Moon Joo-Ran (Kim Tae-Hee) grew up in a wealthy family. She is now a housewife and married to Jae-Ho (Kim Sung-Oh), who works as a doctor. They live in a house with a yard. Her peaceful daily life is abruptly shook when she notices a strange smell in her backyard. This leads to Moon Joo-Ran eventually investigating her husband and meeting Chu Sang-Eun (Lim Ji-Yeon). Chu Sang-Eun lives a completely different life from Moon Joo-Ran. She grew up in a poor environment and, even now, suffers from financial difficulties. She lives in a shabby rented apartment with her husband Kim Yoon-Beom (Choi Jae-Rim). Kim Yoon-Beom works for a pharmaceutical company. Sang-Eun is subject to domestic violence by her husband Kim Yoon-Beom. Her life is completely miserable. One day, she receives a phone call that Kim Yun-Beom is dead.

Mara Jan 16 2025 4:09 am I'm now in Episode 3 but the pacing is so slow and long-winding, and there's lots of staring and nothing going on, maybe to stretch the story. I started watching this because of Lim Je-Yeon (while waiting for the next Tale of Lady Ok episodes) and the gorgeous Kim Tae-Hee. But then after a few suspenseful scenes there's nothing much going on. I hope that after this episode things start to speed up and be more exciting.

He tried to kill her, he tried to kill the other woman. In America that would be Self Defence. I don’t think the woman pushed down the stairs was a minor. She was a con. I don’t actually blame him. Loved the battered woman’s mother. She did her role really well.

I don't think LJY plays different character from her recent drama 'The Glory', same facial expression and that lip biting. It's like Park Yeon-Jin live the life after she get out of the prison. Sorry.

Hunh Jul 02 2023 7:12 am Joo ran is the most irritating character ever seen in dramas. Infact lets blame the drama directors or producers who in attempt to get artsy went stupidly overboard in how choppily they showed her character that they almost turned the viewers into psycho cases. Okay in 1st ep we see joran has some bad past fair enough, that was portrayed in the most choppy way where one scene appears then suddenly second weird scenes appears as if there is no flow in scenes. Lets say viewers will tolerate this torturous editing in 2 episodes but it has been 4 episodes out of 8 episodes now and we still don't know what is her past, why is she so miserable and psychotic, why she suspects her husband all the time like why is she always in this constipated state, atleast explain it now instead of throwing in disjointed scenes because this part should not be suspence at all it is just part of her background and explanation why her character is so tortured and should be disclosed clearly to make viewerd understand why she acts this way, but no all they give are broken flowless string of scenes jumping from one point to another.

This is why am not entirely blaming the character for being so frustrating because much of it seems to be the fault of makers who presented her in this badmanner.

Jo ran is frustrating how she is always miserable and looking for something. Woman why are you so sus of your husband, and even if you are why you want to collude with a hideous looking another sus woman to go after your husband. Like you are not trusting the man you lived with for decades but ready to trust a crook woman and on top of all she seems to be partbering with her against her own husband. It is like she isn't just mentally ill but is extremely stupid as well.

It is so clear that sang eun killed her husband. I feel that jo ran's son is a murderer that was why he was sympathizing with the neighbour murderer woman.

Now lim ji yeon, making hideous faces and overacting doesn't mean good acting. Her character isn't even supposed to be so vile as she is presenting it.

Happy98 Jun 27 2023 6:20 pm 8 episodes are healthy amount of this kind of drama. Idk how many times i got suffocate along the episodes. I can't get rid Kim YoonBeom crawling scene in JooRan's dream. The terrific when you thought "thank god it's a dream" but you still dreaming and it got worst. The camera work, the editors are doing great, but the dialogues could be better imo.

Billion Jun 27 2023 2:38 pm Sang eun's character's psychoticness seems very artificial and forced to me maybe because it has become a trend to show abused characters this way in dramas that it seems caricaturish, like we just saw her being abused by her stupid husband few times and then next we see her always acting like an aggressive lunatic giving hideous slanted smiles, we dont see her having a scammer past like her husband but suddenly she is moved by his words "those people deserve punishment" and is now going after others blackmailing.

It's one of the best shot and acted drama in a long time. It's absolutely beautiful and Lim Ji Yeon is excellent.

One thing was very weird everyone was feeling the smell but why not the husband? It seems kim tae ri's mental issues are a resukt of meds her husband feeds her.

Adrian Jun 24 2023 7:15 am Anyone else having a hard time finishing an episode in one sitting? I fall asleep in the middle that I watched the two episodes in 5 days. The cinematic style is gorgeous but it's also distracting and confusing. So confusing that I read spoilers and recaps on various threads. I cannot tell if the scenes were flashbacks or some dream sequence. I am not as intrigued as I should be. I'm still finishing this, I love the actresses involved. Maybe they'll pull a surprise on the coming episodes.

Truth Jun 23 2023 2:49 pm The cinematography is definitely very godo and production quality, the house and sets but story telling is poor, not that story is bad, but the way scenes are woven togetger it feels so disjointed and frustrating. Like sudden jumps or sudden scene changes kind of thing. Specially when it comes to kim tae hee'scgracters,makers were going for artsy feel and went overboard into something. The show has both it's highs and lows.

1st ep was the most confusing one because you wouldnt even know what was happening.

Doctor's house is so beautiful, was just wondering could someone like him albeit he is rich but not super rich afford this mansion, this is first tine seeing such a huge lawn for a house in korean dramas, in kdramas mostly lawns for villas are small and only huge when they are giant estates of charbols and thenthose lawns are not lawns they are huge fields like lets say in Mine.

The house looks so haunting, no wonder this was chosen for the movie parasite. So interesting, that the actress and the point of view shots helped me analyze the episode better, I could almost imagine the stench that comes from the yard of Kim Tae Hee. She could really deliver her acting skills with not much lines but with the expression and aura she exudes. Looking forward to watch the episodes unfold, as this stars my new favorite visual to watch. I started to notice Lim Ji Yeon on Glory and she definitely rocked her character there. Then I became so interested that I searched for more of her dramas. O loved her character at High Society, she definitely oozed chemistry with Park Hyung Sik. I also watched Obsessed and her character is surprisingly different and the acting was perfectly delivered in a different level with Song Seung Heon as the one so obsessed with her.

Wouldve been a better fit as main lead of the Glory. Hye kyo's was just week and boring. Good thing she has fame which land her her baeksang award. Anyway, you'll see what I'm trying to say since this show has Lim Ji yeon, try to compare.
