Set at a private high school, which is a hotbed of corruption. A beautiful story emerges between mathematics teacher and a genius mathematics student.

Ji Yoon-Su (Lim Soo-Jung) is a mathematics teacher at a private high school. She is good-natured and also has a strong will to push forward, once her mind is is set. Ji Yoon-Su is passionate about mathematics, who always palpitates in front of difficult math questions. She encourages her students to find their own answers and proofs for math questions. She becomes involved with Baek Seung-Yoo (Lee Do-Hyun).

Baek Seung-Yoo is a student at the private high where Ji Yoon-Su teaches. He hardly talks, but he likes taking pictures with his DSLR camera. He doesn't have friends at school and his academic score ranks at the bottom, but he has a surprising past. When he was little, he won numerous mathematical olympiads. When he was 10, he entered MIT in the U.S., but he suddenly disappeared at the age of 12.

Ep.1 air date was originally scheduled for November 3, 2021, but was changed to November 10, 2021. The delay is due to a staff member having COVID-19 and, out of an abundance of caution, postponing filming and airing of the drama series by one week.

Wendy Jun 27 2025 11:30 pm I don’t agree with the fact that age makes someone go “ick.” I went ick because it really wasn’t a school crush angle. But apart from all of this—I usually like everything Lee Do-hyun is in. I’ve watched it all. I’m invested in this series, but I hate his character. He’s basically an overprotective stalker that has ruined a good part of the teacher’s life because of his immaturity. (Even after school.) Yes, she’s the adult, but he didn’t listen to every time she said not to contact him. He followed her. He got her number. He started mentoring Si-an really as a way to get to Yoon-soo. I’m only on the 9th episode and, oh look, there he is again barging in on Yoon-soo’s conversation with Seong-jae. I may not make it past episode 9. :)

Ish Jan 07 2025 7:19 pm Lead actress Lim Soo-Jung is absolutely adorable. As a mathematician, I really enjoyed the description of the life of mathematicians. Of course, there are inaccuracies and exaggerations. For example, you can't be accused of plagiarism for the method used to check whether a number is a perfect square. That's part of the curiculum. Anyway... When I was 19, I fell in love with a woman twice my age, and it was a wonderful experience for a while, so I can't condemn anything in this story, I'm just jealous of Baek Seung-Yoo :-)

Those who talk about "cringe" and "ick" etc. are probably too young to watch this. They should stick to idol dramas...true "cringe" and "ick".

I am trying my best to watch this but to be honest it gives me the ick. I just finished episode 7 and I don't think I can still continue watching it. I've never watched a series where I have to actually pause and recollect my thoughts before continuing.

It's so exhausting. None of the characters are likeable. The politicking within the school, there's enough of that in real life that I don't think I need to watch it happen in a fictional school setting.

On one hand I want to give this series a chance based on the glowing reviews I read but I couldn't get past the student-teacher relationship. There's something about the teacher's actions that make me roll my eyes, especially the fact that she didn't enforce the line she drew. I was also having trouble watching LDH's character go from having a crush to a teacher to being a stalker. He's a good actor, that's why I like him, but I just couldn't bear watching his character become a stalker. Even the statement Seung-yoo made about him wanting to be an adult as fast as possible made me cringe.

While I love the cinematography, the music, the overall look and feel of it, I really dislike the way the characters were written, as well as how they interact with each other.

The ML Lee Do Hyun such a great versatile actor with such a sweet lovely face, love to see him on screen and the FL Lim Soo Jung what a sublime performance here. A must see this drama!! I kept on postponing it but i am so happy i finally watched it.

KFan Feb 21 2024 9:27 pm Teacher-student relationship should have stayed a completely false accusation just to get teacher fired. It’s never appropriate to blur those lines as a professional. Writers should do better than perpetuate trope of student falling in love with teacher…or at least have teacher character draw definite line in sand. Gross!

Just because it’s 4 years later and they’re both “adults” doesn’t make it appropriate. Legal doesn’t equal the right thing to do. No teacher should ever end up dating their high school student. Especially right after high school.

Xenoxidal Jan 28 2024 11:26 am This is a masterpiece of a kdrama that deeply explores the meaning of love in today's world. It is extremely multi-dimensional in a way that very few kdramas manage to achieve. The treatment of each character and even small details or actions is admirable.

I truly enjoyed watching this masterpiece. Not to mention the OST music is also amazing! (Check it out on Spotify...)

People who say they already had an improper relationship in the school are clearly missing the point and treating "love" as a flat out black and white entity.

It's two humans who have a shared love for math and are deeply engrossed by their passion for math. Nowhere did they engage in any inappropriate physical contact or intimacy, other than just being like 2 friends who both love math and appreciate each other. They didn't even hug or anything of that sort. Sure the guy had a massive crush on her but that's a teenage crush that's common and don't tell me teenagers can't have a crush on someone. There were several instances where clearly the female lead starts realising the guy may like her and she pushes him back.

It's only after he graduates and meets her 4 years later that they actually have some physical contact such as hugging (which is rarely reciprocated by her). Anyway at this point they're both friggin adults already so why does it matter.

And still at these moments they're never in a relationship or bf/gf. It's just a few occasional moments where the guy expresses her affection and it leaks out. In fact I must say the progression of their relationship is extremely well crafted and very unlike many shallow kdramas where the male and female leads fall in love magically after a few episodes.

Ok, I have no great love for math & I couldn’t do the problems they discuss if my life depended on it. But our frustration lies with a teacher inappropriately spending alone time with her teenage student, whisking him off to a museum by plane no less, to visit her father in a nursing home & staying up all night in the classroom which just happened to be in an empty school.Seriously, what adult, let alone teacher, wouldn’t know those were foolish actions & she did it not once, but repeatedly. I’m not sure about men, but I’m positive every woman sees the red flags when anyone has a crush on her. Unless we welcome it, we steer clear of that situation Especially if it’s your student! Even after rumors started, she acted totally naive which is completely unbelievable. The principal was like a character in a bad horror cult show. The only character I do like is the ex fiancé & she’s so cold to him. We’re on episode 11, but until now I can’t see that her ex has done anything wrong & where does Seung Yoo get off telling him to stay away from Ji Yoon-su? At that point both of them upset her & she had told them both to stay away. Of course, it looks like that’s changing. It’s ridiculous that Seung Yoo just happens to appear wherever Ji Yoon su happens to be. Not realistic at all. You’d think they were located in a tiny village rather than Seoul, pop of nearly 10 million! He strikes me as a stalker. Furthermore, all of this revenge talk & working together as a “team”; what could have been an intelligent & introspective story is turning into a thriller. Reminds me of “Carrie” a dumb horror film that didn’t pretend to be a deep & touching story. Oh yeah & what’s with the escape scene where Yoon su & Seung Yoo flee upstairs from the principal to an area surrounded by glass with absolutely nowhere to hide & then he grabs her, encloses her in an embrace to hide her from the evil principal? So lame.

Renwa Dec 30 2023 9:24 am Just completed Melancholia…pretty much binged watched as aspects so gripped me. Thank you Netflix for including this underrated sleeper. Really enjoyed this somewhat unconventional beauty. The treatment of mathematics and the making of a mathematician was nothing short of elegant & stunning. The visceral toil and joy that comes with problem solving is a metaphor for any of our passions. The art & science of opening a student’s world to their own abilities and passion is the mark of a magnificent teacher. And here is where Melancholia begins, travels, perseveres and triumphs. I want to say this drama deserves an appreciative rarified audience but won’t because we all have our talents and passions and hope we are lucky enough to find that “teacher” to unlock our own personal genius. So many subplots to deter the journey towards realization of our own worth and joy. The presence of pure evilness, distorted perceptions of normative emotional development abounds but so does perseverance and courage in the service of instilling values in our young people. Hold your judgement to the end and celebrate those with backbone. Yes, really loved this one and yes, while not a nerd myself, I vividly viscerally have enjoyed “learning” and not merely memorizing as a student. Feed your soul here. Thank you to such a fine screenwriter, cast, director and all associated with this production.

I made it to the like the 4-6 ep and skipped to the last episode cause I just was not understanding how this grown ass woman could not tell that the relationship she had with her male student was inappropriate. That was took me out of the main plot and I couldnt concentrate on the actual main storyline. I was just like this kid is a teenager yeah but why is she not calling his parents to ask them for permission to take him to a museam/nursing home/ect. It was so inappropriate and could come back to haunt her which it did.

They were so close to pull a 80085. Anyway, this was a wasted attempt on a decent concept. Not recommended!

Steve Jul 18 2023 10:03 pm So much conniving and so many unlikeable characters. The bad deeds just keep coming, and coming. Some interesting story elements, but way too long. Suggest you pass on this one unless you love these actors.

David Jul 11 2023 12:53 am Watching this kdrama, not sure why the ML is not getting arrested for stalking borderline obsessions even after 4 years and uses revenge as the way to get to the female lead. Even though this is a live story they could have spin it in a diff way instead of almost stalking and obsessions storyline. Wake up!!!

While she may have inadvertently led him on its still downright wrong to act on your feelings for a teacher. And seungyoo still has the gall to attack her ex-fiancee when he doesn't know what the couple had to endure up til their break up. Honestly the fiancee should have punched seungyoo in that arrogant face four years later. I know I'd do that if a student of my lover was trying to come on to her. Regardless if he was a minor. And there was one scene in the hospital when yoonsu had trouble breathing - that idiot actually played around with the IV drip as if he had any medical background whatsoever. Hes a fucking mathematician, not a doctor!

Tzveeble Jun 28 2022 4:43 am Wow, haven't finished it yet, but it is so incredibly heavy and sad, but also so interesting, how the topic of the series, i.e. calculus, spins through the whole story. I am a big fan. The actors are amazing, and the spread of characters, inclinations, deep down truths felt inside but not revealed, are just phenomenal! It is heavy hearted, but not without hope. A very pertinent production that provides lots of food for thought.

This series gives us an insight of the wonders and truth of math, love and education portrayed. I think not many will relate or find it interesting because it doesn’t show the common chemistry between two leads in a drama. However I enjoyed this series because it comforted me in a way of seeing the world and math in a different perspective:)

They really love each other. Indeed, love really needs a perfect timing. Hope to see Soojung and dohyun in a romantic comedy drama.

S Feb 05 2022 8:55 pm Waste of Time!!!!! The complete biggest waste of time in a kdrama I’ve probably ever experienced. It started off promising then got worse and even WORSE the further on it went. So little romance, and I mean barely a CRUMB that can it even be called a romance drama at all? Spoiler alert: You get a 30 second clip of them finally together at the end with a kiss from very far away. Other than that, next to zero chemistry, plus the FL (rightfully) kept fighting him every step of the way. It made sense before the time skip, and even for a little while thereafter, but it came to a point where I was begging for any sort of romance promised, but not a damn OUNCE was delivered. Okay plot that Dragged!!!!!!!! for way too long. Emphasis on dragged gosh.

Overall 3-4/10 and that’s only for a handful of the character themselves.

After finishing the drama, i'm deeply in love with the male lead. Of course the female lead is one of my favorite actresses of all time since the beginning. I chose to watch this Kdrama because of her. Watching this Kdrama somehow washes my depression away for some time. Hope the male lead and female lead are cast together again in the future series. Love their chemistry.

I’m starting to watch Melancholia by getting myself to be more open-minded in the definitions of love, and not just what a social condition leads us to accept it. Melancholia portrayed “taboo romance” related to socially-sensitive topics about student-teacher relationships developed through their love for mathematics, though it never crossed the line. Love is a universal language as an expression of feeling, and I respect the author for her courage to bring this theme into the drama.

BaekJi couple shows us a pure and innocent love story, that differs from the typical romance we've seen so much before. The romantic scenes are shown by how much they love and care for each other through math and actions rather than lots of kisses or skinship. This math couple is loving each other in a very meaningful way. The two of them are healing each other and changing each other lives to be better people. Their relationship is far beyond the usual typical lovers. 7 years for finally she acknowledged him as an equal and partner she falls in love with and be socially accepted. They got their well-deserved happy ending after all the melancholic love journey they had to undergo. The ending is so mature, beautiful, sweet, simple but clearly shows us that they are a couple, absolutely mesmerizing.

The use of mathematics as a subject makes the uniqueness and I can feel how math could be so beautiful. Melancholia shows us a unique perspective on "human problems" through the eyes of a mathematician and uses the meaning of mathematics as a metaphor in the journey of life and love.

Melancholia gives us life lessons in many aspects of life and also portrays humanity. This drama shows the character development of casts and proved that people can change and be better. Melancholia also explores parenting, the education system, mental health, injustices and privilege for high society, unbridled ambitions, academic and corruption scandals, etc.

Giving you the rollercoaster of emotions, this beautiful drama with its intellectual romance, beautiful osts, and beautiful cinematography will be one of my all-time favorite KDramas. On-screen, I think this math couple is the most courteous in KDrama 2021. Big thanks and cheers to the screenwriter, director, casts, staff, and crews for this beautiful drama, especially my dearest couple Lim Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun. They proved that the age gap is not that noticeable as they love and match each other. Their chemistry is on fire..!

To be honest, I like the villains more than the main leads. Jin Kyung is such a talented and beautiful actress that portraits her character so well. Still remembered her sweety role in My Only one but in this drama she gives me chill with a unique and charming villain corrupted principal. And I feel bad for Choi Dae-Hoon(ex-boyfriend of FL) like he loves FL so much but FL doesn't give him any affection at ALL. I know she loves math and she falls for ML unconsciously since he is a math genius. But as a teacher, she was being careful and get into a suspicious relationship with her student which leads to all the chaos. Overall, not a big fan of the storyline but the acting is good.

Love the relationship between the lead male and female actor, so romantic to see their love grows when Baek Seoung Yoo becomes mature man. Hope they have a happy ending love story and the bad guys get what they deserve. Can't wait to watch the last 2 episodes.

The love you see is love for maths, and finding justice for the people you love. This drama also gives a unique perspective on "human problems" (not "math problems" ?) though the eyes of a mathematician. At the same time, it gives a realistic depiction of how peoples lives are ruined by others' greed, and the difficult journey to get justice.

That could possibly be why this has such low ratings. It’s just taking the usual route as a lot of many other dramas. The only negative is the actress playing Ye Rin is terrible. It’s so bad that I get confused at what is actually supposed to be going on because whatever emotion she is trying to portray doesn’t convey well at all. Until she came out and said that she liked Seung Yoo I couldn’t tell what her deal was…that’s how bad her acting is. I’m sorry that’s probably the only thing I have against this drama besides the few weird story plots that doesn’t make sense in the whole story.

The male lead is doing a stupendous job. The story takes intelligence to watch, with mathematics as a core subject, which is probably why the ratings are on the low side for cable station tvN. Not everyone is intelligent. Not even in Korea. ;) I must also add that the cinematography is truly outstanding. Sometimes I just freeze the remote button on my TV so I can closely examine the composition of individual shots. This story in some ways reminds me of Hyun Bin's classic The Snow Queen Kdrama, since his character was a math genius too. Math is a fascinating subject -- and so is true love.

I like how mathematics plays a big role in the show. The characters are perfect. However, start from the seventh episode, mathematics play a smaller role in the drama. When it comes to love, I know that everyone can be a dumb, but I did hope that this show would turn out different. I want to see the main characters solve the problems in mathematical and logical way. They are math geniuses after all.

Yet, I love it ? watching this drama makes me want to read more books about math. And The Cinematography Or Whatsoever Is Beautiful!! I love for that!

There was no compromising scenes so anyone can watch it. The lead actor is great and doing his character Justice. The female lead is not bad at all and all the supporting casts are doing their parts to make this drama series worthwhile. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed, solid casts and storyline!

This drama portrays about parenting, educating, toxic parents, psychological trauma, unbridled ambitions, academic and corruption scandal, and of course about the romance of the two main casts.

I respect how the scriptwriter develops the relationship and romances of the two main casts: teacher (Ji Yoon Su) and high school student (Paik Seung Yu).

Ji Yoon Su is a mathematician who loves math and a teacher who cares deeply about her students equally. Ji Yoon Su discovers Paik Seung Yu, who is similar to her: loves math and sees the world through a mathematical point of view. Paik Seung Yu actually a math genius, but has the worst grades in school. Trauma faced due to past incident made him seems to have given up on everything and had stopped caring about math and people. Ji Yoon Su is the only adult who truly peers into his heart and cares for him. She also helps him to overcome his trauma dan return his true identity. Seung Yu feels strangely attracted to Yoon Su.

I think at this age, it is possible for Seung Yu finds his first love or puppy love or even true love to his teacher, Ji Yoon Su. It is common and might be happens a lot around the world: students falling in love with their teachers. Ji Yoon Su clearly draws a line as a teacher. She gently pushes him away after Paik Seung Yu confesses his feelings to her. Ji Yoon Su refuses a gift of Seung Yu’s sign of love. Ji Yoon Su shows the mature and grown-up way of handling the relationship between herself and her student. This feeling only one-sided love. There’s no relationship between them in school days.

Ji Yoon Su and Paik Seung Yu seem to have “close interactions” while preparing for the International Math Olympic. It gives rise to controversy and causes “discomfort” for some viewers. However, I think this drama tries to highlight her enthusiasm, her spirit, her passions, her deep cares as a teacher to encourage her student, but at the other side, her acts may be look reckless and naïve. It doesn't please anyone else and give rise to rumor of the two; rumor actually spread to cover academic and corruption scandal that almost exposed. The rumor ruined her career. That's what makes this drama emotional and trigger the conflicts.

The romances of the two actually begins four years later. An adult Seung Yu, who now became a famous mathematician, finally reunited with Ji Yoon Su, who disappeared for 4 years after the tragedy. Seung Yu is trying so persistent to get closer again to Ji Yoon Su and help her to prove her innocence. The two gradually grow closer. And at this phase, Ji Yoon Su finally realized that he had fallen in love with Seung Yu. It doesn’t matter for age-gap. They are both adults, single, and love each other. Afterwards, the two get involved to expose the truth and academic scandal and corruption that ruined her four years ago.

There’s a great teacher behind a great student. Thanks to our pretty and beloved teacher, Lim Soo Jung. You portrayed this character perfectly. You are really fit on it. I wonder no one can portrays it as well as you. I love your voice and your shady eyes. Lee Doo Hyun, your brilliant acting skills do show that you really deserve to win awards for best actor this year. Congratulations!

I have been watching ep 1-11. I enjoy watching this drama and I’m in love with the storyline, Airing at the end of this year, thank you for filling our hearts with this beautiful and heart-warming drama, beautiful osts, beautiful cinematography. Wishing this drama has a Happy Ending; They deserve to be together and happy.

Of course, with the dramas continuing, we get to know their story, it is still late and that pain she got could have been avoided.

When I started this show I thought they wouldn't have anything going on while he was in high-school and a minor but that whole incident just makes any future romance disgusting. I'm gonna keep watching because the show is good but I'm leaving as soon as they include any form of romance between them.

BTW I hope Karma hits ye rin because her character is just disgusting. Although I doubt it since kdrama writers like making the villains pitiful!

Don't have a bias about love between teacher and student, you will enjoy this drama. I'm not good in math or calculus but still enjoy the development of their feelings. The message in this drama is not emphasize the love line. We will see the mathmetics is around us. They try to solve the problem and social problem of the rich and powerful who use privillage to take advantage and cheat. They try to uphold justice. So you will see many stories more than love between teacher and student.

while it might be easy to say Baek Seung Yoo shouldnt have cross the line (to love Ji Yoon), i dont blame him (but yeah he should have kept it professional still..ok its still a drama aft all). after all, Ji Yoon Su is the one that lead him back to the pathway and make him want to be a better person.

the fault is on the competitive students of Asung High School who always think the fault is on others if they dont do well. Ji Yoon Su is not showing favoritism because she would have treared gyu yeong or ye rin the same if they are truly passionate about maths as well?

so glad that the 2017 era in the episode stopped at *ok no spoilers* it would be heart wrenching to see what happen next. good that they fast forward to 2021 era and good that Baek Seung Yoo succeeded in Maths?

The sentimental acting goes a long way in touching my heart and I don't have problem with the age difference, it's the 21st century things like students falling in love with their teachers happens are bound to happen, and it does happen a lot around the world. So I don't get why people would go all hypocritical and say because the film Is based on that it's bad and all, let's all be realistic it happens. And I have to give an accolades to the actors and actresses, also the write — making a romance story out of maths isn't something we see everyday, and that's what makes the film unique and Charming.

And here I am, laying on my bed desperately waiting for the next episode to come out.

It is just that the students in that school were very competitive, intelligent but lacking emotional IQ. The story of the fiancee and teacher was not yet seen in the few episodes. I think it will be shown in the upcoming episodes. It is not the fault of the teacher if the student fall of her. In reality, we cannot control someone's feelings. We can only control ours. The male lead is trying his best to control his feelings. Let us just wait how the stories of each characters unfold. I love the flow of the story. Queen CR Nov 21 2021 7:10 am I feel that this drama is strange, hard-core math geeks falling in love. That's why I had a low expectation and just watched it because of Lee Do Hyun. However, like watching the Queen's Gambit, I think Melancholic director and production staff did an excellent job, offering viewers quick pacing from one point to another and providing many feel-good & beautiful scenes. Look forward to seeing how it will end :D

I believe that a teacher has draw a clear line between him/her and a student. With this I don't mean that must be distant or indifferent about his/her student, but to make clear the role that has. A teacher isn't just a mama, not a friend, and in any way a possibly lover(omg...) A teacher is a teacher. Is someone that make everything possible for all students to have the same chances in education independently from their social, economical and educational background. And yes, a teacher should all be care about the whole personality of students and and support them emotionally... But

.. I think the wrong with this teacher is that make all if them with the wrong way... Emotionally support doesn't mean to go around alone with a student, to share mp4 and listen music, to be alone with him until night.. Even if assume that she make all this without bad intentions, however give the wrong impression to others and..to the student and that not unjustified. When she have a student with emotional scars and she behaves towards him more like a woman friend with same interests in Maths( not as a teacher) and with that gentleness it is only normal that the student maybe falls for her. So from the start she must be more careful and considerate around him... I have the thought that even if the start their relationship begins as something innocent ( at least in this way portrayed by writer) if teacher doesn't gone from school in the end it's very possible that the relationship end ups as romance...cause she approached him with the wrong way and because him is someone who need be loved... somehow I believe that writer has make a corrupt school environment only to justify the "innocent" relationship between teacher-student... the sub romance who the two of them share, even if it is only the student side emotions that are more clear in our eyes... but even if all around them they just hate them, it is a reason this to justify the wrong steps that make towards her student and makes him has the "wrong" expectations from her... for me is a no...as a adult she must be more unambiguous and thinks the results of her doings before she acts... And yes the main romance maybe begins when the two of them be adults... but come on ... on the very start she was wrong as teacher, because she gives him a support out from her role, more as female fellow and because of that the student begin to grow feelings for her as woman...because he receive gentleness from her that he translate as something more than a teacher's interest... For me , even it isn't a clear romance student - teacher(maybe the writer wants to avoid possible negative reactions) from the start the writer approached the teacher's interaction with a student with the wrong way and that is the disadvantage of this drama.

As a teacher we don't only teach students to gain knowledge but also provide emotional support and encouragement to our students. That's what I the female lead is doing. She wanted that all students should have equal opportunities. i love how the writer plotted the first few episodes. The actors played there roles perfectly or they really suited for there characters. I can say that this is a very good to watch.

Maybe Seung Yoo/Min Jae has traumatic childhood, my guess is sexual harassment from the preview theacher or someone, despite the pressure from his parents for always trigger him as the perfect one/to be number one/achieve something. Can’t wait for the next episodes.

I ended up searching for the meaning of the term "Melancholia" and after reading a lot of stuff related to its title I'm having a hint that these drama is worth watching. You can observe the behavior of the lead actor "Lee Do-Hyun" in the series and you can relate it to the profound meaning of the series. Looking forward for a more exciting episodes.

Im not defending or opposing anything but thats the scene at elite and elite intl schools around the world. If you dont want to comply you should quit. Also i believe a management can interfere with exam questions. However, leaking papers , fudging marks etc is extreme corruption. Ppl wont even know at these elite school teachers even get pressure from parents to enhance student grades and teachers sometimes give in.

I dunno about other people who find that this is gross, but I don’t think their romance is the highlight of this drama. It’s about revealing the corruption in one dirty private school. I first met her when I was in high school and confessed my feelings when I was 19 years old, now I am 24 btw.

If you think our relationship is going well, of course not, especially for her. I've seen her cry countless times because other people talk bad about her (I hate them so much btw), She's also asked me to stop this relationship several times for my sake. I also think that my existence is indirectly torturing her. But we choose to believe in this feeling. I also can't let her go now because I've taken so much of her time which I can't return either.

So, believe me, this situation really exists, and stop judging this drama since both of them are legal.

Basically, she will be helping a gifted math student but the crooked school is going to have her kicked out on the premise that she was dating a student ( which is False). 4 years will pass and her and the student will reconnect to fight the injustice of the school.. FYI, he will be in his early twenties I believe so a love line is fine although weird. I guess they will do a 10 year age gap but the female lead was is 40 IRL but luckily she can pass for 30 ..

The characters meet again when they are older too...hello? This isn't a teen-teacher high school romcom. Also his roles have been diverse so far, from dumb and cheerful (Still 17), flirty and mellow (HDL), stoic and cold (Sweet Home), loud young ahjussi (18 Again), and sweet and frank (Youth of May). It's been quite diverse, the ones questioning his choice of roles prefer him to be typecasted (honestly he's too talented to stick to only what's sweet and popular) or already think he's been typecasted (don't know what you've been watching but not even close). Too early to say for this drama, but thank goodness he gets the chance to learn from respected veteran actors and also gets to expand his repertoire.

And also about the age gap, I don't think it would be a problem cos they're both professional actors, they can handle it well especially Lee Do Hyun has already an experience in pairing with an older actress in 18 Again and Im Soo Jung with a younger guy in Search: WWW! I'm excited to see this, cos why not? If they can pair Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Ri as a couple, I also wouldn't mind if they pair an older woman to a younger man cos it can also happen in real life like Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron!
