending, but that may be demanding a lot

Deitra L Pawley Jun 18 2021 4:51 am Eun Jo is in a coma(preview for today’s episode) if she survives this, I don’t think she’s going to just forgive Hara, Serin, Ms.Geum and Wook Do , even she doesn’t get full on revenge, she’s going to want justice, not just for what they did to her, but they killed her baby, her father and her adoptive mother, their murderers, it’s not as simple as just stealing a fiancé or plagiarism of designs. Also even if Eun Jo doesn’t get revenge, it seems like the secretary might get revenge for Ms Hwang.

Jamse Jun 17 2021 2:58 pm I like the way the evil witches turned the tables and so openly gloat about it, it will make the final payback all the more sweet But the drama is annoyingly hinting that Eun Jo will come to see revenge as not worthwhile and will become her old "sunny" loving self, forgiving her tormentors. kdramafan Jun 16 2021 5:27 am i have 16 more epis to go not much time left to explain all these puzzles first from what i remember from the initial epis the real ga heuna and eun jo never cross paths in their lives before her deadly plunge off the bridge so they never knew each other and if my memory is not failing eun jo was wearing her pink wedding dress not a coat during the fall but when she washed out of the river she was found wearing a coat i can understand that jina put on her the coat that she knew it was ga heuna and some id but this means jina knew for sure that her daughter was dead but now why jina is hesitating so much about ga heun being alive when that lady told her that she has seen her 5 years ago but the most enigmatic thing for me is the yellow coat i only remember that eun jo was taking it in her car to give it to bomi but was intercepted by the lackey na wook and snatched it from her i still dont know what was the purpose of this why he took it? anyway i believe everything will get clear by the last epi am looking forward

Deitra L Pawley Jun 15 2021 5:30 pm For people who are confused So the real Ga Heun is dead, she came across Eun Jo and Eun Jo gave Ga Heun her coat ( this was before Eun Jo’s “death” that’s why the body was identified as Eun Jo because her (Eun Jo’s) identity card was in the coat ,but the face was unrecognisable so everyone assumed it was Eun Jo. Miss Ji Ni Hwang came across the body of Eun Jo at the river her daughter had gone missing, since Eun Jo had no memory at the time Ji Ni Hwang told the people at the hospital she was her daughter and once Eun Jo regained her memory, Ji Ni Hwang said she would help her with her revenge against Hara and Serin . Hara is Hoon’s mother , she used his birth to trick Sun Hyuk who was engaged to Eun Jo to marry her. It was Ms Hwang who made Eun Jo into Ga Heun, unfortunately Ms. Geum, Hara and Serin are taking advantage of Ms. Hwang’s dementia to get Eun Jo kicked out all the while knowing full well that the real Ga Heun is dead , they’re not just terrible, they’re full on malicious and I hope they get their comeuppance,it’ll wipe the smug smiles off their faces.

kdramafan Jun 15 2021 4:36 pm epi 84 omg omg the writer is doing an excellent job to confuse me i still dont know who is the real ga heuna and who the hell is soon ji i only know eun jo for sure but looking at the situation now she might not be eun jo at all omg i am totally lost omg and jina is also acting very strange like if she is having dementia she is very confused and this is confusing me too whoahahahahahha looking forward for the big ending with lots of fireworks the intrigue is excellent

kdramafan Jun 10 2021 6:04 pm epi 81 if this is 100 epi then we are getting into the final stretch i just feel that this drama went very fast and now is about to end with a big mystery the real ga heuna nobody knows if she is dead or alive or is wandering around with a sort of amnesia or what?? i dont know if jina is making a big story about her she said she died in a big accident lbut i think what she said is a big lie but dont know for what purpose looking forward for a big splash ending hahaha

Since finding out the truth about his mum’s death, his entitlement has been on a whole ‘nother level. The nerve of him to treat Cha Sun Hyuk as his personal servant. “You should protect me” protect your damn self big man child -_-

kdramafan May 15 2021 1:46 pm epi 61 wow the epis went flying that means am enjoying this drama very much just just like the previous man in a veil this is past halfway already but this is my first comment kbs hardly disｓaｐｐoint me they always score top ratings i guess they know how to do things right and how to pleased the viewers my fav actresses in this drama 1 bomi 2 serin 3 grandma first time seeing them except for grandma all the rest are really good too the 2 leads and the wicked mom and the suffering mom respectively　I like ha jun too Usually I find 2 or 3 people that I don’t like so I skip their appearances but in this drama I like all of the casting and that’s great cz I can watch the whole drama hahahaha something very curious happened to me when I see oh haras mom she reminded me of somebody since the first epis but I couldn’t remember no matter how much I concentrated so its being months since this is bothering me until finally my head clicked a few days back it was Wilma of the flintstones cartoon series she was freds wife it was a long time ago that’s why I couldn’t remember I was a lil kid at that time her voice eyes nose cheeks her Hair style futuristic outfits her mannerisms are just the same and her slender figure complete the whole resemblance omg omg thanks God I got this out of my head hahaha

Cui-hua May 14 2021 10:29 pm What’s with Chairman Han (grandma) not being able to speak. There are so many simple ways to communicate besides oral. Firstly there’s the basic pen and paper. Secondly, there are good speech apps that people with speech disability use to communicate. Don’t they have it in Korea? Unless the grandma, Young-are is illiterate (which is impossible as she is the chairman of a conglomerate)... even then, pictographs can be used. Sigh.....the drama so lacking in practical ideas. The technology that the ‘fake therapist’ used seems expensive, hard-to-use and ineffective.

The whole series is becoming such a joke and so annoying. The writer, Hye-won needs to come up with better convincing plots... be more resourceful. We, the Viewers are not dumb. Thank you. so remaining episodes will not be a bore and annoying!

paul May 13 2021 9:44 pm i know very well that this drama is makjang but the writing turns out really bad. i’ve been watching this series since the first ep until now. the plot getting ridiculous.

gaeun wants to get revenge but constantly showing the emotion towards sunhyuk like miss girl, calm tf down. finish your revenge then do what you want instead you choose to get teary eyes everytime talking to sunhyuk. then, gaeun keeps revealing her identity to the people around her. im pissed ?

and in these recent episodes, cha bomi is really angered me. is she fool? dense or what? let gaeun decides what she wants to do. very selfish. she lied to hwang jina, blurted gaeun’s secrets, keeps ruining the plans and everything she did and may do will destroy the original plan.

i hate seeing gaeun with sunhyuk. to me, hajun deserves her more than sunhyuk. gaeun constantly saying she wants to torture sunhyuk by keeping a secret about their child 별 but she already told him at the camping site and now she decided to come back as eunjo. what in the effin world?! the writer forced the plot to make sunhyuk and gaeun meant to be by makes sunhyuk involved in every ‘rescue’ scenes. hajun is the one who siding with her all the times and even improve his personality. idk but the writer should write the plot better before the ending or else this drama is just 광.

BAKATATI May 08 2021 3:34 pm I liked Lee So Yeon in the past series that I saw her on hence my reason for watching this , the role doesn't become her. The writing is awful, how could one who is seeking revenge come out and say who they are. What's the deal with the son of Hara and her husband. Its done no matter what he married that witch Hara. Although the role for Hara is great I can do without the yelling and crying someone has to suffer once and for all.

There are a few roles  that they could have done without on this series namely the brother. and the henchman. I hope it ends well and soon.

Chiiee Apr 23 2021 2:18 am I decided to watch this drama because of Choi Yeo-Jin and the storyline seemed intriguing. This will make the 2nd ever daily drama I’ve ever watched and intend on watching till the very end. Both male leads are annoying. Eun Jo/Ga Heun needs to focus on her revenge. I get that she lost her child but her endearment for Hoon is misplaced and derailing her revenge. Ha Jun’s character has been unbearable and annoying from the very beginning but now his character is a lot more tolerable than Cha Sun Hyuk’s. I despise that distressed look Cha Sun Hyuk always has on his face. Are we supposed to feel pity for me? No one forced him to marry Oh Ha Ra. I have no clue what either of the female leads see in him. So entitled and self righteous. Claims to have never stopped loving Eun Jo but has been sexually active with Oh Ha Ra the entire time :/ Then there’s the ticking time bomb Bo Mi who will eventually end up revealing Ga Heun’s identity with her temperance. I will say this though, I’m glad how the drama picked up it’s pace after the first couple of episodes. The revenge is also refreshing

Shannon Apr 16 2021 4:45 pm A pretty good revenge story. Exactly because the main character is taking her time tormenting her enemies. Slowly building up the pain and backing them into corners. I really cannot wait for the final strike. The main character is usually in control at all times in tracking and predicting what her enemies are doing. Though you start to see cracks in emotions as time goes on. I do get frustrated with her treatment of her ex fiance. And if she ends up back with him l, I will scream. Somethings are just unforgivable to me, and the fiance did one even if he did it unknowingly. As for the enemies, they are so enjoyable to watch. They have distinct character traits that define them and maintains consistently throughout. And actors and writers do a great job of making me root for their downfall. It is a bit slow at times, but others I'm glued to my seat shouting at the TV. I can't wait to see where this goes.

sometimes the B plot is tiresome (eunjo's mum being in a weird love triangle) but the main plot is compelling, and the fast pace of the story is quite refreshing too. certain things don't make sense like how eunjo's brother and bomi were hired to work so near her, and why hara decided that murdering her best friend to be with a man with the personality of a cardboard box (sorry seonhyeok) was worth it, but i can overlook all these for the thrill of the storyline and how eunjo's revenge is coming together so nicely, as well as the character development for multiple characters.

my only concern is how the plot will progress with more than 60 episodes to go?? so fingers crossed for a sensible and satisfying ending!

Sure, some of the characters (maybe all of them?) in Miss Monte-Cristo are caricatures, but at least they’re interesting and convincing, not dull, witless and absurd talking heads.

Choi Yeo-jin is normally a pretty decent actress, but here her character is a murderous, neurotic, endlessly screaming spoiled brat who needs a few good slap to make her decent. N the stoopid, lazy, grandiosely egocentric chaebol heir is so annoying, he needs a few good slap too to break his soliloquy... This drama desperately needs some gorgeous eye candies to detract audience from the second-rate acting

Cho-sim asked her rich in-laws for a restaurant, when the fridge in her resto "start to make strange noises", she expected her daughter-in-law to buy her a new one. Joo Tae-sik, the ungrateful man, scammed his clueless friend's wife of her inheritance n made her his housekeeper. Had he had his way, he would make her his wife too. They then hypocritically pretended to "help" the clueless Soon-jeong. Oooff ?

Now this is how revenge is done; dole them out in small portions little by little until your enemy n everyone who wronged you are obliterated. Don't wait until the 90th or 100th episode to show the table began turning in favour of our hero/heroine, like that excruciating drama series "Man in A Veil". Women know how to do revenge better; like the Proverb said " Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Cold". Woohoooo!!

The younger actor playing seo jun . Was good for the younger audience . And Lee tae poong was better for both young and older people . I usually feel a good vibe for a show. I just feel this one is going to be dire . And what's with oh rah . It was han yu rah in man in a viel. And now you have oh hara Come up with some better names. I'm watching golden garden at the moment . It's funny and intriguing.
